Changing Account User

I recently tried to change my user short name by selecting the folder, in the users folder, and changed the name in "Get Info" (under file menu). All seemed well until I logged out and back in again. I then found that my user, which I had renamed, was not the user I logged into, and that a new user, under the old user name, was the user I logged into which had gone to all the default settings. Fortunetly I can still access my old user folder, but I would really like to make the old renamed user the user I log into.
Please help! All replies and aid will be much appreciated.

That's correct. Two ways you can find it are in Workgroup Manager before you've deleted the account, or by looking at the ownership of the files in a terminal after you've deleted it. In Workgroup Manager, the User ID field is located in the basic account pane for each user. If you're not familiar with operating a shell in the terminal, the alternative is somewhat more complicated but I could provide you with instructions if you need them. Basically, though, if a user account is deleted and you ask the filesystem the owner of a file, it will report the UID instead of the user name. As UID is how ownership is actually tracked, without the user name to map to the UID is all it can tell you.

Go to Apple > System Preferences > Network. From the top drop down menu labeled "Show", choose "Network Status". Then from the list of devices, select Internal Modem. Click the Configure button near the bottom of the window.
Here, click the tab marked PPP, and then the button marked PPP Options near the bottom. From this list of checkboxes, uncheck the box labeled "Disconnect When Switching User Accounts". Optionally, you may uncheck "Disconnect when user logs out" as well. Then, push the OK button, and close System Preferences.

Did you change the email address or create a new Apple ID?
If the email address associated with the account was merely changed, sign out of the Apple ID on the devices and sign in using the new credentials.

iCloud email addresses can't be changed or deleted, but you can set up an alias namethat he can use which will be linked to his current iCloud account and will receive email in the existing iCould inbox. This guide explains how: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

There are no contacts in itunes.
Your contact should be on your computer in whatever program you have selected to sync. Just sync them to the new one.

I cannot change any user account icons

I cannot change any user account icons. Under the Default icons it says "No Items". Any new users are set up with a tennis ball with no other options. In the initial set up, there were a lot of choices. Now they're gone. It there a missing file?

Yes the missing user icons is unexplained and nothing I've tried has resolved it.
It seems to have occurred as part of the 10.8.2 update for me.
No user shows any of the default or custom user icons available in the users system preference. All the Apple icons are present in the /Library/User Icons folder as well as custom icons but they do not appear within the system's panel period. No icons appear there. You are able to add icons to it -per user. Any done in this manner are saved in that user's preferences so this does not affect the system level. I have tried removing preferences. I have tried removing the icons and adding them back including as root but all changes are applied to the user only. I have run Diskwarrior, repaired permissions, etc. And nothing changes this.
I cloned the image to another laptop, deleted all preferences from main library, restarted, logged in expecting it to be a preference issue. Still no user pictures shown for default user. In case the original users were corrupt, I created a new user and logged in with it. It was given one of the OSX pictures randomly chosen by the system. I logged in as user and still no pictures are shown. Tried to do a reinstall of 10.8.2 combo update and system refuses saying I cannot be done. Booted from recovery partition and it allowed an internet recovery.
No change. Took a brand new laptop and used user migration to copy the users over to it with all settings. Broke that system as well. Repeated creating new users, etc and no change. This is really annoying. I can repeat migrating users only and then partial settings to try to narrow it down but its time consuming.

CUP: Request type change account- Change of user data other than roles

Hi Experts,
I am using the request type change account to change the user type and/or validity of the user. In the description of this request type it says I can use it to request additional access and other changes to an account. Yet when i try to change user validity.. CUP asks me to select one role when I try to submit the request..
Is there any thing else that I need to do so that the request type works for account changes as well?

Go to End Configuration -> End user personlization, select the checkbox next to 'Roles' and click on change. Change the 'Manadatory' dropdown to 'No'. Now, save the changes and create the change request.

I would like to add a 'change user SSO password' form to my BC4J application. The form's submit button fires an action that calls a PL/SQL package. This package receives 7 parameters, and uses de dbms_ldap package to change the user's password.

- SSO Username
- Old Password
- New Password
- Retyped New Password (for confirmation)
I'm trying with a DataForwardAction event whose purpose is to get the user's account information and the LDAP location, but I can't get the LDAP Location (ClassCastException) and the SSOUsername (NullPointerException).

Yes, I know I can use JNDI instead of a call to a PL/SQL package (I visited this link: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=592611&start=0 that explains how to do it), but in both cases I have the same problem: I don't know if it's possible to get the LDAP's environment specifications (PROVIDER_URL, SECURITY_PROTOCOL) dynamically.
Our production environment's LDAP is not the same as our development environment's LDAP. This is why I want to get this information dynamically.
I think that this information is stored in the jazn.xml file: Is there any way to get this information?
