Changing event time is buggy

When I crete ann event... then choose to edit the iCal event... in the edit window I click on the time area to update the time and:
1. the view now overwrites the entry it is see thru and is hard to read
2. the time is not modifiable consistently -  sometimes the cursor will highlight the time in blue and allow a change ... sometimes it won't.
Anyone else experiencing this and do you have a solution?

Check Date and Time prefs on your laptop. Is the time correct, and are both devices using the same time zone?

  • Ical changes event time and day

whenever I add a new event to ical, I enter all the details and click done.  It initially posts it where it is supposed to be, and then it switches to whatever the current date is and changes it to "all day."  When I click to edit it a second time, it usually works.  Why do I have to enter all the info twice to get it to stick?

Dennis, it's not you. iCal has handled time zone changes like this for some time now. As far as I can tell, Apple considers this a feature, not a bug. You see, iCal is trying to be helpful, so if you're normally in the US/Eastern time zone, and schedule something for noon, if you travel to the US/Pacific time zone, it will show the same event at 9:00 am. Technically, the same time is maintained, but unfortunately, 90% of users don't want this adjustment made for them because we don't think about time that way.
The above describes how iCal works with Time Zone Support OFF. Yes, even with Time Zone Support OFF, it auto-adjusts times when you change time zones.
When Time Zone Support is ON, it basically works the same way, except that instead of all your events being associated with one time zone (e.g. US/Eastern), you can assign different a time zone to each individual event (e.g. US/Pacific or US/Mountain). When Time Zone Support is OFF, iCal still assigns time zones to each event, but it's hidden from the user.

  • Ical does not let me change event time

I use OS 10.5.2. My ical does not let me change the minutes. It always defaults to :40(ie 10.40, 8:40, etc.) and it does not let me change the day. It always defaults to day 30(ie 1/30/08, 4/30/06, etc.)
    any help?

    maguas,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I am not familiar with the MacBook Pro keyboard or the modifier keys, but try using the Up/Down arrow keys on your keyboard to make the day/time changes.
Let us know if that works.

  • Can I switch calendars (Ex. "night shift" to "day shift" cal) with a repeating event, but ONLY for that one event??  It asks "for all events or only this event" if i change the time.  But it changes ALL events when i try and switch calendars.  Any help??

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar.  I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts".  But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days.  I want to change that in my calendar.  When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event.  no problem....just this single event.  but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event.   can anyone help with this???  am i doing something wrong?  is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program???  i used to do this and never had any problems.    Thank you!

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)
Exactly what you you trying to do?

  • Bug(?) with iCal - Can not change the event time

    Hello all,
First of all, let me preface my question by admitting that I'm new to the Mac world, transitioning from MS environment. So please, be a bit patient
    Now, on to my problem:
I have created events in iCal and I can not change the time for any event. The time that's always displayed is 15:54! I have checked the time zone setting to on/off to se if it makes a difference, but to no avail. I have also gone into preferences and under the General Tab, the Day starts at and the Day ends at: show three (3) selections; Noon, 15:54, Midnight !!???
I have changed the Show hours at a time, to see if that makes a difference, but it does not.
To add to the above mystery, I have created events with my mobile SonyEricsson K850i, with the correct time(s), date, etc., synchronized with iCal and the time changed to 15:54!!
This is a new MacBook Pro, with the latest patches! For some reason the iCal applet does not allow any changes to the time.
Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I am having the exact same problem you discussed and was wondering whether you ever found a solution.
    Cheers,
    Anna

  • Event Time in iCal changed after the Event Date changed !!!!

I can not change either Date of Time of the Event because both of them will be changed to be the same value all the time.
Please see the picture below. I changed to date to 29th and the time changed to 29:00 !!!!

The Time Column in iCal look strange, too.

I always have my iCal sync with me.com and sync my iPhone with iCal.
Now I have to sync my iPhone with me.com directly to get correct information.
Could you please solve this problem?
I have to edit the event's time on either iPhone or me.com.

    Greetings,
iCal depends on the computer to tell it how to interpret time and ranges of time. If you change the time arrangement on the computer this can cause issues in iCal. It looks to me like you are using a non-standard time arrangement.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language&Text > Formats > Region
This should NOT say "custom". If it does, choose the correct Region for your area of the world (or how you like the format to be).
Check out iCal and see if it is working.
    Hope that helps.

  • All Event times change with Daylight Savings time

With the time change associated with daylight savings time (March 8 2008) all my event times were changed by one hour. EG: events that were 8:45 am are now 7:45 am. I have tried using Time machine to restore to pre March 8 status, but an adjustment takes place and the events remain 1 hour ahead. I have looked through the discussions pages and don't even see the issue identified. I have looked through the menu and preference items and find nothing to help.
I am surprised not to find this a front page topic today, March 9 2008.
Can anyone offer some help ?
    Bill Mullen

    Michael,
I never have changed time zones. Are you suggesting I should have time zone support enabled ?
I just tried turning on Time Zone Support, then restoring my calendar using Time machine. No change here.
As I mentioned earlier, this same problem occurred in the fall (although I don't remember which way the event times moved), this time they moved forward. At the Fall change I was using a Mac G4, which I used as a target to build this machine. The only thing I can think of that makes me unique (although I'm not in that small of a group) is that I have altered one of the files in iSync to allow iSync to sync calendar events with iCal. The syncing has always worked OK.
Right now I'm leary of attempting to do anything with iSync. I'm also finding it difficult to believe I'm not one of 10,000 people experiencing the same problem, but I don't see any other posts.
I found a time zone in south america which returns my times to the correct figure, with time zone support enabled, but that looks like a deeper hole to dig out of.
    Still stuck,
    Bill

  • Change Event dispatched 2 times in List Component

    Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to read about my problem. I have a List component which has a simlpe array of strings as a dataprovider. I'm using the change event to call a method and I don't know why this method gets called 2 times.
¿Someone knows why this keeps happening?
    Thanks for your help.
    Sebastián Toro

If an s:List, you put a IndexChangeEvent listener the event, and in that event, cast a filterFunction to the dataProvider of that List ...
You will have to validate inside that function through property IndexChangeEvent newIndex of greater than or equal to ZERO.
Because interestingly, the dataProvider of the List filter is invoked IndexChangeEvent again, but now the newIndex, give a value of "-1", leading with it the entire event, from null and associated with this throw this:
Error # 1009: Can not access a property or method of a null object reference.
When referring to the event ... :/

  • ICal event times changed when my mac updated time to daylight saving time

When my mac updated its time automatically to daylight saving time, the timed events in iCal all had an hour added to them. Time zone support is off in iCal. I tried changing my time zone from the system preferences (just to see what happens) and the iCal times also change. Is there any way to turn off this ridiculous and useless (to me) feature? I travel quite a bit and all iCal events are always added in local time scheduling. So there is no need for the event times to change when I change time zone!
    Thanks!

I am having the same problem but it's only some of the appointments that were changed. I think some were entered after the update and perhaps those weren't changed. Very confusing.

  • Capture date change event of Time Refresh Control

    Hi,
Is there any possible way by which we can capture the date change event from the time refresh control of iGrid?

    Hi,
Ok lets do it this way.
I have a page in which i am having radio button for date selection say YTD, MTD and so.
In the page i have a frame in which an iGrid is coming up with some data based on the time period selected on the page.
Now if i change the date from the time refresh control of the iGrid in the frame i want to uncheck the radio button seleted on the page as now its not YTD or MTD or whatever selected previously.
Is there any possible way to do this?

  • Event Times Changed

I am using iCal and syncing it to my Palm Z22 using MissingSync (6.0.2) which I'm told is the newer version that should work with Leopard. My problem is that sometimes the sync works perfectly, and sometimes it changes the time of events. All things look great on iCal, but on my Z22 some events are perfect, some will show the time as an hour ealier, and sometimes an hour later, with the correct time listed in parenthesis after the event title. Any idea why? Or, how to fix?

    Any suggestions?

  • Change standard view: remove event time

In iCal, a lot of visual space is wasted listing the time of an event. Fortunately, the time is unlisted in some cases (e.g., a half hour event in 'week' view), but for 1 hour events or more, the view of the event description is occluded by the start time. This time listing is redundant and unnecessary, since it is also indicated and easily visible to the left of the day columns in 'week' view, for example. Is there a way to remove the time? Any suggested workarounds so that we can see more of our event descriptions at a quick glance?
    thanks in advance.

this is true, but i'm most interested in turning off times in 'week view', since times are already listed via the grid on which events lie. it sounds like a second radio button in Preferences>General should be added, called "Show/Hide event times in week view".
    apple, are you listening?

  • Published Calendar CHanging the Time of Events

I am using iCal 4.0.4 on my MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.5. I have both personal and work related calendars in iCal. The personal calendars sync to mobile me very successfully and from there to my mobile devices. The problem is with the calendars which are stored on "On My Mac" which I want to publish to a website via Mobile me. In the past this was simple, however after having an overhaul of our calendars, I noticed that the published calendars were all 8 or 9 hours ahead of the correct time. I have followed the advice on the support pages regarding setting time zones and nothing is working. I have tried using floating and that doesn't seem to work either. Any suggestions?
    Thank you

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions. I changed the time of a Powershot file in Elements and used the file/write metadata to files as you suggested but with the same outcome - an hour's difference between what is in Elements and what is recorded on the hard drive. The messages stated metadata safely saved to file. I also checked the file properties - achive was ticked not read only....

  • Process Chain changing start time?

hi guysm i have 76 process chains that run every day in BWD system, so i removed all the timings from the start variant and in the infopackages, but it seems some process chains are still running, i did do the following steps on chnaging the time from a particular time to immediate, Save, Check and activate, i didnt schedule it as i dont want it to load right away .
do i have to hit check , save , schedule once i change the time from a particular time to immediate load or activate will work as well.?
what else could be the cause of process chains still loading even there are no events, or time given to any process chains at all.
i went to sm 37 and i can see the bi process are all running at the time they were orignially set up on.
    so any suggestions would help,
is there any way from sm 37 i can tell which process chain is triggered off?
    thanks
    Dante(devils never cry)

Dante, the start conditions on the infopackages do not affect when they run in process chains.  The process chains have their own start job.  If you want to change the start time of a process chain, then you need to go to maintain the process chain, right-click on the Start process and select Displaying Scheduled Job(s)... .  Here you will see a job called BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER.  Change the start conditions of this job.
The start job for all process chains is BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER, so using SM37 may be difficult to identify which BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER job is associated to a particular chain.
Also, to let you know, each process in a process chain has an associated job.  All jobs called BI_PROCESS_xxxxx are jobs associated with a process chain.
    Eg.
    BI_PROCESS_LOADING is an infopackage.
    BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER is the start job
    Does this help?

  • How do I stop iCal from ever changing the time zones of my appointments?

I cannot figure out time zone support in iCal, and just want it never to move the time of an appointment when I change time zones. I have tried switching time zone support on and off, and it makes no difference, the appointment times change when the time zone changes. It's infuriating! How do I make it stop?
    Thanks!

    Whitecity,
According to iCal Help...Changing the time zone for an event: Choose iCal > Preferences, click Advanced, and select the "Turn on time zone support" checkbox...To change the event's time zone, choose a time zone from the pop-up menu in the Info drawer. To make the event appear at the same time no matter what time zone the main calendar view is in, choose Floating..;~)
