Changing default 'View Options'

Is there any way to change the options selected by default when a CD is read in or when a playlist is clicked. I find that I virtually always have to go to the 'View Options' command to enable the 'Composer' field. How can I make this field be displayed automatically?
Eric

droydi,
I had the same problem on 10.6.1.
The solutions seem to leave out a few caveats.
I got it working for me on Windows by...
Under Library, Click your "Music" library.
Under the "View" menu, make sure that "as List" is ticked! (This was the stumble for me as mine was "as album list" and none of the solutions worked)
Under "View" again, click "View Options", in the window that pops up select your columns.
Rearrange your columns. (I didnt do this step)
From now on a new playlist will get the colums (and ordering?) you set up for the Library-Music "as List" view.
You can change the Library - Music view to "as Album List" or anything else if you want and a new playlist will still use the "as List" settings
Hope it helps

  • How can I batch change the view options of multiple playlists?

I would like to select multiple playlists and batch change their view options; seems like an obvious feature that should be there, but it does not seem to be there. I know of Assimilate View Options v2.2 in Doug's AppleScripts, but this is not what I want, since AWO requires you to do the change playlist by playlist, i.e., not in batch mode (and I have hundreds of playlists ...). Any idea? Please answer privately at [email protected] since I do not read this forum regularly. Thanks in advance for your help!

did you also check out the following script ?
    [_*Change Hidden iTunes Preferences v2.4*_|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=changehiddenprefs]
This application will allow you to invoke hidden iTunes preferences:
    Show "Library" playlist
    *Changing view setting is global*
    Allow half-stars in ratings
    Hide "Ping" buttons
Show/hide arrow links -- to either search the iTunes Store or search your library
Load complete iTunes Store preview before playing
Create playlists for purchased song collections
Play songs while importing or converting
Create file names with track number
Maintain grid view for Search results

  • Change default view across multiple page libraries using the same content type/types?

I am the editor for a large SharePoint publishing site with approximately 130+ subsites. Based on our content, I've create two diffferent default views that will come in handy as we move to a distributed authorship model. (I'm thinking specifically about
the Quick Edit/Excel-like feature to make quick changes to page/document metadata.)
The authors/content owner/editors have NO experience with SharePoint, so while the benefit of using views is that they can be tailored to individual needs, I'd like to start them off with something that is VERY easy to change on the fly. It's either that
or, as just a power user in the CMS, go to each individual page and document library and change it manually, which could take days, if not longer. Thanks!

    Essentially, yes.
That said, I am using SharePoint 2013, and I just now realized that I posted this in the legacy SP forum. You'll have to excuse me -- this is my first time posting:)
Basically, I have two different "ideal" views based on two different site templates. These two site templates account for over 100 publishing subsites. The view has 18 different metadata that will make editing/making changes to article pages much
easier for content owners because they will be able to go into the page libary>ribbon>library>quick edit and edit the metadata as if it were an Excel spreadsheet. This comes in especially handy for things like rollup order between primary, secondary,
tertiary pages within a subsite.  Ideally, it would be nice to be able to add that view as an option within the CMS (similar to the way you can add a view style).
I hope that makes sense. Also, I'll repost the question to SharePoint 2013. Much appreciated!

  • Changing default view to match Inventor default view

    Hi All,
Upon creating my Parasolid Binary File from Inventor 2012 for use to build the 3D PDF, I do so from a specific view angle.  After Acrobat and 3D PDF Converter do their conversion, it would appear that my specific view angle is completely ignored and a very unflattering view angle is substituted.  It is highly desired by our customers that the default view (the one used to "Click to activate") in the final PDF has a more appropriate view angle.  Does anybody know how to maintain or reassign my initial preferred view angle?
    Thanks

Hopefully this is what you are looking for...
After creating the new view, which it sounds like you did, click on the "Options" button in the Model Tree's "Views" pane (the middle pane) and select "Set as default view".  Then right-click (control + click on the Mac) and select "Properties..." from the context menu.  In the "Launch Settings" tab, down in the "Poster Image" area, click the 2nd radio button, "Retrieve poster from default view".

  • How to change default view in web plugin?

Anyone know how to set a default view in the Reader plugin in Firefox and/or IE?  I'm getting sick of having to manually show the task bar and then un-toggle touch mode to get my scroll bar back every time I open a PDF. Thanks!

Thanks! I turned off Touch mode there (Edit\Preferences\General --> set
    Touch Mode to "Never")
Then I poked around more and fixed the default view in
Edit\Preferences\Internet --> unchecked "Display in read mode by default"

  • Changes in viewing options in iTunes 8

    Hi all,
I have had a disappointment with iTunes 8 in terms of the viewing options. I used to view and sort through my library in the list view mode where I would have 3 columns to choose from genre, artist, and album. This was a very convenient and rapid way to sort through and find music I was looking for. This option appears to be gone from iTunes 8. Is it? Why? I am not a fan of sorting through a long list. The grid viewing option does not please me so much either. I see no reason to bog down my system with all the cover art...
So does anyone know if it is possible to restore the list view with the 3 sorting columns I had in previous iTunes versions?

    Within iTunes:
    View->Show Browser. Or just CTRL-B

  • How to change default view for folders?

Whenever I create a new folder, the view always defaults to icons with the Sidebar visible. I want all newly created folders to open in list view, and I don't want to see the Sidebar. Can anyone tell me how to change the defaults? Thanks...

I'm not sure how to make it default, but I think you may be able to get rid of the sidebar for a whole session (you probably have to get rid of it again once you've restarted).
Just disable the sidebar by clicking in the little white ellipse/oval thingie in the top right corner of a new finder window. Then when you open new windows, or open folders in that one, they should all come up without sidebars, and in the same format. I hope that works for you, but honestly I don't know why you wouldn't want the handy sidebar

  • Change default looping option for gif

    Hi,
Whenever I open a new documents and use "save for web and devices", the looping option for animations always appears as "once" by default. Is there a way to change this default option? (I already tried to include such a change by writing an action for saving with the preferences I like, but it did not work, it saves with whatever number of loops was last used for that document).
Thanks in advance for your help.

Could be...  I run Windows 7 x64.  At the moment "Forever" is showing by default whenever I do SFW&D.
I wonder if the import process maybe sets that to "Once" for you...  What I tested on were some animated GIFs I had made entirely in Photoshop.
Note also that I have Photoshop CS5 Standard, not Extended.  I don't do much with video save for the occasional simple animated GIF for the web.

  • How to change default keyword options?

I'm trying out Lightroom 2 on an Intel Mac and have bumped into a keyword problem. When I use a keyword for the first time or import photos with keywords that are not already in my keyword list, Lightroom defaults to "Export containing keywords" as true. Is there a way to set this to be unchecked by default? I only want explicitly defined keywords to be exported with my images. Right now I either have to go in and change it for each new keyword or perform an update on the SQLite database directly. Both are cumbersome.
    Thanks for any pointers.

I put in a feature request for global Keyword Tag Options setting for similar reasons to yours. At the moment most people are concerned because the LR2 catalog didn't pick up the settings from their 1.4.1 catalogs. Here is a link:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?7@@.59b5f7c6/30
that contains a work around for global editing of keyword tag options.

  • How can I set a default view option for all finder windows in Lion?

I am talking about the icon size and grid spacing.

Open up a Finder window, CMD+J, set it up as desired, and click on Use as Defaults. Do note that will only apply to windows that you've not opened before. If you want to apply that to all previously opened windows, you need to remove all the .DS_Store files which store that data for each previously opened folder. To do that, launch the Terminal app (in /Applications/Utilities/), copy & paste this command into the window that pops up, and hit the return key:
    sudo find / -name ".DS_Store"  -exec rm {} \;
At the Password: prompt, carefully enter your admin password, since nothing shows up on the screen, and hit the return key. When the default prompt, usually the $ sign, pops up, quit the Terminal app, restart, and open a Finder window, set it up the way you want, and click on Use as Defaults. All subsequently opened or created folders should retain that view.

  • Default view options

Just updated to the new version which I do not like. Two questions
    1) How do I get the old standard view? This had album arwork, artist and album name on the lest and tracks and track numbers etc on the right?
    2) How can I go back to the last version, which was much better?
    Thanks

    1) The old Album List view has gone. You can get closer to the old look with ctrl-b to turn on the menu bar and ctrl-s to turn on the sidebar, then select Artists from the selection of views across the top.
    2) To roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer from here, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Can I change default crop options when importing PDFs?

When importing PDFs into Photoshop CS3, the default cropping is Bounding Box. I change the popup to Media Box, but it reverts when I quit Photoshop. Is there a way to make Media Box the default?

I tried it and a Scripted opening of a pdf doesn’t seem to have any bearing on the dialog’s settings.
If You open with the same settings usually it might be possible to create a Script that opens pdfs with those settings right away – one would have to trade the comparative convenience of dragging the pdf on the psd-symbol and hitting OK for an open-dialog though, I guess.

  • EP7, UWL, change Personalize View options

Universal Worklist IView -> Personalize View
We would like to remove all options from the Personalize View (e.g. attributes and their work order, sorting properties etc) except for "Items to be displayed per page" under the Data Properties heading. Does anyone know how to do this. For anyone answering, please note that I am not a portal administrator
    Many thanks
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
there is no possibillity to configure the UWL personalization iView itself (pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/uwl/com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.ui.uwlPersonalization).
You only can remove the "personalize" menu item completely.
So if you want to implement your requirement you need to modify the UWL personalization iView or develop your own.

    Sascha
