Changing From Field deletes email content - 2010

Our users usually send emails from a different email address
[email protected] rather than their normal email address.
In Outlook 2010 they have the From field showing and usually change this prior to composing their email. However if they forget to do this and they compose their email, then chane the From field the content (but no their default signature) disappears.
Any ideas? I'm a bit stumpted

A little late to the party, but I encountered this issue in Outlook 2010 recently and could not find a solution documented anywhere online.
It turned out in our case that the entire body of the email was being recognised as a signature, so any text entered in the body of the email was cleared when changing the "from" field.

Delete contacts from a deleted email account??? (sounds confusing I know)

This will require an explanation before I can get to my question so here I go. I have several email accounts that sync to my phone. I have now deleted one of my email accounts. The problem is that when I compose an email from any of the remaining email accounts still on my phone and start to type the name of the contact that I want to send the email to contacts from the deleted email account are still being displayed. I need to be able to remove the contacts from the deleted email account from my phone. These are contacts that are not part of my phone contacts. They are contacts that I have replied to from the deleted email account. If I have not clearly described my issue please let me know. Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.

There is a system-wide email address cache. The only way to clear that cache is to perform a Restore via iTunes, and set your phone up as new (the list is backed up), meaning you'd need to reload all your content, redo your settings, etc.

Shortcut for changing "from" field in Lion Mail?

I manage a number of email accounts from Mail, and frequently need to send messages from one account, and then another account, and then another account ... In Snow Leopard, I enjoyed creating shortcuts to change the "from" field of an outgoing message. For example, in the keyboard system preferences pane, I assigned the command "My Name <[email protected]>" the shortcut of "SHIFT+CMD+X". That way, while writing an email, if I noticed that it was about to send from the wrong account, I'd just hit the keystroke instead of grabbing my mouse. Mail apparently knew what I was doing, because on the drop-down tab for "From", each of my mail accounts also showed the custom assigned shortcut.
This ability seems blocked in Lion. Whenever I try to re-create these shortcuts in the preferences / application-shortcuts pane, they won't work! What's worse, whenever I quite and re-open System Preferences, I find that my shortcuts have been re-assigned an extra open-bracket, such as: ">My Name <[email protected]>".
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is it possible to re-create these shortcuts in Lion Mail?

Every other email program I've ever seen (including Entourage - see below) can do this. Why can't Apple? I don't want to touch the mouse most of the time because it really slows down work to move ones hands back and forth. I did a quick web search and found these shortcuts for all the major programs. If you know of any other program besides Apple Mail that doesn't have this, let me know.

Problem changing location of Deleted email

I've got my iPhone setup to use my imap server. Everything works well so far, have all the folders displayed, and things look good.
I can't seem to change the location of the Deleted Emails though. Whenever I go into advanced options, click "Deleted Mailbox" the setup crashes and goes back to the home screen.
I was able to change the location of Sent email, but now when I click that button it also crashes.
Is this a known issue with the iPhone? Or does anyone have a workaround?

I had a problem with the Mail app crashing whenever I'd try sending email from a Yahoo account. A reboot fixed it, so you might try that. Or you might try resetting your iPhone, though you'll need to reconfigure certain aspects of it.

How to stop mailbox from automatically deleting email in trash

I would like to be able to store deleted emails indefinitely until I empty the trash mailbox. Even though I check "never" in the mailbox behavior, it only keeps the messages for 30 days.

To add to what Glenn has said, note that I have done exactly what you want to do in Mail for some time without seeing messages older than 30 days get deleted. So I think you've got something else that's deleting those messages.
One other note: it's very easy to accidentally empty the trash and lose all those messages. So I would recommend cleaning out the trash periodically and moving those messages to some kind of archival mailbox(es). I keep a series of "On My Mac" mailboxes called "Trash 2012," "Trash 2011," "Trash 2010," etc, and I periodically move all messages from the trash into the appropriate mailbox.

Enable BCC & From Fields By Default - Office 2010

Hello,
I am trying to enable the BCC & From fields in outlook by default for users.
I have used Group Policy Preferences to create the registry keys as described in the below thread. The keys are showing up in the registry so I know the Group Policy is working, however the BCC & From fields in outlook are not being enabled.

Hi,
How did you set the registry? Just to clarify, to enable the BCC and From fields, we need to create two registry keys.
To enable BCC field:
Key name: ShowBcc
Key type: REG_DWORD
Key value:
1
To enable From field:
Key name: ShowFrom
Key type: REG_DWORD
Key value:
1
Please double check if the key value is set to 1.
In addition, we may need to restart Outlook to make the key work. Have you tried to restart Outlook to check the result?

Change FROM: field

I need to change the FROM: field of messages processed by our iMS5.2, making an access to LDAP.
I tried to use the REVERSE_URL option, but it changes all the addresses found in the message header.
Does anyone has any idea of how to do it using the conversion channel or some rewrite rule?

Getting really iritated with the lack of common 20 year old features for forms with the muse widgets or the simple ability to make changes. I just want to rename the input names of the form fields. How the heck does one do that in muse? The main thing you do when building forms is set the input names, duh. Although it's nice to be able to customize the states of a field, the display label, etc. the first thing as a developer for muse form widgets should be to allow options for input names so the forms make sense to the receipent and have options for dropdown (select menus), radio buttons, checkboxes, etc. These have been common web form elements since the dawn of the internet. It's 2014 guys not 1994!

How do you stop Mail App from recovering deleted emails

I use Mail app to manage multiple email boxes. Whenever I send a message, it will fail and ask me to send through another server. If it fails, it will infinitely ask this question. Also when I cancel it, it will infinitely recover and try to send the message. Even when I delete the mail box, it will bring it back. That email address is now unusable through the mail app because it shows the spinning wheel and tries to send/recover the one deleted message over and over.
I have read on this forum that if you delete the invisible folder below, it will get rid of the problem

Where is this folder? There is no folder in Library that is named "Mail". So I don't know what to do.

I did what you said but there is no file with "OfflineCache". I even used spotlight and it cannot find a file named or containing "OfflineCache". I saw the recovery folder and deleated the email in there. But when I start up Mail app, nothing has changed. I even deleted all the cashe on my system using CleanApp (hope this doesn't mess up anything) and nothing has changed. I can't even use Mail App until this is fixed.

Restoring changes from a deleted enhancement

Hi Experts,
I was making some changes in a standard WD ABAP component using an Enhancement implementation. After that I had deleted that Enhancement from the WD Component.
Now I would like to restore back that Enhancement in the WD Component so that the previously done changes gets applied on the component.
Please let me know it this is possible at all and if possible then how to implement this.
Another piece of information : I can see the deleted Enhancement under se19 in New BADI Enhancement Implementation.

I don’t know what you did, but if the account folder is still there, then either you didn’t delete the account, or you’ve set it up again.
Anyway, because of the differences between Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, if you’re using Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), as your profile indicates, further discussing your problem here might confuse other users with similar problems running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), so please start a new topic in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum. I or someone else will be able to better help you there.
At any rate, I encourage you to choose a more appropriate alias to post here. In order to name you at the beginning of my reply, I would have had to start it saying “What the...”, which would have been clearly inappropriate and confusing for other users. Actually, I would have ignored your post altogether just because of that if it wasn’t because your post was entirely correct (except for the fact that it was posted in the wrong forum).

Mail 8.0 deleted email content when using mail drop

Using Mail 8.0 on Yosemite 10.1 I just spent a very long time answering an email. I attached a PDF of 30 MB before sending and the window to say it would be sent via mail drop appeared. I clicked Yes.
Later I checked sent messages to see the email I wrote and make sure it all went through OK. However, in the email only a link to the mail dropped PDF was there, and all the text I wrote had disappeared.
Nothing in sent, or saved boxes. It's a Gmail account, so I checked sent messages from the web interface for Gmail and also there was just the link.
I did a test and sent another email with said attachement and some random text, and it came out ok, it even had a fancy download button rather than some super long link.
What is going on? can I get my email back? Please help!

I've had - and am having -- all kinds of problems with Mail 8.0. Is there an update yet to fix the many, many ISSUES with 8.0?
I am ready to ditch the program unless fixes are forthcoming.

For Firefox you would generally have Use system default if on your system , or choose a web based system such as GMmail

ICloud has my name incorrect in the "From" field of the Mail Compose window. How can I fix this?

When I'm using the iCloud website, when I try to compose an email, iCloud has my name incorrect in the "From" pop-up menu. I changed my last name some time ago, after my divorce, from "Seymour-Amper" back to "Seymour". My Apple ID, my iCloud Settings, and my iCloud Contacts all show my name as "Gemma Seymour", except in the "From" field in Email. There doesn't seem to be any place to change this. I was going to call iCloud Support, but I don't have cell service at home, and can only access the Internet from the public library, where I cannot use my phone. Can anyone help?

In iCloud Mail, try clicking the actions symbol in the left bottom corner and select Preferences. Next click 'Accounts' and select 'iCloud' (if not already selected) on the left. On the right you should see 'Label: iCloud' and below that 'Full Name: ....'. Here you should be able to change your name and next click 'Done' on the right bottom corner.

How to use alias in "From" field when I send a mail with utl_smtp ?

Hi all,
I'm using a PL/SQL package with an Oracle 11G database to send mails. It works fine but instead of use of my mail in "From" field like "[email protected]" as sender E-mail address, I would like to have "Toto" in the sender address. I tryied to use utl_smtp.mail(l_connection, '<toto> [email protected]') but it doesn't work. The only way I can send mail is when I set utl_smtp.mail(l_connection, '<[email protected]>') directly. When I use the Alias, I have an error from smtp server telling that I use a bad syntax address.
Does someone know how to use the alias ? Where do I do a mistake ?

I try to send HTML E-mail so I had the From in the from field writen in the header of the mail and not to initialize the connection.
