Changing Application currentState within custom components

Question

Hi Gurus,
I am starting development with Flex and would like a little
help on how to perform a currentstate change from within a custom
component. I have created a custom component that consists of a
ToggleButtonBar and a custom login component. When the user clicks
on a button from the togglebuttonbar, I would like to set the
currentstate of the application to the new state. However, I do not
have access to the application to make this state change. Is there
a way to perform this?

Hi fi2itoxlay,
You could do something like this:
1. Create a public function in the mx:script within main
application which do the changing of the state; then simply call
this function within your custom component. This should work as
long the custom component is in the same project as the main
application (a mxml file or as file);
2. You could define an event inside the custom component and
just add an event listener to the custom component from the main
application with a call back (a function defined in the main
application that does the state changing).
