Changing email port

I have gotten a couple notices from Verizon about changing my email port for new security purposes. I have gone to Accounts, and changed my outgoing mail server (STTP) to outgoing.verizon.net. I then have gone into the Server Settings and changed the port number from 25 to their requested 587. It doesn't allow me to send email. I know this is a verizon question, but is anyone else having to make this change, and is it necessary with OS 10.4.11?
Thanks

Hi Maurice,
A number of ISP's having been changing their port forwarding numbers to control spam problems for them and their customers. My account is with AttYahoo and they recently changed their outgoing port number.
I can't recall off hand but check to make sure there isn't a "lock" icon that you need to tick once you have entered all the new settings and confirmed them.
The mail settings need to be "exact" to work, obviously, so go back and check any spelling typos, especially with your password. Double check what you have entered for your SMTP address against what Verizon requires it to be now.
Your question is slightly confusing as you mention if this is necessary with 10.4.11. Your specs show you are using 10.3. Is this two different machines and versions of the OS that you are discussing?
If all else fails, I would recommend calling Verizon tech support and just ask them if they will walk you through their required setup for the Mail preferences. Trust me, they are quite accustomed to users needing help with mail settings. It used to be that you couldn't get a tech support person that knew anything about Mac OS but now they have their Mail setup, for whatever OS version, in front of them and can just walk you through the settings and troubleshoot if it doesn't work after that.

  • Why does the port settings on my iPad change every time I sync with my computer. After syncing I have to go in and change the port settings so I can send and receive emails on my iPad.

Every time iSync my iPad 2 with my computer it changes the port settings. Has anyone else had this issue?

When you sync the iPad, do you have mail settings configured to sync to the iPad? You could have different settings on your computer that might be affecting the email set up on the iPad when you sync.

  • How to change port 8080 to another and change email link

    HI ,
We can log onto Business Objects fine both in infoview and CMC using the URL http://servername:8080 but when we run a report and email the link to users the embedded URL http://servername:8080" does not work as it is blocked by our ISA. As a result we need to change the port from 8080 to another. We have changed the port as directed by this link:- http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?p=284295&sid=630c45ef6866f91e81813104372c64e5 and when we change the infoview and CMC URLs they work fine on the new port. However the email link to the report still goes out with port 8080 - what do i need to change in order to get the email to see the new port and hence allow our users to be able to access reports via the link we distribute.
    thanks
    Chris

    Hi,
the URL syntax shows that you are using BO XI 3.x. I assume that you add %SI_VIEWER_URL% in the message body of your email when you schedule the report.
Please go to the CMC and select Applications. Select the CMC entry and press the right mouse button to invoke the context menu. Select the processing settings entry and modify the port in the URL you are seeing there.

  • My ISP tells me I need to I need to change the port to send/receive e-mails, but I can't remember my Mail password to add an account. How can I proceed without the password?

My ISP tells me I need to change the port to send/receive mail, as the current port is going to be disabled for security reasons. But I can't remember my Mail password to add an account. How can I add an account when I don't remember my password? It's been several years.

your email password is with your ISP so they can help. but if it is saved in the email app you can just change the ports in the preferneces without a password.

  • My provider changed to pop3 port 995 incoming and port 465 outgoing. Now it no longer works. I went into the Thunderbird 28 beta and changed the ports

I have Thunderbird 28 beta. After changing the ports, I no longer receive mail and this is the error message going out:
    Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.3dcartstores.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
Passwords have not been changed and I have to login on the web

  • Change IMAP Port in Blackberry mail config

I hope someone can help me.  I'm configuring the email account from my University in my Blackberry Torch 9800. The common port for the IMAP protocol is always 995, unfortunatelly the port used un my university is 993. How can i Change the IMAP port configuration to access in my blackberry? The configuration assistant from the mail, does not give the option to configure de port and it gives an unnexcpected error, sinces it tries to get acces by 995 port.
    Best regards

    Hey jduguet,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
If the email is integrating under 995, that means it is integrating as POP3 SSL.  You are unable to change the port numbers in the BlackBerry Internet Service.
Also IMAP SSL is port 993.
Are you not receiving email when it is added via port 995?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Can I change JNDI port number?

Does anyone know where to change JNDI port number.
Currently, (it seems) relies on weblogic.system.listenPort property
which is the same for HTTP and JNDI. We would like to use separate ports for
    HTTP and JNDI server.

You don't. WebLogic is a "complete services" application server which
means it is listening at its 'listenPort' for all service requests. I'd
love for the ability to split off ports, and this may be the case in
6.0. In <6.0, however, you're stuck with two ports: the SSL port and
    the normal port.

  • Changing POP Port Numbers

My wife and I each has a verizon email account.
I recently got an email telling me to change port numbers for incoming and outgoing emails.  She did not.
    That leads to two questions:
    1.  Why hasn't she received the email?  Are only some verizon users affected now?  Is this being rolled out?
    2.  If I don't change the port numbers, will I eventually be unable to get email?  If so, when is the cut off?
    Thanks.
    -RS

The settings have worked for all Verizon email users (not Yahoo, etc) for a while.  They are just trying to stage the number of users that make the change at a time because a large number of users have had trouble making the changes correctly.  It is suspected that they may make the change mandatory sometime in the future.

    James

Ya , Manish you are right IWS 4.1 is really old.
But My application has been developed in past that is using IWS4.1 .
Right now , we are not having budget to migrate it from IWS4.1 to IWS6.1.
And the pointer for changing the port from magnus.conf is also correct but
I need to make it default port.
That means If would not specify any port number out of two port request goes to default one.

    Dear Apple support team,
I've already changed email for my apple id more than 6 months. But 2-3 months ago until now I've recieved and email to ask my apple id confirmation from me about 6-8 emails. I never confirm anything because I don't know, the link's attached, it's legal or illegal.
The latest link (just be sent to my email 1 hr. ago) : http://www.smartpixeladv.com/proma/Login/index.html
    Text is:
    Dear Customer,
We recently noticed an unusual activity in your iTunes account. Please complete the process to confirm your

This link will expire three days after this email was sent.
If you don’t make this request, your account will be blocked for security reasons.

In my opinion, i think      "http://"   should be   "https://"  right?  Or Apple should show the link on your website  that we can find, re- check and click by ourselve. Or  Apple should do "How to confirm apple id" on your main page. ( in fact  i'm not sure you already done "How to" on your website yes or not, because I cannot find it)
The apple id is sensitive security, it's concerned personal security and any credit card payment so please understand me that's why i must to interrupt your team to help me to solve this problem. I'm scared my account will be blocked. Please advice me.

  • Can't change printer port on Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2

    1. Install "Lexmark X646e Class Driver" using a in-box print driver (i.e. one comes with the Windows installation base) .
    2. Go to "Printer properties" -> "Port"
    3. Select a custom monitor port, and the following error occurs in Event Viewer.
An error occurred while configuring print queue 'Lexmark X646e Class Driver'. Printer driver 'Lexmark X646e Class Driver' may not be used in conjunction with a non-inbox port monitor.
Same steps applied on Windows 8 and Server 2012, and not issues found. The restriction/limitation is newly added in Window 8.1 and Server 2012 R2.
Changing to a custom monitor port after printer driver installation is very important for us.
How can we solve or workaround the above issue, so it can behave like Windows 8 and Server 2012?

What Port Monitor just so I can bubble this information to some others?
    Alan Morris Windows Printing Team
    Hi Alan:
We developed a custom printing system, which involved the following configurations:
    1. Create a custom port monitor on server 2012 r2.
    2. Change an existing print queue to use this custom port monitor, and share this print queue.
    3. All workstations will print to this shared print queue on the server.
The goal is to manage/monitor the print information in StartDocPort for all printing for instance.  This is what we've been doing for a long time.
Now we upgraded our system from server 2012 to server 2012 R2, but we can't change the port monitor to our ones anymore.
I've tried the Type3 printer driver, such as Brother Color Type3 Class Driver, unfortunately it didn't work if the installation is using "Add a printer", and select the driver from the list.
The only way to make it work is to install the printer driver using the one downloaded from the vendor's website, this will bypass Windows "Add a printer".
Is there any chance we can make this to behave like server 2012 or earlier? Modify registry keys?
    Cheers
    Steven

  • How do I change a port in Mac OS X Mountain lion

Apparently Logmein  makes use of port 2002 in mac OS X  Mountain Lion. I need to use that for some new accounting software. How  do I change the part in Mountain Lion and how would I do an install of  Logmein on the computer to use another port or how, with Logmein  currently installed do I change from port 2002 to some other port. The major question is how do you change port assignments in OS x Mountain Lion?
    Thanks for you help.
    Tom in Dallas

There isn't a generic way to do what you want.  Not on Microsoft Windows.  Not on OS X.
The ICANN registry of port numbers exists so that these messes don't happen, or don't happen very often.  So that there are no port conflicts among various applications, and there are ways to request ephemeral (temporary) ports, and (for some applications) to find out which port(s) the application happens to have allocated and is using.  In this case, it appears that folks at LogMeIn and with the accounting software didn't avail themselves of the ICANN port database.  They're using the preferences mechanism as a work-around for that.
Have a look at ipfw and pfctl tools here (see man ipfw and man pfctl at the Terminal.app prompt), and see if you can figure out how you're going to map just one local application that's opening 2002 to some other port, without disturbing the other application that's mapping to that same port (and colliding).  This is the remapping mechanism and akin to what can happen at some firewalls, and not the requested control over the selected port.  It's not set up to remap local application conflicts.
The selected port is either a configuration option within the specific tool, or it's hard-coded within the tool.  There's no generic registry of applications and ports.  That's what the ICANN port registry is for.
The worst-bad-ugly approach is to dump out the executable code, reverse engineer it, and patch the preferred port right into the code; to change the code without using the original source code.  Or some tool-specific configuration file or preferences setting, as and if available.
