Changing Audio that Plays during a Menu

1.) Can the audio that comes with a menu template for iDVD 6 be changed? I am interested in using the "Memories" template and changing the audio that plays during the menu.
2.) If so, what is the best audio format, bitrate, etc. for importing into a iDVD menu?
Thanks.

Sure. Look in the Settings menu for iDVD and you'll see a "well" where you can drop audio files. Lots of audio formats will work, but you may run into a bit of trouble if you use protected songs purchased from iTunes. I'm assuming that you'll be using this for your own personal use, and in that case you can use any song from a CD that you own. Import it into iTunes using any of the iTunes formats (aiff, mp3, etc) and you should be able to drag and drop a copy from the iTunes library into that well. Don't be tempted to reorganize your Library with the Finder while you're there to get your song -- iTunes won't like that at all.
"Best" audio formats? I think you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference among the competing formats, but .aiff is less compressed than mp3 if space is tight on your DVD.

  • How can I control the music that plays during Apple TV photo slide shows?

I don't want to make my parents listen to Breaking Benjamin music as they watch my photo slide shows on Apple TV. Need something more sedate. But if a B.B. song is in my iTunes music library, it is a candidate for random selection as background music for my slide shows. How do I control what music plays during Apple TV photo slide shows?

What I find is really silly, is the fact the music video's are listed under that artists albums in the Music menu. And when you go into the video 'album' (called 'Unknown' unless you change it) there is an option to shuffle the tracks. Clicking this just results in an error message. So, they should either remove that option if it is a video album, or, better yet, GET IT TO WORK. So silly of them to omit this.
    I have submitted feedback.

  • Audio wont play on main menu

Help, I can't get audio to play in the main menu of my IDVD. But it works fine in the submenu. Any ideas?

    Hi
    a. Audio won't play - most common problem is that audio used comes via iTune and DRM-protection silence it.
In iTune collect needed audio into a new PlayList and burn this out as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3). Use the files from this CD in Your projects.
    b. Where does it not play ?
    • On the burned DVD in any DVD-Player
    • On the DiskImage in Your Mac via DVD-player tool
    • In the iDVD application
    c. Can it be so that You use .mp3 or other audio file format else than .aiff 44.1kHz 16-bit (or 48kHz 16-bit) ?

  • Menu audio will play during preview but not when disc is burned.

    Encore CS6.
Menu music plays fine in preview. I know that the file is good. No menu audio after disc is burned. Have tried several different transcoding options. There is menu video too that is working fine.

Here are notes I couldn't find before I posted that; just general re testing methods:
Mounting an iso (or building to a folder) is a great way to test.  There are some differences, but it is a great method prior to burning to a disk.  The main difference is simply computer vs dvd player - autoactivate on a button doesn't work with a mouseover, and you can be fooled into thinking your navigation does, or does not, work.  (Even on the computer, don't use the mouse for testing, use the "remote" in the player controls.)
Encore preview is an emulator, like computer DVD players, that attempts to predict what will happen when a disk is played on a set top DVD player. It has always had issues with some predictions not being accurate. Some inaccuracies are like this one: Encore preview does not work, and a burned disk will. Others are the opposite; it works in Encore preview, and not in a DVD player. The point to be made here is that you cannot rely on Encore preview. You also cannot rely on computer playback of a built image or folder. And, in the end, you cannot rely on playback on one DVD player - some disks work on some players and not on others.

  • Change audio that is attached to a Theme?

I am using the Vintage Vinyl Theme, but don't want the music that it uses. I would like to replace it with a music clip I select. Is there a way to do this?

I found something buried in help that said I could drag any song I wanted into the project to replace what is standard with the Theme. It took away the old audio, but now there is silence. If I Command Click, I, it shows the name of the audio clip I want is there, but nothing is playing.

  • Background audio that plays over multiple menus continously

How do i make a song for example, play in the background of the title menu and continue on even when a button is activated to go to another menu...
More specifically is this possible with a layered menu...

    Welcome to the boards
It is not really possible, there will be a break in the music when moving from one menu to another and layered menus will not work for this either as a workaround.
You can try buttons over video, but even then music will not be smooth and you have no real way of "knowing" which point in the music is being jumped from/to.

  • How to stop the soundtrack while there is a video that playing during the presentation???

please help me... i spent hours and hours trying to figure it out!

You can if fact add an "animation" to the sound file and video file. If you select a video (or sound) you can go to animate and under "Build In" you have: "Start Video/Sound" and under "Build Out" you have stop. If you have a sound that you would like to stop at the same time as you start your video you can tie those two "animations" together. Then you can decide if you want to click to stop the audio or if you want to stop it after a specific period of time.

  • How can I control whether or not an audio files plays when a slide starts?

I am putting together a course and have a welcome audio that plays automatically when the user begins the course. Since that slide has a list of the modules that will be in the course, I would also like to use it as one navigation option - click the "Menu" link on any slide and return to this page.
The problem: Every time the page is hit the audio plays.
The question: How can I set the audio so it only plays the first time the page is entered but not again?
I have created a variable called "PlayWelcomeAudio" and set it to "Y" initially, then have an Advanced Action script that changes the variable to "N" when it is clicked (progress through the course is linear so there is only one option available to the user at this point. Clicking that link opens the next page and sets "PlayWelcomeAudio" to "N".
I can see that the variable has been set correctly (when I start it is "Y" and when I come back it is "N") but I'm not seeing anyplace where I can set the audio file so it doesn't play.
I tried setting cpCmndMute to "1" but that didn't work because it is apparently a global setting and I didn't get any audio playing anywhere after that.
I'm not looking to pause the timeline or anything like that. I just want the audio to play the first time but not the second and subsequent times that page is hit.
    Thoughts? Suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Michael

Attach your welcome audio to an object that is not seen (e.g. a highlight box set to 0%) and use your Advanced Actions and variables to HIDE this object ON SLIDE ENTER if the user returns to the same Menu slide at a later point in the course module.
This should mean that the first time the user gets to that slide, the audio will play.  But all subsequent times they return to that slide, the object will be immediately hidden on entering the slide, which will mean that the audion does not play and all the user sees are the menu options.
Your alternate strategy would be to have two slides that look almost the same.  The first one has the audio, and the second one doesn't.  Your TOC item for Menu, and any other links in the project that point to the Menu, would go to the second slide without audio.  The user will be none the wiser as long as you work out the navigation.

  • Captivate 7 HTML5 background audio not playing

The issue seems to be related to a slide with background audio that plays after a Random Question slide. I can see the playhead moving but the audio is muted. It seems to be a bug with Captivate 7.
To duplicate the issue, create a new Captivate 7 project, insert 2 Blank slides, each with Background Audio. Create a question pool with 2 multiple choice questions and insert a Random Question slide between the 2 previously created Blank slides. When playing in HTML5 from the start (F11), the second background audio does play (is muted).
I'm using Chrome in Windows 7.

    Sreekanth,
I think I've found a workaround for this issue. I’m finding when audio is placed on each question slide in the pool, the audio on subsequent slides play. The audio on the question slides has to be different from audio used on non-question slides (but all the question slides can use the same audio). Also, the question slide audio can be a very short and silent piece of audio, so nothing is heard on the question slide itself.

  • Audio selection in Cs5.5 Encore auto plays rather then just changes audio track

I am an Encore newbie after moving from DVD SP to Encore for blu ray menu authoring. Ive read and re-read the help files and they seem to be the same for Encore versions going back to at least cs3 for this issue ... so i must be doing something wrong or Encore just cannot do a very basic thing...
I am building a blu-ray with a singel video track and 2 audio tracks. I am trying to link a menu to allow a user to select a 5.1 or 2ch version of audio for a feature film. All shoudl be straightforward. i have a menu with several buttons. Each button links to an audio track in my timeline.
However, when i test my links, instead of just changing the audio and returning to the menu (as per the instructions in the help files ), the film plays from the beginning.
The correct audio track is played, but that is not my intention at that point. I want the user to choose the audio track and then allow the user to press another play button or go to another menu and back again before the film starts.
So how do i just change the audio track but not play it there and then ?
The help says use 'specify link' so i choose that option and select the timeline, yes, select the audio track 1 or 2, yes. But there is no different way to do this if i actually wanted to play the track at that time as well. What is the fundemental bit i am missing here ? Something to do with button type or some werid overide setting i am missing ? Can Encore actually do this ? its rather frustrating having come from using DVD SP which allows you to script everything and set gprm/sprm registers, to a program that does not seem to allow you to do anything beyond very very basic authoring.
Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

To return to menu after changing the audio or any subtitle track, you should select the desired menu in the Specify Link option and change the audio and subtitle accordingly.
In the example above, what I have done is, I went to the Specify Link, chose the menu as the target and also changed the audio track there and clicked OK
So here, after pressing Button 3 (Item 3), I would return to the menu and my aduio would be reset to audio track 2.
After that, whatever timeline I play, that would be played with audio track 2.
That is just a small example to show how it is done. Set the navigation as you like.

  • Premiere Pro CC freezes on a frame during playback, but audio keeps playing?

    Hi,
First time poster, long time visitor to the boards. Running a new Mac "Pony Keg" (I think calling it a "trash can" invites bad performance ) with OSX 10.9.5.  Here's a recurring issue: I am playing back a sequence and then it will freeze on a frame (different everytime) and the audio keeps playing. I can stop the playback and it will continue to play, but the frame is locked in. Next, I'll quit out of the app, and try to reopen, but nothing happens because Premiere never actually quit. I'll pull up Force Quit window and it reads as "not responding." I'll Force Quit, relaunch the project and things will work again for a while, and then I need to do a whole reboot.  Any thoughts on what might be causing this freeze frame issue or why Premiere won't actually quit? I've seen these posts in some various threads, but not these two issues in the same thread. Thanks in advance for any help and insights offered!
    Best,
    Tracy

    Hi Tracy,
    I would suggest these things:
Do this first: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
If that doesn't help, Change the Video Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only under File > Project settings > General. Delete previews after clicking on OK.
    If nothing helps, try this:
    Go to the following locations:
Location 1: When in Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Location 2: Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
    Location 3: Documents > Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe'
Launch Premiere, accept the License Agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces, keyboard shortcuts and media cache.
    Thanks,
    Rameez

  • Audio stops playing on page change

Audio stops playing on page change if horizontal sliding only is checked. But it works when it is unchecked (InDesign CC)  I would like it works in both cases. Is it possible ? I know it was not possible a few months ago...
Have another question : audio controller doesn't update on page turn even if the audio file is linked to the first one. Any idea ?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Alexmamba,
I can't see how you would insert the coding for this option.  You'd need markers for the start and ending of any particular chapter.
Is this a book related to music?  As a reader, I'm not sure I would want to listen to music the entire time I'm reading, unless there was an option to turn it off.  It's like webpages that automatically play music when you visit the site.  What the author of the site thinks is great music is usually distracting to the reader.
My intention is not to be rude, by the way.  Just putting the comments out there for consideration.

Find another Mac and check that the A&H works, report back.
You should also consider a decent external interface, recording off the minijack is the worst choice.
