Changing computer authorisation

brought new computer can't seem to login on the same ID and upload my ebooks. I will not be using the older computer with digital editions .. How can I do this ?

I'm having the same problem. Actually when I loaded Digital Editions onto my new computer I accidentially select No Adobe ID required. Now I need to transfer an eBook to my Nook. I went back to change the authorization but can't. I keep getting the message that an Adobe ID already exists against that email. I can't establish a new ID using a different email because the eBook is sent to me under my original authorization.

Does Windows not have a method of transferring everything from one computer to another?
You can use your backup copy of your computer to copy everything.
For the itunes portion, you can type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.
Windows should have a way to copy all doc/pics/files/contacts/calendars/etc.

Computer authorisation

Hi there - I am trying to use Adobe Digital Editions to download books onto my daughter's kobo. I have managed to set up an Adobe ID/password which works on the main Adobe site. The next step seems to be an Adobe dialogue box asking me to "authorise my computer". I have entered my Adobe I.D/password and am told "connection error. Digital Editions could not connect to the activation centre. Please make sure you are connected to the internet" I am connected. I see on these forums lots of people seem to have problems at this point. I have tried one of the solutions suggested - uninstalling Digital Editions 2.0, and using D.E 1.7.2 instead - unfortunately the link given seems to be to an expired page, so I've had to reinstall D.E 2.0 again. Computer authorisation still not working. Any other suggestions? Thanks - Jenny

One problem is that ADE does not accept passwords with special characters,
even though the web site allows you to set them and ADE won't tell you that is the problem.
Another is confused registration:

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. I have photoshop elements3 istalled and have ltos of pictures. Recently changed computer that has windows 8 and problems with some of my photos in that some of these have voicce comments that now cannot connect. Same applies to some 'movie pictures

Do you currently have the Intel chip turned off in the BIOS... or are you using the switchable graphics feature?
If you ARE using switchable graphics, that MAY be your problem

Now I want to use the software again but I cant find were to download it or how to activate it. I have in my e-mail the activation codes but they dont seem to work. what can I do? thanks for your time

The activation codes are specific to each computer, so if you changed your PC, you need to generate new activation codes or activate your software using the serial number.
You can register your serial number on the next page, so you can download versions of LabVIEW activated with that serial number.

Difficulty changing computer name and domain name

I have a working Xserve with the latest Snow Leopard Server and am having difficulty reconfiguring it from its keyboard.
I would like to edit the computer name and domain name and maintain all other server settings. I would prefer to do this off-line. However Server Admin appears not to work off-line and any attempt to change computer name or domain name removes all server settings from view including the serial number. I can recover everything by reinstating computer name etc and restarting on-line.
Is the serial number tied to the computer name and/or domain name?
Is there any way to retain my existing server settings for a different domain?
Is there any way to progress any of this off-line?

This has now been resolved. This note is to assist others who have the same problem.
1 - I had been changing the computer name in the place I had always done it - System Preferences/Sharing. This confused Server Admin. Reverting to the original name and changing computer name and location within Server Admin resolved the issue. That is System Preferences/Sharing is updated by Server Admin but not vice versa.
2 - Playing with these things can corrupt Server Admin plist resulting in a restarted Server Admin not seeing the edited server even with the server otherwise fully functioning. Trashing Server Admin plist resolved this for me without loss of server settings.
3 - Having set it up off-line I experienced difficulty as soon as I went on-line. This was resolved by changing the server from 'local' to its full domain name. I have no explanation for this as the same settings had previously worked with 'local'.
4 - Server Admin can take a long time to find settings and occasionally failed to do so until after a restart.

Changing Site Authorisations

We've got a new package of services to migrate with a changed site authorisation structure, does anyone have tips for beginners on migration?
We are concerned about services that are currently being approved using the existing site authorisation structure. As the system is still new to our users, we don't want any adverse publicity in relation to 'lost' requests.

just an update - we bit the bullet and changed site, group and service level permissions in our recent deployment. All service redesigns were renamed so we kept the original and revised services in production instead of over-writing.
So far so good - the only glitch was caused by me being over anxious. I moved the 'old' services into a superseded service group, which affected some permissions for performers of tasks already created. Nothing we couldn't work through though.

Leopard uses the stock icon with the image of your computer model for the "computer icon" in the sidebar. you can replace the stock image with your own if you wish and it will display that. go to /System/Library/CoreServices. control-click on Coretypes.bundle and select "show bundle contents". in the resulting window go to contents->resources. locate the icon file corresponding to your computer model. mine is com.apple.macpro.icns. replace this icon file with yur own (it has to be a .icns file) and log out/in. I suggest you back up the stock icon before you do this in case you want it back.
