Changing channel strip settings

When I create a new track, and at the top of the channel strip select "setting" to select a Mainstage Guitar Rig or Electric Effect, for example, everything works great. But when I go back to change the the same setting to another effect or rig, the program won't let me change it. What am I doing wrong?

Just to re-ask this same question as its not received any responses....
I'm fairly new to Logic, having been using it (and enjoying the learning curve) for about 4 months. Until today, I've been able to select a new channel strip setting by clicking on the 'Settings' button at the top and change this at will. However, I'm suddenly finding once I've selected a setting, I can no longer re-select another via this method - I just get no response when clicking on the button. However, I am still able to access various settings via the library.
I'm assuming I've inadvertently changed something, but cannot work out what.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
John

  • Re: Shared Channel Strip settings, Plug-in settings...

    Hi all,
Has anyone gotten into shared Channel Strip settings and Plug-in settings? I read that there are multiple ways of doing this (bonjour). Just wondering if there are any good places on the net that anyone knows of.
I know it's always best to make settings to work with whatever material you're working on but I would like to hear/see what others are doing or to have a point of reference. Plus, I wouldn’t mind getting a good slap back delay. Or some solid synth leads...

    Hey Jorge,
Thanks for the reply - yep, it's cool to be able to save strip settings for aux strips and for the main out as well, to make "my" sound and keep my songs consistent.
However there are some really great pre-set settings for these strips. They can be accessed the "slow" way by holding the "Setting" box at the top of the strip, and then choosing a category and from there a preset.
But I really want to be able to go through these preset strips quickly by using the Library... you can do this for normal audio channels, and it's great to say be able to click through "bass" presets one after the other while your bass audio track is playing...
But for the aux and settings strips, I can't get the "settings" to show up as a list in the Library...
Does anyone know how this is done?!
    Cheers and thanks,
    Mike

  • How do I move previous Channel Strip Settings from Logic 9 to Logic X?

    Hello,
I made the jump from Logic 9 to Logic X and I had previous Channel Strip Settings on the 9.  I did the yourhomefolder/library/applicationsupport/logic copy and pasted it in the new folders on my HD (exact same place), but they're not showing up.  I only get the 'Legacy' option when trying to inset a Channel Strip I had before.
Does anyone know how to do this successfully?
    Thanks.

    Banks,
    Indeed..
However, I would retain the LP9 app as firstly it's fairly small so you don't save much space by deleting it...and secondly, you might need it to work on older or new projects that still use 32bit only plugins as they are no longer supported in Logic Pro X
    Cheers..

  • Creating Folders in the Library for Channel Strip Settings?

When I 'Save Channel Strip Setting As', the new setting appears in my Library of Channel Strip Settings, but I want to create a folder of 'Custom Settings' so I don't get bogged down with a bunch of free-floating settings in my Library.  How can I do this?  Thanks!

Just figured it out.  But in case you're reading this and having the same problem here is what I did...
In finder I went to the following location :
    User/Library/Application Support/Logic/ChannelStripSettings/Instrument
in the 'Instrument' folder I created a new folder and titled it Custom Settings, then moved my settings to that folder.  Now in my Logic Channel Strip Setting Library looks much cleaner!

  • I can't access my newest channel strip settings in Logic 8

Hello all. I am running Logic 8.0.2. I have several channel strip settings saved from my move from Logic 7 to 8. I noticed that when I save new channel strip settings now, that they show up in the proper folders on my Mac, but do not show up in my lists in the media bin on the right, or when you click on the "setting" button all the way on the left for the fader you are loading an instrument on. I did click "reset channel strip" which just resets the strip, and tried refresing the library under the media panel on the right. I have looked at some other forums as well, and I'm not sure if this particular issue has been answered but I haven't seen it yet (apologies if I'm repeating from a past post). Please let me know if there is something I can do...it seems like it should be something simple, like just a "refresh" somewhere, but they still don't show up. Thanks to all for your help!

i have the same problem with my iphone 4.and when synching with itunes it says "can't synch contacts with iphone because iphone is using contacts. close contacts on iphone and synch again."

  • Channel Strip Settings missing 'Legacy' option

I am missing a large amount of options from my Channel strip settings drop down menu, a normal click gives me the following on a software instrument channel:
When I hold alt and click I get the following:
I am not being given the option 'Legacy' or other options I have seen being used from this menu. Is there a way to customise what options you can have in this menu, and if so where can I edit them?

    I´m having the same issue.

  • Channel Strip Settings Menu

    Logic 7.2.3
on page 272 of the logic reference manual it says "if you click on the word Insert on any channel strip, the channel strip settings menu opens."
unfortunatley that does'nt happen for me.
    any thoughts?
    dual g4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

yeah ive tried in all those instances
the only point of note was that when clicking and holding on the arrange channel strip, the little timer watch icon appeared in place of the cursor for a second. the cursor then returned to the arrow
this problem continues to annoy greatly and any help would be much appreciated

  • Channel strip settings - import

    Hi,
Is there a way to import channel strip settings between projects with the same amounts of track, (as i import for example transform sets)?
    Thanks,
    K.

    Don't get me started...
The short answer is no. Not multiple channel strips. You cold always save them, one by one, by one...
Or go back to version 7, where this took all of 15 seconds to do between two songs, from the Audio Configuration window, which was removed in version 8, because, and I quote - "it was no longer needed".

  • Use audio channel strip settings for instrument channel

How can I use the library of audio channel strip settings for an an instrument channel? I use a virtual guitar (RealStrat from MusicLab) and want to apply one of those beautiful audio channel strip settings for guitars to my virtual instrument.
    Best, Dietmar

    This works great, thank You
Is there a way to select the next audio channel strip setting with a keyboard shortcut? I can open the channel strip setting pop up menu with the option key pressed and select "Next channel strip setting" from the pop up menu, but that's not comfortable if You want to listen through 10 or 20 settings When I use the keyboard shortcut "Next channel strip setting" the next _software instrument_ channel strip setting is loaded ...
Is there a way to make the _library display the audio channel strip settings_ for an instrument channel?
    Best, Dietmar

  • Downloadable Channel strip settings

  • Why can't I save inputs, outputs, or colors with Channel Strip settings? :(

I am really just starting to embrace the library for Channel Strip settings - I love that it saves the plug-ins and cusotm Icons, but I kind of thought it would make sense for everything to be saved, no?
I would like to choose a Channel Strip and have it show up with the I/O routing and a saved color. Is this possible and I am just missing it?

You may be hitting a bug. On my system, when I double-click a bin, the new instance of the Project panel inherits the column layout from the current instance. A screen capture video may help get a better handle on what you're seeing.
like a feature request to be able to save Project Panel column order independent of the saved workspace.
If I'm just misunderstanding and PPro is behaving as expected, then you have two options:
Have each user save a workspace with their own particular panel layout and a common column order. Then, after taking hand-off of the project, select the preferred workspace.
when the project is handed off, have the recipient enable the "Import Workspace from Projects" option in order to get the column layout (Window>Workspaces), then move the panels around as desired.

  • Hidden/cannot locate user channel strip settings

How do I "Unhide" the Performance folder and custom channel strip settings in Finder? I can see them when I save a preset, but cannot access them manually.

    Hi
They are in a 'Hidden' folder in the UserLibrary directory.
The quiclkest way to get there is using the Finder:Go. Hold down Option to see the <User>:Library in the Go menu.
I then add that to the sidebar in  the Finder window

  • How to import downloaded channel strip settings

hey guys just downloaded some new dubstep channel strip settings for the ES2 synth but cant find a way to import them in logic express 9. Thanks!!

    Hi
Settings files for Channel Strips and Plugin settings can be stored in 2 basic places
    <Startup Disc>: Library:Application Support:Logic
    or
    <User Home Folder>:Library:Application Support:Logic
The <User> items will only be available to that particular User Acount, the Main Library is available to all (this is where the Factory files are stored).
Within these directories, there are folders for Channel Strip Settings (with a different sub-directory for the different type of channel; you need to go for the Software Instrument folder), and also for Plugin Settings.
To keep your items separate from the Factory's, I'd suggest that you put your files in the User Folder.

  • Automate Guitar Channel Strip Settings

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to automate a change is the Channel Strip setting during a performance. For instance, is there automate a change from:
    02 Electric Guitar/02 Complete Rigs/Rock/Bell-Bottomed Stack
    to say....
    02 Electric Guitar/03 Clean/03 Clean Delay/Clean Trashy Delay
at some point within the performance (and back again, etc).
This would sure beat stomping on pedals or trying to program automation of multiple amp settings and effects settings, etc. Thanks
    Paul

I don't know if there is but I do know there's a WAY to make it happen. One way around the sound change automation idea is to record your guitar performance then copy it on another track. Two tracks of the same performance, You after all have 255 tracks available so space isn't an issue. Assign one set of guitar settings to one track and a different set to the other then decide where in the song "track one" plays and where in the song "track two" plays. You can do this using a volume automation or even cutting parts you don't want to play. Done correctly it will sound like one track with a sound change at the correct times and one advantage of doing this is you can have both tracks play at the same time or even run them in stereo. (One in the left speaker and one in the right)
Again there MAY be a way to change the sound profile mid track but if there isn't the above idea will do the trick and give you some added sound options OVER changing the sound profile mid track.
