Changing apple ID in the apps store

I have recently changed my apple ID.
When I go the apps store to get updates, it brings up the window asking for for my apple ID password... For my old apple ID.  How do I change this?
Wen going through the settings it seems as though my new ID is recognized everywhere but here.
Help

Did you change your existing id or create a new one ? If you updated your existing id then try logging out of your account by tapping on the id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that refreshes it. If you created a new account then any content bought/downloaded will remain tied to that old account and it can't be copied or transferred to a new account - so only that old account will be able to download updates to its apps.

i cannot change apple id when the app store asks me to update anything

App Store products can only be updated by signing in to the store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to download them. You can't update anything, including your own purchases, as long as there are pending updates linked to the other ID.
If you can't sign in with the other ID, you have to delete all the apps that are linked to it. If you don't know which apps those are, see below.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
              File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
              Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
              Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
              Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    3. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
    4. At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Delete each such item by following the instructions in the Apple Support article linked above.
    5. Quit and relaunch the App Store.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • On my iPhone 6 how do I change iPhone apple id for the app store. it is in someone elses name?

    hello I need help,
on my iPhone 6 how do I change iPhone apple id for the app store. it is in someone elses name?

Why is it in someone else's name?
Did you get this iPhone from that someone else?
If so they should have released the iPhone form their account before giving it to you.
All purchases made with that account will be forever tied to it and will require it to update in the case of Apps.
If nothing has been purchased, you can go into Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID and sign out of their account there , and sign in with your own.

  • I Want To Change My Apple ID In The App Store

I Want To Change My Apple ID In The App Store. Everytime I want to up-date my iphoto & i-movie app it shows a different apple I.D. I have an apple I.D. but when I want to type it in (the field is grey) it won't let me. Please Help?

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.

At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.

  • I have a new i phone and for some reason it has picked up a wrong apple ID in the App Store, its OK in ITunes how can i correct this?

I have a new i phone and for some reason it has picked up a wrong apple ID in the App Store, its OK in ITunes how can i correct this?

The Apple ID for future purchases is in Settings>Store>Apple ID.  However, apps have to be updated using the Apple ID used to originally purchase them.  This can't be changed.  If the App store is asking you to provide a password for a different Apple ID when you are updating apps, it's because this ID was used to purchase it originally.

How can I edit my apple ID in the app store the enable update some applications because it not my own that is showing

It sounds like some apps were purchased using another Apple ID.
ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them.  Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.  Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.

  • How do I change my Apple ID in the App Store?

I have two Apple ID profiles; one Canadian and one US.  I want to only use my US Apple ID.  In my iPad iTunes & App Store settings I can see that I am signed in under my US Apple ID however when the App Store prompts me to update apps, it request the password for my Canadian Apple ID and I can not find any way to change this.
If these Apps were originally downloaded from my Canadian ID and changing the App Store to my US ID would require me to download all my apps again then I would be happy to.  I would be willing to delete my Canadian Apple ID if the is what it takes but I don't know how to do that either.

You need to delete those applications and then download them from the desired Apple ID. This may require repurchasing paid ones.

  • How can I change my apple ID from the APP store so I can update my  app? my computer is stuck with an old email and won't let me change it..

Hello, Im trying to upgrade Imovie and whatever app are about to update in the future, the problem is the my Imac is stuck with an old email on the APP store. I try to change it and nothing happen, when I put my apple ID it send me to change the password and what Im trying to do is to put my new email in the system so would be able to update my computer. You know when you press the update button a little box drop with your email and all you have to put is your password thats where my old email is stuck pls someone help me with that little problem i'll appreciate it... thanks

An Apple ID isn't necessarily "linked" with your email other than for recovery reasons. So, as long as you know the Apple ID password, an old email isn't catastrophic. Apple ID != e-mail.
Now, if it's really bugging you and you really want to change it, if you log in to http://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address, this should update your Apple ID. There will be a couple hoops involved with this (i.e. verification of email change by sending email to rescue/alternate email. Alternate email can't be the same as the new primary. The new primary can't have ever been used as/with an Apple ID. etc...).

  • Why can't I change my apple id in the app store

I have signed into the app store successfully however, when I go to download updates to programs that are on my computer the apple ID that shows up is not mine, and it is unchangable. How do I change this ID?

That Apple ID is stored inside the applications and can't be changed without deleting them and then downloading them from a different one, which may require repurchasing paid applications.

  • I changed my email associated with my apple id.  The app store asks for my old email when updating apps.

When I download a new app, the app store recognizes the new, correct email, however, when I try to update existing apps, I'm prompted with the old email.  Is this a bug?  How can I fix this?

It sounds like you created a new Apple ID rather than changing the old one. Which means that purchases made on the old Apple ID can only be updated using that ID.
