Changing default email program for Control Click file to use Outlook

Hi,
We have an interesting issue when when you Control click a file and select "New email with Attachment" it always brings up Mail, I want to change this to Outlook (latest office for Mac). I have checked everywhere for this setting and made sure Outlook is set as the default mail program everywhere.
Can someone point me in the right direction and this would be a quick win for out customer.
Thanks,
Bob James

"New Email with Attachment" is a Service provided by Mail.app. To use Outlook, you would need an Outlook service. If Microsoft doesn't provide one, it might be possible to make your own using Automator. If you search, somebody might have already done that.

  • How can I change iCal's default email program for sending alerts?

Using iCal 1.5.5 with OS 10.3.9.
I have Thunderbird as my default mail client in my OS.
When I set iCal to send an alert via email it opens up Apple Mail instead of using Thunderbird which is my OS default.
Is there a way to change this so iCal will use Thunderbird?
    Thanks, Rob

I'm not positive on this and am not at my Mac right now, but I could you check if it has to do with the 'system-wide' default email client?
Follow the steps here to set the system wide email client to be Thunderbird: http://www.mariasguides.com/2007/12/21/changing-mac-os-xs-default-e-mail-applica tion/. I would quit iCal and Thunderbird first (if they are open), open Mail and complete the described steps, then open iCal and try to send an invitation.
Hopefully it works! If not, then it's not related to the default email client; my suspicion is that it would have to do with Apple simply making iCal to function this way.

  • How do I make gmail the default email program for email links in the Mozilla browser?

In previous versions of Mozilla I was able to click an email link , for example, on a craigslist listing and it would automatically open my gmail login page or if I was already logged in it would prompt a new email (compose) with the email field already populated with the email link from which it was prompted. Hard to explain but currently it initiates an Outlook Express session which I don't use or even have configured. How is this process edited to work the way I would like it to? Thanks

  • How to change default response encoding for not jsp files

    Hi
    Question about Weblogic Portal&Serwer 10.
For standard web applications from war archiwes, html etc. files are send with default server response
    "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1".
The question is how to disable this default header
or how to change this header to correct encoding.
    PS.
I found solution only for ear' applications ...
with file META-INF/weblogic-application.xml and webapp.encoding.default parameter. This works well for ear's.

Thanks. I feel a bit like a dummy for not seeing that but so it goes. What I was looking for, in a perfect world, was to set a preference to permanently sert a default folder on an external drive to store the .dvdproj files once they are made.......but your suggestion is close enough to my original intention.
    Thanks again.

  • Changing default jpeg compression for Web Gallery files

I have created several web galleries from both Raw and Jpeg files with Iphoto '08 that suffer from serious jpeg compression artifacts. I haven't found any way to change the compression amount to reduce the artifacts. Is there actually a way?

    papasteveo:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is no way in iPhoto for the user to manage the jpg compression of the web gallery photos. If the option for visitors to download the photos is selected the copy that's uploaded is compressed approximately equivalent to an Photoshop quality setting of 8 or 9 out of 12. The pixel dimensions are the same as the original unless the max dimension in the original exceeds 3054. The the file is resized to 3054 max dimension.
If the gallery is just for viewing the image is resized to 800 x 600 with additional compression.
You could manually replace the file with one that you've prepared but it would be very tedious as each file has it's own folder and the file name is changed to web.jpg (viewing only) or large.jpg (download). You would have to rename each file to be uploaded to the new name and make sure it's placed in the correct folder.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

You will have to sign out of iCloud, then sign in with the new Apple ID. Same with iTunes and the App Store.

  • Choosing Default Program for Opening .doc files

    Hi all,
A couple of days ago I somehow managed to change my default program for opening .doc files to Pages and I would rather use Microsoft Word as the default. I dont know how I ended up changing this default, but I would like to know how to put the default back to MS Word.
    Thanks for any help!

Choose any one of the files you want to change. Then, command-i to "Get Info". Open the disclosure triangle under "Open With" choose "Microsoft Word" then click on "Change All".

File, Send link doesn’t open a new email. Running Firefox 11.0. Outlook 2010 is the Mailto default and the W7 default email program. On the About:config page, network.protocol-handler.external.mailto is set to regular font (not bold) “default Boolean true”.

I assume you have tried toggling the setting in Firefox between Outlook and, say, Gmail:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Applications
In the search box, type or paste '''mailto''' and pause for the list to filter.
Change the setting and OK to save it, then return to the dialog, change back, and OK again.
You also might want to toggle the setting at the OS level between Microsoft Outlook and the native Windows Mail client in a similar fashion. In Windows XP you could use IE's Options dialog, Programs tab, for this, but I'm not sure in Windows 7.
Since one possibility is a problem in your Firefox settings (including the possibility of interfering add-ons), and another is a problem at the Windows level (e.g., Registry settings), it would be useful to try to identify which one it is. One quick way to distinguish is to create a new Firefox profile. It will start up with all factory settings. You can switch back to your existing profile after testing.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
After closing Firefox, start up again in the Profile Manager as described in this article: [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles].
With the new profile, can Firefox successfully create a message in Outlook?

  • When i download a file from the web i get "Anti-Virus Program not found " message. This has been happening since I change anti-virus programs for CA etrust to Sophos. How do I get Firefox to recognise my new Anti-virus program?

every time i download a file from the web (ie. a PDF file) i get "Anti-Virus Program not found " message. This has been happening since I changed anti-virus programs for CA etrust to Sophos. How do I get Firefox to recognise my new Anti-virus program?

That is a very good warning provided by the Download Statusbar extension. Something like that should been built into Firefox. I filed this Bug report a couple of years ago, about the lack of a warning like that. <br />
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480855 <br />
I have looked everywhere that I can think of to find a list of '''IOfficeAntiVirus providers''' ''(as mentioned in the Bug report)'' that will work with Firefox, so I can't answer that for you.
You might want to ask the developer of the Download Statusbar extension about it. He might know which AV programs are compatible with the Windows API that Firefox uses for the download scan. <br />

  • How to change the email client for the 'Review' features.  Acrobat Pro X

Acrobat Pro X (10.1.2) was installed on a system that used Lotus Notes (v8.5) email client, all was well.  The system was then upgraded to MS Outlook 2010, so Outlook is now the email client on system.  While reading a PDF document an email address can be double clicked and a new Outlook message is started.  Problem is on the Comment toolbar the features under Review will still prompt for a Lotus Notes password.   Seems Acrobat is still wanting to email ‘reviews’ using Notes.  Finding no Option to change here and GOOGLing at this to no avail am posting here.
A registry tweak or some INI file to change here?  Any help please.  My fallback plan is to remove and re-install Acrobat Pro.

Try making sure your default email program is set under Edit > Preferences > Internet category > Internet Settings ...Programs tab in Acrobat.
You can also try doing a Help > Repair Acrobat installation since you installed Outlook after installing Acrobat.

  • How do I make other email programs my Default Email programs in Windows XP?

I'm not the most tech savvy person, but I've researched this, and haven't found the solution yet. Doing a search it tells you to go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>click on Set Program Access and Defaults>Click the Drop-Down menu under "Custom."
Then under "Custom," there's a heading in bold titled, "Choose a default e-mail program:"
I look to choose Firefox, but it doesn't exist. There are 3 options given.
    1) Use my current email program, which is checked. (but how does it know what it is?)
    2) Outlook Express (off to the right checked off is "Enable access to this program.")
    3) Windows Live Mail (off to the right checked off is "Enable access to this program.")
    - I know Firefox does not have email, but I figured someone out there has a similar problem and can help.
** I'm trying to add Yahoo, Gmail, and Aol mail to this list, but I have no idea how to do it.
** I've already changed the program used to open email links in the Firefox browser settings: Tools>Option>Application>scroll down to "mailto" and there are options for Yahoo, Gmail, Aol mail.
** On the Set Program Access and Defaults menu as I explained above, there are other headings in bold. The one above the "choosing a default email program" is "choose a default web browser." Firefox is an option there, so I didn't have to add it.

Hi the-edmeister. Thank you for your response.
How come in several screen shots I've seen online searching for this solution in XP, the default email programs listed contain at least one of: yahoo, gmail, and aol?
I understand they're web mail portals, but they are still appearing under the "Default Email Program" heading in "Custom."

  • Default email program setting won't stick

    Hi,
I use Outlook 2011 on my MacBook Pro, with OS 10.7.5. Often when I click a mailto link (or choose "send as email attachment" in Word), Mail launches instead of Outlook.
I know how to change the setting for default email program in both Outlook and Mail. The problem is that the settings I choose do not stick. Somehow, Mail turns itself back into the default email program.
I could uninstall Mail although some people suggest this is a bad idea, and in any event it seems a bit of a cop out. I guess my preferences are corrupted? Will Preferential Treatment help?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    LDS

I have the same problem.  Changing the default option in Mail doesn't fix it (nor does selecting the option in Outlook to make it the default).
