Changing channel on wrt54gs

I am hooking up a Nintendo Wii to my Linksys router and it does the connection test just fine, but I have alot of problems after that, many error codes. The nintendo site says to change the routers channel to 1 or 11. How do I do this, and will it effect my PS3 that is working just fine as it is? Any help would be great!

You might need to forward ports for Wii. So that it can properly connect

  • Can't change channel since update

Yesterday I switched my box on and was prompted to update it (which it did at about the third attempt).
However, since then I can no longer change channels with the remote.
If, for example, I want BBC 1 I can't just press the one button because it doesn't work.
The box registers that I have pressed one because at the bottom of the screen it shows BBC 1 or whatever channel I've chosen but it just flashes up with the channel/programme information but doesn't change.
It's also the same on the tv guide.
If I press, say, seven it won't go to BBC 3.
Any ideas how I can change this?

OK. Mine must be the old, old type.

  • HT4587 I was trying to change channels on my airport express and I hit "Forget" on the devices and now my computer can't locate the airport express device.  What do I do?

My airport expresses are not showing up in my internet options.  I was trying to change channels between the airport utility and the airport expresses and they didn't reset properly.  I then hit "forget" on the options...now they are no longer visible.  It's a nightmare.  How do I get them back?

There are three Airport resets, soft, hard and factory default.  It would probably be beneficial if you tried each one in sequence.  Actually, you could jump to the factory default reset if you don't mind reconfiguring from scratch.

  • 5-7 sec delay changing channels from HD to Non Hd.

I have a 26in LCD Samsung Hd TV model LNS2651dx got it in 2007.  The first comcast set top box I got it was connected dvi and I had no problem with this issue.
But the box went bad so comcast brought out a DCH 3416 set top box and it was connected HDMI and this was the first time I noticed this 5 to 7 second delay changing channels.
It only happens when I go from hd1080i to non hd 480p or vice versa.  So I thought it was the set top box so I had comcast replace it.  So they brought out a new one a DCH 3200 and the same problem is still occurring.
Now is it my TV or is it this brand Motorola comcast settop box DCH series?  or even the hdmi cord 3.1 which is new?
If I put the 4:3 override on stretch it doesn't do it because it thinks every channel is in 1080i, but I'm not sure if this is safe for my TV, because some have said people look wider then they should be.  I noticed on a hd channel a skinny person, but when I turned to the non hd version he was wider.
So back to my original ? What is the problem with the delay is it taking time to figure out the sound and picture, that's why there is a delay.  But why don't I have this problem with dvi?  If anyone can help that would be great.

Different box, different box settings, and different technology.

  • Why does my wi-fi keep changing channels

why does my wi-fi keep changing channels?

the channel is chosen by the WiFi router. If you don't want changes for whatever reason, set it in the router as manual and set the channel you want.

  • Where's the "Are you sure you want to change channels"window?

We used to have Dish and it had one amazing feature that AT&T doesn't have. When I have live tv paused or just rewound back a bit, and then I accidentally hit a number button or the channel up/down button, with AT&T the channel gets changed and I lose the show I was watching. So very infuriating. With Dish, a little window popped up that asked if I was sure I wanted to change channels and switch to live tv, click yes to change or no to stay where you are on the current channel. It's starting to become a deal breaker. Seriously considering switching back because of this one problem, it matters.

If that bothers you so much, switch back.  There are no tuners like on Dish, here on Uverse, you just use upto four streams on IPTV.  As soon as you leave a channel, the buffer is reset to that channel.  You'll have no problems if you'd be a little more careful and set the remote in your lap and don't pick it up until ready to use.
If you want to pause a program, press Record to start it recording and can just watch the recording, will include everything in the buffer, so could go back/forth on the recording.

  • Popping sound soundbar when changing channels

I recently purchased a soundbar to go with my HDTV set. Experience popping when changing channels or when changing settings in the DVR. Manufacturer of the soundbar says that I must match the STB (Motorola 7232) audio settings with the TV's which is Force or LPCM and turn off Dolby Digital. However, I cannot find these settings.
Take the soundbar out of the mix and the TV does not experience any popping. This tells me that this cannot be the STB but the manufacturer says it is. Any help with audio on FiOS TV would be greatly appreciated.

Let us know if you find the menu. The tricky thing is that you have to power it off from the front display and then do ok menu using the remote. It took ne a couple times to get there with the new box. Best of luck.

  • Hanging when changing channels

I am currently on release 1.9 build 10.95. Ever since the software was "upgraded" I have noticed the following:
Intermittently, when changing channels, by selecting from the guide, often the system will hang, for up to a minute, before the channel finally changes, almost as if it is waiting for something to time out.
Intermittently, when I use the remote, the green light will flash on the box showing that a signal has been received, but nothing happens. I may have to issue the command two or three times.
This has happened on all three of our DVR's - Motorola QIP - 7216 1
I have reset the box via software, physically reset the box by pulling the power chord, and put new batteries into the remote, numerous times, and the problem persists.
Is it only me, or has this problem been reported under a different heading?

Usually, you can turn off a video setting and it speeds up the responce time of the set top box. Try hitting menu - settings - video settings - sd override and selecting off. There are other settings in there but they dont seem to affect the responce time much.

  • WRT110 signal problems... change channel?

I have been having significant slowdown using my wireless router. Someone in a differfent post said he was told by comcast that his signal could be inconsistent because comcast uses the same channel, which causes interference. I too have comcast, so I want to try this. Unfortunately, the threads I've read only give directions up to accessing the Linksys administration tool and I cannot find any way to change channels once I get there.
When I get to the Wireless tab, I see manual and wi-fi protected options, and it is default filled to wi-fi protected. Option 1 [holding the wi-fi protected set-up button and hitting the button to the right] results in a failed attempt to contact the client device. Option 2 requires a PIN and I have no idea what that would be. Option 3 gives direction if my router asks for a client PIN number... no idea how to get to whatever point the router would ask for that info.
OTOH, if I click the manual setup radio button, I go to a page that only offers a few set-up options [Network Mode, Network Name (SSID), Radio Band, Wide Channel (only option is auto), Standard Channel (only option is auto), SSID Broadcast]. In other words, I can see no way to set to channels 1-6, 9, 11 as others have recommended.
What the heck am I doing wrong?
    TIA

    >Someone in a different post said he was told by comcast that his signal could be >inconsistent because comcast uses the same channel, which causes >interference.
First that is a bunch of crap.  You WAN input is not on any 'channel'.  Next don't ever hit the SES button (Secure Easy Setup) on the front of the router because you don't have the receiving hardware to take advantage of it.  The wireless tab always defaults to WiFi Protected Setup but you always want Manual.
Never use the Linksys Admin Tool LELA.  Always connect to your router via your wired computer to 192.168.1.1.  Leave user name blank and input your password that you set (might be admin).
    Under basic wireless settings:
Network Mode - BG Mixed (my setting)
    SSID - your network name
    Radio band - Standard 20Mhz
    Wide channel - Auto
Standard channel - 1 (higher frequencies are not as reliable)
    SSID - Enabled
Basic Setup Tab change MTU value to Manual 1492 if you have PPPoe, otherwise lower it to 1400.
Advanced wireless settings change Beacon Interval to 75, RTS and Fragmentation threshold to 2404.
Save settings and give it a try.  Once your wireless is stable, go back and add security.

  • Keep changing channels.

I got this log on my WC all the time, massive every day.
Channel changed for Base Radio MAC: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx on 802.11a radio. Old Channel: 36. New Channel: 36. Why: Radar. Energy before/after change: 0/0. Noise before/after change: 0/0. Interference before/after change: 0/0.
It said change channel from 36 to 36. and no improvment on any apsects.  It happened on many different MAC addresses.
What could cause this?  My users some time complain lossing - reconnecting to wireless from time to time, could it be related?
Thanks a lot for any help or clue.
    Appreciated.

  • How do I change channels? Lost IP address.

I see from other messages that I probably need to change channels.  I've never had a problem in the couple of years I've had the router until now.  Someone else set it up, so I have no idea what to access to make changes.

connect a computer to one of the ports of the router....for example , the router's ip add is 192.168.1.1 .. so try accessing the router using http://192.168.1.1 .. the default login password is admin ..
on the web ui , go to the "wireless" tab and select the wireless channel you want ..

  • Updated Software FIOS App Won't Change Channels

Since the software was updated a few days ago, the myfios app on my ipad doesn't properly change channels. For example, if I select "watch on TV" for channel 622, it might go to channel 62 or a completely random channel. This feature was working perfectly before the update. I rebooted the media server/DVR, I updated the app to the latest version and did a hard restart on the iPad, but it's still not changing channels properly. C'mon guys, this was a very handy feature! Please advise.

I have the exact same problem as of a few weeks ago. Incredibly annoying...

  • WLAN Controller not changing channels

We have a 2000 wireless controller with 4 1240 access points connected to it. The users would like to run their current non-cisco wireless network until all testing has been completed with the new cisco wireless installation. We have their old wireless on channel 11. It is my understanding that the WLAN Controller should see the old wireless gear and readjust itself so that there no interference. Well the problem is that the Cisco aps that can see the old wireless gear is setting itself with the same channel and not adjusting itself, it basically acts like it doesn't even care that the other wireless network is there. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing on the controller?? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Is "Avoid non-802.11b noise" also checked?
On the controller if you go to management->trap logs, do you see any events that mention RF Manager changing channels? How about interference profile failed?
How about in monitor->rogue APs. Does it see the existing APs there?
In Wireless->802.11b/g radios, what channels and power levels do you see for your current ones?
Sorry for so many questions, I haven't see this as an issue before. One thing you could try is setting channel selection to manual and kicking it off. It shouldn't matter, but you never know.

  • How to change channel on 5GHz on new (2012) Airport Express when connecting to en excsiting network?

Airport Express only provides channel 100 automatically when configuring it to connect to an excisting wireless network at 5GHz. This is out of range for most routers, which typicaly provieds channels 36 through 48 for connecting 5GHz devices.Only when you configure the Airport Express to establish a new wireless network it allows you to change channels manually. This is really weird. I have severeal Airport Express units (older model) around my house for streaming music, and they work just fine on 2.4 GHz, and so does the new (2012) one, but I bought it specifically to use 5GHz in a corner of my house with interference from surrounding 2.4 GHz networks, so I am really disappointed with this product. There should and must be a way to connect it to an excisting 5GHz network, but how to get the channel right in this cnfiguration mode?

When you extend wireless you cannot switch channels.. The Express is locked to the channel used by the Extreme.. there is no choice about this.
Reboot the extreme .. wait a minute and then reboot the express.. Channels will be tested on reboot to pick the best.. there is nothing much else you can do.

  • Change Channel without pressing OK button

The X1 remote have intelligent feature that when I enter some channel number, it shows all possible combinations that match the wild card but the channel is not changed until I press the OK button.  Is there any way to just enter channel number and it would change.  For example, soon after I press 137, I expect it to be taken to channel 137, instead of me having to press the OK button.  All the remotes and systems I used in past (Comcast, Dish, WOW) have had this feature.

I wonder if this is the result of having the Guide in the cloud.  Channel numbers can be from one character to at least four, for now.  If Comcast went to five, well you see my point.   Maybe the software has to know how many digits to expect before changing channels. It's the same deal on legacy boxes, though.. When the 1000s were added, 3 digit channels require pressing OK too. Either way, it's 2015, who needs channel numbers anyway?
