Hi again!
First and most important check
http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224
to see whether your device isn't really meant to be for the 3.1.2 version. The product code is on the back label below the battery. Have you done that?
If this site says you should have 4.0736.3.1.2 then your phone might have been debranded via changing the product code and that's a problem. In case the previous update has been made in authorised Nokia care service, then you can still go and claim your rights to fix the device.
Have in mind, though, that there's a chance that the phone has been debranded by changing the product code. This means that the product code when read from the phone's software will be different from the back printed label. That's a problem, too.
Check with the device and post the feedback here...
Hi, kamenlitchev, the link to check FW has changed again to http://europe.nokia.com/link?cid=EDITORIAL_528996 . Why change so often???

Could anyone please help to provide procedure to change firmware from HPG8 to SN06 of Hdd ST31000340NS (Part number:9CA158-784). My controller LSI 3ware 9650SE support SN06 firmware.I am facing raid degraded issue.
Is it recommaded by HP to change firmware if we have any HDD failure.
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hello Xenpus,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the computer has a RAID degrading issue. I think that updating the BIOS is a good starting place. But based on what you told me, it seems like there is a hardware issue. If you cannot fix it, I would contact HP phone support for hardware assistance. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide

  • Is it possible to change firmware?

    Hi,
I want to buy a router.
Since I'm a happy Apple user, I think Airport Extreme would be a nice option for me.
There're some Linux-based router firmwares (Tomato, OpenWRT, FreeWRT,...) that supposedly transform a regular router into a "super router".
I've look into the features offered by the linux firmware and some of them caught my eye, for instance:
+ running rsync between an USB disk attached disk and a remote server
+ downloading through FTP, HTTP or Torrent to an USB attached disk
    + ...
These features would allow me to run some tasks without having my Macbook turned on all the time, very useful.
My questions are: is the Airport Extreme capable of running services like rsync as a standalone machine? If not, would I be capable of changing the firmware of AEBS to a linux-based one?
    Thank you.

The answers are no and... no.

  • 2 WRT54G's in series...changes Firmware?

I have 2 WRT54Gs connected to the same internet connection in series. Both use the direct connection. One works fine; the other does not. One drops the connection constantly. On closer inspection, I open the admin of the router in question. It shows a Firmware version of 1.50.8 when the connection is down. When the connection is up, the router admin shows a firmware version of 2.00.8.  There is no issue if I bypass the router in question; however, i can still pull up the router admin page. Is it pulling from the first router now, or is it possible that the 'bad' router is actually fluctating between firware versions?

The router does not change the firmware. If you see different results it is because you have connected the router incorrectly. You sometimes access the one router and sometimes the other one. Simply test this when you unplug bother routers from anything else and then wire a single computer to it. Then you'll see what firmware version you run on that router.
I guess, you have wired/configured the routers incorrectly. You cannot chain two routers without reconfiguring one of them.
As you don't write why you have two WRTs or what the purpose of the setup is I can only suggest you set them up like this. This will create a single LAN and allows you to setup a wireless roaming network if you configure both WRTs with identical wireless settings except for the channel number.

  • Changing firmware in my Zen x

I already owned a 60GB player that I manage thru The Creative "Organizer"
My cousin gave me his 60GB player as he got an IPOD Vision.
He had updated the firmware to PlayforSure firmware.
I cannot get it to upload to the Creative "Organizer".
how do I get the firmware changed to conform with my old player,
so both can use the organizer?
    Thanks

Have you tried running a disk cleanup? To access the maintenance menu hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the maintenance menu. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu.

  • Changed firmware on 30g ipod photo, got problems

I used ipod wizard to load the UBH 1.2.2 (backgrounds) for 5th Generation into my 30g ipod photo & now I have a white screen on my ipod telling me to connect to my computer & use itunes to restore.
I'm looking at the properties for my ipod's drive in "my computer" & can see that my capacity is still 21g use & 6g free space so obviously my stuff is still on it but how do I get it back to normal without losing anything?
Is there a way to re-install the original firmware??? I really don't want to restore & lose everything.
I've updated itunes to the latest version & now itunes is telling me "Itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes.
    Any suggestions?

Your unit has a hardware issue that an Apple technician is not allowed to repair, nor do they have the parts to repair it (Apple doesn't stock parts for units of that generation).
You can check around at Apple stores and see if they get a part - sometimes people trade in old iPods and those units are parted out by Apple techs to fix older units - but that will be tougher to predict.
Your best bet is to take the unit to a cell-phone repair shop - a lot of those places will fix damaged iPods as well.
You probably have a broken hard drive that needs replacing. You can buy a replacement online, it's a Toshiba 30 GB slim-fit HDD, it can help you if you open your unit (very carefully) to see the exact name of the hard drive so you can order the replacement.
There are FAQ's online on how to replace the drive yourself, or you can take it to a cell-phone repaire place.

  • Questions about changing Firmware

Is this a good idea or can it wreck the phone also will it void my warrenty if i do it??

Judging by your question it is NOT a good idea, yes you can wreck your phone and you will void your warranty (however I think the guys at the nokia care center will put new firmware on it, but you'll have to pay for it). For what I've read, it can be done, but it doesn't sound like you're going to do it succesfully, or you wouldn't be asking this question here. Your phone is still in warranty, so you could just take it to a nokia care center and have the firmware updated if you want. That will not void your warranty and if something fails you'll get either a new firmware again, or if that fails too, I think they'll get you a new phone.

  • Changing firmware on STB

I have recently had a new STB as a result of changing over to the new Vision2 , (Oregan Media Browser?), platform. My old black STB, (Vision Classic / Windows CE), was working fine up to the changeover. Before boxing up the old STB and putting it away inthe loft - BT don't want it back - I tried forcing a software download in the hope that it would also get the new operating system. However it only succeeded in re-installing the WinCE version.
Is there a way to force a WinCE box to download the Linux based software? I would like to keep it as a spare - or even as a second box if multiroom ever becomes available.
    Paul

I just tried it and it fails. Apparently there is a model checksum or something that is verified before you can get too far. Too bad though because I have a ST and am switching to AT as a provider and would like to keep the landfil free from old hardware I can't use anymore.

  • Can't get past login screen and accidentally added a Firmware password?

Hi, please can you help me.
Up until about a week ago my Mac Mini Server (running snow leopard server) was working fine, but when I re-started my user name and password stopped working (the panel shakes).
I booted the computer from the Install DVD and changed the password. When I restarted this still didn't work. I booted again from the DVD and changed the password again, it came up with a warning about the password also needed to be changed elsewhere.
I had a look round the utilities on the DVD and saw the Change Firmware Password (I know now this was a massive mistake!), so I changed that and clicked add!
Now I cant boot from the DVD as all the Keyboard start-up commands don't work.
I have tried starting up, holding down Command-Option-O-F. This didn't work.
Checked to make sure the Keyboard is working.
I also tried removing all RAM and holding down Command-Option-P-R and waited for this to chime 3 times.
I cant find any thing else to try on the internet.
I think to solve my initial problem, I need to Boot from the DVD and change the ROOT password, somehow login as the ROOT account then change the passwords. Is this right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Regards Andy

If you can remember the firmware password you set:
Boot the computer with the install DVD in the drive (I'm assuming you have the external optical drive, based on your previous post) and hold down the OPTION key. You will see a screen with an input field. Enter your firmware password here, then press enter. The boot manager will load, showing you the internal HD as well as the DVD. Boot from the DVD, and go back into the firmware password utility. Enter the password in the old password field, and leave the new password fields blank. This will remove the firmware password.
If you *can not* remember the firmware password you set:
Open up the computer and remove only 1 of the 2 installed RAM sticks. Boot the computer holding COMMAND + OPTION + P +R and wait for 3 startup chimes. This will remove the firmware password.
Once you have removed the password and are booted to the DVD:
    See this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1274
You want the section labeled "Resetting the original administrator account password."

  • Nomad jukebox zen xtra firmware quest

    Hello all,
happy to be on the boards. I have a few questions I would like to ask:
) what product do I have? on the front it says "nomad jukebox zen xtra" with 40gb on the side. is it a "zen xtra" or a "nomad jukebox"? I was trying to find updated firmware, but found both "zen xtra" and "nomad jukebox" on the creative site.
    2) i've read horror stories of firmware 2..03. is there newer or firmware that works?
    3) is there a way to treat this player as a regular hard dri've? as in when I plug it into Windows/Linux (Debian linux), it will be recognized as a regular hard dri've without much trouble?
    Thanks all!

    Oo
    ps.
I didn't mean to take the hard dri've out and use it as a computer hard dri've. I meant: is there a way (maybe changing firmware?) to make the creative plug and play with windows without installing drivers?
An example: I want to go to a friend's house, plug my creative in, and copy a 5gb ISO off his computer. This is assuming he doesn't have the creative drivers.
I read that the 2..03 (or whatever the bad one is called) is supposed to allow this. Any solutions?

  • Zen V Plus: Software barrier against installing US firmware on european devic

Well well... After the "display darkening devil" caught me, I just decided to buy a new player because I need this thing frequently when I'm on the road. Now I've got a Zen V Plus but there is a DIFFERENCE. "Sure, the FM Radio!" True, but there is another one. I was able to use US Firmware (the one without the 'e' at the end) on my Zen V (without PLUS) when the display was still functional. But now I get "Upgrade Failed!" error - so am I right that the PLUS version checks for EU devices and denies installation of US firmware (NB: The US version lets you make the thing a bit louder, because it does not have to comply with brain-dead EU rules system.)

I have a ZVP, and you can change firmware between US/EU/Asia versions. There is no restriction.
In order to remove the EU volume restriction, you have to delete the existing EU firmware before upgrading, otherwise the (e) does not go away. I guess it is stored in a different part of flash which is only cleared when you delete the firmware, rather than just running the upgrade executable file.
    ***WARNING***
DO NOT delete your firmware unless you can successfully update the firmware without deleting. Try it first and make sure it works BEFORE you delete the firmware. Otherwise you could end up with a ZVP shaped paperweight...
For info on how to delete firmware see the 'Recovery Mode' sticky at the top of the forum.
