Hi,
Your machine should have micophone and haedphone port combo:
  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c04372331
You can use that same port for both headphones and microphone.  It is designed to use headset (for chatting) such as:

The aim of this thread is to verify and list compatible Splitter for W520 combo Headphone/ Microphone Port
The specs of the splitter are as follows: (Kindly verify if correct)

so it is possible that W520 is compatible if the other Lenovo have the same combo port

It was mentioned that they have  "Premium shield coax a/v cable for EMI/RFI interference...DC blocking protection ... microphone impedance matching"

    Hi all
To be frank, some of the multimedia laptops, with SRS Premium Sound, etc. are having the same speakers as W510 / W520 and is very loud (AFAIK, Dell Inspiron N5110 have the same speakers as W520 and the placement is just below the palmrest like surround sound). Theoretically, it makes the sound less focus and soft, but it works well with that laptop.
The Mic and Speakers are powered by the amp / drivers. The hardware in fact is very good, the only problem with it is the driver / software not well written. Good Hardware + Bad Software = Bad Product.
If you want a better sound / mic, you could try my Dolby Home Theater v4 solutions, hopefully it could meet more than your expectations and solve your problems without any cost. In fact, Dolby GUI is more customizable than Conexant. Most of us would not think it's more complicated, as techies would prefers more options to have fun.
    1. I don't even need a external mic, an internal mic does the job with this fix.

    2. Dolby makes the sound much better and louder with correct settings. If not, my post are not able to stay active till now, reaching 100+ posts.

    Installation steps:
Simplifications of installing and optimizing Dolby Home Theater v4 threads. Message 77 and 78 + Attachment.
    3. Get a USB solution only if you need multichannel audio, stereo / wave mix or studio grade quality, if you are just using for entertainment, etc. W520 with Dolby Home Theater v4 should be more than sufficient.
    Cheers

Instead of a plain "no," I'll suggest you look at the Griffin iMic. Many users, even before the Mac mini came along, have found it works very well.

Do you see a red light in the headphone jack?? If you do, then the microswitch is stuck and you need to turn it off. Try poking it with a toothpick.
If you don't see a red light, then try resetting the SMC and PRAM and see if these helps. Here are the links.

  • Changing the multicast Address and Port giving error

I am using Coherence 3.3.1 jar files (Coherence.jar and tangosol.jar) in my local application. But when I try to change the multicast Address and Port in tangosole-coherence.xml(in Coherence.jar) then it is giving this error -
"This member could not join the cluster because of an incompatibility between the cluster protocol used by this member and the one being used by the rest of the cluster. This is most likely caused by a Coherence version mismatch, or by mismatched protocol filters (e.g. compression, or encryption)"
If i am using unique IP and Port then how can it be in a Cluster as this error stating. Please reply ASAP.

    Hi,
There is a good chance that there is already the IP and port is being used by another cluster (which uses different versions of jars or configurations) and hence, when you are starting your cluster, throwing the error.
Can you double check if another cluster is already using it or not ?
    Thanks,
    Amit

Assign "Log on as a service" to the service account on this computer. You can use Local Security Settings (Secpol.msc) to do this.

check with your domain administrator to find out if a Group Policy object associated with this node might be removing the right.

  • Microphone port doesnt work on SBL

The microphone works, but not in the microphone port. I have to use it in the line in port. But I dont want to do this because I have another device I'd like to use that port with. Any suggestions?
Oh btw, i did turn off the onboard audio in bios.

Unmuting the port, and it doesnt work. What is strange is, though even im using the line in port, i have the microphone line unmuted. If I unmute the line in port, the mic wont work. Seems strange. No I havent had a chance to try it in another computer yet, I just bought it like three weeks ago.

  • Microphone Port Tech Questi

I am an engineer, and am using the Audigy 2 zs card. I have a question concerning the microphone port.
Actually, I need an engineer or technician to answer if possible.
Why do I see 5 volts on one mic channel and .8 on the other?
Are both channels supposed to be the same?
What are nominal input voltage values?
How do I aquire technical information (along these lines)?

I found some good info at the Shure site:
    http://www.shure.com/support/technot...ecomputer.html
    Input Type: Unbalanced Low Impedance
    Input Sensitivity: Approx. -20dBV (00mV or 0.Volt)
Input Impedance: 600 to 500 (Ohms)
Input Connector: 3.5mm Miniplug (Stereo Jack)
Input Wiring: Audio on Tip, Ground on Sleeve, 5Volts DC Bias on Ring </LI>

  • Microphone port issues

My new 3000H210 desktop has a problem with the microphone jack or maybe the sound board??? First the mike works ok , then the volumn goes away, and then sometimes the sound is totally gone.
I've tried several different mikes and I've confirmed the mikes are fine when plugged into another computer. I've reinstalled the Lenovo drivers, but still have this issue.  The other system sounds and audio work great, This seems to be just a microphone port problem.??
    Thanks for your input.. Pops

Thanks very much for your input!!
I did try adjusting all the settings, everything from setting to zero to max..same thing...voice records great, music is distorted with low volumn.
I then decided to download the free music editing software, Audacity, and try recording with it. This was the answer for whatever reason.
My music now records clear and with great volumn.
This is a good, free program and very easy to use for anyone interested in stuff like this.

  • How to revert p4 port and telnet port from 50204 to default?

    Hi,
i changed the p4 port and telenet port to 50204 using Visual Administrator. Now Visual Administrator and the J2EE server are both down. Is there some way I could revert back my ports to the default ports?
Also, my J2EE dispatcher process is down with an exit code of -11113. Could someone let me know how to change the port settings for telnet and p4 please?

    Hi,
You can do this through "ConfigTool". It is a offline tool and comes handy when JAVA system is down. It requires only database up.
Start configtool.ba from the directory "<Drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>/JC01\j2ee\configtool.
Then select the node Cluster Data->Instance_<No.>->Dispatcher_ID<No.>->
    1). P4->Local Properties
In the port you have to mention 5<instance no.>04
if you instance number is 01 then it should be 50104
    2). telnet->Local Properties
in the port you have to mention 5<instance no.>08
if your instance number is 01 then you have to mention 50108.
Then try to restart the JAVA system.
    Best regards,

  • Port Forwarding with Port Translation RV042, RV016, RV082

This is a feature request for the Linksys RV series Routers.  Currently, it appears that the Cisco/Linksys RV042, RV082, and RV016 only support port forwarding and 1-to-1 Nat.  One item that I find very helpful with customers is port forwarding with port translation.  I am requesting that this feature be included with a future firmware relase for these RV series routers.
Here is an example of the request.
Take an incoming service request on a TCP or UDP destination port and forward it to an internal IP on a different TCP or UDP port.  For example, customer A wants to allow different machines on the internal network to receive Windows RDP connections inbound.  To make PC maintenance identical between the internal machines, the customer does not want to change the listening port for RDP on the individual PC workstations through the Windows Registry.  The customer also does not want to dedicate separate IP's to each machine in a 1-to-1 NAT setup.  The only option is to have remote connections to each of these PC's to use a different destination port.  So, for example, PC one could be reached on TCP port 5151, PC two on TCP port 5152, and PC three on port 5153.  This requres a firewall that is able to translate each of these connection requests to a different internal IP on the default RDP port (TCP 3389).  So, the following setup is required:
    Port Forwarding with Port Translation:
Router External IP on TCP port 5151 ---> forwarded to PC One's internal IP on TCP 3389
Router External IP on TCP port 5152 ---> forwarded to PC Two's internal IP on TCP 3389
Router External IP on TCP port 5153 ---> forwarded to PC Three's internal IP on TCP 3389
There are several comparable "small business" class router competitors to the RV042, RV082, and RV016 that will perform this port forwarding with port translation process without incident.  Unfortunately, these Cisco/Linksys small business routers will not accomplish this task currently.
Please implement this feature in a future firmware release.
    Thanks!

Excellent.  I see this now.  None of our customers actually use the UPNP feature, so we never realized that Port Forwarding with Port Translation features existed on this page along with the ability to enable or disable UPNP.
Perhaps, in the future, this functionality could be moved to and incorporated into the port forwarding page which seems to be a more logical location.
In either case I'm very happy to know that this feature is available on the RV's.
    Thanks for your assistance.

  • CER Use port description as port location

    Hello all,
I am trying to confirm if this "feature" is as useless as I have found it to be. From my testing and what little documentation I can find when checking the "Use port description as port location" check box on the LAN switch details screen this will ONLY show you this information when looking at the switch port details screen. It DOES NOT actually use the switch port description as location information for the 911 call notifications.
My hope was that by checking this check box the switch port description would override the ALI location information configured within the ERL assigned to the switch port that the phone is connected to. This would allow the creation of one ERL/ALI per building say and the device specific room level information would simply come from the switch port description. With out this option a ERL/ALI has to be created for every room in the building.
    Thank you all.

There's absolutely no problem in choosing 8888 as admin port while installing IWS in solaris Environment. Just make sure u follow these steps while installation:
(1)You should choose a random number for the administration server to make it harder for anyone to breach your server.
    (2) Make sure the port you choose isn't in use. Look at the file /etc/services on the server machine to make sure you don't assign a port number that is reserved for another service. If you choose a port that is being used by another service, the installation program prompts you for another port.
(3)Note :If you choose a server port number lower than 1024, you must be logged in as root to start the server. After the server is bound to the port, the server changes from the root user account to the user account you specify. If you choose a port number greater than 1024, you don't have to be the root user to start the server.

  • Can't connect to unc path, UNC using port 80 instead port 445

Can't connect to unc path, UNC using port 80 instead port 445,
    Please advise me,
    Regards,
    Lior

    Hi,
Can you successfully ping the UNC server? If the ping fails , it means that the UNC server is down, in this case, you should find the UNC server and check the running status.
If you can successfully ping the UNC server, the port number you specify should not be 80, because the 80 port is already used by default, So, in this case, you should ask the UNC server administrator to change to the default port number 445.
