Changing file date name of screenshots

i had to do a fresh install and now my screenshots are showing up out of order because the default setting is basically dumb as far as AM PM is concerned.
can someone remind me if there was a non-applescript or non-terminal way to fix this?
i seem to recall simply some setting somewhere or perhaps something as simple as a tinkertool setting...?
thanks.s

I think the lack of response confirms that if you are going to use Auto Create, you have to accept the way it is.

  • Batch change does not change meta data name when exporting or copy

I use batch change to change the name of an event when photos from more than one source (camera) are imported. When I copy or export the photos the name reverts to the original meta data file. I do this to override duplicate names. For instance photos from two cameras taking pictures of the same event can have identical names such as IMG_0100. Iphoto does not show all the metadata on info but does show the change in the name when viewing info in iphoto.
Is there some way to permanently change the name on photos using a group or batch method?

No you're not changing any filenames at all.
There is no way to change a filename in iPhoto at all. What you with Batch Change is add a Title to the photo. A Title is an entry in the metadata.
You can set the name of an exported file to be the same as the title, when you export... if you choose that option.

  • NI unzip changes file date and time stamp

A coworker this morning asked me about the NI-Unzip VI.
It turns out that when the NI unzip VI unzips a file it changes the file dates to the date the file was unzipped.
He also noted that NI-Unzip seems to be calling the Windows touch.exe to do this.
The diagram for NI unzip is locked and password protected so his attemp to change this action blocked.
Does anyone know a way around this? Either to make the NI Unzip stop changing the file date or the passwork to teh unzip vi?
Message Edited by RTSLVU on 03-22-2010 08:01 AM

    Hi,
I don't think NI will give you a password for it's protected functions...
    So you can:
    - use "System Exec" with a command line version of a ZIP tool of your choice to unzip files
    - make your own "Unzip" VI with calls to a "unzip"-DLL of your choice
Choose the one that is easier to implement for you

  • Batch change file date to match exif date

    Hi All-
I recently got a mac pro. Upon importing my photos to iPhoto, the file date for each is set to the date of the import. When using the mac photo screensaver, the date that shows up for everything is the import date, rather than the date the photo was taken.
Is there any way to batch change the pictures so that the file date matches the date the picture was taken?
(Or, a way to have the screensaver use that date
    Thanks,
    -jamie

Interesting, but here is what I found out. I was annoyed because when I sucked in about 1000 JPGs from my camera's memory stick, and then I copied them to my Windows boxen, the file dates were wrong. I was surprised that there isn't an easy way to do this... until your post!! Thanks. *APPLE, Please fix the way "Originals" are stored during iPhoto import*, since something is wrong here. The file dates stored on my memory stick should have been used not the moment I clicked import in iPhoto.
So I moved my jhead to /usr/bin and gave it root ownership and 755 permissions.
All of the pictures seem to be three deep here:
    cd ~/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/Originals
    ls -lsGrt /*/.jpg
But that is only a small fraction of mine. Most end in .JPG
    ls -lsGrt /*/.JPG
So here is the commands to do the correction of the file date and time. You don't need the find command or that script, although you might need to snoop around and make sure all of your files are here and not any deeper or in some other location. but this should be harmless to run as long as you want to alter every file date.
    jhead -ft /*/.jpg
    jhead -ft /*/.JPG
And that pretty much does it. I don't see any images elsewhere that were brought in by iPhoto 6 on my machine. I looked for MPG files but I don't have any. This is from a video recording camera, so I don't have any MPGs.
So jrsmobile, my mileage varied a lot, since your method missed about 95% of my photos!!

  • Keyboard not working (sometimes) when attempting to change file/folder name

Every now and then, my keyboard doesn't seem to work when I'm trying to change the name of file or folder. I can't isolate any particular context when this occurs. When it happens, the keyboard works fine in other applications.
Any ideas on why this happens?

Here's a description of what happens. Let's say I want to change the name of a file or folder on my desktop. I click the item, then the name, and the name becomes editable. Every now and then, even though the file/folder name is in the edit mode (highlighted or cursor inserted), when I try to type nothing happens (the name doesn't change). When this occurs, the keyboard functions properly in all other ways.
Again, I can't isolate the circumstances leading up to this. Any ideas?

  • Lightroom changes file date (build and changeing date) by jpg files

    Hallo
I am using Lightroom on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Problem is that Lightroom changes both dates of the file (the date when the file was build and the date when you have made changings on the file) when i save the Metadates to the file.
This happens only by jpg files. By raw / xmp files is the date of the raw file not changed, the both dates of the xmp are also changed like by jpg.
I want not to change the time when the file was build. So that i can see in the Finder / Explorer when the file was build ( Photo taken).
How can I solve this Problem.
    Thanks for Help

Do not save the metadata to the files. It's quite unnecessary to do so, but of course, you should have full backups of the images and the catalog(s) [.lrcat].

  • Lightroom changes file date and time

When I imported a large number of images to Lightroom, keeping the files in their original location, the dates and times of the files were updated. This is a bit of a pain because it means that about 4000 files will now be backed up again to the online backup service I use. Why does LR change the filedate when all it's doing is importing to the library?

    > Alexander wrote: I believe you have set the option to "Automatically write changes into XMP" and are working with non-raw files (jpeg, tiff or dng)? In this case it is the expected behaviour as LR will write any metadata changes right into the files, thus changing the modification date of the image files.
Either uncheck the above mentioned preference setting or beg Adobe to bring us back xmp side car files for jpeg, tiff and dng.
No, I'm not stalking you :)
The following applies to Macintosh OS X, 10.4.8. I don't know if the same happens with Windows.
I had a similar problem when editing some JPEG file from my Fuji F30. When I would Export the metadata the 'Modified' date of the file changed as expected. However, for certain files, the 'Created' date also changed. I opened a case with Adobe, sent them a description of the problem and some sample files. The Technical Support person reproduced the behavior and passed the information to Engineering.
Yes, Adobe, give us XMP files for all files.

  • DNG Changes file date

I have a new Canon 70D and Lightroom 4 which does not support it.
I donwloaded the DNG converter to convert files so I could avoid the upgrade to lightroom 5.
When using hte DBG converter I find that a .CR2 file with a date of 12/31/2013 8:00AM gets changed to 1/4/2014 5:40PM
    Bad program behaviour
    AND
to top it off the current computer time is 1/5/2014 2:30pm
This seems very odd. Is there a work around?
Does Adboe care that this program is fatally flawed in this regard?
When using lightroom to convert CR2 to DNG this never happened.

  • External table fails to view data after changing file name

    Hello,
I have previously imported 122 external tables and was able to view their data without any problems.
The names of these files have since changed. The names have a date in them.
So I dropped the external tables from that database and recreated them with the new file names.
I then went into OWB and dropped them from OWB.
I reimported all of the tables without errors.
I go to view the data and get an error that the file does not exists.
The problem is that the file it is telling me does not exists, is the file I had been using last week. Not the new file.
However, when I go and right click the external table and do a configure, the correct name is showing up under datafiles.
It's almost as though when I dropped the external tables, not everything was cleaned up. For whatever reason, OWB is still using the old names.
    Dan

Hi there... Wich OWB version are you using?
If you've created this external tables using any other tool (ie: SQLPLUS, SQLDeveloper, Toad, SQLNavigator, etc), are you able to query this objects from one of these tools?
If you've created this ET's using OWB, are you creating it as external tables or are you mapping it as source flat files?
If you are using OWB to create it, there are a few configurations/properties you should change to have them running well.
    Please, post some more info.
    Thanks

  • When I change meta data, File name changes too

In iTunes 11.1.3 I have been modifying the Music file ID3 tags (or what ever they're called).  I've found, though, that when I change the song name in the "Get Info" dialog box, it also changes the ACTUAL file name of the song.
    For example.
I download a a CD and the CD information is downloaded.  Then when I drag the newly created mp3 into iTunes and select "Get Info" to modify all of the information.
Once i hit Okay or Next.  I watch the File name in Finder change as well.
How do I keep it from doing this?

  • Infopackage routine for changing  file name

    Hi Everyone,
I have to load flat files from application server directories. I get these files from different locations and they are saved in own (location) folders by a script). I would like to run these file from infopackage through process chain. the problem is that these files have changing names. The format is like this
    Canada_co3300.csv
I can write a routine is my infopackage but  "co3300" keeps changing as it represents different companies code in that particular location (Canada).
      I have a routine
data: F1 type string value 'D:\usr\sap\FLAT_FILES\Inbound\Cayman\Canada_<b>co3300</b>_',
    F2 type string '.csv'.
    concatenate f1 f2 into p_filename.
How can I get a variable <b>co</b>---- in my routine so my infopackage can read the file if <b>co</b> has different value like co2000. Thanks In advance.
    Regards,
    Asad

    Hi Saugata,
My flat file name has a naming convention based on company code in application server folder, so I get files with name
                                               Canadaco<b>3000</b>.csv  or
                                               Canadaco<b>2000</b>.csv or
Canadaco<b>4000</b>.csv or something else <b>(co</b> number keeps changing)
So My file name keeps changing all the time. I would like my infopackage to read these files automatically thorugh a routine or logical file name. I have tried both, but donot know how to configure this scenerio thorugh my infopackage. Please give me steps to use that table you mentioned. Thanks .

  • Copying file based on initial part of file's name and creation date

We have a client who dumps data in one of our 2003 SP2 server. We need a script to copy a single file from this location to
one of our 2008 R2 server.Like in the source server we have
    abc_Today'sDate_hexadecimal.csv  (File Name)
    Today
                   (Date Modified)
    abc_YesterDay'sdate_hexadecimal.csv      (File Name)
    Tomorrow         (Date Modified)
'abc' is constant in the file name where rest changes.  We want this file, whose name is starting with 'abc' and created today to be copied to destination, preferably replacing the file which was copied yesterday.
I know nothing about scripting so any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

If you are hoping to get a complete solution, you won't as that is not the purpose of this forum.
If you are hoping to learn how to accomplish this task yourself with a little help, then this is the place for you, but...
you will be better off to start learning powershell, perhaps using this exercise as a practical example. So to start, you should type these commands in the powershell console:
    help get-childitem
    help copy-item
if the documentation that this presents makes no sense to you, you will have to get past the "knowning nothing about scripting" condition first. If so, someone here will no doubt provide some usefu references...

  • Changing file name dynamically in INFOSPOKE

    Hi All,
I am using infospoke to export data to third party.
But here file name is constant. I want to change the file name using prefix with time stamp before filename. For example if data is getting extracted today and file name is suppose ABC then it should become 03.06.2009ABC.
Please let me know the process how to achieve this.
Your input would be a great help to me.
    Thanks,
    Uday.

Hi dear..ur file will have dynamic date appended in the begining as per the current date..and I do always...so don't worry about that..few more settings are there when you will be specifying logical path..
    go to transaction file
1.say yes on cross client message
2.double click on the logical path definition..check if there already specified logical path..for you..(you may find it out by clicking on another tcode AL11)
once you know it..you can find the details by clicking on assignment of physical path ...
if its not present..i dont' hope so..then create one..eg. ZLOGTEST
    .Logical path    ZLOGTEST
Name            Logical file Path Definition(folder path)
    Syntax group    UNIX       Unix compatible
Physical path   /transfer/<FILENAME>   (here it depends on ur application server folder check AL11)
3.Now click on Logical file name definition
    Logical file    ZTEST_INFOSPOKE
    Name            ZTEST_INFOSPOKE
    Physical file   /<SYSID>/<DATE>_ZTEST_.CSV
    Data format     ASC
    Applicat.area   BW
    Logical path    ZLOGTEST
when u would have defined logical path in step 2 the only u can use it in step 3.
Ti will work always..to add time also use tab <TIME> in between...if u want..

  • Changing File Names in Lightroom

Due to a user problem I had set up the incorrect year in Nikon D80.  When I import images into Lightroom the date becomes the first part of file name
    e.g. 20090212_Mexico_HMP_0002.NEF
So I am wondering how to change the date (Date Time Original, Date Time Digitized ad Date Time fields) in the EXIF section for 426 photographs.  If I can change that, then I can use the Library >Rename Photo command to change the actual file name
    thanks

I think if you select them all in grid view then choose:
    Metadata > Edit Capture Time
then fix the first photo to a specific capture time, I think it will adjust all the others based on the required amount to adjust the first one based on the following comment in the help file:
"If more than one photo is selected in the Grid view, Lightroom changes the capture time for the active photo by the specified adjustment. (The active photo is previewed in the Edit Capture Time dialog box.) Other photos in the selection are adjusted by the same amount of time. If more than one photo is selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, the capture time is changed only on the active photo"
I would suggest trying it on a few images first.  There are probably other ways as well.
