Changing default still image time from 150 frames to timecode option?

I want to change the default duration for still images under Preferences in CS6. It is showing up as 150 frames by default. Is there a way to change this so I can just enter it as timecode 00;00;03;00 instead?
Thanks.

Most of the time, 30 frames per second is a safe way to calculate things on a 29.97 sequence. If you really have a problem with that, and many animators do, since you are using still images, use a custom setting for your sequence. Create one using 30 frames per second and use non-drop frame timecode. Use square pixels and No Fields (Progressive).
Now, if you are turning this over to someone for use in a commercial, for example, where the exact number of frames is required so that 30 seconds is not exceeded, then that is a different story.
Your second question - sorry - but you really want to determine the duration prior to importing the image. Once you have the image in the project, the duration is already set and must be changed for each and every one individually. As far as I know, you can't set one and then copy the duration to the others.

  • Changing Displayed Still Images for Podcasts

I just got iWeb up and running today. Everything is working great, except I can't figure out how to change the default thumbnail images that are assigned when I add new video files to my Podcast page.
Several of my video files start with a black frame and fade in, which is causing iWeb to display a black image for the Podcast on the Entries page. Is there an easy way to change this image without re-editing my videos?
I've searched the help menus and the discussion posts here. I was hoping that changing the associated artwork in GarageBand would fix this. I figured out how to add an image and resize it, but when I brought my video file in, the image I had edited added just disappeared and was replaced by a marker symbol.
I know the quick fix in DVD Studio Pro: open the inspector for the button, uncheck "motion", and set the little timeline to the frame you wish to use. Please help!
My other idea is to try to configure a links page for the videos myself, so that I can control the image used and just add a hyperlink. Suggestions?

I had the same problem and looked all over as well. I
ended up reopening my video clips in Final Cut..
adding one frame at the start of my still frame and
then rerendered it out to iweb. it works.. shows up
in the itunes store as well.
I can try that, but that ruins the fade in from black effect. I'm hoping there is an easier way. If not, maybe future versions...

  • Set duration of imported still images down to 1 frame

Is there a way to import images into FCPX (10.1.1) and set it so the images will be only 1 frame when put on the timeline?  Or to change their duration in the Event viewer after they are imported?  I found the "duration" setting in the editing preferences, but that's in seconds and doesn't do what I want.  For what I'm doing now I want them at 1 frame, but really I'm looking for total control of the length of bulk still images without having to cut each individual one down on the timeline.

Put them in the timeline. Select them all. Press Control-D. Enter 1 and press return.

  • Confirmation....still image dimensions from 16:9 720x480

    Hi
I just exported a frame from a 720x480 16:9 DV NTSC video clip.  I tried doing it from Premiere and it would only give me a bmp choice.  I then did it from Streamclip, which gave me TIF, JPG and BMP choices but it did not really matter, because TIF is only 8 bit, just like the BMP in premiere...
The dimensions of the still image ( frame ) are (according to ps) 853 x 480 .
Is that correct for all frames exported from 720x480 16:9 DV NTSC videos ?
Reason I ask, is I want to create images that match ( size wise ) so I can make a slide show on a DVD eventually...
    Thanks...
    Rod
ps  funny, I thought the 720 dimension would be favored and the height would be "squeezed" to something smaller than 480...for the 16:9 ratio.

    Hi
Ah Ha !  Geez...I KNOW that the pixels are not square in NTSC, and ARE square in bitmaps, but I didn't even THINK about that last night when I was dealing with this...How can I be so dumb sometimes ??  Geez....
    Thanks Harm.
If you could elaborate a little....I'm not very swift with math and ratios.
I just got out the calculator....and looked at GSpot...with a 720x480 widescreen AVI opened...
It is saying, par 1.185 (32:27)...for this particular AVI file that I made exported from Premiere last night...
Now, if I multiply 720 x 1.185 I get 853 !!!   How cool is THAT....so I guess that's how I come up with the dimension of a bitmap when I do this in future...
    And when I multiply 720 x .2121 (rather than 1.2121) I get 152.7...close enough !....same as 853...
How come there's two different ways of doing that ??
But my numbers are weird for 1.1212.....  what am I doing wrong ??
Should there be one way to go about doing this math stuff ???
Anyhow, you've already answered my question and thanks a lot....   square pixels !  ..didn't even think of that...

  • Direct Still Image capture from video

How would I capture a still image with a firewire connection from a camcorder capturing all the pixels from that image. I was hoping to use Image Capture or Quicktime but I have not found a solution.
The solution needs to be apple scriptable.
    Thanks,
    Drew

You could use iMovie to "copy" a frame. A DV camera would be 720X480 image.
QuickTime Pro could also be used as it supports Firewire connected cameras and has a "Record" feature.
Simply pause or stop capture and scrub through (right left arrow keys) to find your frame. Copy, open new Player window and paste. Export to Picture and choose your format.
QuickTime has an AppleScript library. iMovie does not.

  • ? How do you change default for .pdf files from Reader 6 to reader 9

I cannot change the default for .pdf files from reader 6 to reader 9. Also I cannot remove reader 6. I am running Vista

Normally, completely removing old versions and reinstalling the latest version will reassociate all applicable extensions for the program, but it appears to have failed in your case.  There may be something else going on with your machine that is producing this behavior.  You probably need to investigate that.  But what you can do to make sure the defaults are correct is click on the start orb and select 'Default Programs.'  Then select 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program.'  From the list of file types, select each of the following in turn: acrobatsecuritysettings, fdf, pdf, pdfxml, pdx, xdp, and xfdf.  If its default program is not Adobe Reader, click on the Change Program button and select Acrobat Reader from the list (you may need to expand the lower section to display more programs than it initially provides).  If Adobe Reader does not show up in the list, you will have to browse for it.  It should be located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10\Reader\AcroRd32.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10\Reader\AcroRd32.exe.
This method is safer than manually editing the Root\Classes in the registry.

  • Putting a still image in a menu frame

    Hello,
I am making a DVD menu using a standard template. There is a frame in the template to take a still image. When I put an image in this frame only part of the original still is shown. I have tried resizing the image but to no effect.
Can anyone advise how I can get the whole image, or at least the part I want shown, in the frame?
    Thank you
    Jim

Are you saying that you're replacing an entire background for a template or that this is a template with a drop zone (Place Video Here placeholder)?
Most drop zone templates have an area you should be able to resize your photo to fit. Other templates may have foreground graphics that can get in the way and partially obscure the background.
    Which are you seeing?

  • Change Default Screen Capture Format from PNG to JPG

I'm running Mac OS 10.4.8 on a G5 Duo Core (Power PC). Up until about 10.4.1, my screen captures (Apple-Shift-4) would result in a PDF file. Then they started coming out as PNG files. I would strongly prefer that they default to jpg files, since I typically change the PNG files to JPG.
Can anyone tell me how to change the default for screen captures from PNG format to jpg format?
I have tried to use the process described at http://textsnippets.com/posts/show/131 but this does not change the default format for screen captures. I've also discussed this issue with Apple online help, but they were not able to change the default format either.
    Any suggestions?

Download and use Screenshots Preference Pane:
    http://www.ego-systems.com/Products/screenshotsprefpane.html
It's free and easy, gives you about a dozen options on how to save the shot and allows you to change where it's saved to.
    I also use Capture Me:
    http://www.chimoosoft.com/captureme.html
Best screen capture utility I've tried, you can save each screen shot in any format you want or have it go. It also works as a great picture sticky because the windows floats above other windows. It's also free,

  • Change default folder image

Is there any way to change the default for image for new folders? I want to be able to change all of my folders to black without having to change every individual image.

As camickr said, it can be found in the Java Tutorial.
         DefaultTreeCellRenderer rend =  new DefaultTreeCellRenderer();
         rend.setLeafIcon(new ImageIcon("leaf.gif"));
         rend.setOpenIcon(new ImageIcon("open.gif"));
         rend.setClosedIcon(new ImageIcon("closed.gif"));
         myJTree.setCellRenderer(rend);

  • Still image disappears from menu background on burning to DVD

I’ve just completed a project in Adobe Premiere Elements 9 in which I’ve personalized the menu background with a still image (trying two different disc menu templates - sport swimming and one under memories - can't remember the name of that one). With both these templates the still image shows up perfectly on my computer screen while I'm in the project but when I burn the project to DVD the still image doesn't appear on playback of the DVD.  I have done other projects in PE9 with no problems with still images in existing disc menu templates - travel ship template and the template that comes as standard with PE9 before adding additional templates). I would prefer not to use either of these templates for my current project.
I see previous treads have commented on changing the size of the image...this doesn't seem to make a difference for me and the other suggestion is to somehow change the name of the file for the templates to get around this problem but i'm not understanding this.  I still don't understand why some templates work and others don't. Does anyone have a simple to understand solution to this?
Or does anyone have a list of the disc menu templates that work with personalizing?
    thanks heaps.

There does seem to be a bug that affects some menu templates.
Try the Generic template under the General tab.
There are also a number of menu templates available at Premiere Elements support site http://Muvipix.com that will work with no problem and can be easily customized.

  • Quality of still images imported from i-Photo

I've recently got a new Mac, with updated version of i-Movie. Struggling to come to terms with it, but one major problem is quality of still images.
Whatever I do, they look rubbish in i-Movie. I've tried all sorts of settings, Ken Burns etc, still nowhere near the crystal images on the previous version of i-Movie.
I've read that we're not supposed to look at quality in i-Movie, but only on burning, but this is a nuisance, and anyhow when I made a Quicktime movie it was no better.
Can anyone help? And why, when something is supposed to be better, is it actually worse?
    Thanks.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Adam
You might try more closely matching the screen resolution of iMovie, which unless you are going widescreen is 720x540... There is not much sense in putting in more dpi than the video format can handle. You can get some distortion when it compresses the images.
I do find that they never look as good in iMovie on my TV as they did on the computer however. Ken Burns or whatever we try.
Also, iMovie will stretch smaller than 720x540 images to fit the dimension of the screen, which makes those look truly awful. We usually put those on a black background (in Photoshop) so that they stay at the smaller size.

  • Change image duration from 1 frame to 2 seconds

I have imported some images from an iMovie project to the timeline of FCP. They imported at 1 frame duration. I have tried every suggestion from other threads as to changing the duration of the images, to no avail. They seem to be locked. Nothing works. What am I missing? I need to change them to 2 seconds. I tried control/click and changing the duration to 2 seconds - no go. I have reset the preferences to 2 seconds, and imported another image as a test - still imports at 1 frame only. I have changed the duration in the Browser - doesn't change anything. I have tried the Viewer and can't make it budge. Help!
I imported directly from iMovie to the timeline so I could keep the images in order. If I import from the browser, it imports at the preference setting, but that means I would need to wade through the browser to put them in order again (very time consuming to do it with 300 images)
    gary

Would making a freeze frame of the image work? Could be pretty fast. Load in viewer, shift-n. drag to browser. Do you want to email me one of the images and I'll see if there's anything obvious? My email address is in my profile.
Also, what format did you export them from in IMovie. You might be able to use a graphic utility or photoshop to do a batch conversion

  • Change default events stop time

    Hi there,
Is there any way to change the default start and stop time for new events?
When I make a new event, always stop one hour after start time
I want to make 20 min events
    Any hack?
    thanks and excuse my english.

Hi, It's interesting that you say recordings from Freeview should be as you say. Does this mean that my Vision box's time is out? Where does it take it's time sync from I wonder. As the box is connected to The Internet, it could sync from a time server the same as a PC does. I'm not having problems with programmes overrunning and that clashing with a scheduled start recording time, I can see that would cause a problem. It's the fact that recordings are starting 2 minutes early. I have watched this happen a number of times because when you are watching, you have a message on screen asking you what to do, stop recording the current programme, or not record the one that is starting. If you happen to be looking at the Vision box when that happens, usually by stopping the current recording, you can get away with that, as most programmes are over well before the actual end time. Then the new recording will start. But if you're not looking at the Vision box, it makes it's own decision, which is usually not to record the starting programme. Although I don't record any of the Multicast channels, if I did, the the fact that they start 2 minutes early would cause a problem. Why do they start early? It just causes unnecessary annoyance. Thanks for replying though.

  • Image creation from Swing Frame

    Hello friends,
I have created a Swing application which depicts a Invoice form in any normal business. The issue is that when I click save button, the screen details captured in components such as textfields, combos etc..should get saved in DB (which is done) & the Invoice screen should be saved as an image (.tiff format --- multipage)which when viewed later shows the data captured for that particular invoice at the time the invoice was saved.
In simple words, I want to save the Swing form as an image if (tiff) format is difficult then (gif) format is also ok.
Can anyone plz help me in this matter. How do I capture the Swing Frame details?
    Its very URGENT.
    regards
    Jeeves

Why do you need a GIF image for that?
A simple Image or Bufferedimage should do.
