Changing Application Location

Is there anyway to change the location of the application fold to another HD?

Its not recommended to move the Applications folder, or the Apple installed applications. You can, however, move any/all third party applications to another HD without issues. Good luck...

    How to change application store location?

    Step 1: Launch the iTunes program and, if you are logged in, sign-out of your Apple iTunes account (Store – > Sign-out).
    Step 2: Scroll down and click “Change Country” – select the United States flag.
    Step 3: search for the app. I know it has to be a free app. For paid apps you have to use something that is not a CC.
    Step 4: iTunes will now require you to sign-in with your AOL, MobileMe or Apple ID. Instead of logging-in with your your existing Apple ID, click the “Create New Account” button and accept the “Terms and Conditions.”
    Step 5: Use an email address that’s different from the one that’s linked to main Apple account. Under Payment Methods, choose “none” for the Credit Card section, give some dummy address and you’ll then receive a verification email.
    Step 6: Click the link in that verification email and you’re done. To recap, you have now created a US based iTunes account and this will let you you can download any free app from the iTunes store even if the app is not available in your country.

  • HT5467 How to change the location service set up when the icon is not inactive?

    I can not setting up the location services and change individual location service for each application since the icon are all in the dead icon and I cannot change anything. Is there anyway to make those icons in active?

    Here is what I was referring to - when in Control Center, I have the database locations. (sources, targets, OWF etc). Under a database location I selected the connector/location name under Connectors. When I select Deploy Action to Drop the connector/location name will remain. However, if you were to check in the database or the Repository Browser (Locations Report) you will see that the db link is gone. At this point you can safely modify the Locations info in the Connection Explorer (in Design Center). On the other hand, if you want the location to be deleted all together then now you can delete it in the Connection Explorer panel. If you did the prior drop step then at this point all db link info should be gone from the database.

  • Just put my i-tunes library on a 2nd hard drive, how do I easily change the location where the program looks for current songs from the C:/ drive to the new drive without going thru each song individually in the "get info" tab

    I just installed a new hard drive and transfered my i-tunes library to the new drive.  How can I make a bulk change of the location the program looks for the current songs.  I know you can do it song by song from the "get info" tab but I need to do it for all 4500 songs.  I have already changed the location that new files are stored to the new hard drive.

    The pop-up lets you connect to the library file, iTunes Library.itl, on the external drive. This will, in turn, automatically update the preference for the iTunes Media folder to be the iTunes Media or iTunes Music folder inside the iTunes folder on the external drive and it will update the locations of all the content inside the media folder so that it uses the version on the external drive.
    This works seamlessly if all iTunes content was inside the iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder (which was itself inside the iTunes library folder) before you moved/copied the iTunes folder. For content outside the iTunes Media folder iTunes should remain connected to the original location. These files should be consolidated (before or after the move/copy) and in addition, if available the library should be upgraded to the newer layout which places iPod Games and Mobile Applications inside the media folder instead of the library folder. (File > Library > Organize Library...)
    For split libraries there are methods to rejoin them before moving (preferred) or repairing after the fact (e.g. my script) which I can go into if needed.

  • Changing database location per Table at runtime is extremely slow in viewer

    We are using the Crystal Reports 2008sp2 Viewer in windows forms .NET
    application to display various reports based on a Pervasive database.  The
    C# code dynamically changes the database table locations at run time.  The
    location needs to be set for each table since the location may be different
    for each table in the report.
    We have tried to methods to change the location.
    1) Set  the Table.Location property in the ReportDocument.Database.Tables
    collection.
    foreach (Table table in rd.Database.Tables)
    Table.Location = "New Path";
    2) Set the TableLogOnInfo properties.
          TableLogOnInfo logonInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
          logonInfo = table.LogOnInfo;
          logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = dataPath;
          logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.LogonProperties[0] = new NameValuePair2("Data
    File", dataPath);
          logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.LogonProperties[0] = new NameValuePair2("Data
    File Search Path", path);
          table.ApplyLogOnInfo(logonInfo);
    Both of these methods work, but have extremely slow performance.  Both
    methods take between 2 and 3 seconds to execute per table.  Since many of
    our reports have 20 - 30 table references ( sometimes more ), this can add
    an additional 1-2 minutes to the display of a report.
    It seems that the Crystal viewer object is doing some sort of verification
    every time the database location is changed.  We have noted that as the
    location is changed, the database is being accessed by the viewer.  Please
    advise as to how to stop this behavior.  Is there a way to set the location
    without the viewer verifying the change?
    This problem is turning reports that run in the 2008 Report Designer in 3 seconds into reports that take
    many minutes to run.  We will hear nothing but screaming from our 300 customers.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello,
    I have a very similar issue but with Crystal XI and XI R2.
    I'm using Oracle 10g, and changing a couple of properties using the following sequence for each table to change the login information and the table's current view (each view is a portion of the overall table):
    IDatabaseTablePtr table = tables->GetItem(tableN);
    table->SetLogOnInfo(TheApp.GetDataSource(), TheApp.GetDatabase(), userID, pwd);
    char tableLocation[201];
    char tempTable[201], newTable[201];
    strcpy(tableLocation, table->GetLocation());
    // make new table name, put into newTable
    table->PutLocation(newTable);
    if (!table->TestConnectivity())
      ShowCrystalRE_Error(job);
    Stepping through in my debugger, the SetLogOnInfo seems very quick, it's the PutLocation( ) that seems to be taking alot of time.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    This is extremely fast on SQL Server, only noticeably slow on Oracle.

  • HT201210 Why can't I change the location of my device backups?

    Why can't I change the location of my device backups?
    iTunes seems to force me to use my c:\ drive as the destination for all backups.
    Background: I have set up my c:\ drive only for programs - all data is stored on separate drives - including my iTunes library and all media. So, I can't skinny down the c:\ drive any more without uninstalling programs.
    The issue is that my 10,000 rpm, 280 GB - C:\ drive is fast but small and is now FULL after I got about 1/2 way through a 128 GB backup of my ipad.  (Yes, all movies have been deleted off of the iPad to minimize the size of the backup.)
    I deleted the partial iPad backup, moved all the Mobile Applications to another drive, emptied the recycle bin and tried again with my much smaller iPhone.  You guessed it: the io7 update hung and both of my devices are now paper weights.
    Which leaves me f*cked, anyone know how I can un-f myself?

    iTunes movies are not part of an iDevice backup.
    Videos & photos you take with the camera (in the Camera roll) are part of the backup but those should be sync'd to the computer and removed from the camera roll.

  • Not working. Change database location trough VB 6

    Hi,
    I just finished two reports in Crystal 10 using an Access Database (database  location and query are hardcoded in the reports.
    I made a small vb 6 application to launch the reports. Now I need to change database location for the reports trough VB 6.  I have the following code, but it is not working. The reports do not show any data and I do not get any error. I think the problem is with the hardcoded query. The report is designed on this query and the field reference on the reports are like Command.Field1

    Hi Cris,
    It seems that you are having issue with SDK's.
    Post your question in SDK forum.
    [SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio;
    You can download samples from here:
    [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/samples]
    That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all SDK queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thank you for your understanding,

  • How can I change the location for the backup from iphone to itunes?

    How can I change the location for the backup from iphone to itunes? I want to backup to my external harddisk and not the computer itself. How do I do it?

    Moving the iOS device backup location
    Open a command prompt by hitting the start button and typing CMD<Enter> in the search box that opens up, or with Start > Run on older Windows.
    To move the current backup folder from C: to D: (for example) type in this command and press <Enter>
    Move "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
    Where <User> is your Windows user name.
    To make iTunes look for the data in the new location type in this command and press <Enter>
    MkLink /J "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
    If your preferred drive has a different letter or you already have a folder called "Backup" then edit "D:\Backup" accordingly in both commands.
    If you have Windows XP then you'll need a third-party tool such as Junction to link the two locations together instead of the MkLink command. The source folder is C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

  • How can I change the location of my Backups? (e.g. Word files)

    I am wondering how I can change the location of my word doc. back ups. Everytime I make a new word document my computer makes a duplicate titled: " Backup [then the title I gave the word document]." I was wondering if I could make a single file to store all of the back ups. Currently they are in every file that the original is in. Thanks!

    It depends on which version of Windows you are using but it will intitally be downloaded to the C: drive.  The data is initially stored in the following locations:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant\Local Store
    Windows 7 and Vista:  C:\Users\[login]\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant\Local Store
    You will need to get enough free space on the C: drive to allow the download.

  • CS5 Installation - how to change shortcut location

    Using the Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition for automating the CS5 packag
    e deployment is used and works fine. But I need to change the location of the shortcuts. Don't know how to do that, installing into the root of ProgramMenu Folder needs to be customised for each product and subproduct. Any Idea?

    Edit the install.db file for each package.
    eg, for Photoshop, it is located in \Build\Setup\payloads\AdobePhotoshop12-Core.
    The table containing shortcut details is "CreateLocAlias" and the field name is "directory"
    Or you can use a custom action (VBScript or similar) at the end of the installation, whichever method you prefer.

    UPDATE 2: I'm having this issue both on my iMac and my Macbook, so I suppose it's a lion bug and not simply something related to something that went wrong during the update (permissions or something like this). It's both in 10.7 and 10.7.1.
    I'm going to try on my wife's Macbook to see if it's something related to some software or setting I'm using; in the meanwhile, can someone out there try to reproduce this issue? Just open textedit and change the network location from the menu bar (you should create one other than "automatic" for  "locations" to show up just below "dock"): at this point you should get the spinning ball and then a window telling you that textedit just crashed. Try to do a couple of times if it doesn't crash the first one.
    BTW I noticed that textedit doesn't crash if you have the network preference pane open and active ("system preferences" showed on the menu bar) and change the location from the menu bar.
    I think I'm going to give a call to Applecare to see if there's some plan to get this corrected in some next update.

  • Changing Default Location of MY PICTURES folder in Windows 7

    Hi Guys
    I have noticed that in Windows 7 the 'MY Pictures' folder is no longer a sub-section of the 'My Documents' Folder.  I have moved my 'My documents' and 'Desktop' folders within my user profile to a NEW location (another partition) but would like to know how this is now done for the 'My Pictures' Folder also ?
    Normally it would move with the 'My Documents' folder but, as I have said above, the 'My Pictures' now seems to be a separate entity to 'My Documents' as a whole.
    Thansk

    The answer you are looking for can be found at: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/move-my-pictures-to-different-location/ and is where I acquired the information below.
    One way Windows helps you organize your files is to direct different kinds of content to different locations. There’s a Music folder, a Videos folder, a Saved Games folder, and a Pictures folder. Put all your digital pictures in your Pictures folder,
    for example, and that’s where most photo applications will prompt you to open and save your files.
    And as explained in the previous section, Windows Explorer will be more likely to display your pictures as thumbnails if they’re in the Pictures folder (or a subfolder thereof). But what if you don’t want to put your pictures there? Previously,
    I wrote about how you can
    change the location of the My Documents folder , but what if you only want to move the My Pictures folder?
    Since years of digital photos can take up gobs of hard disk space, many people have started storing their pictures (as well as their music) on second hard disks, and it can be a pain to have to manually switch to the new location each time you need to open
    or save a file. The solution is to tell Windows where your Pictures folder ought to be, a
    task that requires a quick Registry modification (make sure to
    backup the registry first):
    1. Open the Registry Editor by running “regedit”
    2. Expand the branches to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders then choose
    My Pictures :
    3.  To edit the value, double click the “My Pictures” registry entry and enter a new path of the My Pictures directory:
    For example, to change to “D:\Pictures”, enter that path to the value data field then click OK:
    The change should take effect immediately, but you may have to restart any open applications before they’ll recognize the new location. To test the change, open Microsoft Paint (mspaint.exe), and select File > Open.  The default folder should
    be the path you entered above.

  • Changing cache location with notepad.

    Hey guys, A while ago, before the option to change your cache location was removed from the PC application, I had set it to a secondary HDD on my PC; seeing as how I have an SSD as my primary drive, and like to limit needless write cycles to extend it's life. Now, I remember whenever the option was taken away; and read somewhere that you can go into the core Spotify files with notepad and manually change the location that Spotify stores this information. Being an old install that had just been updated, I checked the file; and it was already set to my desired location. (I guess the settings just carried over.) Fast forward to this weekend, my failing SSD finally got replaced after a long service life; and I decided to start over with a fresh Windows install. I've tried to dig up the post that explained which file to go to in order to change location of my cache, but I can't seem to find it. I was hoping that somebody knew something about it and was able to drop me a hint as to where to go! Thanks, Andy

    Hi ,
    Inside the spotify installation folder (Usually located under C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify), there is a file called 'prefs'. Open it with a text editor like Notepad++ (or any other one). You used to be able to find it there. The storage.location line might only be available in older versions though.
    Aside from that, its on the list of being implemented as a menu option again.

    Edited by: user10243788 on Apr 25, 2010 6:12 AMPointing the archive log dest (and/or the FRA) to a new location, or enlarging them, will do no good if you are not performing regular housekeeping on the archivelogs. You will just keep knocking down the same problem over and over.
    If you simply delete the archivelogs at the OS level, the database will never know about it and it will continue to think the destination is full, based on records kept in the control file.
    For regular housekeeping, you need to be doing something similar to this in rman:
