Hey guys, A while ago, before the option to change your cache location was removed from the PC application, I had set it to a secondary HDD on my PC; seeing as how I have an SSD as my primary drive, and like to limit needless write cycles to extend it's life. Now, I remember whenever the option was taken away; and read somewhere that you can go into the core Spotify files with notepad and manually change the location that Spotify stores this information. Being an old install that had just been updated, I checked the file; and it was already set to my desired location. (I guess the settings just carried over.) Fast forward to this weekend, my failing SSD finally got replaced after a long service life; and I decided to start over with a fresh Windows install. I've tried to dig up the post that explained which file to go to in order to change location of my cache, but I can't seem to find it. I was hoping that somebody knew something about it and was able to drop me a hint as to where to go! Thanks, Andy

Inside the spotify installation folder (Usually located under C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify), there is a file called 'prefs'. Open it with a text editor like Notepad++ (or any other one). You used to be able to find it there. The storage.location line might only be available in older versions though.
Aside from that, its on the list of being implemented as a menu option again.

Instead of searching for any FM or anything. Go and create a flow thorugh LSMW and change the desired contact person through it..
I assure you this is the best and most efficient way.
first run LSMW and create a flow by changing the contact person of any one functional location and then assign the flow of that lSWM through external notepad file.
Get in the notepad all the desired FL you want to change run that within minutes your job will be done.

I have changed cache location but FF4 continues to use appdata/local/temp for storing actual files

I use FF 4.0.1
I changed the location of the disk cache by going to
about:cache
and changing browser.disk.cache.parent_directory
to a new location
yet FF4 still stores files at the old location

Thanks! Actually firefox DOES create a folder called Cache and fill it with lots of other folders. The problem is that when it comes to actual files, they land at the original appdata/local folder :(

HELP - Change cache location for ALL users.

I am in desperate mode here, so I appreciate any help...
I just installed 1.4.2_08 on my Citrix environment. I have a GPO that only allows 30mb of data to be saved in their profile and this is the max that I can make it. The problem is that the website created that uses this version of JRE creates a an 11mb file twice in the users profile. This blows up their session and they are no longer allowed to log off until I go in and clear it off. I've only had about 10 users that I have had to do this too, but I can see it's going to get a lot higher. Basically I want to change the cache location for all users, not just my profile, and redirect it to the users 'My Documents' folder. This way my GPO that then redirects the users 'My Documents' folder can have this folder on their home drive.

I had the same problem, but fixed it with this solution:
I added [deployment.user.cachedir=c\:\\temp\\cache] to the deployment.properties file.
(located at C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment)
Then i deleted the cache directory.
Now i am making my one Transform file for the deployment of java 1.6.0_05.
Does anyone knows how i can change the cache files etc in my transform file.

Accidentally changed cache location and the app crashes and never opens

I recently changed the cache location to an external usb and whenever I try to open the app t crashes and gives me an error pop up. I cant change the cache location back to default since I can never open the app, feels like a catch22 situation. A simple reinstallation didn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

Hello: Wait you changed the cache location folder for the spotify desktop spotify app, or changed the location for a system wide cache location? If you did a system wide cache move your probable going to run into all kinds of isssues. Would not it be a smart idea to plug in the USB device that was used in the change of cache location, and then try to launch spotify and see if it loads correct and finds the hacked moved new cache location? What about trying to retrace your steps in how you changed the default cache location, and just reverse the process to move the cache location back to it's default location, using the terminal system folder linking process, and then try to see if spotify will launch properly? I mean your on a Mac is your HD that small? I thought that was one of Apples selling points, larger memory run abilities, and larger HD space for their systems? Does not Mac have something called Time Machine, have your tried that route to fix the lost Cache location folder?

Honestly, I do not have good experience with the BAPI for serialnumber change...
would suggest to explore function module:
SERIALNUMBER_LIST_UPDATE
or
SERIALNUMBER_LIST_SAVE
Also run ST05 to trace what kind of data it passed to these function modules by running IQ02!

Folder redirection with Offline files enabled - Can I change the location of the locally cached files?

I have a 2012 r2 server setup with folder redirection and offline files enabled. All this works perfectly.
As you probably know, the local cache for offline files is stored at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\
The problem I have run into is that one user (who cannot be told to delete files cough ceo cough) has a very large documents folder, and a small SSD drive for his C drive. So the offline files are filling up his SSD. He wants all his files to be synced,
so decreasing the max disk usage is also not an option.
What I would like to do is move the Offline files to his D drive which is a large drive, however I have been unable to find any official method for doing this. Is there any provision to change this?
If not, would it work to move the entire \servername\ path to the d drive and then create a junction at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\ that points to d:\servername\?

Meanwhile creating a symbolic link should also work like:
mklink /d "C:\Windows\CSC" "D:\CSC"
Note: It will create d:\csc folder so you do not need to manually create it.
Note 2: As mentioned above, you may need to re-sync the offline files. Personally I also think robocopy will not work.

Unable to change Bridge CS5.5 Cache location to other than c:\user\

For some reason, I am unable to change the Cache location of Bridge CS5.5 outside of my c:\user\ folder. Other drives in the system are not seen by Bridge. This was not the case before. I used to have it in a different dedicated drive. I reset the preferences, deleted the cache but still they do not help. Please help, as my C: Drive is a SSD with limited space and contains OS only! There is no problem with PS or PR, only Bridge.

If it worked before what did you change?
I know there are some problems in Bridge with users relocating temp file to so place other than C drive. Known bug.

Is it possible to change the location of the ipod Photo Cache? At the moment it is created in my photos folder in win 8 which saves to my SkyDrive so I have duplicates and wasted space on the drive.

The logo is in it's own table cell - so css will not work (can't change the order of table columns using css). You could possibly replace the logo image on the server with a single white pixel (create a custom skin if you want), then add a new background image to the table (class is HeaderTopBar) aligned right and no repeat using CSS. You would need to pad out that right side somehow to make it align (the last cell has class HeaderPageStatus and contains the status image).

Can't change ACR cache location or size

Whenever I go to change the location of the cache, or even its size, the value immediately resets back the next time I open the preferences panel. Same happens if I try to do this in ACR 6.1. The location that I want to point it at is perfectly valid, on my local drive, and I have all permissions for it.
Since Adobe apps are slightly retarded and don't follow symlinks, an attempt to sneak in a different location under a symlink ended up as expected in a crash.
Any ideas how to change the ACR cache path, or why it would be failing? No messages in the Console. OSX 10.6.4, Nehalem MacPro.

No, links don't really work with any Adobe apps, at least not on OSX. Just try to create a symlink to any of the Camera Raw settings folders (lens profiles, camera profiles - so that they are all the same on all my computers) - no dice. I write OSX software for a living and know my way with symlinks - not sure what Adobe is doing but they don't work.
But that's not the issue here - my question is why I can't change the cache directory the "normal, pedestrian way" (your average user won't know anything about symlinks).

How to change the CACHE location to a different drive

My Bridge's cache is located on my C drive, which is almost full. I would like to change the cache location to drive D, which is also an internal drive, but with lots of available space. Unfortunately, when I go to Preferences and click the "Choose" button for the cache location, it only shows me my C drive. I am 99% sure I originally installed all of the creative cloud on my C drive, but then uninstalled it and reinstalled it on my D drive(because of space reasons). It appears as if the application resides on the D drive, but all the app data remains on the C drive.
Is there anyway to access the D drive for the cache?
Is there anyway to move the app data files to my D drive?

I have explored the file structure and can't see anything outside of these folders, which are on the C drive.

They can only be used inside the borders of the country of issue.

No, an external drive will not always be mounted. If the drive goes to sleep, it can unmount, or it may unmount for other reasons. As Chris said, confim that the drive is mounted and active before launching iTunes.

Change "Location" with a script?

Dear all,
I am working in two different (network) environments and need to change both network settings (proxy, ...) and also computer settings (CUPS server) and some environment variables depending on my physical location. For the latter two I have a little bash script that does that conveniently.
But changing the network always requires a few clicks extra... I was wondering if it was possible to change the network environment ("Location" in the Apple menu) by a script (I tried with AppleScript and Automator but didn't find anything) or to run a script automatically whenever I change the Location. This way I would only have to run either the script or change the Location to adjust all settings.
Can anyone help me here?

While this works, ideally I would like to have one script that does both the changes to the shell (for this I already have a shell script) and the changes to Mac OS.

In fact I would prefer the script to run without user interaction, i.e. to just put in the name of the location that I want to switch to and not display a selection box. I would then just create two or three scripts for my most frequently used locations. I tried a few variants but I didn't manage to set 'R' which is probably the variable containing the new location to a fixed value. Could I ask you again for help with this?
