Changing file information quest

I have the Rhapsody To Go service, which allows me to transfer as much music as I want for 5 bucks a month. This service also does the music transferring for me, no Creative Mediasource required. So my question is:?After transferring music to my player (getting a Vision M) with Rhapsody, can I?then use Creative Mediasource to change file information and tack on album art to music files?

yes i do beli've you can if not use wmp

  • How to change file information in ADE?

I am having trouble loading eBooks into ADE with missing book information. I would like the books to be searchable after they are input into my Nook, but when I load the books into ADE some of the information fields are blank (author, title, etc.). I don't see an "edit file info" button anywhere and when I change the file info in Explorer, it still imports incorrectly. How can I edit file information in ADE so my books can be easily searcheable in my Nook?

    Thank you for advice.
I know that I can create epub files with fonts included in them.
My question was- how to refer in the epub to external font file, that ADE would understand and display,
doing that would let me keep overall file size of my book library significantly less, because I would not need to include same fonts in every book.
I am able to do it on the devices, I am able to do it in Sony Reader Library, but PC version of Adobe Digital Editions does not work the same way. All I need is to  know where to put external fonts on my PC so that I could refer to them from inside the epub and that ADE would find and display them.
Though I do appreciate the attention, I'd double the appreciation if you read the question before offering the answer.

  • Changing file information for music

I have some mp3's on my computer, and I've noticed that if I right click them and select "Get Info", in the "More Info" section there is information like album name, genre, authors, title, and so forth. My question is, how do I change this information? I know that you can drag a file into the iTunes library and change it from there by right-clicking and editing it, but is there a way to change this information outside of iTunes, so that when I select "Get Info" for a file that has not been imported into iTunes, it says the album name and song title and so forth that I want it to say, and not the one it's set to now? Can I change that information?

You need to edit the mp3 ID tag. You can do this in itunes, or you can use a seperate program. The finder is not an mp3 tag editor. I use itunes, but there are others.
google "os x mp3 tag editor" (without quotes) you'll find some.

  • Changing file information

    New Mac User here...
I know that on a PC you can change any file information...
for instance...if you want to change a music file's genre, title, etc. you can do so without going into itunes.
i downloaded a song onto my mac and it has all the wrong info (the name of the song is wrong, the genre's wrong) and this is really bothering me. I go to the file and click get info but i can't change anything except the file's extension. if i go to into itunes and click get info on the song i can change anything...but the file info is still the same (wrong title, etc.)
i don't know if that makes any sense...but can anyone help me out?

The only way to edit the id3 tags is with an id3 tag editor. iTunes contains an id3 tag editor and it is used via the iTunes interface. If you edit the song/file on the HD from the Finder 'get info' then all you are changing is the name on the HD.
If you have the 'keep organized' function enabled in iTunes prefs then the name on the HD will be changed to match the name in the iTunes interface.
From iTunes Help Menu using the search tag of 'id3'
    iTunes: Working with ID3 Tags
<This article explains how to update ID3 tags on MP3 files that contain no information, partial, or incorrect information in iTunes.
    Symptom
iTunes contains no information, partial, or incorrect information in some of the fields (Song, Artist, Year, Album, Track Number, Genre)
    Products affected
    iTunes
    Mac OS 9.1
    Mac OS X (all versions)
    Solution
If you want to change information in one of the ID3 Tags fields in the Library or a playlist, follow these steps:
Select a song by clicking it within iTunes. If you wanted to change the info for more than one song (batch), select all of the files you want to have similar information by holding down the Command key, and clicking each song to be changed.
Choose Get Info from the File menu, or use Command-I. This opens the iTunes Song Information window.
    Click the "Tags" tab.
The Song Name field is next to the iTunes MP3 icon.
In the "Tags" window you can make changes to all fields shown.
Note: The Song Name field must contain information. (The Song Name field is located next to the iTunes MP3 icon.)
An alternative is to use a utility such as ID3X.>

  • I try to play a song, but iTunes has changed the information on the file

After installing iCloud, my iTunes suddenly started changing the information on my music files. I would go to play one song, but another song would play instead. I have a PC. Does anyone have any idea what the cause and solution might be?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Missing File information

I was trying to make a smart folder to house all the pictures in certain folders that were less than a month old. A bunch of these pictures were taken earlier today. Anyway, The "Created" option wasn't showing anything for the past month and after poking around a bit, I realized by opening the picture file's information window that under "Date Created" it just said "--". I tried to figure out in preferences in the finder but you know how limited those options are. I may not really need to know how to write in missing file information. That would be a bit of a pain. I was wondering where the problem was coming from. Why would my iMac not put a date and time stamp in the file's info when I got it off my camera? I need to make my Mac start doing that.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I tried "Date Modified" and it worked until I would open one of the files. Once they were closed and you went back to the folder, that file was gone. I'm not really sure why. I feel like there's a simple explanation for this and that I was missing something quite obvious. It's driving me nuts. I can't think of a reason that would happen. I tried everything time related. The key part of this is that I want the files to disappear once they are a certain age (I'm thinking about a month). Without that part of the equation, I don't really have a use for the folder at all. I was thinking for some reason that there was no way for a user to change anything in the file's information manually. The answer I think that would have to occur is to find a way to get my Mac to start stamping the date and time. The only reason I don't think it's the camera is that even if the camera didn't stamp the date and time, the OS should have when it came through. Oh yeah, this isn't a new camera and I have pictures from 3 to 4 months back that were successfully imported with the information. ALl the way back to the earliest image taken with this camera (and I've had this camera for a couple years!).

I can't change any information for any songs in my library, everything is just greyed out.  How can I get the ability to edit my song information?

I found one other way to do it.  I just deleted them all out of my iTunes library. Now I can re-import them from Window's My Music file with the original artists' names intact.
    Thanks for your help, Matt!

  • Changing file Name

    Hello,
I need to change the file name for images I am using in a website I am building with iWeb. The file names for the images cannot include any special characters. I have tried to change the file name as suggested through iPhoto Help. It seems to work but when I use the image in my site, the file information is still the old file name. I have also tried dragging the image to my desktop, then changing the file name through the file's information page, then importing it back into iPhoto and or just dragging it onto the web page I am creating and every time the file name reverts back to the original. Help please

I painstakingly renamed a group of photo files in iPhoto9, changing titles on each of the 85 images to a numeric string (001 thru 085), to get them to display consecutively.
Never noticed the Photos -> Batch Change command?
EVERY time I burn to a disk, POOF!, each individual image reverts to its original file name (either the original name created in the camera, or the original names on images a colleague e-mailed).
It doesn't "revert". A title is not a filename.
What you need to do is select the pics in the iPhoto Window and the go File -> Export. IN the resulting dialogue look at the bottom and note the File Name option: from the dropdown select 'Use Title'
    That'll do what you want.

  • ADE changes file names

The book I downloaded has each chapter as a seperate .pdf, each with it's own unique filename. ADE has retitled every chapter (.pdf) to the name of the book. Now that all the chapters have the same name, I can't transfer them to my Kobo. How do I change titles or get ADE to stop changing file names?
    Thanks

    Dimitri,

  • Searching for file information

Is it possible to search for files that have File Information data embedded? The info could have been entered in either the Origin or Description tabs, and will have been entered in both CS3 and CS4 versions of Photoshop (ie not through Bridge).
I would like to find: A) all files that have any sort of file info attached, and B) to be able to search by keyword (or metatag, I'm not 100% sure of the difference).
    Many thanks for any help.
    Brian

Dear Curt, thanks for your prompt reply!
Thats not quite what I was asking about. I have a customer's archive of many thousands of scans of 35mm slides, negs etc. (not from digi cameras). Some of these images have file info embedded - typed in using the File Info command in Photoshop. I need to be able to sort out those that have the info from those that do not, and further, I want to be able to search for a particular term, for example "british rock group".
I know about how to Search using Ctrl-F, and I have discovered the drop-down box that lets you select items to search on, but it doesn't appear to work properly, so either its a bug or I'm doing it wrong. For example, if I do a search where Keywords + Exists, it only finds 12 images and I know for certain that there are many more than 12 images that have info attached. If I change it to Description + Exists, it still only finds the same 12 images. If I search for Description + Contains + British rock group, it finds nothing, even though I can see two pictures that clearly have the term "british rock group" in their descriptions from the previous "Keywords + Exists" search.
I'm sure the data has been entered correctly in File Info in the first place, so I don't understand why Bridge cant find these files (or more than 12), there are many hundreds of files that have data embedded.
    This is Bridge v 3.0.0.464 in CS4.

  • Change file name with oreilly servlet

I am using oreilly servlet package and I want to change the file name to the file I am uploading, is this possible ?
    How ?
    Thanks.
here I post the servlet code:

    Hi there,
I am facing the same problem that you have stated in your Feb 26, 2002 10:28 AM message regarding "change file name with oreilly servlet", I would like to change the file name to include a unique identifier upon upload, did you ever find a solution to your problem?
    Thanks!

  • How do I stop DW CS6 randomly changing file permissions via FTP?

How do I stop Dreamweaver CS6 12.0.1.5842 randomly changing file permissions when it uploads files to my web server via FTP.
I can no longer trust Dreamweaver to upload websites correctly as it changes permissions on some files which then deny the server access to the file which in turn makes the webpage unreachable/return a 403 error.
    This is driving me insane.
I'm using an early 2011 Macbook Pro 10.7.5.

    Hi,
I'm having this problem too. Has Adobe fixed the issue yet? This appears to be an Adobe problem, not all the web hosts out there. CS6 is ramdomly (meaning: not every time) changing permissions on files uploaded with it and is not usable for web work until this problem is fixed by Adobe or a solution is provided. If I wanted to use a separate FTP program I would not have recommended that my employer buy multiple Adobe CS6 product licenses. One of the primary appeals of DW is the integration of FTP into the workflow.
I am using a destop iMac2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
    OSX 10.7.5
I am using DW Version 12 Build: 5808
Dreamweaver CS4 that I was using until this new purchase was working just fine. No file permisssion changes. I am being forced to go back to using it until Adobe posts a fix for this.
I should ask while I'm here: has anyone found a solution for this yet?
    Thanks,

  • I have a new email address and was successful in changing that information on line but my phone and iPad does not recognize the new address and I cannot update anything. It also does not accept the password associated with the old email address/Apple ID

I have a new email address and was successful in changing the information online but cannot change it on my iPhone 4S or iPad. When I try to fix the problem it requires me to create a new password and now I can't remember that either.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
