Changing FSB to 133mhz...

I'm sure many of you have heard of this problem before, but please bear with me as I would greatly appreciate everyone's help in solving this problem. It is becoming very frustrating at this point as I need my computer to be working.
I read in the above posted AMD FAQ that if it is not showing correct processor speed (In my case showing 1500+ instead of 2200+) to set the FSB to 133. I went about doing this and on reboot after saving BIOS i get no signal sent to my monitor. I know this is a common cause but I don't seem to understand what's wrong. Am I supposed to set the CPU clock ratio to 13.0 or Auto in the BIOS?
If anyone can think of what can be wrong and give me input I would really appreciate it. Thanks all for your help!

Srry Bas men engels is ni zo goe, dus neem me nix kwalijk.
Same prob with XP2200+ running @ XP1500+
PC crashes when FSB is @ 133Mhz, working fine @100Mhz
Also pc crashes when 2nd Win2K loading screen appears...

  • DKA790GX Platinum, have problem with changing FSB in Dual Core Center

    Hello guys, freshblood is here,
I change fsb in Dual core center, but unfort.  core temp and CPUZ don't reflect any changes.

I agree.  The BIOS gives you better control with better options.

Dumb MSI Dual Core Center.  It is not the best tool ever developed.  Use the BIOS for overclocking your system.

  • MSI x48 cant change FSB at all

    hi,
i would like to ask if anyone of you encountered problems with changing FSB on MSI x48 platinum, because I'm encountering very weird "bug", everytime i change FSB save and restart bios showing me its running on ie. 8x350 but when i boot to windows and check it in everest/vista/CPU-z/whatever its showing only 8x333 which is default, after some tries i found that if i set any value to FSB it will boot up and bios will shows what i set and in windows its still at 8x333, i tried even some insane values like 8x600 and even 8x800 without any change of voltage only DIMMs i have at 1.92, everytime its booting up with bios showing 8x600/8x800 but its obvious that running 8x800 without any change of voltage is unreal so ....are there any secret values in bios which can disable "overclocking" ? can i access them ? how ? can re-flashing bios v2.2 with v2.2 from web pages help ? if it causing bad HW, which one ? CPU ? MB ?
PS: my brother have exactly same setup as me, and he doesn't have this problem, only thing we made different is that i installed Vistas with ACPI S3 and he with S1
PS2: i have 30-35°C on CPU idle and 40-45° burn depending on ambient temperature
NB is something like 50 ?
PS3: my setup is in signature, just ask for more details if its not sufficient

just want to inform you that today bios flashing to version 2.3 solved my problem...i was finally able to overclock my PC :P

  • Board killed after changing FSB? K7N2G-ILSR

I have a K7N2G-LISR. After I changed the FSB which was at 100MHz by default, the D-Bracket showed that the CPU was damaged. I cleared the CMOS and than it showed damaged memory. I tryed the RAM and the CPU with another PC and both were OK.
    Any suggestions?

Josh, please try and use more punctuation. Your posts are very hard to read.
Anyway, i don't know for sure, but i think your CPU supports clock throttling. This is a mechanism that slows down the CPU if it gets to hot. You will notice it, it's quite a steep change in clockspeed.
Intel has very clear spec sheets on every single piece of hardware they aver made, you should be able to find the max temprature in those. Personally i keep a temprature of 55-60 degrees Celsius as an absolute maximum.

  • KT3 Ultra2-R ... Can't change FSB beyond 100

    Dear all,
Just got my KT3 Ultra2-R with an Athlon XP2100, upgraded to 5.7 AMI BIOS, worked great, then made some changes to CMOS (forgot which ones), then couldn't boot.
When I finally booted and went to CMOS setup, it would not let me change the FSB to anything other than 100...that is, no options on the FSB when I hit enter (shrug).
Now, my system recognizes the CPU as an AMD XP 1500...blah. Tried everything...resetting CMOS with jumper, took out computer battery, replace 350 SmartBlue PSU with 400 Watt PSU, replaced Heatsink/cooler with better one, wiped contacts, nothing...it's not the temps, because my case idles at 29C chassis and 36C CPU temps.  Even reflashed back to BIOS version 5.6, and still no go.
When I do "performance" settings in CMOS, it will give me 133 FSB, but my system will now be unstable. Weird thing was, before this "event", performance setting put it at 166 FSB :(
Anyway, my comp isn't dead....it just won't let me change the FSB.  I called up ABS Computers where I bought this, and they said they are not responsible for damage caused from flashing BIOS...blah, whatever.
I just put out an order for an Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard and joined the NForce2 bandwagon, but if someone could give me some insight into what I could do about my motherboard, besides hang it on my wall, I'd certainly appreciate it.
Here are specs of my system:
    MSI Kt3 Ultra2-R
    Athlon XP2100
    Geforce2 video card
    soundblaster 5.1 Live
WD 120 Gig and WD 60 Gig
    Liteon CRWD
    Sony DRU-500AX
    Q-Tech Quiet PSU 400 Watts
    Nexus Heatsink/Fan
    Windows XP Home

Thanks for the reply, but while checking out the other problem with the KT4V / Athlon 2400 Clock Speed Problem (above) who couldn't set his FSB beyond 100, but when he set it the multiplier to 12.5/13, he gets a 20X multiplier when he goes into Fuzzy Logic.
Well, guess what, I did the same thing (set my CPU multiplier in BIOS to 12.5/13, and lo and behold, I go into fuzzy logic, and my AMD XP 2100 is recognized as an AMD XP2600 running at 2000 megahertz...now someone explain that to me! I even check with SiSandra, and yup, it's seeing a 2000 megahertz processor. I even ran the benchmark tests on SiSandra, and it's on par with that processor.
However, my FSB is only 100, and thus, my memory benchmarks are about 25% below the norm for my DDR333 RAM chips (i guess because they are synchronized with the FSB, and probably running at 200 then).
Anyhoo, i'm tired of trouble shooting and figuring out what the hell is going on.  The comp is extremely stable at 2000 megahertz at 100 FSB...don't know what else to do...so installing new motherboard tomorrow and report back later.

  • Fuzzy Logic 4/Core Center - Changing FSB & Multiplier Settings

Just wondering if its at all possible to change the Multiplier settings or the FSB on the fly (in windows) - without having to restart and go into the bios to change them. I know that gigabyte has that feature for some of their boards.
The board in question is the K7N2-Delta ILSR
Is there a setting in the bios that needs to be enabled?
Thanks for the help if anyone knows.

  • Can't change FSB or anything

I have been trying to oc my 2200 to get the most out of it that I can.  I tried the wire trick a while back but I ended up bending a pin which I fixed.  After that I never oc'ed my cpu.  I tried the other day just to raise my FSB but had no luck.
For some reason when I raise the FSB nothing happens to the cpu.  I had the FSB at 290 but the cpu was still 1800mhz in bios, core center, and windows.  Im pretty sure you can raise the FSB without unlocking the cpu.  I thought I had before.  Now I cant for some reason, and I dont know why.
What am I doing wrong?  How come the FSB wont go up and change my cpu clock?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the tip. I changed the fsb/ddr ration to 1:1 as you suggested and upped the fsb to 140 last night (multiplier set at 7 in the bios) with Vcore left at standard.  WCPUID showed a clock speed of 2100 with a multiplier of 15. The cpu temp is now around 48c, and system seems to be stable.
I will try upping it a bit more tonight, but a jump of 300 Mhz over the standard clock speed seems pretty good to me.
The only thing that is bugging me is that I can't up the multiplier from 7 in the bios, even if I go at 7.5 with a fsb of 133 the system won't boot, even when I up the Vcore to 1.8v. Also 7 is the lowest I can go (I get options from 7 to 13.5).  If you know why this might be (do I need to unlock the cpu?) or have any other tips for oc'ing this system I'd be grateful.

  • Help change FSB to 133

I have an sis 745 ultra board and also have an 2600xp amd and in windows and bios it reads 1900+. I have already flashed the bios to 1.6 and it still does not read correctly.
HOw can I change my fsb from 100 to 133??? is there a jumper on the mobo??

well it is the 266 version of the 2600+ not the 333. also when I try to change the fsb from 100 to 133 what key do I press?? enter wont allow changes. hmm not quite sure how to change it. I know this sounds like a stupid question but I am not at my computer at the moment.

  • Cannot change FSB

I am using a MSI kt-4 VL motherboard with 8x AGP and an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ CPU. For some reason, my BIOS now sets my FSB to 100 mhz, and any attempt to adjust it through Fuzzy Logic cases my PC to instantly crash out and reboot. If I attempt to change the FSB through the BIOS manually, my PC will not reboot at all, and to even get it to work again I have clear my CMOS. This is giving me a pretty big performance hit, taking my processor down from 1733 mhz to 1333 mhz speed. Do I need a new mainboard? Is there any way that I can try to diagnose the issue?
EDIT: Looks like I put this in the wrong forum 8o

Thanks for the tips. This was a factory built system, and up until a few weeks ago everything registered accurately. Whenever I try to reset the FSB through the BIOS manually, when I reboot the system gets unstable around 110 mhz, and if I set it directly to 133 it simply will not boot, requiring me to clear my CMOS to restore the defaults. As for my settings, I have it at a multiplier of 13.5 and my DRAM timings are indeed set to auto. Is it possible that my mobo is damaged? I noticed the problem at about the same time that I was stricken with some hard drive difficulties. I'm a bit too much of a casual user to know if the two could be related, but I have been pondering just replacing my mobo and HD altogether.

  • K7T266 Pro with Award Bios (Change FSB)

    Hi,
I've got an old motherboard and i would put on it an athlon 1400 processor.
I have installed it correctly on the motherboard but the fsb is equal to 100 mhz.
I would set it to 133 mhz because the processor runs at 1050 mhz... (10,5 * 100)
With the Ami Bios, it's easy to change the fsb but with Award Bios, i don't know how change it ...
I have verified the bios version with MSI Live Update and i have got the latest version ...
How can i do to change the fsb on my motherboard ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

  • P6NGM and MSI Dual Core Center - can't change FSB

I'm running Vista Business 32.  Just installed a P6NGM with a E6750 and updated all the MSI utilities to current version - but I can't change the FSB anywhere. I can't click the "D.O.T." button on the main menu, and there are no arrows near it. In the advanced screen, the FSB +/- buttons are grayed out.   How do I enable its FSB overclocking?

Are you using the latest Version of DCC?
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=utility&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1330
I downloaded and installed this version -- but, as the tool does not appear to have an "About" box that gives its version, I can't really confirm that it is indeed the latest one.

  • A question about an error after changing FSB

Here is what I am running
    MSI K7T266 Pro
    AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4ghz processor
    512 DDR RAM
    Geforce 3 Ti 500
Intel 21041-Based PCI Ethernet Adapter (Generic) #2
Now I loaded my FSB at 100 and it runs fine but only at 1.050 ghz instead of 1.4.
I try running at 133 FSB and it runs at 1.4 till I try to install anything and it crashes my computer and corrupts my HDD and gives me a 'serious error' message of:
    BCCode : d1     BCP1 : FFFFFFA3     BCP2 : 00000010     BCP3 : 00000001
    BCP4 : F81EB965     OSVer : 5_1_2600     SP : 0_0     Product : 768_1
Now I want to know what this means?
I cleared my CMOS and now I only got the error message once when I tried to install the drivers for my sound card.  and I can install DOOM 3 now without getting the reboot and 'serious error' message.

The latest memtest86 installer/extractor creates its own boot diskette (with its own boot files).  Just boot with the diskette, memtest86 does its thing, no user interaction required.
Alternatively, an .ISO image is now available that is suitable for creating a self-booting memtest86 CD.

  • Can't set fsb to 133mhz

I'm using a k7t turbo(ms 6330 ver.3) motherboard and i have no idea how to set fsb to 133.  In the manual it shows a jumper called j17, but on my board there is no such jumper.  I tried setting the clock rate through the bios, but the highest i can get is 132mhz.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go in the BIOS to the Hardware Monitor Setup page.  There are two entries that have to do with the FSB.  The first one is CPU FSB CLK.  You can only set this to 100 or 133.  The next is CPU FSB Overclocking.  This one adjust the FSB one at the time.  For running at 133 FSB use the first and check if the system is stable.  then if you must, overclock (or underclock).

  • Changed FSB speed - PC won't start

    Hello all,
I've got a K7N2 Delta with a AMD XP 2700+. I've had it for over a month and it's worked great but I started tinkering with the FSB speed and bumped it up from 133 to 200mhz and then set the other "advanced CMOS" settings on "high performance"
Now, when I start the PC I hear the power run through all devices but get no display and the D bracket shows the "processor damaged or not installed warning" - top 2 LED's are red.
I've unplugged/reset the processor but what else can I do to reset the BIOS? I cannot get to anything on the computer the display is blank from startup. I get no responce from CTRL+HOME either.
PLease please please advise! I'm at rek410 - at - hotmail too.

    Great
    Thnx
