Changing default "other language" fonts

Hi,
I am a Thai mac user. I am pretty ok with Lucilda grande as my default system fonts. But when I switch to thai keyboard layout, the default Thai font for it is quite bad. Is there anyway to change this font? (I don't even know what font it is.) This font seems to be the default font for thai characters in all applications too.

I think this font is Lucida Grande (which includes Thai as well as Hebrew, Cyrillic, and Latin). Surely you can tell by opening the Font Panel and switching among them. I think the only way you can choose a different default font is if the particular app you are using has a setting for that. For instance, Nisus Writer Express has preferences that tie keyboard layouts to fonts.

    If your NLS_LANG is properly set to chinese character set and if you are choosing the right chinese fonts, in Reports builder, your report paper layout should display chinese characters properly.
    If you are generating to PDF, then you might want to use PDF subsetting to display the chinese characters properly.

  • Opening terminal with applescript - changes default input language....

    When I try to use Applescript to open terminal, it opens it but changes the input language to Japanese, so anything that I attempt to feed into terminal via applescript turns into nonsense Japanese. (The default language is English and kotoeri is set to romaji/roman alphabet by default)
    How do i stop this?

    Since my snow leopard MBP can't handle smb mounts, I've resorted to using sharity, except that its gui crashes the instant I try to mount a drive. But I can mount samba shares using sharity from the command line. I'd like to have it mount on startup which is supposedly something sharity can accomplish from its gui but since that doesn't work I would like to write an applescript and add it to the login items. I haven't been able mount it using do shell script as the sharity command line, unlike the normal samba mount command) doesn't seem to have an option of entering the password, so the mount fails:
    sharity mount smb://user@address/folder
    I thought if I open terminal via applescipt, then have it 'type' the command followed by a delay, then type the password, I could get around it but when I open terminal in applescipt, it starts in Japanese:
    activate application terminal
    tell application "System Events" to keystroke "sharity mount smb://user@address/folder"
    tell application "System Events" to keystroke return
    delay 2
    tell application "System Events" to keystroke "password"
    delay 2
    tell application "Terminal"
    quit
    end tell
    This almost does what I want it to but the input language has flipped to Japanese and sharityもうんtsmb：//Sトラゲ-0165/けいthぱっすぉrd
    is the result
    Basically its all because of the samba bug in snow leopard (which I reported to apple and they confirmed its the same issue they know about)

    I used Photoshop CS 3 Extended and ahving trouble with foreign language fonts.   I have all the South Asian fonts installed which also shows up in my PS.  But when I use the font (example Baraha), the characters are all garbled.  I even tried copy/paste from Word, but that does not help.
    How can I use the Baraha and also display correctly in my image ?   Thanks for your help.

    hi Ben,
    I found two files called AdobeDreamweaverSettingsPrefs  (.xml and.tmp)
    I removed them , emptied trash and restarted dreamweaver but the font stacks are sill missing.

I realize you can change them one slide at a time by using Cmd-+or-, but I don't want to have to do every one separately since I'm just trying to record a narration. Likewise I still have no answer to how one sees presenter notes on the slide while recording a narration! Help!

Yes, I could easily change the individual slides, too, but there seems to be a rather large hole in the program, if you're promoting this for kiosk use or even just being able to send to possible interested parties without being present and therefore you want to narrate it. AARGH! Is there NO one at Apple who even occasionally looks at it's own forums! And it's not in the Knowledge database either.

    you cant alas! however you can  set your signature with a first letter with the font and colour of your choice
    It work well for me and really stop to anoye me to reset each email with the  font and colouur I want ! Hopefully Apple smart people can do something on this very basic issue!

  • OHD description change in other language limited to few characters

    I created a OHD , given description in Englis logon language
    But the description of my OHD is not displayed when i logged in NL ( Dutch language ). So i tried to maintain the same english texts in Dutch ( as per the requirement ).
    Next to the technical name there is a option to change the description ,
    When i use that, it cant hold the entire text content which is maintained in English. Few characters at the end are truncated and the system does not  allow to include extra characters  also.
    For example Open hub destination description in :
    English logon : Attributes of XXX Selection table
    Dutch  logon :  Attributes of ASP Selection ta
    In the above text the last 3 ble characters is not seen in the Dutch logon
    Is there any way to have entire texts in the OHD description as maintained in english language. Why there is a restriction when try to change the description ? Kindly write your suggestions

    I'm facing a problem in writing in languages other than English in Photoshop. I'm trying to write in an Indian language Tamil (which is upported by Google also). I have downloaded and installed the tamil fonts and wrote it using a unicode software. It seems to be fine when i type in applications such as word and all.. but when i write or paste those into photoshop, the letters seems to be wrongly placed. KIindly help me immediately

    I did some changes to the smartforms in language en and was trying to see the effect in other client in language de. But dont see any changes in other language.
    Changes that i did were, Changing the text in the forms, addition of new fields, set some conditions to text.
    Hope the problem is clear.

    After doing changes in the German Form in transaction SE63, the changes do not reflect in English language after activating the german form.Please help me with your valuable suggestion to solve this problem.
