Changing destination drive for burning music to USB (drive F) instead of cd (drive E)

My computer shows that I have both a Drive E for CDs and a Drive F for the USB but I cannot figure out how to change the destination when I try to burn to the USB instead of the CD.  Does anyone have an answer?
Thanks, ClintsMomma

Hi,
Which software are you using to BURN ? Many software when we say burn they will find a valid optical drive to burn to an optical disc. If you wish to use USB, no need to burn, just copy like normal copy files from one drive to other drive.

.. hold on for a second: what do you mean by 'burn movie to'?
iMovie needs read/write-able disks to work with.. e.g. you can not 'open' an iM project directly from some CD/DVD..
and 'burning a movie' in our lingo usually means NOT a bakup of an iM project, but creating a videoDVD .. with iDVD. which supports since vers5 ext. drives, but not o my knowledge two dvd-burners simultanously..
so, where do you wanna go™ ?
a backup of project to some disk?
or a videoDVD or playback onto any DVDplayer...?

  • How do I burn music onto USB on a MAC?

I have a Macbook Pro and I just bought an f150. I'd like to transfer music from iTunes to a USB. I tried opening itunes and the USB folder and dragging to copy but that didn't work. Other suggestions? Thank you

USB is a connection type and doesn't make sense on its own in the context you use it -- you can have a USB [mouse].  Do you mean a flash drive?  If you do, highlight the drive, get info, and check the formatting.  Most come formatted FAT32 which should be compatible with your Mac for what you want to do.  If it says NTFS then you will need to reformat to FAT32 using DIsk Utility.  Macs cannot write to NTFS which is a Windows format.

  • How do i change destination drive when intalling fp?

When installing FP 2.0, default destination path is C:temp...  I changed the environment variable to E:temp,  where theres space to run,  however, running the FP is still showing the destination as c:temp...
    Help?

    Thanks for the reply...
I did set both,  temp and tmp to the bigger drive.
    This is weird...
    I have FP 1.5 and SP 2.0
FP15 actually starts to extract to the bigger drive, however, SP20 still points to small C drive.  Visually,  the FP15 has the correct winrar file "look" however, the SP20 doesn't.  File sizes are correct.
I'm having Winrar downloaded...  easy thing would be to have c: opened, however,  we shoulod be able to use a non standard drive...

  • Maximum size for burning music CD?

I have recorded a meeting of 90 minutes on an external audio digital recorder, uploaded and converted the file from WMA to mp3, and put it in iTunes library. Now I want to burn it to a cd that can be played on either a computer or cd player. The cds say they can hold 80 minutes/700 MB. If the file is less than 700 MB, even if 90 minutes, will the whole thing burn on the cd? If not, I was told I should compress the file, which would "degrade" it a little, but the voices would still be intelligible, which is all I need. Does anyone know if I need to do this and, if so, how to do it? Any help would be appreciated very much. Thanks, JG

First, figure out where you want the break to be. Right-click the file, Get Info, go to the Options tab, and select the Start and Stop times for Part 1, then save it. In the library, highlight the track then choose Advanced > Create MP3 version. That will create a new individual file of just Part 1, which you can burn to audio CD in the normal fashion.
ed2345 gives you basically the same instructions I gave you so it looks like I got it right. However, ed2345 has you create another mp3 files from the original mp3 file instead of making an AIFF file. I cannot say for certain but I believe when you do this with itunes, itunes will re-encode the file, not just trim it (use mp3Trimmer if you want to do that). Whenever you mp3 encode a file you lose quality. If your ultimate goal was to have two mp3 files then you'd need to accept quality loss by creating a new mp3 file. Since your ultimate goal is an audio CD, by creating an AIFF file you don't have any quality loss (but do end up with a large file which you might delete afterward).
Note added: Forgot you were on a Mac. Where I said right-click, use option-click.
If you're using a two button mouse on a Mac, right-click also works.

  • HT204406 Change of status for my music

    Hi
Can someone tell me why the music I have been playing on our IMAC & ipod for years which we copied from our own CD's now has the icon Available for download against it, and when we last synced the ipod the music dissappeared and I only have the purchased music.? This is really annoying. Please dont tell me we have to click on each song to download what we already had available?
    Thanks Ingrida

Your address and billing address for your credit card have to be in the US too.  If they aren't, go to https://appleid.apple.com and manage your account to fix this.  If you continue to have problems, contact iTunes store support: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Change destination directory for screenshots?

I often use Cmd-Shift-3 and Cmd-Shift-4 to capture screenshots to my desktop.
To keep things a little tidier, how can I specify some other default directory for these images, e.g. a "ScreenShots" folder within the Desktop?
    Thanks.

Well, it depends on what you want to do.  There are a number of different hidden preferences that can be accessed through the "defaults" command - but knowing they're there is a trick.  Google does wonders for finding hidden preferences, where they exist.
Showing/hiding files is done with the "chflags" command....  "chflags hidden /path/to/file" to hide an item and change it to "nohidden" to show it.

  • Can i change the behaviour for the firefox menu so lists open instead of opening the 1st option?

is it possible to adjust the way the orange firefox menu behaves when you click an option?
currently hovering over an option opens the list underneath it(such as a list of bookmarks for the bookmarks option, or a list of visited pages for the history option) and clicking it opens the first item in the list.
i'd like to change this so the list is opened when you click an option too, since it's not possible to hover using a touchscreen.
it's rather annoying when the bookmarks management screen opens if all i want to do is bookmark the current page(which isn't possible from that screen)

i just downloaded what seems to be a preview/test version for the new interface(the browser calls itself UX) and its menu is a bit more touch friendly.
it does seem to have 1 major issue, if you put the bookmarks button inside the menu the bookmarks list can only use the height of the menu instead of the full height of the screen.
jscher2000: tapping the little arrow works, but it's too small to comfortably use.
i'll try out UX for now.

  • Can I change the volume for watching movies? I have my volume control on my iPad 2 at max

My iTunes downloaded movies is less than max.  It makes it hard to listen in place like an airplane.  I can change the volume for my music and it plays very loud.  The volume control on my iPad2 is max.

If these are purchase movies and not rentals, from iTunes, on your computer, you can select the movie in iTunes, use the key combination command-I to get the info on the movie. A info window pops up. Click the Options tab, a volume slider appears at the top of the window, slide the slider all the way to the the right, click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Then reconnect and sync your iPad, again, to the computer and wait for the movie to update to your iPad, then once everything is complete, eject the iPad from the left hand pane and disconnect. When you play the movie, again, from the iPad, the volume should be louder.
I do not believe you can do this with rented iTunes movies, though as I do not think they are editable as a rental.

  • Change of destination drive for download

I am short of space on my c drive; deleted all of adobe from it, then tried to download to my d drive, but it never gave me to option to select a destination drive .... what am I doing wrong?

The download of the installer goes to your browser's default download folder.
The install destination can be specified (on Windows, at least) on the first panel of the offline installer ('Change Destination Folder'), which you can download from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

How do I convert my Windows 7 Folder to an ISO image to burn to my  USB Flash drive (16GB)  in order to use Bootcamp Assistant to partition my MacBook Pro for Mac and Windows?

...or will it create it's own space outwith my backup stuff?
(Secondary question: would moving my iTunes music from internal to external drive noticably improve performance of my Mac? I'm using about 135GB of a 250GB drive, 60GB of which is in iTunes Music folder)

Should I create a partition on external drive for iTunes music? or will it create it's own space outwith my backup stuff?
I see no good reason to create a separate partition unless you're backing up with Time Machine. TM prefers to have it's own volume, so in that case partitioning would probably be a good idea.

No, probably not. As long as you're not getting the drive too full - opinions vary but about 20GB remaining should be plenty for most uses - you probably won't see any overall change in performance just from moving the iTunes content.
