Changing defaults on the adjustment palette

Unfortunately I took a series of photos with a soft focus lens and I'm having to go in and sharpen each one. However I'm getting tired of having to select sharpen from the adjustment palette menu each time. Is there a way to default this to on?

  • Adjust Palette slider.  Sometimes zeroed out, sometimes not

    I can't understand what is going on.
    I will edit my photos using the adjust palette and when I move on to the next photo, sometimes it says "saving changes" and sometimes not. On the photos where it does "save" the changes, when I go back to the photo, the adjustments are there, but the sliders have been zeroed out. This makes it impossible to "copy" the sliders and paste to another photo. Nor can I see what adjustments have been made.
    While on some photos, it's doesn't "save changes" when I move away from it. When I return to the photo, the adjustments are there, AND the sliders are where I moved them to. This is what I WANT to happen on every photo so I can see what I've done. But on some photos it "saves" them and I can't see my adjustments in the sliders.
    This seems completely random and changes from photo to photo within the same album. Both versions look right and have my adjustments correct, it's just that one will show me the adjustments in the adjust palette, and the other will have sliders zeroed out as if that's how the photo came right out of the camera.
    What gives?

    I don't see anything that jumps out as to why but do see a couple of things you can try.
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
    2 - empty the User/Library/Caches/iPhoto folder
    3 - rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
    If none of the above help, boot into another account (if you don't have one create a non-admin account as it's a very good troubleshooting tool), create a test library, import a few photos and give it a good editing workout. If the edits are saving as they should then there could be an issue with a preference file, other than iPhoto's, in your primary account. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
    Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
    If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
    Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
    If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
    On a different note I see you have just 8 GB of free space. If you can increase that to around 15GB I'm sure you'll see an improvement in system and application performance. Also If you upgrade to 10.4.11 be sure to use the 10.4.11 COMBO updater.

    Change value for attribute 'PRI' in organizational plan.
    Check, with view HRV1222A for this attribute, where your old printer value is populated in order to switch to the new one.

    I'm building a tutorial website for how to buy kitchens from my cabinetshop.
    I use a lot of arrow type lines from the Shapes Palette.
    After I create the arrow-line I have to re-color it to red with the Graphics Inspector.
    Is there a way to set red as the default color for this object?

  • The Swatches palette default color names

    Hi,
    I'm using Illustrator CS3 and I have a problem with the default colors in the Swatches palette.
    Basically, every time I brush my cursor over the colors, I get names like C=85 M=10 Y=100 K=10 instead of sunshine, or C=75 M=0 Y=75 K=0 instead of peridot, proper color names that I should see.
    Please help me out to display the right name settings since it will be easier for me to do my work. My Illustrator level is basic as I only took an introductory course, but will get better as I intend to put many hours of practice.

    I am using CS3 and I'm pretty sure the colors in the standard palettes have only been called C=stuff M=stuff Y=stuff K=stuff all along. I don't think they have other names. Adobe decided against sunshine... ;). You could start a new document, change the color swatch names and save that altered file as a template, then use that from now on.
    If you were an advanced user, you could also locate the cmyk and rgb default files and change those.
    To change a swatch name, double click the swatch and change the name in the dialog that comes up, then close the dialog and voila!

    I do not want to download another virus program.. I do not believe it is a virus. I am running the full version of Norton 360 and it is doing a daily scan. I have Windows 7, 64 bit OS.
    This is very irritating !! If I wanted Yahoo I would ask for it !

    Perfernece for contact to change.  Do I just have to dis-associate my contact fromt the facebook account?  Is only the autofill changable?

    If you allow Facebook to access your contacts and you have the @facebook.com email alias turned on, it will add the @facebook.com email to your contact info, and because it has the fixed label of "email" it overrides every other email address.
    They didn't fix this in iOS 8.
    There are two ways to remove the @facebook.com email from your contact info:
    If you don't need your Facebook friends and their info updating your contacts, go into iOS Settings -> Facebook and turn off access to Contacts.
    If you don't use your @facebook.com email address (all it does it forward to the primary email address) you can go into the Facebook app, More -> Settings -> General -> Email -> and uncheck "Use your Facebook email". Removing it from Account Emails does not work, you have to turn it off. Once you do this, go to iOS Settings -> Facebook and turn Contacts off and on again to make it update your info. The @facebook.com address should be removed.

  • FF keeps defaulting to the wrong HTTP proxy server and port. I have to change it every time I attempt to open Firefox? How do I change it for good?

    The manual proxy settings keep defaulting to the wrong HTTP and port. This has caused me many hours of anguish. It works fine when I correct the settings but after you log off and then come back it has to be changed again. Is there anyway to fix it? Or can I go back to the previous version because 4 definitely has some issues (other than this one). I could live with it if I had to but I'm not the only one who uses this computer and they don't know how to make the changes. Thanks and I would definitely appreciate an answer.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

    Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

    Hi Jim,
    yes after I imported my .cr2 raw files into new catalog it started to work. Windows 7 still does not recognize them but I can edit them as you said within the Lr5.6 and then export them into .psd or .dng files...as needed.
    I bought Lr5 only because I got present - my new camera Cannon 70D and because my older Photoshop CS5.5 raw plugin does not recognize. cr2 files.

  • Weird: changing file or link associated defaults then changes ALL defaults to the same program

    Y'know... I thought I'd possibly 'seen it all' but today someone brought me a laptop with something I don't believe I've ever seen...
    every link and file association is defaulted to the wrong program, and it is not possible to restore the association to the proper program for the respective file types.  And changing one
    association changes ALL other associations for every other link to a file or shortcut.
    For instance: 'right-clicking' on what I KNOW to be an Adobe Acrobat file and selecting 'open with...' from the context menu, Adobe Acrobat is not shown (even after un-installing and re-installing Acrobat).  So I 'browse' to the Program files (x86)
    folder and select Adobe Acrobat (AcroRd32.exe) from within the Adobe Acrobat program folder to 're-associate' .pdf files with Acrobat..  BUT - this then changes ALL associations for everything  (including shortcuts on the desktop) to Adobe Acrobat.
      And the same can be said if I attempt to change the file association for a "docx" file extension (MS Word document).  Change the 'association' for one single 'docx' file and this results in ALL files or shortcuts on the desktop to also
    change to MS Word.
    So - what the ...?  Anyone have a clue as to what he's done on this "brand new" installation of Windows Home Premium (64-bit)?  I only just (this past week) talked him into 'abandoning' XP in favor of a license of Windows 7 Home Premium,
    and afterwards everything was 100% and fully operational - but now one week later and he's done this...
    So...  A registry issue..? Something to do with 'file association' defaults? (and my suspicion is some sort of 'dll' problem with this performance and the issue of not being able to configure 'program defaults' for any given file type without also affecting
    all other associations...).
    So,short of backing up all his data (out of precaution) and trying to do a 're-installation' of Windows, my most immediate response with this would be to just 'blow it away' and re-install Windows again ... and then copy all of his data back to the corresponding
    locations.  But I would like to know what he's possibly done (for future reference) and maybe learn of some possibility that this can be 'fixed' and the correct 'associations' re-established without having to re-install Windows one more time...
