Changing Album Artwork (movies)

At one point I was able to drag artwork (.jgp) from my desktop and place in the Album Artwork window to change the artwork for a movie, but I am no longer able to do it. Has this change? I need some help. Thanks.
Version: iTune 10.2.1 (1) for a Mac.

it still works for me, however, i find it more convenient to use a tagger such as iDentify.

  • Change album artwork.

I get very annoyed as having a vast collection of songs in i-tunes including cloud, to find that the resolution of the artwork is rubbish for some (not all) albums when viewed. It is even more exaggerated and crap when viewed via Apple TV onto my television.
To attempt a change of the artwork, I have highlighted the desired album with a lower resolution artwork, right clicked and selected "clear downloaded artwork."  Having done this, I then slected 'get info' for each track in turn and selecting the artwork tab, delete the album artwork. Having "cleared" all artwork both on album as well as each individual track, I then drop a better resolution album art (160x160) into the album "get info" This appears to work as the higher resolution artwork can be seen in i-tunes. HOWEVER - once i-tunes has been closed down and re-opened the old poor artwork (which appears to be no better than 90x90) is displayed again.
What I can't get my head around is why some albums have higher resolution when others are rubbish and won't display (and retain) the "replaced" higher res artwork despite going through above process!
I have even reverted to delete the album from library and match, then reinstall/burn from the CD. The same result with rubbish resolution for the artwork!
Anybody managed to be able to remove/change and "hold" a replaced (higher res) artwork.
I believe that unless you have bought the album from i-tunes store then "get album artwork" will not work for the selected album, even if it was matched in the cloud! Is this correct?
Just to add further to the problem, when artwork displayed on my i-pad, it may not pick up any artwork at all, despite i-tunes displaying the artwork.

    Hi there,
Did you move the entire My Music > iTunes folder? If so this will contain all your album covers etc already...
If you only moved the My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music folder, this folder only contains the music files...

  • Changing Album Artwork D/L'd from Apple Store

    Hi:
Am wondering if there is any way to change the album artwork for downloads from the Apple Store; they seem to be embedded or something. The normal File -> Get Info -> Artwork method to add/delete artwork for a track does not work (original art does not display), and drag/drop of an image file directly to the iTunes art pane does not "stick" either -- although it does show-up: the art always reverts back to the original d/l'd version. Am running iTunes 9.
    Any help appreciated...

*Select all songs of the album > right-click > clear downloaded artwork*
If this doesn't work (It usually don't for iTunes purchased files) then try this:
*Select all songs of the album > right-click > get info - select the artwork field (empty) > click OK*

  • How can I change album artwork in iTunes?

Can anyone tell me, if it is possible to change an album artwork that downloaded wrong from iTunes, and how? Thank You!

  • Changing album artwork via click-and-drag gone in iTunes 12?

Is there any way to still click-and-drag album artwork for CDs I import. I just built a brand new machine and now half of my CDs artwork is either not recognized, incorrect or just not what I want. Now as a party DJ I have a lot of CDs to import and now the only way I can alter the artwork to what i want is to apparently save the image to my computer first. I think this is super asinine as I used to just Google search it and click-and-drag. Has anyone figured this one out yet? I really don't want to have to go to Windows Media Player just to get the artwork that I want, instead of what Apple wants me to have...

  • Changing Album Artwork

How do I replace the album artwork that is incorrect for CDs I have added from my personal library? There's been a few that haven't come up right when I used "search album artwork" instead of scanning in my own.

Don't know if it will make a difference, but try copy and paste instead of dragging the artwork into the field. Also...if they are .wav files, you cannot embed artwork. Wav files do not support embedded artwork.
Also...if you really running Windows, you have posted in the wrong forum. This is the iTunes for Mac. (Not sure if there are minor details that would be different on Windows.)

  • None of my album artwork was downloaded to my iPhone and iPad.

How do I get the artwork?

Hope this helps. Deselect "display album artwork," check apply. Then select "display album artwork," check apply. Depending on how many songs you have, it will take several minutes. If you have like 2400 songs, it will take 10 minutes.
I have a similar problem, except it is not with all my songs but for certain songs. I notice albums do not initially show album artwork if you add/change album artwork via the iPod. But if the album artwork is already added from the computer, mine displays just fine.
Edit: whoops, you already tried that, sorry

  • ITunes Embedded Album Artwork Management

I have purchased an iPod Touch 4th generation (iOS updated to 5.1.1) and I have a few questions regarding the process iTunes uses to embed album artwork into mp3 files via the "get info" dialog.
    1. Does iTunes first resize** the chosen image file prior to embedding and then perform the embedding operation or is the image embedded without any prior modification?
**By resize, I mean two possible operations that currently come to my mind:
    - Reshape the image so that it has a 1:1 width to height ratio
    - Compress the image so that for example, a 1000x1000 px image gets converted to a 600x600 px one.
So does any such procedure take place in the <embedding> phase?
    2. Are there any repercussions to embedding artwork not having a 1:1 width to height ratio? For instance if I use a rectangular artwork instead of a square one, does it get displayed correctly on the iPod Touch?   on the iTunes? I am asking this because I remember reading somewhere that a 1:1 ratio was the recommendation for album artworks.
    (Found the link: http://www.ehow.com/info_12174326_wont-itunes-apply-album-artwork-movies.html)
    3. My final question is on how the artwork data is transferred to iPod during sync. Does iPod...
    a. read directly the metadata from the mp3 file's id3 tag itself to display the artwork on the screen, or
    b. read the cached image that is sent to it through iTunes. As far as I've been able to read through (and if I've understood correctly), when dealing with mp3's with embedded artwork iTunes first creates (from the embedded image) a cache of artworks in the user's Music folder for its own internal use.
So does iTunes pass a copy of this cached image over to the iPod during sync, or does iPod directly access the image information in the mp3 file's tag, without having to depend on iTunes for providing it with the artwork seperately from the mp3 file?
If the answer is b., a variant of the 1st question is called for:
Does iTunes apply any kind of modification - resizing**, etc. during this cache generation phase?
    Thanks!

    Hi Xi,
    1. Does iTunes first resize** the chosen image file prior to embedding and then perform the embedding operation or is the image embedded without any prior modification?
    1. No.  No operation is made by iTunes, the image will be added as is.
    2.  Yep, the picutre will correctly be displays wathever your ratio is.
    3. My final question is on how the artwork data is transferred to iPod during sync. Does iPod...
    3. Artwork is embedded in the media file, therefore it is transfered as the media file (audio or video).

  • Films - Movies not Working or corrupted in iTunes after changing the  album artwork

After trying to change the album artwork for some movies I own, I realized that such movie unplayable after such change and I cannot even revert what I have done. More, it seems like if you press on the "get info" section of the movie, you will notice that the artwork tab is gone and therefore, it’s like the movie is corrupted after changing the artwork. Any ideas? Has anyone encountered this before?

Just checked and I have the updated itunes 8.0.1 with the poster frame problem.
I finally found a fix for the movie album artwork problem.
After realizing several movies had the same poster frame as one of the movies. I deleted the movie with the common poster frame which had been copied to other movies. The other poster frames changed on the other movies because they no longer had a reference to the file from which the poster frame was copied. So I copied the deleted movie back into itunes and then got to thinking that perhaps there is something else in common with the movies which displayed the same poster frame. I found that I had set the album field to the same title. So I changed the album field file by file, to something else. Then I set the poster frame after playing a few seconds of the video at a point where I wanted the frame set to the current frame. I got a film icon on the movie icon for a few seconds while it changed it. Sometimes I had to repeat selecting the different poster frames for each movie because it didn't take the first time... the second time I selected a different poster frame it was then set to the first poster frame that I selected. So now the movies which all had the same album "Aviation" now are all changed to "Flight Training" Of course, now the poster frames for those movies are all the same poster frame but at least they are correct for the type of movie.
So if the album name is set to the same thing on several different movies they will all have the same poster frame.

  • Movie artwork being replaced by album artwork

A few of the movies on my iPad air are having the movie artwork being randomly replaced by album artwork. For example, my Goodfellas artwork was randomly replaced by Albert King: Born Under a Bad Sign. On my MacBook Pro, in iTunes the artwork shows up correctly. I synced to try to fix this and it did not correct it. The movie still plays fine, this is just annoying which does not help my slight case of OCD. Does anyone know of a fix? (other than wiping my iPad clean and starting over).

depends what music players you use on your computer. i use musicmatch jukebox to do all that updating, and itunes automatically recognizes the changes as soon as it is opened up. you can also do it in itunes itself. right click on the song or songs you want to update, there should be an option to edit or view info or something along those lines. there are different tabs for song info. in musicmatch, it is on the main file screen. don't know right off hand about itunes.

  • MP3 files don't show album artwork unless I move them to another directory. Why?

    I am running 10.8.3.
If I navigate to a folder that has an MP3 file in it, the album art doesn't show in Finder or in Quick Look or Cover Flow.  If I move that file, anywhere, it shows correctly.  There is one artist that I had spelled the name incorrectly, and now that the two albums from that artist are relocated to a new folder because the name changed, the artwork is fine for them.
I have read some other threads about people having trouble embedding artwork, or it not showing up in Finder properly but the issue doesn't seem to be the same as what I am experiencing.  I know the images are embedded because of the fact that when I move them around, they work perfectly.
Is there a cache that can be cleared regarding this perhaps?
    Does anybody have any ideas?

If the album art is embedded in the MP3 file in an APIC frame of an id3v2 tag then the music player will display it.

  • Album artwork changes

I have recently tried to change the album artwork for an episode of Dr. Who I purchase from itunes. Itunes got the artwork for the episode wrong (i.e. the two doctors is the episode but the artwork is from the fox doctor who movie made almost a decade later). So I tried to cut and paste artwork from the actual episode of the two doctors into the appropriate "artwork" tab in the itunes file for this episode. The artwork shows up fine in the slide deck on the itunes application, but I still get the old artwork in the apple tv slide deck. The video file is being streamed to my apple tv so I don't know if that complicates the issue.
    Regards,
Dr. Whovian fan (classic and new series)

did you remove the old artwork from the file? or did you just add the correct artwork to the file ? (the latter would result in the file having 2 artwork files).
if you removed the incorrect artwork from it, then make sure you click the "sync" button in itunes (even though you are streaming) as this will force appletv to see the changes.

  • Album artworks from the itunes store, can I change them?

Many times when I have updated my ipod it will download an image to itunes however the next time it will be different, i.e. sometimes it will download the single cover to a title that has the same name as the album but you really want the album cover, is there anyway you can choose which image will be used and where it is from.
I know I can change the artwork if I have the image on my computer, but I shouldn't have to do that. I should be able to pick which artwork I want if it comes back with more then one. Can any one help?

If your album covers are actually changing then I wonder if you're occasionaly using Windows Media Player with it's "Automatically retrive media information" option selected. iTunes & WMP could be matching different entries. WMP has long supported multiple album versions and a method for picking between them but, as far as I'm aware, iTunes only ever makes one suggestion. You could always pop a feature request into iTunes Feedback.

  • How can I edit/change/update/remove album artwork for a song in iCloud?

    Dear Community,
    my problem is the following.
I'm editing my songs/albums artworks and when I change these artworks, iTunes Match syncs my artworks back to the original ones.
I've tried a lot of things, read a lot of discussions but I didn't find a solution for this problem.
    For example:
I've deleted for an album all of my songs artworks, then set the good one. Then I've done an update for iTunes Match in Store menu. My artworks didn't changed on an Apple TV2
If I just delete the artworks, do an iTunes Match upgrade, the artworks on an iPhone 4S & Apple TV2 remains the same (I've also removed the songs from my iPhone and redownloaded them...)
I used TuneUp iTunes plugin for song identifying. It did a very good job, changed my artworks, my metadata, everything looked good. After a few minutes iTunes Match synced, the artworks restored to the old ones, but the metadata info didn't changed, it is updated in iCloud too.
I'm also tried to get artworks from iTunes, it worked very well for some albums, but again: iTunes Match synced...
I've turned off iTunes Match, done the album editing. Again when I've turned on iTunes Match, the album artworks restored..
In my opinion if I use a cloud service, anything I do locally in my iTunes library, it should sync up to the cloud. EVERYTHING means music, music metadata, music artwork etc.
    So what is the solution?
What can be the reason all of this?
    Someone has the same issue?
    Is it a bug?
    One more thing
In this album all of my songs has the same artwork (David Guetta: One Love)
Look at the BRAVO hits cover

Try this, it has worked for me.
    1. Make a new, empty iTune library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key.
    2. Choose create new library; do NOT have iTunes scan for music.
    3. Enable iTunes Match on the empty library.
    4. Find the tracks with the wrong artwork, highlight them, Get Info and paste the correct artwork into the "artwork" field.
    5. When finished update iTunes Match, then re-launch iTunes while holding down the Option key and chose select library to get back to the "master" library.

  • Some of the album artwork on my iPod is wrong. I've tried to change it many times but it doesn't change. I've decided that the easiest thing to do now would be to NOT display album artwork on my iPod. How do I set my iPod to NOT display album art?

Some of the album artwork on my iPod is wrong. I've tried to change it many times but it doesn't change. I've decided that the easiest thing to do now would be to NOT display album artwork on my iPod. How do I set my iPod to NOT display album art? I've checked the User manual and that doesn't help.

Why don't you, instead of taking time to do that, just backup, and then restore your iPod?
    Just a suggestion..
