Changing Genre on whole groups of songs

I want to change the Genre for a large part of my music collection. Is there a way to do it for lots of songs at one time? Or am I just stuck with changing each song individually?

Sort your songs into order, say by artist. Click on the first song to highlight it. Holding down the shift key, click on the last song to highlight the whole selection. Right click and choose Get Info , you'll get a dialog box asking if you are sure you want to update information for multiple items, choose Yes. In the Info tab update the genre and click ok and the whole selection will be done.

If you select all the songs you want to change, Be it one song or an akbum, or an Artist, Or Genre, or playlist. Then Right mouse click and Get Info. You then get a slightly different from normal Get Info box as this is the One for Multiple items.
In there have a look at the tags and see if the one you want to changes is in there. There are a few tabs so if for example you wanted to change the Media Type from Home Movie to Movie go to the Options tab and select Movie and OK and it will change the whole selection.

Grouping single songs under one artist

Hi,
I've been busting my brain; how do you group single songs to appear all under ONE artist? Is there a way to do this without changing the artist field? Has it something to do with compilations/sorting category?
Note, this is for playback on the iPhone but hope this is the right category as you have to do this in iTunes!

There still doesn't seem to be a way to plan all these songs from the ARTISTS menu by selecting say, 'various artist' or miscellaneous.
The only way i can think is rename every artist field to 'various artists' but you loose the artist name this way.

Nope, the artists menu is just that, a list of artists. If we had an *Album Artists* menu then you could find such collections under say "Various Artists" if you grouped them together with an Album name. Even though we don't get an *Album Artist menu* if you do go to the trouble of creating an album name for this collection then you can just choose it from the Album menu. If you happen to be browsing the artists and notice the Beatles entry you can drill down into it, then the album for this collection then having selected a track, turn your iPhone into landscape mode and reselect the album so that all tracks play. Otherwise playlists may be a better bet, and at least you can then leave these tracks with their original album art and other details.

Itunes changes genre information on its own

Often I find that when I begin playing a song, iTunes will change (or have changed prior to launch) the information that I have already stored for that song. i.e., if I double click a song to play it, iTunes will change the genre to something else on its own, and then I have to go and change it again to what I wanted it to be. Is there a way to turn this off, or prevent it from happening? It's really causing me headaches.

I literally just noticed this. Played a song out of music and was like "***!" as I watched it immediately change the genre. Opened info and changed it back. Dbl-clicked to play it and watch it change AGAIN.
One artist, with 9 albums, all bought in iTMS. ALL exhibit the same behavior. Just bought their latest album VIA AMAZON, did everything I usually do after buying an album - select full album, open info and change everything to what my smart playlists expect. Closed. NONE of the songs change genre on play.
So, this issue only appears to be w/ songs purchased from the iTMS. I did seem to figure out how to stop this at least. Instead of changing the genre in the info dialog, change it FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL SONG in the music list by editing the genre cell for that song. ROYAL PITA but it seems to stick at least for now.
Since I usually buy an album, edit for smart playlists and then listen via playlists, I can only imagine HOW MANY OF MY SONGS I'VE GONE TO THE EFFORT TO TAG THAT HAVE BEEN CHANGED WITHOUT MY KNOWING. WHAT IS THIS!?!?! WINDOWS?!?!? IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO THAT, DON'T LET US WASTE OUR TIME EDITING FIELDS!!!!
So. Anyway. Hope that helps you out Bri Guy. I now have to track down all songs from the last 5 years apparently and manually fix each one by hand.
Needless to say I will NEVER buy any music from the iTMS again.

Some people have reported issue with metadata but I personally have had few problems with metadata changes. I have not had any data arbitrarily changed apart from a few issue with purchased tracks where initially so es changes did not stick but eventually did.

I have a requirement of "PO Change according to material group and G/L Account no.". I am using BAPI_PO_CHANGE.
But it is giving error.

Even i am trying to debug standard tocde of PO but it is not calling bapi BAPI_PO_CHANGE.

Hello,
To assign material group to G/l account you have to matain valuation class for Material group
SPRO >> Materials Managment >> Purchasing >> Material Master >> Entry aids for items with out material master.
Assign this valaution class to G/l in OBYC.

Change in Account Assignment group in Open Sales orders

Dear All
In SAP 4.7 there are 100 nos of Sale order item having Account Assignment Group .
I need to change the account assigment group field from open sale orders, but the field is grey.
Is it possible to change the subject field.? Please help

If I am correct, even in creation mode, this field (Account Assignment Group) will be in grey mode and cannot be maintained manually in sale order.
Whatever you maintain in material master, that only will flow. Due to some reasons, if the same is not flowing in sale order and you want to rectify this, if you ask me, the only option is close those line items, maintain the account assignment group in material master, create LSMW for VA02 and include as new line items.

We had an employee that purchased a boatload of music with company funds - he has been terminated and we have the account ID and password. Is there a way to change the ID acct name? It is an e-mail address with his name and we would like to not be continually reminded of his tenure with us.

I'm not a lawyer but one suggestion is to sue him for the amount of the songs and he gets the songs.
Otherwise, just delete them.

If you mean that you've forgotten them, then if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page should let you reset them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

I downloaded a group of songs from a single artist into my iTunes on my PC and created a playlist, but when I sync with my iPod, they sinc as single songs. How do I group them so that they are in a single folder and sync'd that way?

Generally, in iTunes, all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist to keep things together. For older iPods each track from the same album should have the same artist, or be marked as a compilation where appropriate. You can click on the songs individually while you are holding down the Command.
Or
If you hold down Shift and click on the first one, and while continuing to hold Shift you click on the last one. Everything in between will be highlighted.

BAPI or FM to change the PO release group

I could not find the way to change this field through BAPI BAPI_PO_CHANGE.

It seems ME_REL_STRATEGIE_EKKO is used for creating a new PO.
I want to change the PO release group for a specific PO only.
And the BAPI BAPI_PO_RELEASE seems to change the Release Code, not Release Group!!!

Can you be more explicit: what exactly is the value of the update allowed property of the group?
Did you specify any update allowed expressions on the individual items?
