Changing Apple ID in iCLOUD Setup on iPhone 4S

Recently purchased an iPhone 4S and successfully set up iCloud.  Shortly after, I changed my primary email address.  I updated my Apple ID and iTunes is fine when logging on.  iCloud login on iPhone still has previous email address and I can't locate a place to edit it.  Only option I see is to delete the iCloud Account from my iPhone.  Is that what I must do to get this resolved?  What about any new apps or contacts on phone?  Will they be lost if not backed up prior to changing my Apple ID?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes you need to delete and log in again using the updated details. Your purchases are related to your store account not your iCloud account and so won't be affected at all. Your contacts etc are in iCloud, if you delete the account they will be removed from the phone (actually you'll get an option to keep them, but you don't want to do that) but added back when you log in again (choose merge if you are given the option)

I changed my email address, updated my Apple ID account but the changes aren't being recognized by iCloud on my iphone. When I log into iCloud on my PC I log in with new email address but my phone is not recognizing

You may have to go into settings of your phone and delete icloud account. Just make sure you respond to prompts by keeping information on the phone. Once it is done, just sign in with new id.

  • HT204074 Cannot change apple ID for icloud on my iphone

Was able to change it every where else. The email with the old apple ID is gone and I can't reset the password, so how do I remove the old apple ID?

    To change the account ID:
    https://appleid.apple.com
To change to a different, existing, account on a device:
Settings>iCloud, scroll to bottom of page and tap Delete Account.  This disconnects the account from the device, it does not delete data.  Then log in with the other ID.

How do I "log out" or "sign out" of iCloud on my iPhone? There is an option to delete the account, but I just want to log off. I want to keep the account name for future use.

    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

how do i change my account name(apple id) in iCloud on my iphone?

Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the changed ID.  This will delete the account and any data you sync with iCloud from your phone, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.
Save any photo stream photos to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).

How to change apple id in iCloud

If the old ID is your ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

You have to go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated credentials.  This deletes the account and your synced data from your phone, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing to a different account, your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.

  • Change apple ID for iCloud on iPad

I need to change the Apple ID for iCloud on my iPhone 5 and my iPad 2. I can clear the password but it doesn't give me am option to clear the Apple ID under Settings>iCloud Account Information.

    Hi Friend,
Delete the account (in Settings>iCloud), then set up a new account using her ID.  If you need to migrate any iCloud data to the new account, be sure to choose "Keep on My iDevice" when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data; then when setting up the new account, to merge the data with the new account be sure to choose Merge.
    Hope it helps

Settings-icloud-scroll to the bottom, select delete, if you want to keep the content select keep, otherwise it'll remove it. Then once it is done add the account information for the account you want on that phone.  Your apple ID in settings-store will remain the same and each device can still purchase/use content from that account.

  • How do I change Apple ID for iCloud account?

I changed Apple ID online because my email address changed. How can I change Apple ID for iCloud?

If you renamed your iCloud ID and need to change it on your device, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
