Changing heading in Settings "About" screen

On my Ipod Nano, under "Settings", on the "About" screen, the heading comes up as "user's Ipod". I want to change this to my name, but don't know where to go about doing so. Does it have something to do with the way I registered?
Thanks for any help

Hi springahh,
First off, try restoring your iPod. For instructions on how to restore an iPod, see this Knowledge Base article:
Restoring iPod to factory settings
If restoring doesn't seem to help, then let's try reformatting your iPod to FAT32, followed by a restore in iTunes:
1 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
2 - When iTunes has finished syncing with your iPod, open "My Computer".
3 - Right-click on your iPod, and click on "Format". (If your iPod is not showing in My Computer, make sure that disk use is enabled in iTunes).
4 - Here, verify that your formatting settings are "Default", with the format type set for FAT32. Also, make sure that "Quick Scan" is not selected.
5 - Then, click on "OK" to begin the formatting process.
6 - When this is complete (it might take a while), make sure to restore your iPod in iTunes again, so as to properly reload the firmware back onto it again.
Any success?

New versions of Flash have a panel installed on your system for control of settings.
In Windows XP, Windows Start > Settings > Control Panel > Flash Player, click on each tab and change the "Ask..." setting. Most likely your prompts are coming from the "Storage" tab. Using any of the "Block..." settings may make Flash inoperative on some sites.

I have reached the same conclusion in the mean time. I have done a bit of investgation in to other grahics cards and am seeing some that show SPDIF connections from the card to the mother board. I was not familar with SPDIF but it did a little bit of sluething. It is of course a digitally enconded voice. I am guessing that in that case the mother board ( assuming it supports this hardware option) would use this output and be able to translate that digital audio to its other audio outputs. That is a lot of guessing of course. I think my "solution" might  be a whole new desktop - a rather drastic course of action! I was in the proceess of getting ready to upgrade this machine anyway with a new graphics card (which I will now return), go to Win 7, and maybe even a new digital TV reciever,  and I don't want to throw good money after bad anyway.

  • Would love to be able to change the Standby settings.

I would love to be able to change the Standby settings on my itouch. Particularly when I have my itouch plugged into a charging unit or computer. I would like the standby to not turn off my itouch screen when it has external power. Is there a way to do this?

Well, hopefully a developer can help and update the device to allow us to do just that. Perhaps one can tell us if they might consider working on just such an option. I mean seriously, if it's plugged in I want an option as to whether the screen should go off or not on me. I don't think it's an unreasonable request and it's probably not that hard to implement. I'm not a developer however, so how should I know.
Sorry for not referring to the device correctly (Julian), but I don't really care what it's called. I just want it to work better. I did however refer to it closely enough that you knew what I was talking about.
I can't be the only one that would like it to do what I asked.

  • Change printer color settings???

    Hello,
How do I change the settings in tiger (and 10.3.9) to print in color only when i tell it to? My printer is an HP photosmart 7760 with appropriate drivers installed. I just dont really know how to do this.......
    Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about the Savin printer, but there is a way to change your printer settings from black and white to color - presuming the printer driver isn't at fault.
Starting from Safari (the easiest way to access your printer's settings), press Command-P, which brings up the printing options. Under "Quality and Media," a pulldown menu on the right middle part of the screen, and look for the box that says "Grayscale Printing" - uncheck that. Under "Media Type," use "Plain Paper." You should be able to print using these settings.
If the driver is at fault, which I suspect may be the case, make sure your've updated to the latest drivers, which are for Snow Leopard. I'm uncertain if they have drivers for Lion.
    Post here with your results!

  • Why does it show 54 photos on my About screen, when I have only 9 photos on my iPad mini?

    Hello,
I have an iPad mini 2 (16GB White Wi-Fi) that I got for Christmas of 2013, and absolutely love it. I have had no problems so far. However, there is one thing that annoys me a little.
On my iPad, I have 9 photos that I took with the camera. On the About screen, it says I have 54 photos, and I have no idea why! I've disabled iCloud photo sharing, but I still have no idea why this is happening.
Does anybody know how to fix this? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Do those 'extra' movies have a little cloud symbol? That means that you have access to the movie but it's stored in the cloud until you download it.
You can go into settings, scroll down to video and then change the setting 'show all videos', if it's showing all of them it shows what's on the device and available in the cloud. If it's not, then all you see is what's actually on your device.

  • Change DNS server settings

Hi All, When I log into my router I can not find on any of the tabs where to change my DNS sever any ideas?                                                          Thanks Debbie

Just came across this when looking for a way to change the server settings as I use my Sky Router as a backup measure (i.e. it's set up, ready to go, but for the moment, just serves the internet over one of the Ethernet ports via a better router and wireless network in my house). Anyway, as there doesn't seem to be a way to sort the DNS settings on the router itself, I would suggest the following to those who are looking to use OpenDNS (which is why I'm looking to do it). Disable the Wireless network on your Sky Box and plug in a cable DSL router (i.e. a router that doesn't have ADSL on it, but has an ethernet internet port for connecting to a router - or one that has that ability (some have multiple options to allow for failsafe - but anyway)).  Google "wireless cable DSL router" and look in the shopping section for an idea of them. Setup the new router as per the manufacturers instructions and connect the new router to the Sky Box by the ethernet port.  Now, assuming you've turned off the Wireless on the Sky Router (found under setup on the Sky router interface (192.168.0.1 from your computer normally unless you've changed it)) when you connect up the new router, this should be the only thing that is supplying internet into your home and you should be able to change the DNS settings on the router (make sure of this before you buy it just in case, but most of them you can do) and that way anything that is passed through the new router, even when it heads out on the Sky connection will use the new DNS settings. Ok, so it's a bit of a hassle and might cost you £20-£30, but if it's to use OpenDNS or such services for the protection of your family when browsing online, it's money well spent IMHO. Of course, if Sky had any nouce about them, they would simply give an option to use either their own DNS servers or the OpenDNS servers, even if they don't allow full customisation of them, especially with all the recent news about eSafety for people at home.  It would just make a lot of sense as far as I see. There are some routers out there now which fully intergrate with the OpenDNS service (Google OpenDNS Router to find some examples - a lot of NetGear ones now do - just makes it easier if you're a bit green on the techy front, though OpenDNS offer a lot of assistance and walk throughs on their own site too.

I use Dreamweaver and Adobe Bridge to create slide shows on my website. You can set the pref dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs to to -1 on the about:config page to disable the timeout.

  • Is there a way to change the PSI settings of scanned papers w/o losing information?

Hello - We have gotten a Kodak scanner and a program that it came with to scan old files (real files, not computer files) for storage, so we could free up some space. We've just started using this, but I have a question about the PDF files that we're left with.
To begin with, the scanner is set at 600psi, hoefully we can change that, and the Kodak program that it came with. I think the program reads the text in the scans to save as memory. When they're finished, we can look up a name, word, date, location.... to search for and it automatically will give us a list of the locations.
Here's question number one, if we change the PSI settings to 150psi or 72psi, will it still get that info, or does it have to stay at 600psi for the text info?
Second, we now have the scans that we scanned at 600psi, but the files are huge!!!  2000 pages = 400MB - Is there a way to lower the PSI and still have the data of the pages stay in the files? It is very hard to work with a 400MB file with 2000 pages without my Acrobat freezing up, and yes, it is a full Acrobat 8 program and not just a reader. I know in Photoshop/Illustrator, I can change the psi and the file size shrinks, but it also changes the options of printing it later on.
Just trying to find out some other info before we go any further.
Thanks for any help, I know I'm going to be asked what model scanner and Kodak program we're using, but I currently don't have that info. Just wondering about the information being erased if the PSI file is downsized.
    Sean

I would keep it at the 600 absolutely no less than 300. The higher the DPI the more likely the accuracy of the conversion is. You end up with too many artifacts that can't be converted when you go below 300.
You and always optimize the PDF after the conversion.

  • To make sure I am up to date. I go Settings, About and see Version 4.3.3 (8J2) on iPad touch 4th gen. model! Does it mean I have loaded the latest version of software? Where in settings I can find out if iPad got (Windows 7) v11.1.4? What is (8J2)?  Help!

    Is it true?
If it says settings general about Version 4.3.3 (8J2). I have intalled the latest vertion for iPad touch 4th generation model?  Where I can check if the iPad touch 4th generation has got iTunes (Windows 7) v11.1.4?  I think it is the latest vertion.
When I connect ipod touch 4th generation to Mac using usb I get a message that new software vertion (6.1.5) is available for iPod! If I update it, I lose apps and data, but when I check general settings about version for iPod not iPad 4th generation I see version 4.3.5 (8L1).  Probably if I update it to the latest version it would say 6.1.5 (8L1). But what (8L1) for iPod mean? And what (8J2) for iPad touch 4th generation mean?

An iPod touch, 4th generation can be updated to version 6.     An iPad 4th generation can be updated to iOS 7.0.4, which is the most current iOS.
In both cases, you MUST, MUST, do a BACKUP of all data before you update!!
You will probably have to restore from backup after update if you do have version 4.3.3 on a device.  This device will need to be connected to a computer running iTunes version 11.1.4
    Please!
    Read all screens carefully!!
    Read all pop ups carefully!
iOS 7 encourages a passcode lock, you have to say "NO" - TWICE... If you don't use a passcode lock.

  • Where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project?

where can I change the font settings for the name of the month in iPhoto's calendar project?  I just ordered two copies of a calendar I designed in iPhoto and was surprised to find that the calendar's months were printing in something like an Arial 10 pt font.  On previous calendars I've printer via iPhoto and Apple, the font was much larger.  I've tried every menu option in iPhoto and the Calendar Project program and can't find where this is modifyable. Which leads me to ask, what the heck happened here in the first place?  I did not consciously change the default.
I do remember that I got some notice when I first tried to print the calendar about the default font having been changed, but I don't know how this could have happened, and I didn't know what impact that had on the calendar until it was delivered.  I typically print about a dozen annual calendars but won't buy another until I've got a handle on this problem.  For the most part, the rest of the calendar is okay.
As a P.S. is there anywhere where one can get a power user's manual, or instruction on iPhoto?

"Maximum" and "12" usually refer to compression (influencing image quality and jpeg file size in bytes); and as Curt wrote, dpi is meaningless for display by and viewing in web browsers.  (It could be a different matter if you are uploading the jpeg files for someone to download from the web to print.)
What are the sequence of steps that you and your batch processing take from Bridge?
You can use call Photoshop's Image Processor from Bridge to create the jpeg files  (Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor).  In the Image Processor you can set jpeg compression, pixel dimensions if desired, also convert to sRGB (good idea for web display).  In my experience the image processor leaves unchanged whatever dpi is set in the source file; or, if none there as might be for a pdf, it will set the dpi value in your New Document Preset Print Resolution (from your Photoshop Units & Rulers preferences).

How do I change the DNS settings to Business Catalyst but keep the MX settings for emails?
I'm basically created anew site using Muse and want to host it on BC and upgraded to the Web basics + to allow for hosting of downloadable pdf's etc.

    Hi,
You shouldn't need to do anything as long as you do not state hosting email with BC.  Just ensure to check you DNS in a lookup tool that it's still referencing your external email service.
Otherwise you can set up external email set-up if the option is present.
