Changing background/text colours to black/white

Hi,
Got a mate who has just bought a shuffle, and downloaded Itunes. Problem is due to problem he has with his sight, he can only see text on the PC when the background is black, and text is black, hence the reason for getting a shuffle (no screen) . Is it possible to change the background/text settings on Itunes to switch them around? He has many other software on the laptop where the colours are changed, but Itunes, amongst some other Lotus appls, cannot change. Any ideas anyone, this will stop him using his Shuffle, and have to sell it if he can't see the Itunes software properly.
Cheers
Andy

hi Andy!
this is not anything that i've ever looked into before ... my
b guess
is that it may be possible to customise the displays using the itunes for Windows software developers kits:
http://developer.apple.com/sdk/
... or it might also be possible to enlist the help of one of the SDK gurus to get a display plug-in written for your friend.
I don't see much action from the SDK people here, but i recall seeing more activity on the various matters over in "using itunes". if you don't get any more replies from here over the next couple of days, maybe try reposting over there?
love, b

  • How to keyframe from colour to black & white

    I am trying to do a video from present then moved to the past. So I am starting a clip from colour, then slowly it turns into black & white.
    I have 2 questions:
    1) How do I keyframe the above effects ?
    2) Instead of using the Sepia effect, is there other effects to make the video black & white ?
    Thanks

    Use the desaturate filter. Open the clip with the filter applied into the viewer and in the Filters tab keyframe the values from to go from 0 up to 100 to be fully black and white.
    Thanks Tom, it works !!

  • Colour and Black & White Images

    Hello,
    I was just wondering about how can i classify or check if:
    an image is colour or black and white?
    Thank you very much for your help.

    Couple of ideas....
    Some graphic file formats give the number of
    colours.
    if that is 2, then it's a monochrome picture
    But I think the real question you're asking is, how
    can I tell if an image is
    grey scale.
    You'd have to go through each pixel in the image, and
    check.
    When specifying colours in RGB, grey colours are
    easy enough to check.
    Eg.
    ( 0, 0, 0 ), ( 100, 100, 100 ), ( 148, 148, 148
    )..... ( 255, 255, 255 )
    So, if I'm correct.... the following function would
    check a single pixel....
    public boolean isGreyScale ( Colour aPixelColour )
    int r = aPixelColour.getRed();
    int g = aPixelColour.getGreen();
    int b = aPixelColour.getBlue();
    if ( ( r == g ) && ( g = b ) )
    return ( true );
    else
    return ( false );
    }regards,
    OwenThe problem is that my program is a image searcher tool.
    I have a large number of images and i need a good searching technique. If i have to go through each pixel in every image, it will take too long for an effective application.
    thank you very much for your help

  • Open Photoshop image from PDF into Photoshop and change cmyk text to 100% black

    when I have a supplied PDF file that has cmyk text, I open the image in Photoshop but I don't know how to change the cmyk text (some very small and some large) to 100% Black. I used to know the short cut key to do this but I can't remember. I used to use the marque tool then use a short cut key that would knock the cmy out of the k. Can some one please tell me how I can achieve this in a flattened photoshop file opened from PDF into Photoshop. Thanks

    One way to do this:
    Use a hue/saturation adjustment layer, click the Colorize box and drag the Lightness slider to -100. The black will go to C:0, M:0 Y:0, K:100. I'm not aware of a shortcut for this, perhaps someone more informed could help there. You would only want to apply it to the text, clipped to a separate text layer ideally, but if your file is already flattened you could apply it via a selection/masking.

  • Colourizing a black/white photo

    Is there any way to put some colour in a black and white photo?

    Switch mode to RGB or CMYK
    Make a new layer on top, and set blending mode to color and begin to paint. If the color is too bright set the opacity of the layer to something less than 100%.

  • Change Background to White & Text To Black

    Hello,
    I am trying to use FCP7 to change my background to white (rather than black) and my text to white.
    I used View -> Background -> White and then changed my text colour to white.
    Everything seems fine in my timeline, and is rendered.
    But when I go to Export video, the export has a blackbackground and no text.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Nick, I asked a friend about Color Matte. You were right. The next step is chose Color Solid then change that color from blue to white. Then add a new track and insert slug with the white color matte and all is good! Thanks!

  • Change background colour of uitextfield

    Where is the color picker for a uitextfield background color? I can change the text colour but not the backgrounds. Maybe this isn't possible?
    Jazmyn

    Hello all,
    If I may, you need brackets around the UIColor call :
    aTextField.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor];
    Also, if you use Interface Builder, you can do the same thing in the "background" edit option...
    Note, if you choose a "rounded" (i.e a textfield with rounded corners), it won't really set the backround color of the textfield, it just kind of adds a "contour" to it (it actually fills the rectangle in which the textField is drawn)...

  • Is it possible to change text colour in code view?

    Hi all,
    Not sure if this is possible as never seen it myself, but is it possible to change the text colour in the code of the html?
    A site I am building at the moment is for a school who want to be able to edit text / links occasionally, and as they will only be using something like notepad and have no html knowledge between them whatsoever, I thought if I could highlight bits in the code which are 'not to be played with' it would make everyone's job a lot simpler!
    Possible or not?

    Can the comments only go at the beginning of a line, or can they, for example go after say a <p> tag but before the page text? (If you get my meaning!)
    Eg <p><!--edit from here--!>welcome to our website<!--up to here--!></p>
    Yes, you can, but you need to make sure the HTML comment tags are correct. What you have done won't work, but this will:
    <p><!--edit from here-->welcome to our website<!--up to here--></p>
    Notice that the exclamation mark is only in the opening comment tag. Not in the closing one.

  • Need to change background to white

    I need to change backgrounds of jpg files to white.  Can someone tell me how to do this?  I use Photoshop CS4.  I am a novice woth Photoshop.

    Sounds like you want to select your subject then remove the background.  This is a fairly common operation, for example to put subjects on different backgrounds (different in your case is white).
    See this video by Russell Brown for ideas on masking a subject from a background:

  • Printing a black & white photo

    Hi all,
    I'm not sure whether this is the right category but here goes.
    I have scanned an old photo using my HP Photosmart C4580, into Photoshop and changed the now, sepia colours to black & white which is fine.
    The problem arises when I then try to print it on the same printer, as it doesn't come out black and white, it is printing with a distinct blue tinge so obviously it is not using the black cartridge but is trying to cobble something using the colour cartridge.
    Is there a means of forcing it to print in black & white, i.e. ONLY use the black cartridge.
    Before you ask, I am on WIndows XP SP3 (which I don't think should make any difference) and I haven't tried removing the colour cartridge as I have a feeling that it might complain that it is missing a cartridge and then possibly get stuffed up when I put the colour cartridge back in.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Regards

    OK, there are a few issues here.  First, the cartridges are regionalized and there are four different regions and cartridges and printers are not compatible across the different regions.  If you bought the printer in the UK and moved to New Zealand then you will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.
    As for the color vs.. black vs.. photo cartridges, your printer can use several different combinations.  The cartridges are as follows:
    Black:  Contains pigmented black ink.  This is excellent for plain paper text but is not compatible with glossy photo papers.  The drop size is ~3x larger than the color or photo drops since this cartridge is optimized for text.  When photo paper is selected this cartridge will not be used.
    Color:  Contains cyan, magenta and yellow dye based ink. The dye based ink is compatible with plain paper or photo paper.
    Photo:  Contains light cyan, light magenta and black dye based inks.  Used in conjunction with a Color cartridge the combination can give more detailed B&W prints and less "grainy" light areas such as color sky and face tones.
    For your case a working color cartridge would likely print fine B&W photo's, but if you did a side by side comparison with a print made with the color and photo cartridges installed you may see an improvement.

  • Text Colour

    Hi All
    Can anyone tell me how to change the text colour in android
    The default is blue but I need black
    Thanks

    Just tap a text annotation you have created, and a context menu should appear that allows you to choose a new color. Once you select a new color, that will then also be the default color used for new text annotations you make.
