Changing App Icons

Hi
I know how to change an App icon in OS X, show package content then resources, then copy the new icon and name it same as old one,
after giving the old icon a different name, but although I do that icons doesn't change, or they change randomly maybe after few days a week
or never, before it was ok but since I used some beta for Yosemite a year ago this problem started to happen, is there any solution ?
strange thing is still my new icon is there with correct name and old icon is there with renamed name but still icon doesn't change in applications

I found it much easier to have my apps on the last page and let the pre-loaded apps stay where they are on the first couple of pages. While I'd prefer to have my apps first, at least they are all together. I found it far too much work to try to move them around another way, plus it shifts some things around in a way that I did not intend.
BTW, I definitely prefer the Fascinate's arrangement of the icons over the Droid X2, which is always in alphabetical order in a vertical non-stop continuum.

Hi. I want to know if you can change the picture/icon of an app. Everyone at my school needs to have an iPad but we are not allowed to have games on there. I want to play games at home but it would be a ginourmous pain if i had to download the apps apps I want to play and then delete them. The teacher at school are going throug our iPads and i was wondering I could change the icon picture to books or something and also if possible change the name.

No, it's not possible to change an app's icon or its name, only the developer of the app can do that.

How do I change app icons without jailbreak?

I know there are apps that create a shortcut, but I actually wanna change them, replace the icons. I tried using iPhone Explorer, but after following directions carefully I could not change my icons. I guess it's because it's a 2010 program... I have an iPad Mini. Anyone know how to replace icons?

You cannot change third party app icons.
If you want to change built-in app icons, there is a way (well, not really change them, but create a new icon in addition to the existing one).
First, you would need to download an app like https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/touch-icon-creator/id357419508?mt=8. This lets you create custom icons for contacts, phone numbers, URLs, etc. You are interested in URLs.
You can create a custom icon then point it to a URL. For example, if you wanted a new icon for Maps, you would enter maps:// as the URL. Then tapping the icon would take you to the Maps app. This works for some of the built-in apps.

Gnome: changing application icon size

Before gnome 3.10,according to wiki, to change app icon size it was necessary to edit "/usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/gnome-shell.css".
From upgrading to 3.10 and now with 3.12,it seems it doesn't work anymore and so I have to keep large icons on my shell.

If you downsize the panel, the icons will be downsized too..
There is also the drawer applet, which can contain the icons...

Next time you accidentally use 3 fingers it will zoom again. Unless you need the feature you're better to turn it off

The date randomly changed and all app icons are white?!?

I updated my apps to their latest version and when the sync was done everything was fine, but somehow out of nowhere my date changed completely and all my app icons are white. Only apps that I did not update had their original icon. My ipod touch 2nd gen is not jailbroken. This happened once before, I updated my apps, and it went back to normal only for a few hours until it happpened again.
What is going on and how can I fix this?

Same thing happened to me! I took it into the apple store and they said its a glitch in the system and that it needed to be restored to original settings. You can do this from itunes, just don't restore from backup, set up as new.
He made a list of the apps I had to make sure he could download them again for me. It shouldnt be a problem with icloud but if you dont have it, i would recommend asking someone at the apple store to do it for you so you dont lose your apps.
Also, mine was great for a while after that but I have noticed that its back to changing the date. It only happens when I let my itouch's battery die completely so I try not to but it is still annoying when it does happen.

How can i change the Director App Icon for Windows?

How can i change the icon for my App for Windows? Director can do this from the Publish Settings. The Custom icon for app doesn't work. I select a .ico file for windows and Director can't attach this to the app.
There is anothe way to do that simple like in Mac with the Contest folder?

However, to answer your original question directly, I suspect there's something wrong with your .ico file as the feature in the publish settings works just fine, last I tried.

Ios7. color change of app/icon

I am hoping someone can tell me how or if we can change the icon/app colors in the new ios7 on our devices. I am not liking the bright white, nor the beige background for my grouped apps. I can only find a invert color switch, but that makes my picture look like an xray. Please advise. Thx!

When I changed my wallpaper, those colors changed as well. Play around with it a little.

Mail.app icon changing brightness for no apparent reason.

I'm seeing a weird issue, where the Mail.app icon is slowly changing brightness over time. Starting normal, then over the course of a couple of hours, goes either brighter or darker.
Restarting Mail.app "resets" it.

I did not see this issue on Leopard.

Could be the problem?
If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your Mail icon functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving/Users/yourname/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

I also forgot to note that this problem also persists with the new iBooks application. I cannot get past the 'Get Started' screen or access the iBooks Store. Again, all top bar menus are unresponsive.

[KDE] I can't change the icons of gtk-apps

I'm able to change the theme of the gtk apps under KDE just fine. What I don't get to work is to change the icon theme, too. The gtk apps always use the default one.

I didn't read that the original Faenza Icon theme is needed, too. Now the next problem is that in Thunderbird the folders are brown and don't use the blue look.
You are on to something here. The key is what GTK engine you are using: oxygen-gtk. That engine has a special hack to apply KDE icons to GTK applications. What it does is actually set gtk-theme-name on the fly, your gtkrc file doesn't matter.
And here is the bug; KDE uses icons from ~/.kde4/share/icons but where does GTK try to find your theme? In ~/.icons. The solution is to symlink your icon theme from ~/.kde4/share/icons to ~/.icons.

App icons have changed appearance

I have downloaded a ton of apps. SOME of the icons have taken on the appearance of some of the other icons. I have deleted the app and reinstalled them. Didn't work. Did a complete reset. No go. Is this a gliche? I synched, no go. I have not upgraded to 3.1 or itunes9. Should I? Why would this phone do this? Is it defective? Has anyone run across this problem? Can I change the icons? Settings app > Notification Center > Messages (you will need to check both the INCLUDE and DO NOT INCLUDE sections). Set the alerts you wish to see.
