Changing bpa files to mp3

my girlfriend recently imported her itunes library to her external harddrive, she wanted to put them back on the computer again, but when she did half of her itunes worked because most of them were bpa files. is there a way to convert them or encrypt them into mp3 files?

*but when she did half of her itunes worked because most of them were bpa files*
They worked because they were bpa files?
If they were MP3 files, they still are unless she did something to change them.
Right click - open with and select iTunes.
Tick Always use this to open this file type.

  • Changing library files to MP3´s

    Hey everybody.
I just bought a new MP3 dj controller for my computer but it is only compatible with MP3 and wma files. Is it possible to change my library to mp3 instead of the format they are allready in now??? I´ve changed my import format so that i dont have to do it in the future:-)
I hope this is possible. Thank you very much for your time and help.
    Heine

You can convert the songs to MP3 in iTunes. However just be aware that converting will create a duplicate of every file in your library. If you don't want to keep the originals you'll have to delete them manually. To make it easier to delete the duplicates in one go, right click at the top of any column in the library and choose "Kind" from the list. Sort the library on Kind and select everything that isn't an MPEG audio file: How to convert a song to a different format

  • Convert AAC files to MP3 in iTunes?

On my Mac, I can download from the internet in either MP3
or AAC. I can also change MP3 files to AAC. But, can I
change AAC files to MP3? I'm sure Apple had me do this one
time to override some iTunes error, but I can't seem to do
it now. I used this MP3 format for a long time so a lot of
my downloaded songs are in this format. Now I'd like to
change them back to AAC because it says I can't make a CD
from MP3 files. Can I change the format or is there some
way I can make a CD with MP3 files? I think I did it before
on my old computer....I MUST have done it before because so
many songs are in MP3 but it says I can't do it on the new
    mac.

    Janice.
You can convert AAC files to MP3 by using the Advanced > Convert menu. However, you must first go to the Preferences > Advanced menu and change "Import Using AAC Encoder" to "Import using MP3 Encoder". This setting is used for both importing and converting. When you are finished converting, change the Preferences setting back to the encoder you prefer for importing.
You can burn an MP3 CD if your CD player can play that format. You can fit a lot more songs on an MP3 CD than an Audio CD, but not all CD players can play an MP3 CD. Just go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced >Burning and select the type CD you want. Note that songs must first be converted to MP3 format to burn to an MP3 CD. If your songs are in AAC format, iTunes converts them on the fly to AIFF when burning an Audio CD, but cannot burn them to an MP3 CD unless you convert them to MP3 files first.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I enable all sound files wav,MP3 on windows 7 64-bit change system sounds

How do I enable all sound files wav,MP3 on windows 7 64-bit change system sounds it will only give me the option to choose wav?

Windows 7 uses .wav (wave) files for the sound events. The default folder that Windows 7 uses to store the sound files in is located at C:\Windows\Media.
You cannot use a MP3 file but there are lots of (WAV to MP3 converters) available on internet which can help you to convert MP3 to wav  serving your purpose of changing system sound.

  • Toshiba 20GB F series - How to change files to mp3?

    Hello :)
This is my first post here. I have had +Toshiba 20 Gb F series+ for over 4 years. Recently it has been acting weird, the directional buttons weren't responding and I decided to back up all my files. So I made a copy of everything I had on my Gigabeat on the hard drive. My GB died 2 days a go (rip) and I tried to listen to my music on the hard drive but the windows does not recognize the format.
So my question is how do I change the format of the files back to *Mp3*? I asked this question in others boards and they told me to post it here since you guys are more familiar with this problem. If you happen to know the answer can you please tell me a step by step instruction? Like what program I need to use and etc.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    > I asked this question in others boards and they told me to post it here since you guys are more familiar with this problem.
First of all here in the forum you will meet the same guys like in other forums ;)
Only one difference is that here are more Toshiba notebook owners as in other forums :)
But I dont know why we should be familiar with such issue ?:|
Anyway to be honest I dont understand what the problem is.
I mean you made a backup of your files (what files?) and now you want to convert it to MP3???
Generally if you want to convert some audio files to mp3 then you will have to use an special tool.
In internet you will find a lot of different tools which are able to convert the audio files to different formats
Just google for such free tools.

  • Can i change the file type on itunes? they arent compatible with my mp3

is there a way to change the file to a wma or mp3? please help before i brain myself with the keyboard ^^

wma is Windows Media Player format so no to that. mp3 can be done of course. In the importing section of preferences you can set what kind of file is created when ripping CDs.

  • Changing wma music files to mp3?

I am transferring songs from my PC to my mac and some are wma files that I need to change to mp3 so that I can put them in my itunes library and add them to my ipod. Itunes won't open wma music files on my mac....does anyone know how to transfer them from wma to mp3? (I tried clicking on "get info" and just changing from .wma to .mp3, but that didn't work....I need to convert somehow)
    Thanks so much!

Use EasyWMA to convert them. iTunes will not do this in Mac OS X, and no Mac software will if the WMA is protected.

  • How do I stop QuickTime from changing music files to movie files?

I use iTunes exclusively for music & have recently noticed that downloaded files (usually midi files) are showing up in my iTunes library as QuickTime movie files. I usually use Firefox for music downloads but occasionally use AOL, which uses IE. To the best of my knowledge everything to do with music is set to use iTunes, not QuickTime. Now that it's happened I have to go to each & every file & have iTunes convert it to an mp3 when I own a converter that can change all midi files to mp3s at once but can't change QuickTime movie files to mp3s. Why is this happening & how can I stop it?

I have the same issue with Safari opening Web PDF links in Quicktime.  When I click on a PDF URL the Quicktime logo will display in Safari, then the first page of the PDF will come up, and only the first page will be available, there is no way to scroll to subsequent pages.  I have not found any settings in Safari, Quicktime, or Adobe Reader to turn that off.  How can I get Quicktime to not be the default imbedded reader for PDF in Safari.

My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules.  You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.

  • How can I convert m4p's or ACC files to MP3s so I can make a mp3 Disk?

Trying to make a mp3 disk for my Bose Wave system with all my jazz tunes, figured it would be nice to have all the music on one disk instead of multiples. However, the files I have are not mp3 format. How can I make my Jazz playlist songs mp3 format so I can burn it to disk? I have a 20" imac G5 with the latest itunes.
    Thanks for your help!

If they are Protected AAC's purchased from the iTunes Music Store it is against the Apple Licence to convert them, if you want help ask elsewhere. if they are AAC's imported onto your Mac using iTunes instead, then you can convert them using iTunes by going to preferences and the advanced tab, then choose the importing sub-tab and change the format to MP3 Encoder, then simply select the songs in your Jazz playlist you want to convert and Ctrl Click of them and choose the convert to MP3 option, you will then have MP3's you can put on an MP3 CD. - The only problem is the quality may be noticably worse. As you say you have a Bose Wave System which sounds quite good this may be a problem for you...
The better solution (though unfortunately more expensive ) would be to buy an iPod of some sort and connect that up to the Bose Wave system, I know nothing about your stereo but you can buy an cable which plugs into the top of your ipod for less than £5 ($8-9) to connect up to your stereo either through the phono ports at the back or if it has a special MP3 player input you could connect the iPod up at the front. The iPod would also be able to play any protected AAC's you had downloaded from iTunes too.

  • I have the latest version of iTunes and want to convert  files to MP3 - how do I do that?

I have iTunes  11.0.4 which is upgraded from 11.0.12 and I have the same problem I had before the upgrade.  The choice to convert files to MP3 no longer exists per the instructions.  Does anyone who works for Apple know how to do this?  Why would Apple take this feature away?  It was really helpful.
I will have to start using the Amazon Cloud Player if iTunes can't get this resolved.  Help!!!  I love the old iTunes, but the new one ***** - does anyone know how to overcome this problem without 3rd party software?
    Thanks!

Set up your preferred import format under Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings, then right click on a selection of tracks to convert. If you want to permanently change the format, discarding the originals, while preserving ratings, play counts and playlist membership, then try my script ConvertFormat.

  • Converting WAV files to mp3 upon import

I have changed my import settings in itunes preferences to encode incoming wav files to mp3, restarted my computer, but when I import the wav file, it stays a wav file, no matter how I set my preferences. Why can't I make mp3's, or that is how the F**K can I get my computer to do what I'm asking it???
P.S. I still love my mac, but jesus, come on!!!

I have changed my import settings in itunes preferences to encode incoming wav files to mp3, restarted my computer, but when I import the wav file, it stays a wav file, no matter how I set my preferences.
Import will only convert to the selected format when your RIP from CD or select a file already in iTunes then menu Advanced -> Create {import settings} version.
Make sure your Import settings are MP3.
Hold Option, go to iTunes menu Advanced -> Convert selection to MP3, then select the WAV files you want to add to yoru library
This will convert them to MP3 and add them at the same time.

  • Converting WAV files to MP3

When trying to convert my wav files to mp3 in itunes, I get an error pop-up that says "The disk could not be read from or written to." These files worked fine before I updated to the new itunes.

    PaulSimpson wrote:
The files are on my hard drive Steve. They were audio files that I downloaded from my personal camera. I didn't even think these kinds of files had permissions.
OK just wanted to make sure. Sometimes, read/write errors occur when write protection is enabled on, say, an SD card. (that little tab on the top)
All files actually have permissions under Mac OS X, one of the aspects of the underlying UNIX file system. Every file is capable of being readable, writable, and/or executable by either the owner, the group to which he/she belongs to, and/or everybody. Sometimes accessing files becomes erratic when the file's permissions unknowingly change, thus the good idea to "repair permissions" from time to time with Disk Utility.
However, you mentioned that the original WAV files came from your digital camera. What happens if you try to open these WAVs with the QuickTime Player? Do they play as per usual?
    PaulSimpson wrote:
If you still think repairing my permissions with my install disc is the way to go, I'm game, but I'm going to need a bit more step by step.
We'll save that for a little later. Originally, I was leaning toward the feeling that the hard disk may have needed verifying/repairing (through Disk Utility) - because of the read/write errors. But it is possible that it may be an issue with the WAV files themselves.

  • Change Music File Format

I tried to convert my selections to MP3, however, a pop-up said that the files were protected. The selections are all authorized to play on my PC so how come it would not let me convert the files?

I will reply to my own post from what I found searching the forum. Thanks for noth'n...
The store purchases are in protected AAC format, this is ALL the store sells. Your importing preferences only affect the CD's that you rip yourself, not the store purchases. If you need the store purchases in another format, you will have to burn your purchase to an AUDIO CD, use the audio CD to re-import into iTunes in the desired format, mp3. Welcome to discussions!
Jims, store purchases are in protected AAC format & because of the DRM, they can't be directly changed to mp3. The only way to change your purchase to mp3 is to burn your purchase to an audio CD, use the audio CD to re-rip into iTunes as mp3. All music download sites will have some type of DRM on their downloads , the most common being protected WMA which is not compatible with iPods.
You adjust what format you need by setting your importing preferences in iTunes. So once you have the audio CD of your purchases, you will set your import settings in iTunes to mp3, then import as mp3 using your audio CD. If you are importing your own CD's, change your import setting to mp3 initially & there should be no need to convert an m4a file to mp3. Just to make sure you understand, store purchases have a file extension of .m4p, if you are importing your own CD's in AAC format, their files extension wil be .m4a.
Thanks for your help. I tried what you said, and I'm still having trouble. Here's what I did:
First, I tried burning the CD as an audio CD. That worked fine, but I couldn't import them back into iTunes. It couldn't "see" the files. (The computer only can see .txt, .xml, and .m3u files - not .cda files). I can click and drag them okay, but then they still aren't the right format.
Then, I tried to burn a CD as an MP3 CD, but it said "None of the items in this playlist can be burned to disc." Didn't say why. The help box says, "If your playlist includes songs in formats other than MP3, they will not be burned on the CD." Well, if the only way to get them to be MP3 is to burn them to a CD, and I can't burn them to a CD because they're not MP3, then what do I do??
I'm getting really frustrated. There's probably a really simple step-by-step instruction for this, I just can't find it. Please help!
You are on the right track.
Take the Audio CD that StarDeb had you make. Put that back into the CD drive. iTunes should automatically see it and take you to the CD import screen (just like importing a commercial CD). From there you would import the tracks using the MP3 settings you need.
You do not use the 'File=>Import' feature within the iTunes contextual menus.

  • How can I turn garage band files into mp3s?

On my older Macbook i have always been able to easily turn my .band files into mp3s under the Advanced heading in itunes, but with my Macbook Pro, that is not an option. The option has become "Create AAC version". How can I turn my .band files into mp3s so that I can load them onto my web page and my students can pick them up as mp3s and put them on their devices?

The option has become "Create AAC version".
Your iTunes importing preferences are currently set to AAC. If you change your Importing preferences to mp3, the option should then become "Create mp3 version". See the following document for some more details:
