Changing Appearance

I have just installed Snow Leopard but I can't say I like it particularly, especially some of the design elements. I particularly object to the white text on dark grey background in dock menus which make the data harder to read.
Ids there a way, either with preferences or third party software to change those menus back to black text on white backgrounds?

AFAIK, not possible. This was a bone of contention during beta testing, so much so, that Apple revised it's Human Interface Guidelines to allow for this obnoxious eye-candy and their attempt to make their computers look like their phones and pads. Hotmail suddenly changed appearance and now presents with the top of the page blue with lines. I have a screenshot...

Running Firefox 15.0. Hotmail suddenly changed appearance and my page is not at the bottom of the screen. The top 5/6 of the page is a series of horizontal blue strips. Text in the blue section is the Windows Live titles like "Home, Devices, Mobile, etc". When I try to compose a new message, text from the blue area partially covers the "To" button, so I have to position the cursor at the very bottom of the button to enter an address. I tried Hotmail in IE and it appears just fine, so it must be a compatibility problem between Hotmail & Firefox. Hotmail has not responded to my email questions. I could understand if this happened at the very beginning of a session, just after I power up, but this happened after I had been active in Hotmail and other sites. Other sites are not affected, just Hotmail, and just in Firefox.

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

AIRHelp Links Pages Styles Change Appearance

Using RoboHelp 9 trial on Windows 7 x64.
The issue:
When displaying external web pages in an AIRHelp Application the page displays correctly for
about 2 seconds and then suddenly jumps to some different styles on some elements.
This makes some of the text change size and become justified full (instead of aligned left).
Obviously this makes the pages look broken.
Example Before (on page load it looks correct for about 2 seconds)
Example After (after about 2 seconds the style jumps to justified and a bit larger)
You can see in this example that it has affected both the heading and the body text
(which are now justified and larger).
I used the Application Help template for this test project.
The default CSS has not been changed much (just some left margin).
Found no "justified" in the default CSS file.
It happens on multiple completely different website links.
Does not happen on all websites.

Happens on both Favorites Links and TOC URL links. (just add to Favorites to test)
The page zoom in AIRHelp does not seem to be related to this.
What am I missing?
Have been using H&M for years and am testing RH9 because of the advanced AIRHelp
features such as the ability to seamlessly incorporate web pages and feeds etc.
Any guidence on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking a look at this.
The issue is not with the RSS feed(s).
The feed for that blog website seems to work fine in the Favorites RSS Feeds.
The issue is with the display of the websites within the AIRHelp application.
Links entered as ToC items, or Favorites Links, or followed from a Favorites RSS Feed - same issue each time.
It only happens with some websites (but most that I have checked).
So I am assuming that the AIRHelp Webkit browser is for some reason applying the styles.
It appears that the built-in browser is the issue.
I took a look at the source code of the various pages to see if I could spot something.
Because it does not affect all websites I am guessing that there is some common thread.
To make my first test AIRHelp project I decided to try to make a sort of Resource Guide.
This would include some topics, and quite a few extenal links (and some feeds).
I really like the idea of being able to put all this in one interface, sort of like the Adobe Help application.

It appears that perhaps there are some issues in the browser engine in AIRHelp.
The feature which most draws me to RH9 AIRHelp does not seem to be working correctly.

Flatten images change appearance

I'm having a problem with two layered files. when I flatten them and they change appearance, that is they don't look the same as the layered file. I'm working in cmyk and the numbers remain the same but the file looks very different. One file I can turn off a levels move and a high pass layer and it will flatten ok. I know its not a profile issue because all my other working files flatten ok and the color setup is the same, Has anyone ever seen this before. I'v been working in PS since 3.0 and never had this type of problem.

In my experience, g ballard's advice will resolve most instances of this issue.
When 100% viewing and merging visible to a new top layer has not worked the image has always had lots of layers with layer masks and different blending modes applied.
Solution in these cases, for me, has been to:
1) Determine which mask boundary is changing when image is flattened.
2) Reload mask as a selection.
3) Expand or contract the selection by 1 or 2 pixels (usually enough).
4) Reflatten the image and evaluate effect of change at 100% scale.
5) Repeat for each mask until you find the selection that is causing the change in appearance.
This works for me.

if you mean the table that is part of the LOV popup then skinning is the only option you have. See the chapter "Customizing the Appearance Using Styles and Skins" of the Web Developer documentation to learn about skinning

Depends on your output.
For WebHelp, you substitute different images for the Books and Pages using the Skin Editor.
For CHM files, you first ensure that Micrsoft HTML Help is your Primary Layout. Then you edit the Books and Pages using the TOC Editor. You right-click them and choose Properties. Then click the Advanced tab and choose the desired image.

Radio buttons and Checkboxes to change appearance when selected

Hi guys!
Help needed.
I want my check boxes and radio buttons when selected to change color from black to "0,64,128", size from 12 to 14 and to become bold.
Also the default appearance for checkboxes is cross, but I need it to be a check mark.
I would be so much thankful if you could give me some advice.

Possible to change appearance in iCal, particularly the To Do Items?

Is it possible to change the appearance in iCal? I'm speaking about mostly the background? (I know you can change the "calendar" colors, but I'm looking for something else.)
1. For example, it is extremely difficult, almost impossible for me to determine in week view or month view which day is "selected" unless I look at the mini calendar in the bottom left (which I don't necessarily have open all the time). The day which is selected, is nearly imperceptibly slightly darker, but I can't tell. Is there a way to change the background color to provide more contrast?
2 And, is there a way to change the color, contrast, readability of the To Do Items in the list on the right? The dates are very clearly labeled with the colors, but the actual item of what I need to be doing (the whole point of it) is in gray font and my eyes are not drawn to such a pale layout for reading. Are there customizable options?
3. Lastly, when I go to "Today" in day view or week view, it always starts the view of each day at 12/1AM and I can only see from 12AM to noon (I have preferences set at show 12 hours) and then have to scroll down to see my appointments in the afternoon. I never have anything scheduled from 12AM to say, 6AM, so its annoying to have to scroll down every time I go to the afternoon. Is there a way to set it to start the view at an hour other than 12 AM?

Why aren't my album, album artist, or artwork changes appearing on my iPhone or iPad?

Fair warning, I'm pretty sure I have a mild form of OCD. I really like to organize my iTunes library the way I like it. Unfortunately the newer updates to the program have seriously hampered my ability to keep things looking the way I like.
That leads me to my question.
Why aren't the changes I'm making in iTunes appearing on my iPhone or iPad after I've sync'd them?
I spend a lot of time combining albums and matching their artwork, i.e. I've combined a lot of the Glee singles into several albums, but all of the work goes away once I've put the music onto any of my iOS devices.
I've changed the sorting options for everything and turned off my iTunes Match. I've made sure none of them are registered as compilations, but nothing has worked. They all look exactly how I want on my computer then separate into a million pieces on my iPhone and iPad.
If anyone has any insight into this, I would really appreciate it. I'm really close to pulling all of my hair out.

I had the same problem time ago but i discovery that not all songs are on itunes store so i did somethinbg easy, go find the songs you want on youtube or somwehere else then make a copy of that album then cut the image of album save into ur computer then go itunes select the song you want to add the albu, atwork go to the album at work tab then add the image you took it before and sync your ipad you will see the album at work in ur ipad, that is what i did and works for me.

The message "Type your password to allow Adobe Acrobat Pro to make changes" now appears whenever I launch Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 on Mac OS 10.6.5. I am forced to enter my Mac password before every time I want to use Acrobat -- very frustrating. The problem did not used to happen. I think I recently installed an Acrobat update which might have caused this problem to happen. I am logged in as an admin user.
Here's what I tried. None of these things resolved the problem for me.
Repair disk permissions.
Restart the Mac.
Deleted the key called selfhealingfilename in SHinit.xml.
How do I resolve this?

Please try following steps:
1. Repair your current Acrobat installation
a. Launch Acrobat
b. Go to Help->Repair Acrobat Installation
c. Check all the components and press Continue
Missing components will be repaired
2. Now, update your Acrobat.
Go to Help->Check for updates
Update your Acrobat to latest version i.e. 942
3. Again , Launch Acrobat. Acrobat would ask credentials for the first time.
4. Quit Acrobat and launch Acorbat again. Acrobat should not ask for credentials now and for all subsequent launches . Please reply if you see a different behavior.

Changing appearance of active spreadsheet cell

This is a question our school secretary asked of me. She has recently upgraded from an eMac to a new iMac. She works quite a bit in spreadsheets. In a spreadsheet, the active cell is outlined in light blue, which she finds hard to see, especially if it is in the middle of the screen rather than at an edge. She would like to change the appearance to an allover color in just the active cell she is working on.
I have been unable to find a way for her to do this. I can change the color of the cell, but it remains with the cell instead of moving with the active cell.
Has anyone found a way to do this?

Well, I suppose it could be done by re-writing the AppleWorks source code , but that's beyond my meagre talents.
There's at least a faint possibility it could be done by a talented scripter using AppleScript, but that would depend on a way to tell AppleScript which was the active cell, telling AppleWorks to fill that cell with a colour, detecting when the cell is no longer 'active' and telling AW to then replace the 'highlight colour' with whatever fill state existed before. It's a fairly simple set of steps, but putting it into AppleScript and having the script act continuously and automatically is another matter.
There are a few scripters who read and participate in this forum, so hope is not lost yet.

don't automatically default back to an alpha of 1 on stopDrag. in
the handler responding to the stopDrag, you would specify the alpha
of the object.
have a look at how this could be achieved below. i've set the
currently dragged object in a variable called currentDrag so that
you can easily add more objects with similar functionality. i've
assumed you've at least got one object with an instance name of
'object' that you wish to be able to drag.

Q10/BBY Link - How to change appearance?

I have the Q10 and the "delightful" new Link software to do one-way transfers of data...
Every time I open the Link software, I get this page full of pictures and videos that on the phone.
Is there a way to hide these and go straight to the productive aspects of the BBY?
It is nice to have a camera, but it feels a bit odd to show pictures of kids, etc everytime I connect the device to update calendars and contacts in the office.

Do you want to save changes - appears twice in master-detail form.

Hello.
Sometimes ago i wanted "Do you want to save changes" message in my own language.
So i created trigger:

I call that trigger in many other triggers like enter_query, ...
Everything worked fine until i created form with master_detail block.
The problem:
I have a form with two blocks. One master, one detail.
If i change something in detail block, go to master block item and press enter_query problem appears.
First i get the message "Do you ..." in my language. When i press NO or CANCEL i get again the message "Do you ..." in original (english) language?
Why is that?
Should i call my trigger somewhere else and not just in enter_query trigger (for this problem) or is checking form_status not enough?

When you create relation, 3 procedures are automatically created for you.
Check_Package_Failure, Clear_All_Master_Details and Query_Master_Details.
When you execute clear_block(no_commit) on the master block -
Clear_All_Master_Details will fire.
If you check Clear_All_Master_Details you will find following code there:
Go_Block(curblk);
Check_Package_Failure;
Clear_Block(ASK_COMMIT); -- This statement causing "Do you want to save changes" to appear
