Changing CD burner

I am running OX10.2 with iTunes 6.0.1 (3). Several months ago I replaced the stock CD burner with a Pioneer superdrive. I can import songs from a CD in this drive but I cannot burn CDs. I get a message saying iTunes cannot find the burner or software. When I look in the iTunes preferences it lists the old drive. I do I get iTunes to recognize the new drive for buring?
iDVD has had no problems with this drive.
Thanks,
Eric

Give Patchburn (www.patchburn.de) a try.
This will install a new profile/driver and might iTunes let your burner recognize.
It often does the trick with older burners. Since you have a recent burner, I'm not very confident it will work, but give it a try.

I have had a few people tell me that if my dvd's are not playing on another dvd player to change the burning speed down to 1x or 2x how do you change your burning speed on idvd, I know this is a simple question for someone. I'm using a g-5 dual and fuji silver label dvd's. thanks

thanks everyone I may just have to make a master copy and then burn it on toast because thats the only way I have found to change the burn speed and I am really getting tired of hearing clients tell me they can't play the dvd on there machine or laptop

  • A WAY TO CHANGE THE BURN SPEED????

    Hi,
I posted a similar question before, but didnt get a definative answer... I'll ask it in a more concise way. Is there a way to change the burn speed in DVD SP2? I didn't see any settings relating to that.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

There is a work around. In DVD Pro, "format" with the output device set to disc and the format to ".img". When this is finished, open Disk Utility and "convert" the .img file to a CD/DVD master (.cdr). This file can then be used to burn to a blank DVD. If you click the options arrow in the burn dialog before beginning the burn, you can select a speed other than "maximum". Not elegant, but it works. My HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B DVD drive only succeeds at burning at its maximum rate about 1/3 of the time. However, at 12X it has been quite reliable.

  • "Browse"button couldn't change to "Burn Disc"

itunes 7,Disc Driver DVD+-RW connected via usb and and recognized by itunes, windows XP Pro, mp3 songs authorized, creat playlist in itunes.
after inserting a blank disc, itunes shows me to choose the songs in playlist and to burn. But "Browse"button couldn't change to "Burn Disc", failed.

I have a similar issue. For me at least, it seems that I cannot move songs from my ipod into new playlists (and therefore the browse button does not change to burn). This is a recent development, in the last couple of days. I.e., I was previously able to create a new playlist and move songs into it for burning to CD. So, this does not pose any answer to your question, I just have a similar issue: the burn. Does anyone know of a solution?

  • Changing the Burning Speed in iTunes

Has the option for changing the burning speed been taken away in the most recent version of iTunes. I thought this used to be an option under iTunes/Preferences, but I can't seem to find it. Any information about this would be appreciated.

  • Please Help! It's Happened Again - Quality Changed in Burning

I am sorry to repost this, but I am really hoping someone can help me! I didn't get a response to the message below about the quality of my burned CD's suddenly changing, and it has happened again - again with music purchased from iTunes.
    Any help appreciated!! Thank you!!
    Hi all~
Though I am no computer expert, I've been burning CDs from iTunes for ages without problems until today. I purchased some songs from iTunes yesterday and burned an audio CD from iTunes today. For the first time, the quality was waaay off - with pops, semi-stutters, etc. This is true whether I play it in iTunes or Windows Media.
After looking around this forum, I changed the burn speed down to 8x (first tried at "Maximum Possible" which was my previous default setting). Same problem.
Now the odd part - to try to see if it was my internal CD burner, I manually copied the music files using Windows Explorer and burned yet another CD that way. Obviously, these are M4P files that can only be played by iTunes. However, when I opened up iTunes, it cant see that CD . . . which confused me. On the other hand, when I use Windows Explorer to manually look at the CD folder and tell it to open the music track using iTunes, it works. And then the song plays flawlessly in iTunes.
So near as I can tell, this appears to be an issue now with how iTunes is burning audio CDs . . . which appears to have changed in the last couple of weeks . . . though I dont recall having changed anything on my computer in that time.
    Any help?!
    Thanks - balithai

Read the small print on your power brick. It handles 110 - 240 volts automatically. All you need is a plug adapter to make your current wall plug fit the European wall sockets.

  • Changing ken burns on only one photo

    Hi all,
I have a slideshow which I autogenerated the ken burns effect.
I have one photo that constantly gets clipped and you can't see it.
How can I turn off the ken burns for that ONE photo....?
I have searched the forum...I tried the auto kb's in settings then turning on the kb on the bottom of the slideshow then turning off the auto ken burns...but then there is NO ken burns for the whole thing....
thanks for any leads I thought I was almost done!!!

I too am having problems. I'm new to Macs - other than a stint with them when I worked for NASA over 20 years ago. I'm trying to do a DVD slide show for some friends. There are about 320 pictures in the show. I have the (default) auto KB effect on and in most cases I can make it work satisfactorily by cropping. I also have the whole show set up so that slides are expanded to fill the screen. But there's one case where there's a tall tower (portrait format for the original photo) and I'd like it to pan from the bottom to the top. According to the help, I should be able to set up the KB effect to pan in this manner by pulling the slide to the bottom and selecting "Start" and then moving to the top and selecting "End."
When I try to do this, it does some odd things. For example, I set up the Start as I said above and then I move the picture so I'm seeing the top of the tower. But when I click Start, the picture pops back down to the bottom.
And when I preview the slide, I get varying results, even without changing any of the parameters. In other words, I hit Preview it will scroll from the top down (opposite of what I want) and then after the preview is finished I hit preview again and it starts panning from the middle of the tower upward - without my having changed anything.
One thing occurred to me - and I haven't tried it, is that perhaps the overall auto KB effect is somehow confusing what I'm trying to do on this particular slide. If that's the case then I guess I'd have to set up individual KB effects for all 320+ slides. That seems a bit of a pain although I guess I could do a select all and then apply it to everything and then go back and "fix" ones individually that don't work as desired.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks,
    Rick

  • How do you change the burn speed when making a CD?

I have tried burning my iTunes purchases onto a CD, and when I try to play them back on my CD player, nothing happens. It will play back in iTunes on the Mac, but not on my CD player or in my car.
I suspect it has to do with the speed at which they burn, but I have no idea how to change that?

  • Why does order of playlist changed when burning CD?

I made a playlist from songs imported from different cd's to burn a mixed cd. i changed the order of the songs in the playlist the way i wanted them on the cd & even changed each songs number in the info box. still once the cd is burned the songs are in a different order. i must have missed something basic but i cant figure out what. help!!

Are you burning within iTunes? Using Burn Playlist to Disc? That's the only I burn from my library, and my playlists always stay in the order I've placed them in.
If you're burning through Finder, it may be burning them in alpha order.

  • Photo order changes when burn CD

I created iPhoto album in a certain order. When I burn CD the order changes, seemingly randomly. The order of the show is important. How do I prevent this? Thank you, MP

The order is probably alpha-numeric, based on the File Name of the photos. iPhoto allows you to change the photo's title, but to change the file name you must export a copy outside of iPhoto.
Select your album. Then export to a desktop folder, with "use album name" checked. If your album is named "Winter" then the photos will be names "Winter 01," "Winter 02," etc. Your order should be preserved.
If your photo titles are important, you could pad the beginning of each title with a numeral. Then export with "use title" checked, and the file name will become the photo's title.

  • Registry settings changed for burning cds

I got the iTunes Assistant message that said the registry setting used by the iTunes drives for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are wrong. I suggested that I reinstall iTunes, so I did.
However, I am still getting the same message and can't figuer out how to get it to work.

    Check out http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2615
Personally, I'd first try reinstalling GEAR. Even though the symptoms are different than described here, this article has the link to reinstalling it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308

  • How can I change iphoto6 burning options to just burn the modified prints?

Please help - is there a way, when burning an album to cd, to just burn the edited photos (filename 'modified') without also adding:
    (a) the thumbnails (filename 'data') &
    (b) the originals (filename 'originals')
This would make using a Kodak printmachine far easier as it would be much clearer to myself or the operative which set of photos to print.
I would be very grateful for any help

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Select those files, cropped to the print size you want, and export via the File->Export->File Export menu option to the desktop. Then burn those files via the Finder to a disk.

  • Can you change default burn output in DVDSP?

    Hi All
I got a dual layer external burner (lacie D2) for my G5 dual2 which has a single layer superdrive inside. I encoded the movie file with Compressor, imported the assets to DVDSP and clicked burn as i usually do. DVDSP spits out the superdrive tray and asks for some suitable media to be placed in there, as it normally does.
Q> How can I make DVDSP address the Lacie, when I click burn, instead of the G5 superdrive.?
    Cheers
    Jamie

    A> You can't
Although the drive on the computer opens as usual you should be able to open the external drive, insert a blank DVD, close it and *in theory DVDSP should burn it. OR if you already have a blank DVD in the External drive before you try to burn in DVDSP then when you click burn your internal drive should not even open. If you have a blank DVD in the internal drive and a blank DVD in the External drive then DVDSP will burn a DVD onto the internal drive. I'm not %100 sure but try it out!
Another alternative is to build the DVD in DVDSP and use Toast to format to the external drive. This is the preferred method since you can set the burn speed (DVDSP burns at the highest speed which increases the risk of burning coasters).
Something else you might of wanted to consider is acquiring a Dual-Layer internal drive...
