Changing Dedicated Video Ram in BIO's

Over the past few weeks, I have tried to change my dedicated video RAM in the BIO's, but in the advanced section, it does not contain a spot for video RAM, I have tried other tutorials on Youtube, but they don't seem to work neither, is there any way to change my video RAM, because I want to play the latest games, and i'm always lacking on video RAM, with my 512 Mb of video RAM.

  • Is it possible to use my ram as dedicated video ram on windows 8 bootcamp

    i have a mid 2014 MacBook pro
    8gb of ram
    dual core i5

im using my mac for gaming and need some dedicated video ram, I saw other computers like asus or Toshiba that were able to boot into windows bios and change there ram as dedicated ram, bootcamp has no bios so im wondering if there any third party applications of something built into bootcamp that would allow me to change a setting like that.
    thanks in advance

How is graphics memory allocated in Windows 8/8.1*?
The Microsoft Windows 8/8.1 operating system adds improved support for graphics, simplifying graphics, memory configuration, and management. As part of this new graphics memory management, the Intel® HD Graphics Driver leaves more of the graphics memory sizing to Windows 8/8.1.
W8+ report GPU memory differently as compared to OSX.

  • T420 Dedicated Video Ram

    Hello all,
I couple years ago I bought my girlfriend a Lenovo T420 for college. While not designed to be a gaming laptop, we've been able to get by playing most everything without a problem. Recently I started playing Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn, but she is unable to even download to her computer due to low dedicated RAM (she has 64 MB, but the minimum req is 256 MB). Is there any way to increase the dedicated video RAM or anything we can do so she can play without having to buy a new computer (since we're trrying to save for a wedding we're pretty strapped for cash)? I've read in a few places that some folks have been able to build external graphics cards for their laptops, but I don't know if this is even an option. Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it!

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Memory remapping for the Graphics is done through BIOS. If the remapping feature is not available in BIOS under configuration, it means that it is either set to Auto or to a certain amount.
Right-click on the Desktop and click Personalize. Click Display in the bottom left corner of the Window. Click the Change display settings on the left column. Click the advanced settings link and you can view the total available memory to the graphics card as well as the dedicated memory. The dedicated memory is how much memory your video card has.
Refer this knowledgebase for a better understanding.
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Bootcamp Dedicated Video RAM

    Hey guys,
I have a 2012 13'' inch macbook pro. This has the Intel HD 4000 graphics card. I have upgraded it to 16GB of RAM and and have windows 8.1 installed on a bootcamp partition.
Currently on my windows side it says that I only have 32mb of dedicated video ram.  On the apple side it says I have 512mb.  I would like to increase the dedicated video RAM on the windows side to fully use what my computer is capable of.  Normally in a windows computer to change your video RAM amount you go into the BIOS section, but since this is on a mac it doesn't have one.
I have been through about a billion tech support calls so here is a list of the things I've tried.
    What I've tried:
         1.  Using Refind to access BIOS on this.
-The new version doesn't seem to do much for windows as the only bootup option I am given is to bootup normally
         2.  Force the intel HD graphics driver 15.33.30.64.3958 to download and install
-Forcing it still doesn't have it run properly.  I've contacted intell and they say their drivers don't always work on laptops
         3.  Using parallels
-Unfortunately parallels runs extremely slowly when you're trying to use 512 mb of dedicated video ram for some reason
Any help, or a direction to go in would be greatly appreciated.

You may not need to do all this. Please read http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033984.htm .

  • Dedicated Video RAM (64 MB?!?!?!)

Could someone explain me what dedicated Video RAM is, please? I have the better MBP 13'' with the Intel HD Graphics 4000.  Behind that information it say "512". I thought that meant I'd have 512 MB VRAM! True?
If I check a game on canyourunit.com (I have Bootcamp Win 7 64 Bit) it always says my dedicated Video Ram would be too low. I would only have 64MB. According to that website I wouldn't even be able to play Age of Empires III, well I can play that game perfectly...
    Can someone help me out?
    Thanks! Passer

The video memory (Vram) on any Intel integrated graphics is dynamic meaning that the amount allocated is dependant on  :
The amount of total memory installed in the machine ie 2Mb, 4Mb etc
The program being used and how graphically demanding it is.
Thus the machine will allocate anything from 64 Mb upto 768Mb, you as the user can not normally change this.
(This is the same for Windows machines with Intel graphics)
    Custom mini.

  • 785GM-P45 with 1GB dedicated video memory in bios

has anyone able to allocate 1GB for dedicated video memory in bios and has at least 8GB of RAM. i had already updated the bios to version 11.8, with any 3 sticks of kingston 2GB RAM I can allocate 1GB for video memory in the bios, but the minute that i have the 4th stick install, the pc will not complete boot into windows. with only 3 sticks, it doesn't matter which memory slot is open, it will boot into windows and shows 1GB dedicated video memory. all the RAM tested fine with remtest. with all 4 stick install it will only boot into windows with 512mb dedicated video memory. thanks in advance.

There isn't a single thing in the world that uses so much videomemory.

  • Can I change the graphic card on Toshiba Satellite S55-A5295 or add more dedicated video RAM?

Hello, I am wondering if it was possible to change my graphics card. Currently its using the basic (Intel HD Graphics 4000/Family). If thats not possible then I'd also like to know if it was possible to dedicate more video RAM since it currently has 64MB out of the total 1696 avaliable graphics memory. And before someone mentions the BIOS option sadly its not shown there. Please let me know if I have any options!

There is no option to change the GPU on this laptop model. As per memory sharing, it is done automatically by the chipset sharing around 10-20% of the physical memory to the graphics memory.
What will you be using the higher ram?
Is it gaming, media editing (video / photo), or 3D editing?

  • Tecra M10-1H4 - Changing shared video RAM value?

    Hi there,
I have a Tecra M10, with the standard 2GB of RAM, I also added an extra 256mb in the available RAM slot. Can I change the shared Graphics RAM value? In the properties of XP Pro I can see it is set at 1024MB which is silly since I only have 2.25GB in the machine.
I can't seem to locate any settings even in the BIOS, where I thought I could change this. It is a mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chip. Any help is appreciated...
I also seem to get some horrible slow downs on the laptop too, when I have about 10 different windows open, (be it the same app or different ones) when I switch to a different window/app on occasion I have to wait for the laptop to redraw the new window very slowly?
I've updated the driver too - claims i'm on: 6.14.10.4953
    Cheers
    TC

    Hi buddy,
No, you cant change the value of video memory. Everything will be controlled automatically and there is no value in BIOS or display driver where you can change this.
Video RAM depends on RAM you use on your notebook. Increasing system memory the values for total available graphic memory, decided video memory and shared system memory will be higher and higher.
So, to get more video RAM upgrade your notebook with more system RAM.

  • HP ENVY TS m6 Sleekbook dedicated video ram

Hello, I have an HP Envy TS m6 Sleekbook (Product number E0K41UA#ABA) with 16gb memory that I installed.  I would like to change my settings to dedicate some memory (either 512 or 1024mb) strictly to video in order to play a high quality game.  So far I have been unable to find a way to do this, either through my regular settings or Bios.  Is this possible on my computer, and if so, how would I go about it?  thank you!

Your GPU has its own ram , and thus it cannot be changed by any means.

That doesn't sounds right did you check your BIOS setting to set more RAM for VRAM? That's that only other place you can make that setting.
