Changing default open file location
Hi all,
In Outlook 2010, is there anyway to change the default folder that is opened by explorer when you want to open any pst files?
I have tried the registry changes listed in other forums but this only changes the default save location. I have managed to change the default open location for Word, Excel etc but not Outlook.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Hi,
Do you mean you want to change the default location when you click File > Open > Open Outlook Data File?
We can achieve this goal by modifying the registry, I managed to do this in my environment. Please follow the steps below:
Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it.
Locate the registry path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook
Add the ForcePSTPath registry value:
Value name: ForcePSTPath
Value type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value: path to your storage folder
Restart your Outlook to check the result.

Version Cue CS3 Change Default Local File Location
Hi All
I've done a bit of searching around and can't find an answer to this.
We have a bit of a Hybrid network which involves roaming profiles / TS profiles and all manner of stuff I have not yet found. The upshot of this is that profile size affects all manner of things.
Vesion Cue CS3 places local files into your user folders (and thereore your profile) by default.
Is there a way to change the default location of these files? I dont need them on a network share, the local disc is fine but just not in 'my documents'.
I am aware I can do it on a project by project basis, but as I deal in hundreds of projects this is impractical. That is to say I need to have the local files end up in the right place when I first sync.
Thanks Very Much for your help
ColinI'm sorry Curt,
I don't understand your point.
CS3 does, in fact have Version Cue, and does put files in certain places. So I don't follow what you are getting at. -
Windows 7 ultimate task manager can not open file location
hi, I just re-installed the Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop several weeks ago, everything goes well until I find this error. When I open Task Manger and right click one process, then an error occurs when I click "Open File Location". It shows as
"taskmgr.exe
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
There is no any information in the windows event log about this error and I try to search online but without any solution. Could anyone help me figure this out? TIA!Hi,
Since it prompts that it is related with file association, you can try fixing it.

Adjust default 'open file' window
Hi, I am a MAC fanatic.... I work all day on my MAC 27" and am constantly opening files....
But how do I customise the 'open file' window. Every time I open a file I have to increase the size of the window, change the view and then look for my files.... is there a way to set the default view to what I would wish it to be?
I have enclosed a screen shot of the default open file window.... I would like a bigger window...... and be able to see 'list view' as opposed to icons each time.
All suggestions would be useful....
Thank you....I don't know how to have the Open window resized by default. However, for the list view just click on the List button in the Open window toolbar:
Once you select the List view in the Open window it should be the default from then on. -
I just installed on a new computer and I cannot find out what to change to
point to a specific folder as the default project file location. It is not
in Scratch Disks.
Anybody know?
SteveI think it just comes up automatically in the last folder used. Not sure that can be changed.

Default Project File Location - PE7
Can anyone help please
I have been looking for a way to edit my default Project file location. Have managed to change all the Scratch disk locations to my (Local) F: Drive, but I cannot see a way to change the default location for Projects to be the same drive.
I know I can set it each time I start a project, but it seems strange with modern software to be unable to define a default.
I've searched the Registry and can't find anything there, and I cannot see anything in Edit>Preferences. Also searched the forum, but couldn't find an answer.
Thanks
ColinThanks for the prompt and helpful reply. Really is much appreciated.
I'm going to print off your response and use it for my next project (in a couple of days).
Looks perfectly logical way of working.

After searching for some files, when I right click on any file from the search window and click "open file location", the file location is opened in the same search window there by detroying my search. In Vista this option would open the file location in a separate window. This is really annoying if I want to open locations of several files from the search window.
The more thorough explanation of how to do this is right-click the item then CTRL-Left Click "Open file Location". This will open it in a new window.
I agree that Microsoft makes unnecessary changes to the operating system which cause it to behave less productively. The search is an important part of an operating system and Microsoft managed to make it the worst part.
Bring back the XP search option. I'm very sad so see this terribly executed search is still the norm in Windows 8.
To put it bluntly, I don't use Windows by choice, it's my job to deal with it. -
How to change default save as location
hi,
how to change default save as location in acrobat 7.0?Why is Acrobat involved in this process at all? Why don't you save directly the pdf from your email program directly where you want it to be? Acrobat is just adding another step to this process.

See above question.
Hi trshaner,
Thanks again for your complete reaction. I’ve looked at the video and the help-information. This made me decide to leave the file My pictures where it is (C) and move some of the other folders/files to the E-drive. Thanks for your help.

Open file located in the HTMLResources with adobeDPS.dialogService.open()
Is it possible to open file located in the HTMLResources with adobeDPS.dialogService.open()?
Method adobeDPS.dialogService.open('http://www.google.com/') - works well, but it not support relative URLs
I can make button in InDesign layout with url "HTMLResources/faq.html",
but how to make HTML-button in web-overlay that opens file from HTMLResources in slideup webview?
ThanksHi, Why do you need to use HTMLResources?
You can try use all HTML files (faq.html too) in web content.
Do you want a lightbox effect, than your webcontent frame need to be the same size of page
I believe that the results is quite similar.

Changing default open with for file type for all users
hello
can I change the default app to open a specific file type for all users and not juist for my user?
i am admin for my mac mini.
tnx
gilWhat applications are offered for open with depends on the application itself informing the system it can open certain files, plus your own custom selections for opening files. Evidently the alternate app you want to use does not claim to be able to open the files you are assigning it. If you have a plist editor and know how to use it you could edit the info.plist file inside the application itself to add the file type you want to the application's declaration of file types it will open. Then restart so the system will read that declaration. I think it would be far easier to simply launch the application and then drop a file you want it to open onto its icon in the Dock.

I can't change the "open file" directory location
I've got a new installation of version HomeSite 5, which
works really well except that I cannot get the Open File dialog box
to go to the last directory I opened. So EVERY single time I want
to, say, get a graphic from a directory, I have to double click my
way down the path to reach the same directory I just picked up a
previous file from. It doesn't seem to matter whether I have
checked "Start in the folder last opened in the Files tab" or
"Start in the folder last opened in the file open dialog." The
"Always start in this folder" DOES work -- but that's not
sufficient.
Is there somewhere else I need to change or check something
to get the Open File to always open in the directory I last
opened?! (REALLY frustrating!)
Thanks, ElenorNot sure if this will help - you can dock 2 panes for files.
If I am working with a large site I will sometimes do the code work
in #1 open an images directory in #2.
Hope that helps! -
Need to find a scripts for changing default "Open with" iTunes app to Quick
Hello all...
I'm new to scripting but need a script really quickly...
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a script that will change the default "Open with" of audio files placed within a certain folder on my desktop...
I'm making sound clips with WireTap and dumping them in a folder called WireTapExports as .mp3. I then need to play them without using iTunes (and importing them by default) but going into the "Get Info" and manualy changing the "Open With" settings for each file is taking ages...and it's very irratating...
Is there a way I can make all audio file put in that folder automaticaly open with Quicktime instead.
I know this is quite easy to most but I've only just started looking at Applescript (i.e. a few days ago) and but I need this to work now...
Many thanks in advance...
PigeonCake...Not what you want, but if you hold the control key while getting info it changes to summary info which then lets you change the preferred application on a batch of files in one go.

Folks,
I changed something, but don't know what. I want ACR to open for RAW or JPEGs. I believe my prefs are set correctly in both ACR and Bridge. DblClk in Bridge should open ACR; it opens photoshop. I've gone to Finder and a file Get Info > Open all files with Adobe Bridge. This isn't working. How can I change the Right Clik >Photoshop CS4 (Default) to either ACR or Bridge?
Frustrated,
Regards to all,
CharlesHow do you use JPEGs? Seems to me the easiest way to make minor JPEG
adjustmentisACR! Dclk > Adjust >Done.
I don't make adjustments to jpegs
Only work in Raw and save as PSD files. Those files can be resized and saved
as jpeg to customers needs. Once you have saved a jpeg you should not make
changes to them because that will cause loss of quality, you don't have that
whit PSD or Tiff files.
When you have good reasons to shoot in jpeg you should do so but the changes
that you can make with them in ACR are very limited compared to use of Raw
files.
My importing from camera continues to be a mixed bag. I shoot raw 90% and
make JPGs via ACR (after importing) as I need them. It''s the copying to
folder, subfolder, other drive, convert to DNG, Add meta data, Keyword...ALL
on Import seems overwhelming; and it is. I just import to a folder and decide
then, almost one by one.
I use Adobe Photodownloader for that, in Bridge choose Get files from camera
and explore the advanced setting, you can do a lot in one click.
Thanks for the input on 'Open With'. I've been having some problems with
Expression Media 2 and I've been trying different methods to get that right.
One of the things I tried was to Repair Permissions in Disk Utility. I think,
but I'm not certain, that that may have corrected the Open With situation.
It is always good to use system maintenance every now and then
Here's a question about Replying to this forum. How do you include the partial
reply? Do you 'Copy & Paste' a selected text? For example, How did you add
"Still can not change the 'Open With' etc., etc." comment in your reply?
On the forum site you can do so when you use the reply button and then use
the tool bar above to quote. But I use my email application (Office for Mac
2008) and simply select the text I want to quote and then choose reply. -
Change default upload file destination?
When I upload photo files from a camera card, LR automatically comes up with a default file location under "My Pictures" (Windows XP). I file all my photos on an E: drive and it takes a bunch of mouse clicks to get there. Is there any way to change the LR default destination drive?
This may be OS related. On my Mac OS X 10.4.9, the "sticky" setting is saved between sessions. I just looked.
Now, I wasn't importing from a card. Just deleting and re-importing from a hard drive. But my experience as near as I can recall is that the changed setting for destination is "remembered" from one import to another.
