Changing complete background of template in iWeb?

I am trying to change the background for the page portion of a website I am working on in iWeb 08 (Darkroom). I have been able to change the background of other templates completely, but for some reason with this template I can only change the lower portion of the template background. The upper portion remains the same medium gray linen background (basically what you see full screen without scrolling). I have a darker linen background I am trying to inset into the Inspector-page-layout-page-tile but when it is dropped in there, it doesn't change the upper half, only the lower portion(seen once you scroll down). I have changed other template's page complete backgrounds, but not this one. Anyone have any suggestions? Or should I just grab another template and re-work it so it looks like Darkroom?

The file that sits in the center of the page that you can't remove is named Darkroom_spotlight.jpg. So if you edit the Darkroom theme and remove that file I think you can do what you want. You may have to add a file by the same name that's a 1 pixel image .... The particular files are located in the iWeb application/Contents/Resources/Themes/Darkroom.webtheme/Shared folder. You'll have to open iWeb and the webtheme packages by Control-clicking on them and select Show Package Contents.
I'm make a backup copy of iWeb before making the modifications.

  • Changing templates in iWeb

    Hello, I'm completely new to iWeb but so far it's pretty awesome. I would like to know how I can change the background pictures in some of the iWeb templates. I'd like to use the Road Trip template but I would like to change the background if that's possible. Also, I've seen some templates available for download online for iWeb, how do those work? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Most templates you can download come with an installer so it will just add the templates to your list.
    To change background images, etc, use Inspector's Page Tab

  • In Pages 09' how do I change the background colors on the templates?

    I have been trying to change the background on one of the templates from red to green for a while.  I can't figure it out and i can't find answers online any where that are helpful at all.  I just need to changes the background color to what I want it to be and not what the programs sets them too.  Any ideas?  I'm totally stumped!
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Burke,
    Here's the result, using Peggy's suggestion:
    Process:
    Click on the thin strip of red to the left of the title ("THE THOMPSONS") to select the background.
    You'll see the small x in each corner, indicating the object is locked.
    Go Arrange > Unlock (or press option-command-L) to unlock the object.
    Click on the Fill Color well in the format bar, and choose a new colour from the palette.
    Go Arrange > Lock (or press command-L to re-lock the object.
    Save the result.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How do I change the Background Color of a Shape in iWeb?

    I am adding a comment bubble from the Shape menu for one of my photos. Everytime I try to change the background color of the bubble I end up changing the entire background color of the Web Page.
    How do I only change the background color of the shape?

    Hi Kyn,
    Perhaps you (or anyone else!) can help me with this too: is it possible to change the color of the border styles that you choose for the thumbnails on a photo page? There is no "fill" option in the Graphic pane of the inspector when I select one of them. I love some of the styles but would like to be able to match the color better to my pages. See here for an example:
    http://web.mac.com/mousie/iWeb/Site/Recount.html
    The twirly border is a little too orange for my taste.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can you change the background colors in templates on Pages?

    I love the newsletter templates in Pages, but I can't figure out a way to change the background color. I am supposed to use specific colors so I was hoping there was a way to change the background colors in some of the tables. Is there a way?

    Hi, yes, I clicked the box that I wanted to change the background in. I made sure that the correct box was selected and not the text box on top of it. Then I clicked Fill on the top bar and selected the color that I wanted to change it to. I only wanted to change the color in certain boxes - I didn't want to change the entire background of the newsletter template. I hope I explained this ok

  • Changing column background color in a template

    I am using template 12 alternating row colors. Is there a way to change the background color for selected columns in the header in the template.

    When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
    <li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
    <li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
    With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

  • Help me change the background image

    I just installed my copy of iWeb. The first thing I did after selecting a template was try to change the background.
    I hit the inspector button, found the tab with the background stuff, selected image fill, fit to size, and chose my photo. And nothing happened.
    Then I hit the media button, selected photos, dragging a photo to the background image in the inspector and nothing happened.
    What is the secret to changing the background image?
    Thanks.

    I tried to delete everything but the background image that comes with the template and iWeb still refuses to change to anything I want to change it to.
    Any ideas? The application doesn't seem to be working for me.
    Also if I save a file, where on the local HDD does it get saved? When I hit save iWeb didn't allow me to set a file name, it apparently just saved the document somewhere in a place that I cannot find.
    I want to be able to do some quick down and dirty web pages and then bring them into Dreamweaver at a later date and FTP them to the web.

  • How to change desktop background in AppleScript in 10.7?

    I'm just now upgrading from 10.6 to 10.7, and I'm having trouble with a script that I wrote that worked fine under 10.6.  In part, it executes the following command:
         osascript -e "tell application \"Finder\" to set destop picture to POSIX file \"<path>\""
    to change the desktop background image to one of two different files based on other conditions.
    In 10.7, this command completes with no error code, but it only changes the background of one of my four desktops.  Is there a way to programmatically change the background image of all of my desktops simultaneously?  Failing that, is there a way to a) find out how many desktops I have and b) loop through them, setting each of their backgrounds in turn?
    I did search the web and found the following suggestion:
         osascript -e "tell application \"System Events\" to set picture of every desktop to \"<path>\""
    Unfortunately, that also changes only the current desktop's picture.
    The larger script is in Perl, so I'd prefer a technology that works well with that language, but if I have to change to a different scripting language, that's not the end of the world.
    Thanks much for any suggestions!
    Richard

    Actually, “repeat with k from 18 to (18 + N - 1)” was not a good idea, since it works only with N < 5, as I discovered after posting the script.
    So here's an improved version of the previous script that should work with any number of desktops:
    set theFile to POSIX file "/Library/Desktop Pictures/Isles.jpg" -- just an example
    -- Find out how many desktops you have:
    tell application "System Preferences"
        reveal anchor "shortcutsTab" of pane id "com.apple.preference.keyboard"
        tell application "System Events" to tell window "Keyboard" of process "System Preferences"
            set N to count (UI elements of rows of outline 1 of scroll area 2 of splitter group 1 of tab group 1 whose name begins with "Switch to Desktop")
        end tell
        quit
    end tell
    -- Loop through the desktops, setting each of their backgrounds in turn:
    tell application "System Events" to key code 18 using {control down} -- Desktop 1
    tell application "Finder" to set desktop picture to theFile
    repeat (N - 1) times
        delay 1
        tell application "System Events" to key code 124 using {control down} -- ⌘→
        delay 1
        tell application "Finder" to set desktop picture to theFile
    end repeat

  • An applescript to change the background color for all finder windows

    I'll start off by telling you what I am trying to achieve, then show you what I've tried.
    I have a macbook with several HDD's attached. what I want is for each of those hdd to have a specific finder window background color. so no matter where I am in that hdd the background color will always be the same. so for instance if I set the background color of hdd 2 to blue then as long as I see a blue background I know that I'm within hdd 2.
    I've tried setting up an applescript to do this but can only get it to change the open finder window, and none of the subfolders have their backgrounds changed.
    here is what I have so far:
    tell application "Finder"
    tell the icon view options of the front Finder window
    set the background color to {52942, 54484, 31097}
    end tell
    end tell
    so how do I get this to apply to all subfolders without opening each one and running the script.
    thanks in advance for any and all help with this

    According to this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AppleScript/2.1/en/as2039.html
    it seems that the various options can only be set while the window is open and in icon view.
    Rather than manually opening the window of every single folder on the hard drive, it should be possible to write a script to open every folder in sequence, make sure it is in icon view, change its background, then close its window. I have never been any good at the "actions within actions" procedure needed for folders within folders, so maybe someone else with the necessary knowledge and experience might be able to assist in this regard. Such a script would probably take a few minutes to complete while it ran through "every folder of every folder", but it sure would be quicker to have the process automated than to do it by hand - computers are really good at repetitive tasks (as long as the instructions are accurate, of course!).
    On the other hand, you might like to try the following:
    open a few windows in icon view, choose Show View Options in the View menu (I'm in System 10.4), click the radio button All Windows, click the Color radio button under Background, then choose your color. It might achieve what you are trying to do.

  • Change the background color of a particular word without changing the background color of the rest of the text in a textbox

    Hello,
    I'm designing my own website and want to know how to change the background color of a particular word without changing the background color of the rest of the text in a textbox. If i can't do this, how can I create a Table, similar to Excel with iWeb?

    can I change the background color when I'm in a brochure layout? I've tried making a box in desired color but cannot push it to the back(not an option, it's greyed out)

  • Change the background color of selected row in adf table

    Hi,
    Can somebody guide me in changing the background color of a row when its being selected. In my ADF table, one of the column is of type Command Link. So whenever i click this command link on any particular row that complete row color should change as an indication of that row being selected.
    Please guide me to do this. I referred to other forum posts, but they couldnt meet my need.
    Thanks

    Hi Frank,
    you're right. This should work. But the result is not perfect from my point of view.
    I use
    <af:table ...>
      <af:column ...>
        <af:outputText value="#{row.col1}" inlineStyle="#{row.mystyle}"/>
      </af:column>
    </af:table>and I get e.g. this in HTML:
    <table ...>
      <tr>
        <td class="af_column_cell-text OraTableBorder1111"><span style="font-weight:bold;">qqq</span></td>
      </tr>
    </table>while I would prefer to get somethig like this:
    <table ...>
      <tr>
        <td style="font-weight:bold;"><span>qqq</span></td>
      </tr>
    </table>, which looks much smarter. Is it possible?
    Thanks,
    Alexandre.

  • How do I change the background color of a poster in pages?

    How do I change the background color using pages for ipad?  I am working with a poster template.

    I have done this before by using a for loop to change the active cell of a row in order to give the appearance that the whole row is turning the color at once.

  • How do I change the background color of the pages?

    I have been having trouble finding how to change the background color of the pages. I would prefer a black background.
    thanks

    Do you  know how to edit the template?   If not  simply  choose a rectangle shape, change colour to Black and using ARRANGE, send to back and  bring forward till it replaces whatever is there.
    The best way is to  pull down the book slide to reveal the Layout - which shows you the chapters and section etc  which make up a template.  You have to  use the same procedure on ever page from the template you intend to  use.
    In the Template Layout, select  your page. Click on whatever your background colour is...IF its unlocked you see the  square pull handles in corners - now simply select Black and it should change the colour - if not and its unlocked, it  may be a black image, in which case delete it, Insert a new rectangle, pull to  fit the  page and change colour to  black. It should now be hiding  the other content, ARRANGE > Send to Back and it should sit  behind all your content. Now go back to arrange and LOCK.
    You should see a red marker on  the left with whatever page you are editing "Save Changes" click it and its done... repeat on all other pages.

  • How Do I Change the Background Color in Keynote?

    Hello! I am trying to change the background color in Keynote, I can see where I should be able to do this, however my computer does not let me. If I change the template (in the Fun template from the standard to the horizontal picture) it will let me change it only in the box rather than the entire template. I really want to keep the style, just not the orange color. Thanks!

    Ruth, the background in Fun is an image, not just a colour. For the templates without photo cutouts, you will need to select the template, go into the Inspector, choose Slide, select the Appearance tab, and then in the background section you can change the image. If you just want to change the colour, you can choose Tinted Image Fill in the dropdown menu, then click the colour box to control the tint.
    Unfortunately, changing the Photo template is much more difficult, since the "background" image is actually a cutout placed on the slide above the actual background. As far as I know, changing this image will require access to fairly sophisticated graphics programs, such as Photoshop. However, if you are using Keynote 3, an alternative would be to create an image mask that is similar in shape to the cutout, as this would produce the same effect (cutouts are not nearly as vital now that images can be masked to a shape).
