Changing Automaticaly WPA key After/Every hours  Airport / Widget

Hello all,
I was wondering if there is a way or an app that could change the WPA key (of Aitport) automatically, either at regular intervals or else.
Thanks

I'm not a wireless security expert, but I do read a bit. I guessing that you used a pretty weak password.
I don't know if what you propose is possible, but I suspect it's not in consumer level electronics. People who do security for a living don't find it 'tedious'. It's a fact of doing business. I don't see where it would be workable on a network with more than just a couple of devices. Recent history has shown that just about every wireless security method chosen will eventually get hacked. Wireless is insecure by nature and should not ever be used if a network must be 'secure'. Reference TJMaxx.
The acceptable risk factors can be adjusted for by taking the time to set up and use the highest levels available today on the consumer market, even if this means buying later model wireless equipment. At present, the best consumer level of wireless security is WPA2. I've still got clients running wireless wide open because they can't be bothered, or they are running WEP because that's the level on the router the phone company provided. Those are the targets for the War Drivers.
Since even WindowsXP with Service Pack 3 can now use WPA-AES, if the hardware supports it, then there is no valid reason not to upgrade your wireless hardware to that standard. The problems I run into is with clients who have to maintain lower standards for older equipment, then worry that they can be hacked. You don't get it both ways. If the old laptop can only do WEP which has been cracked since 2001 then chuck it or get a different wireless card for it.
Here is a related thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1852904
As a side note: every demonstration I've bothered to watch on YouTube that purports to having cracked WPA wireless is an exaggeration. There are methods available to see some of the data in the stream, and guess the rest, and then run a dictionary attack to eventually be able to login to an access point. When you use a 26 digit alphanumeric password, the time it takes to actually get the password becomes many years using several computers 24x7. The resources for this kind of hack wouldn't be cheap and probably not in your apartment building or on the neighborhood block (think governments). Running VPN deals with this pretty well - re-encrypt the data in the tunnel that's inside the encrypted connection.
Only the people who update their equipment, and their OS will have any sort of protection over time. People who don't become roadkill.

If you have access to this site you have access to the documentation: there's a link from the OTN home page. For your convenience, here is the link to the DBMS_JOB docs: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96612/d_job.htm#999107
You don't say which version of the database you have - this the 9i docs, but the 817 docs are also on OTN. Besides, I don't think DBMS_JOB has changed much.

  • Exchange 2013 disconnects externally after every hour but works fine internally

    Hello All,
I have a very strange problem in my office. At the new years eve, there was a disconnection in our Internet from our ISP and everything came back online again after 1 hour. before this happened everything was working fine such as externally all the mobile
devices were able to connect to exchange 2013 and event owa was working fine and laptop devices as well. All was good, but once the disconnect happened, i am only able to access my emails over 3 G connection but not over the ISP connection, what i mean from
that is that if i try to connect to owa or my outlook from home DSL connection i cannot connect but with my 3g connection on my phone i can connect and everything works fine. i have re issued the certificates and installed them again, but still the same thing,
after every hour or sometimes less the exchange 2013 sort of disconnects and starts working when i restart the CAS server where the traffic is routed to.
Has any one faced this issue, please help, i was thinking that something wrong with my firewall as i was not even able to connect to my ssl vpn so i thought that firewall is culprit, but i have replaced the firewall as well and still the same issue.
Please help, i am trying to troubleshoot this problem since last 10 days but with no luck.
    Thank You.

Have you checked the network settings? Do you have multiple network adapters? May be DNS related also. Check, if you have configured DNS correctly.

How do I change the dimension constraint key after I copy and paste or after the dimension is created? The reason is that the dimension I copy and paste has constraints named as "COPY_OF_RP_MERCHANT_UK" (I would like to be remove the COPY_OF)

Right-click on the dimension and select Editor. In the editor, click on the Edit menu and select Table Properties. Click on the constraints tab and rename the constraints.

  • Will I have to Buy a Pro Key After Every QT Revision???

Help me understand...if I buy a QT Pro activation key today for QT v7.03, will I have to buy an another activation key ($30 from Apple) to get the Pro functions to work on the next version of QT (e.g. 7.03 is replaced by 7.04 or 8.0)?

Apple's history regarding the "Pro" upgrade has been very consistent since version 4.
You key will be good until version 8 is installed on your computer.
Incremental updates will not require a new registration.

  • Installing Sybase SQL Anywhere license keys after initial installation.

    Hi,
I installed Sybase SQL Anywhere 16 before I actually received the valid License Key. So during the installation I've used the license key provided by the instructions.  Afterwards, I've received the purchase license key.  Do i need to reinstall SQL Anywhere all over?  Or can it just continue to function on that license key?  From what i understand, I can not change the license key after the installation was complete.  I would have to completely uninstall and re-install SQL Anywhere 16. Is that correct?
    Thanks
    Aron

    Hi Aron,
I would have to completely uninstall and re-install SQL Anywhere 16. Is that correct?
No, you don't have to do this in SQL Anywhere 16 - you can change SQL Anywhere editions by changing the license key on the accompanying server executable license file (e.g. dbsrv16.lic) with the Server Licensing Utility (dblic). You can use the "-k" switch in order to specify a new key:
    dblic -k <reg_key> dbsrv16.lic

    (1) I would like to know why the NTFS server keeps dying after every hour or so.
    (2) How I can avoid this from happening again.
    Thanks.

You need to make sure first that if you have enough memory. See our installation guide for memory requirements. If you have your Database on the same machine as iFS, you need at least 512 MB of memory.
If the problem still exists, we need more information to diagnose what is wrong. Can you provide your NTFS log file?

  • WPA key erased after every shutdown

    Hi
I have two wifi connections setup on my laptop:
CTO (for when I'm at uni, WPA-PSK)
frogs (for when I'm at home, WPA-PSK)
I do not have any problem with the connection "CTO", but I can't say the same with "frogs":
Every time I shutdown my PC and then turn it back on, I cannot connect to the network "frogs"!
I have noticed that every time, the WPA key of the network frogs is replaced by 0s.
I therefore need to put the original key back, and then it works fine...until the next shutdown.
I tried to lock the controls of the network connections, but on the next reboot, I find them unlock!
I tried to delete the connection and then create it again, but that did not solve the problem...
Any ideas on what I can do?
    Thanks
    MacBook v1   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Or Internet Connect/Networks... wherever you made them in
    the 1st place?
yes, that's what I was talking about.
(ie: no save password box when creating the connection)
Have you tried the Menu Item... Repair Keychain or whatever
    it's called?
yes, I did a verification, which found an error:
    Verification started
Checking keychain configuration for Timothy Stubbs (user ID=501)
    Home directory is /Users/Tim
    Checked login keychain
    Checked password for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
Settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain may cause the keychain to be locked
    Current values: lockOnSleep=no, autoLock=never
User differs on ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.plist, should be 501, owner is 0
    Checked default keychain
    Checked keychain search list
    Checked contents of ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked contents of /Library/Keychains/FileVaultMaster.keychain
Problems were found; you should choose the Repair option to fix them
    Verification failed
I then did a repair which was successful.
After that, I tried to delete & re-create the connection hoping that the ownership of the file was causing the problem...but after a reboot, same problem
It asks for a password, but surprisingly, the admin
    password does not work...
I just checked, it actually ask for the "keychain password".
I don't remember setting that up...and if I did, I most likely put the same as my admin password.

Every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac. I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back.

I would start with some basic troubleshooting.
    REPAIRING DISK PERMISSIONS -
NOTE: refer to article "About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature" found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1452 - for the actual apple article on these step. ----
    - click finder in the bottom dock, and in the window that opens, select applications in the left column - scroll through until you see the 'Utilities' folder and double click to open it.  Then double click on 'Disk Utility'
    - When prompted to select a disk volume or image, select the 'Macintosh HD' in the left column
    - ensure the the "first aid" tab is highlighted blue in the middle of the screen
    - click the button at the bottom that says 'Repair Disk Permissions'
    - this process will take a few minutes to run.  It will indicate it's done, by scrolling to the bottom of the "details area" displaying 'Permissions repair complete'
Dan Frankes has written an excellent article for Macworld on "Permissions" and the need to repair them - see - http://www.macworld.com/article/52220/2006/08/repairpermissions.html.    Another good web site is - http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/durepairfns.html.
    REPAIRING DISK - About OS X Recovery - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718.
    - restart your computer hold down command + R keys on the keyboard to boot you into Lion / Mountain Lion Recovery mode
    - select english as your main language then the continue arrow
    - select "Disk Utility" on the resulting screen then 'Disk Utility' ---
    - When prompted to select a disk volume or image, select the 'Macintosh HD' in the left column
    - ensure the the "first aid" tab is highlighted blue in the middle of the screen
    - click the button at the bottom that says 'REPAIR DISK' .......NOT "Repair disk permissions"
    - this process will take a few minutes to run.  It will indicate it's done, by scrolling to the bottom of the "details area" displaying "The Macintosh HD appears OK"
If you get any other message OTHER than "The Macintosh HD appears OK", like "the Macintosh HD was repaired successfully" run the "Disk Repair" again, until it displays  "The Macintosh HD appears OK".
Once done, restart the computer as normal

  • Problems auto-connecting after sleep & startup (Changed from WPA to WEP)

Okay, I know there have been several issues similar to this, but after two days of sifting through posts, I still can't resolve this.
A few days ago I switched my AirPort network security from WPA to WEP-128. This was required to allow my Nintendo DS to connect to the netwrok, by the way. After the change, two similar, but slightly different problems started:
My 15" PowerBook G4 no longer auto-connects to the network at startup. The network is listed in the drop-down, and connects with no problem when I choose it manually. The computer seems to have no problem re-connecting after waking from sleep, which is odd because...
My other PowerBook, a 12" G4, won't auto-connect at startup AND won't re-connect after sleep. As above, it has no problem connecting using the Keychain once the network is selected from the drop-down.
So far I have tried, on both machines:
    - trashing the system airport prefs
    - deleting and resetting the network's keychain entry
    - repairing the keychain (no errors found)
    - turning off some unneeded power mgt options
    - disconnecting USB peripherals
I have also reloaded the software on both my AirPort Extreme base and my AirPort Express hub, as well as restarting both hubs. I've also made sure that AirPort is at the top of the network connection list.
Both laptops are running 10.4.3 and have all the latest software updates installed.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks.

Both of these replies are helpful, in that they help confirm something I figured out this morning, almost accidentally.
One thing I didn't mention was that during the change from WPA to WEP I changed the network password. Now, I assumed that since the Keychain seemed to be working and I could get on the network manually without needing to enter the password each time, that meant the new password had correctly propagated throughout the system.
So, this morning I go into the Network settings, switch from Automatic to Preferred, select my network, look at the properties, and notice that somehow it has way too many bullets for that to be the correct password. I re-entered the password and that seems to have solved the problem. The new password I had entered somehow didn't make it into this setting. I guess trashing the network prefs, or renaming the network would have had the same effect.

  • Airport Extreme requests new IP almost every hour

I bought a new TV (Samsung)that accesses the internet. I have an airport extreme setup with a password. Almost everyday I have to tell the TV the password again. I called the TV manufacturer (Samsung) and asked what to do. They said to get a static IP address from my internet provider. I called my internet provider. They said that my router was requesting a new IP almost every hour.
Is there a way to stop the airport extreme from doing this?
My cable modem (Motorola) and airport extreme are left ON 24/7

Do you have Comcast as your ISP by any chance? I have been experiencing some problems with my AEBSn and comcast as well. I've read in some other threads that there is something about Airport wireless routers and Comcast dynamic DHCP. Comcast will tell you that it's not their problem because if you can connect to the internet by plugging your computer directly into your cable modem using an ethernet connection, then it's not the modem. Apple will tell you it's your ISP not giving your wireless router a good IP. after countless hours of being on the phone with Apple and Comcast and rebooting my modem and AEBSn several different times and ways, someone at Comcast FINALLY told me to do something that worked. Here's what I did. Maybe it'll work for you:
With my computer on, the AEBSn on, and the cable modem on, First, Unplug your cable modem. Wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in and wait for the lights to come back on (not sure what kind of modem you have, but there will be a couple of lights that should come on and be steady and at least one light that will come on and flicker a bit).
Next, unplug your AEBS and leave it unplugged,
    Next, restart your computer.
Next, plug the AEBS back in WHILE your computer is starting up. Don't wait for it to completely start up. (I plugged mine back in right after I heard the "bong" sound when my Mac was starting back up.)
That worked for me at least.
your IP address on your AEBS will still seem like it's not right but at least it works (hopefully).
    Good Luck!
