Changing default project save type CS5.5 to CS5

Hi all
would anyone be able to help explain whether it is possible to change the default save as to a CS5, rather than going to file-save as.
thanks for any help!

The default is the latest version and you cannot change that, so to save to the earlier you need to use save as.

  • Changing Default Project Directory

Does anyone know how to change the default project directory?
I can move events; that's no problem.
But I can't seem to move the default project directory off my main MacBook Pro drive.
    Thanks.

I ran into this issue and found a work-around for it.
The problem is that OS X Finder Aliases work a little differently than UNIX links. A UNIX link will do what we need it to do because it is lower-level in the operating system (not a Finder trick), but if you cross physical disk boundaries you then need to then use a "symbolic link."
If you know how to make a sym-link, then you should be good to go -- if not, there are directions below.
To do this [you should have some UNIX command-line familiarity]:
In the Finder, copy your Projects or Movies folder to the drive/destination where you want it.
When the copy is complete, rename the original folder (I copied my whole Movies folder and renamed the old one "Movies2").
Open Terminal (~Applications/Utilities/Terminal) -- it should put you in your home directory.
You will now want to figure out what the UNIX path to your new projects or movies folder is. Get Info in the finder on your new folder, and note the "Where:" field -- as you will need to type this by hand.
You create a UNIX symbolic link by typing the link command, followed by the symbolic-link flag (-s) then the source directory (your new folder) and the target for the link (where you want it to point FROM), from your home folder.
I moved my Movies folder to a disk that I called "500GB" so I wanted the Movies folder to point TO the Movies folder on the disk called "500GB".
To create the symbolic link, with the Terminal program, and my current directory as my home folder, I typed:
    ln -s /Volumes/500GB/Movies ./
And that created a "Movies" symbolic link in my home folder that points to "/Volumes/500GB/Movies"
iMovie'08 now works with the relocated projects, etc.
Once you are done with this, launch iMovie and make sure that it is doing what you need it to do. If it is not, you still have the original Movies or Projects directory that you started with. If it is working, then you can backup and/or discard the safety backup you made when you renamed the original folder (i.e. "Movies2").

  • How to change default Export Format Type in Crystal Report Viewer

We are coding in VB.NET 2005 using the CR2008 SP1 .NET objects.
The Crystal Report Viewer, when displayed, defaults the export type as .rpt (Crystal Reports).
We distribute our .NET application to our customers.  99% of the time, this .rpt format is useless to our customers as they do not have crystal reports developer.  They usually export to a .pdf or .xls format.  Is there a way to default this export option to something other than .rpt?
    Thank you.

Yes, that's as much as I figured.
With the Crystal for .NET methods, the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine's reportdocument object has an ExportToDisk method.  We wanted to use this (as we used something similar with the RDC) to prompt the user to export.  However, the reportdocument's exporttodisk method does not have an argument that allows for Prompting the user (true/false) like the RDC's export did.  You have to actually know ahead of time the type of export the user wants as well as the filename.  Well, we do not, and therefore, want the user to be able to select the type of export they want as well as enter their own filename.  We want the Crystal methods to prompt for this.  Since we are unable to, we've had to resort to declaring a reportviewer object and setting the viewer's reportsource = to the reportdocument.  We then use the ExportReport() method which defaults to .rpt (which none of our end users have Crystal Developer).  This is why we want to know if there is a way to reset the default export method to something more common (such as .pdf or .xls).  Is there a way to change the reportdocument's file type in order to default the export type?  Just trying to come up with some sort of workaround...
    Thanks

  • Mysterious unsaved changes in project: Class type definition stored in member VI?

    Hi,
I'm wondering: why does LabVIEW show changes in a member VIs of a class when I only change the type definition (cluster) of the class in way that the member VI has nothing to do with the changes?
    Example:
    Class A{
      int a;
      int b; //new! -> changes in A.lvclass and A.ctl
      incr(){ this.a++;} //why incr.vi needs to be updated/saved upon adding b?
Strangely enough, when I don't save the changes and close the project, everything looks fine after re-opening the project (no broken VIs etc.), but the issue with the unsaved changes remains.
The thing is that I don't want to upload "fake" changes into our configuration management system as my colleagues would think that I really did changes to the VIs.
    Thanks!
    Peter

    Peter,
it seems to me that the issue is connected to association or containment. Did you incorporate that in your small example?
Does it happen if you previously mass compile the VIs before you add the dummy item to the class' private data?
Currently, it seems more like a bug if indeed all items have "separate compiled code" set (e.g. in the project).
Is it possible that some single items have that option disabled? Remember: Setting the option in the LV options or the project properties, it refers to NEW items. Existing items are not changed by that "global" settings.
    Norbert
EDIT: You can write a small tool to check this. Make the project path the input parameter, use VI Server to load that project and load all items and query the "separate compiled code" option. If an item has the option disabled, you might want to extend the tool to change the setting and save that item. Remember that the setting is available for more than 'only' VI-files!
CEO: What exactly is stopping us from doing this?
    Expert: Geometry
    Marketing Manager: Just ignore it.

  • Thunderbird - Change default email 'save as' extension

Saving an email as '.txt' allows the content to be checked without the risk of triggering a 'nasty'. The default 'Save as' uses '.eml' but it would be handy to allow the default to be changed to '.txt' as I've never yethad cause to save an email as '.eml'.

I don't know of any way to change the default to txt, but another possibility is to install [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/ ImportExportTools] and choose the text format from the message right-click menu.

  • Suddenly my PS CS5 defaulted its "Save As" to JPEG2000, how do I restore it back to "Save As" JPEG?

I got a new computer (Windows 7) at work this April and as of today, when I work on any of my JPEG images in PS CS5, suddenly it has defaulted its "Save As" to JPEG2000. How did this default change and how do I get it to default save as. JPEG again? There was nothing I noticed and no warning as to why this has changed, I didn't touch a thing!
(Last week, Adobe had to work with our IT manager to fix a problem that started occuring with my new Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 program. They had to log into my computer and change a registry thing to get it to work properly again...also something that changed without warning!!)

Thank you Curt Y, as I saw your post reply come through, I had just hung up with Adobe support (after being on the phone for an hour & a half).
To be clear...prior to today, if I opened a JPG file, and did an immediate "save/save as", it would automatically re-save as a JPG file but it seemed to suddenly be defaulting to a "save/save as" JPEG2000.
They claimed that yes, there was a fix for this and while I was on hold she had me follow a few directions which DID fix the issue. While we were on the phone she was able to have me restore it to at least a default "save/save as" for a PSD file rather than a JPEG2000, which is better than nothing and she was about to help me get the default set so that when I open a JPG it would automatically default to "save/save as" a JPG, but she couldn't get it that to work. After she logged on to my computer to physically do it herself and failed to fix it further, she thinks my security permissions (we are on a network) are not set properly and she wanted to create a new user account with the proper permissions but we were halted because our IT guy is not in right now.
She gave me a case# and when he returns tomorrow, we are to try her list of instructions starting with creating a new (PS CS5 user account) then if that does not restore the "save as" defaults we are to uninstall, then re-install PS. If this still does not work we are to call her back and they will try to fix it from there. She did tell me that in my version of PS (CS5), she was able to open a JPG (on her end), then hit save as, and it defaults to saving as a JPG, not a PSD as is happening to me.
Before I posted here, I did do an iternet search to find out how to set the defaults, however I too found that everyone says there is no such default of a "save as" JPG...but Adobe claims otherwise. We shall see what happens tomorrow...

Latest Lithroom 5.6 does not recognize my .cr2 raw file format and Windows 7 it asociates with my older raw plug in in Ps CS5.5. I am not able to change default program for .cr2 in the properties pannel...
every new released update of Lr from v 5.2 changed somethin in my Windows 7 Professional settings. I am stucked. Can somebody help me please? Many thanks. Andrej

    Hi Jim,
yes after I imported my .cr2 raw files into new catalog it started to work. Windows 7 still does not recognize them but I can edit them as you said within the Lr5.6 and then export them into .psd or .dng files...as needed.
I bought Lr5 only because I got present - my new camera Cannon 70D and because my older Photoshop CS5.5 raw plugin does not recognize. cr2 files.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • Change default save file type to gif

I've seen people submit some solutions but it requires changing codes of the files.... is there a simpler way to do it? I don't understand why it's saving as a jpg file... the older versions used gif as the default for save as web...

That is odd. What version of Ps are you using? Both CS6 and CC 2014 hold the last used format (GIF) for me.. First, try holding Alt (Win) or Opt (Mac) with Save For Web open - the "cancel" will become a "reset" button. Now try again. Also, when you press Alt/Opt you should see the "done" will become a "remember."

  • How do I change the default file saving type

I have seen this question all over the web, but none of the answers I have found apply to my version of Photoshop (CS5).
I want to change the default file type when I save files.  I don't want PSD or PDF, I want PNG.
I want to hit CTRL + SHIFT + S like normal, but I don't want to select PNG from the drop-down menu when I go to name my items.
I don't want to create an action for each file I work with - I want this to be a default setting change across all of photoshop on every file.
Any help?  Adobe has been of zero assistance.

I have already tried the "Actions" method - which is glitchy in and of itself!
What I am doing is very simple - I am making photo slide shows.  I create a new file that is 1920 x 1280 (the size of my display) and then I open 100+ images.  I copy and paste each image into the 1920x1280 file so that all images display the same on my screen when I run the slides.  I re-size and adjust the position of each image so it appears how I want.
So I copy and paste my first image into the 1920x1280 canvas and then hit F2 (the button I applied the save as PNG action to).  It saves the file.  Then I copy and paste another image into the file and hit F2.  Rather than creating a new file (or even a copy) Photoshop writes over the last file I made.  YAY!  More wasted time!
It blows my mind that a function as simple as "Change default file type" is missing from such an expensive, accredited program.  How can their software engineers overlook something that hundreds of other people (like me) have posted a need for online?  Something so simple?  Andy why is it my job now to learn how to do scripting for Photoshop to add in a feature that should be standard?  Is that why I pay $50 a month for this software or why I bought CS5 outright for more than $1000?
So that's what I am trying to do - make a slide show where each image is exactly the same size.  It seems the only option Adobe gives me is "WASTE MORE OF YOUR TIME"

  • How to change the default IDOC basic type from CREMAS05 to CREMAS04.

    Hi All,
How to change the default IDOC basic type from CREMAS05 to CREMAS04 when sending Vendor Master Data.
When I generate partner profile, the system will add the latest version of IDOC type which is CREMAS05 to the Outbound message. In my project, I'm asked to use CREMAS04.
I want to use BD14 to send master data directly, but the program will generate IDOC using CREMAS05. Is there a way that I can change it to CREMAS04? And also for using Change Pointers, I want to use the report RBDMIDOC, but i have the same problem.

  • Can you switch back between CS5 and CS5.5 with the same project with Premiere??

    Hey all,
I just got CS5.5 for Mac (Lion) and was wondering if i am able to save a project and open it with CS5 Premiere because I work with one other editor who has CS5. I have tested saving a project in CS5.5 and opening it in CS5 but it says that it needs to convert first but then it seems to work fine. So basically, is there workflow good between the 2? Any known issues or anything else i should know about when switching back and forth?
Also, I have the student edition of CS5.5 and was wondering how many times can I install it? I plan on buying a new computer in a few months from now but currently have 2 and was wondering if i should install it on both my current computers and then deactivate one and install it on my new computer in the future? Or is there a limit and that will not work?
    Thanks!!

Because it has to create a new "version" of your project every time you go back and forth, you'll end up with umpteen versions if you go back and forth every time which could become a nightmare for you... And because it creates new "versions" every time, you're far more likely to end up with a corrupted file at some point... I'd stay away of going back and forth between versions...
As an aside, does anyone know if you can go back and forth between the same version (CS5.5) on different platforms (Mac/PC)? I may need to start doing that soon at work, and I've never tried...

  • Can anyone tell me if you can back save from CS6 to CS5 Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop OK?

Can anyone tell me if you can back save from CS6 to CS5 Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop OK? Want to upgrade to CS6 but must I must still remain compatible with work. They are using CS5.

To clarify your answer for Illustrator.  The option is not in the "Save As" dialog box.
    The correct answer is
    Open you CS6 Illustrator file.
    File>Save As
The Save As dialog box opens
Type your file name (DIFFERENT THAN ORIGINAL PLEASE!) and the Save as Type is still going to be Adobe Illustrator (*.AI)   **This is where the above instructions threw me, as the Save as type drop down does not list anything about versions to save fo)
    Click Save
Once you click Save, the Illustrator Options dialog box will come up.  The first option is titled Version and has a drop down menu.  Select the version of illustrator you want to save your file as here, then click ok.
    Your done.
I strongly suggest you give this file a different name than your original CS6 Illustrator version as you may lose some parts of your design in the conversion.
    Hope this helps.  Enjoy!
