Changing default folder

Currently, Adobe Reader defaults to the Recent folder when I open the app (on  Nexus 7). I would love to switch it so that it defaults to opening the Documents (folder view) instead, but I haven't been able to find the setting. Is this something I can adjust, or do I have to switch folders every time  I open the program so I can find the file I want?

Reader should idle when in the background (unless it is actively transferring a file to the cloud, which it will finish and then idle). It should have no other background activity beyond that, so you shouldn't need to force it to exit. I know that there are other apps that will keep running at some level in the background, but we've made an effort to comply with the Android application lifecycle and shut down when we're not foreground.

  • Changing default folder for photo export

In iPhoto '09, version 8.1.2, under the new Mavericks operating system, whenever I want to export a photo from iPhoto, the default recipient folder is Documents.  I want them sent to the Desktop by default.  I can't find any way of changing this default.  Can anyone help?  (This seems to be new behavior under Mavericks.)
       Bob Anderson

Long time since I used 09, but in 11 it defaults to the last used folder. Have you tried pointing it to the desktop and then seeing if the subsequent exports go there?
Failing that a couple of things: in any export dialogue command-d will point immediately to the desktop. For more elaborate and feature rich alternatives check out Default Folder X

  • Change default folder view?

Hi. I was wondering if there was a way to change the default folder view. For instance, I'd like it so that when I create a new folder or open a new window it would be automatically in list view mode, and with the specific columns I want. Is this possible?

From the "view" menu choose "List View" uncheck in Prefs where you may have checked "Open new windows in column view".

  • Changing Default Folder Icon

How is the default folder icon changed within the system? I have a folder icon I want to use to replace the original blue folder.

    Hi, Kirk -
There's a couple of ways to do that.
The easy way is to use Kaleidoscope - with it you can make customize the GUI's appearance a little or a lot.
The more difficult way is to use Apple ResEdit to alter the resources that Finder uses for that item, which can be found in the System file, the icl4 and icl8 resources.
Using Kaleidoscope has some advantages - changes won't disappear when the software is updated; and the changes are not made to the OS's files. They are superimposed externally, meaning it is easy to undo them - just turn Kaleidoscope off.
If you use ResEdit to do it, be sure to work on a copy of the System file, not on the original. Hang onto the original in case you evern want to revert back.
There is a third way, easier in principle than the previous two, but very tedious - change the icon for each folder you want to have the new icon individually. This is done via Copy and Paste in the Get Info window for an item. In the Get Info window, click on the pocture of the icon - a black box will appear around it, indicating the icon has been selected. You can then do a Copy or a Paste operation of the icon.

  • Outlook 2011 - I can change default folder?

How i can change default open folder in Outlook 2011 (update 14.1.3)?
And how i can change default incoming mail folder (POP account)?

Here is what worked for me.
    changing the default application server.
    1) Verify that JSC2 is creating a WAR file in the project's dist directory.
    2) Download the Sun Java System Application Server 8.1
    3) Install the application server on another computer. E.g. 192.168.1.110
I changed the default port from 8080 to 80 because I wanted to port forward.
Don't know if this is required.
    4) Start the server! Browse to 192.168.1.110:80 and verify the server started.
    5) Run the admin console (192.168.1.110:4848) and manually deploy the WAR file
If you can't do this, it wont go.
Your browser might appear to get stuck. Wait for it to finish! Check your logs for errors.
If you get stuck, doublecheck that the server directory isn't write-protected.
    Test with a browser 192.168.1.110:80/ProjectName
    6) Tell JSC2 about the new server
Servers Tab -> Remote Servers -> rightclick -> Add Remote Server...
Select the right kind of server (Sun Java System Application Server 8.1)
    Admin Host: 192.168.1.110
    Admin Port: 4848
    Username: admin or whatever
    Password: shhhhh!
    7) Configure JSC2 to deploy the project to a different server during testing.
Projects Tab -> Right-click the project -> Properties -> Run -> select the new server.
    8) Click the little green triangle and it should deploy and start a browser to test.
    Trouble-shooting:
    - Problems will occur if you attempt to do things to fast. Don't cancel out of operations.
    - Don't modify any of you build.xml files
    - Don't compress the war file
    - Restart everything if you hit a problem
    - Don't ask me, I don't know anything about it. I just fiddled with it till it worked.
    - Turn off Netlimiter! (or any other bandwidth manager)
    - Turn off Antivirus monitoring software (stuff runs faster - security rish though)

  • Change Default Folder in Digital Editions?

How do you change the default folder in Digital Editions?

    Hi IceMaiden.
Yes, doing  a "Save As" and specifying a new drive should update the default storage location.
You can also move your project folders from your C drive to your external drive. (Don't change anything in the project folders; just copy the whole folder.)
To open your saved projects from the new location, use the Browse button on the saving screen and then browse to that drive.

  • Change default Folder for iTunes downloads?

The help section tells me how to change the folder in which internet files and podcasts are downloaded. But I don't know how to change the folder in which the music files I get right from iTunes are downloaded to. I tried changing the folder for internet/podcast files, but the songs are still going to the My Music folder in My Documents. I don't want my songs going to that folder as I already have another folder where I put my music. Any help would be appreciated.

you can take an event and "consolidate events" and that (should) allow you to move the events from that project to the other harddrive (Back-up first!). For new projects, when you import the video, import it to the new HD. I'm not sure that the project can be stored on that HD, needs to be where the iMovie application is i think, BUT, the information in the project is minimal compared to the video footage, so you will free up LOTs of space on main HD by not storing the video footage there.

i was just wondering .... with such a powerful machine and software the inability to rename default folders looks like a handicap.
I must say i don't miss it at all myself but to each his own.
various applications and system itself depend on those folders to be where they are and have fixed names. renaming them can have highly unpredictable consequences.
Do you know of any mods or scripts to do this? just curious!
no, I don't. in general, OS X has NEVER been famous for moddability. exactly the opposite is true and has been OS X philosophy from the beginning. it can be quite annoying at times but that's how it is. if you want high moddability look elsewhere.
    Thanks for the reply

  • Change default folder image

Is there any way to change the default for image for new folders? I want to be able to change all of my folders to black without having to change every individual image.

As camickr said, it can be found in the Java Tutorial.
         DefaultTreeCellRenderer rend =  new DefaultTreeCellRenderer();
         rend.setLeafIcon(new ImageIcon("leaf.gif"));
         rend.setOpenIcon(new ImageIcon("open.gif"));
         rend.setClosedIcon(new ImageIcon("closed.gif"));
         myJTree.setCellRenderer(rend);

  • ICloud not syncing when you change default folder

    Hi,
there seems to be an issue with iCloud not syncing photostream when you choose a different folder to store your pictures. Though if you'd still like to have your photostream pictures in a different folder, use my solution:
    1. Close all apple executables from task manager (ApplePhotStreams.exe, iCloudServices.exe)
    2. Remove C:\Users\<Username>\Pictures\iCloud Photos
    3. Create a symbolic link to the folder you'd like to use:
Start a command prompt, and use the following command to create a symbolic link:
         mklink "C:\Users\<Username>\Pictures\iCloud Photos" "<newpath>"
Where <newpath> is the path where you'd like to store your pictures.
    4. Start iCloud and sign out
    5. sign in again and apply settings
    6. Enjoy!

No, what I am saying is that the ones that have it on by default seem to work properly. The ones that you have to go in and enable the feature do not seem to save to iCloud once that option has been enabled. I've ran into several:
Don't save to iCloud (Have to go in an toggle the setting)
    Anomaly Warzone HD
    Zombieville USA
    Cut the Rope experiments
DO save to iCloud (Setting is on by default)

  • Acrobat 8 Pro WIN-Changing default folder view when attaching a document

Just wondering if anyone has any idea how to change this setting. The problem is this:
-In an open PDF, click on the Add Attachment button
In the Add Attachment Window the Default View is Details and I'd like it to be List instead. Also, is there a way to change the default file location to My Documents? Thanks much.

I remember what the difference is. I used to have different choices. [Open] [Save] [Cancel]
I used to Always choose OPEN for pdfs. I could choose to save later if I decided to keep the file. Is this a change that Adobe made? A browser plug-in, maybe?
I really dont want to save EVERYTHING, and have to remember to drag it to the recycle bin later.
    Any help?

  • When I change the default folder to save downloads in the options menu, it later reverts to the default folder even though I have made not changes in options. Any ideas? thanks!

In the Options menu I changed the default download location (folder) to a folder I have on my desktop and saved the changes. But this option reverts to the default folder when I turn on my computer and open FF the next day.

    Thank you for your response.
I do use CCleaner and just ran it. It did not change the download option folder that I had changed from the default so it appears that this is not cause.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again!

  • How to Change Outlook Default Folder for Insert-Attachment and Save Email/Attachemnt while Outlook is open (VBA)

    Hello,
    Office 2010 32bit, VBA
Is it possible to programmatically do the above while Outlook is running?  If so, I'm hoping to make that change from a Word macro.
I tried tinkering with the reg key and that doesn't work because it appears Outlook only respects it at startup time. Similary changing Word File-options-location of documents is respected only when Outlook starts.
I'm looking to seamlessly keep Outlook's default folder in sync with Word's default folder as the users change working folders in Word, which they do many times per day (and they chose the folder among a couple of thousand possibilities).
I'm hoping there is a difficult-to-find Outlook object I can manipuate to get to the end result.  IF there is such an Object I have been unable to find it.
    Many thanks!
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
Based on my research, I think outlook object model doesn’t provide the way to change the default folder for insert attachment and save email/attachment.
The way to change it is that we need to modify the registry setting and the outlook app should be restart.

You may create the add-in to custom these actions (e.g. attach attachment, save email)

You are attempting to download the picture to your computer not uploading photo to the website if I am understanding you correctly.
