How do you change the home button setting not to go to voice control if you keep your finger on it?

In the previous iPhone OS, you had an option to change what the Home button double-click would do. That is no longer available in OS 4. In all versions with voice control, it is activated by pressing and holding the Home button.

How do I remove the floating home button from my phone?

How do I remove the floating home button from my iPhone 4? It was originally installed by the Apple Genius Bar because my home button was not working, but I have now bought a replacement iPhone 4 (where the home button works) and I still have the floating home button on the screen. I would like to remove it considering its no longer needed.

Select the "Dot", then "Gestures", chose a Gesture Square, Assistive Touch, Off.

On some iPhones, the Home button itself stopped working. Mostly on the 3GS and prior. This was due to the fact some customers "man handled" the button all too much.
The newer iPhones has some reinforcements for the button.

Siri is prompting to unlock Iphone 6 when pressing home button for voice dial of existing contact

Just upgraded me to an IPhone 6. I restored my new phone from recent back up so all contacts, etc. are there. Also updated to latest OS.
If I depress the home button Siri is now prompting me to unlock my IPhone.
Scenario:
Depress Home button to activate Siri
Say "Call Home:"
Siri responds "You'll need unlock your IPhone first"
Unlock IPhone
Siri responds "Just to confirm - you'd like to call home".
I used to be able to just say "Call home" and it would just dial.....no unlock...no confirmation.
What's changed? Is there a setting I need to tweak?

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your new iPhone 6. If you are unable to voice dial from your lock screen, you may want to see if the setting to disable Siri when the phone is locked is enabled, as is noted here:
Prevent access to Siri when iPhone is locked. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone models with Touch ID) or Settings > Passcode (other models). You can also disable Siri by turning on restrictions. See Restrictions.

IOS 5 "Home Button" from Sleep Behavior

can anyone help me with an explanation or a set of search terms for understanding:
a. what iPhone 4 does when I hold down the home button to get it out of sleep? it seems to me that this /sometimes/ goes to the Voice Memo function and /sometimes/ it puts a << |>| >> (reverse - play - forward set of buttons) way at the top with my home screen image covering the bottom. I don't understand what this second set does (I tried to use them and they are inactive) and I don't understand if I have options that I can set for coming out of sleep like this.
Also, is there a difference between holding down the home button and just clicking it once or clicking it twice..?
Is there a way to send it straight to record audio like a tape recorder??
I'm searching the iOS5 manual and not coming up with anything.

i do have the phone locked and i think you are right that one click brings me to the unlock screen. two clicks you are saying goes to audio playback which i guess is iTunes? i mean, can i control where this goes? i mean, say i want it to go to an audio /recording/ functionality so that i can record someone speaking. or say i find it uber annoying to go to this audio playback because i /then/ have to click out of it by hitting the home button /again/? i'm not sure (and i can check with your help) but i /think/ that i don't get /anything/ happening sometimes on one click of the home screen and i automatically have thought it is because i should have double clicked it (which i do). anyway, if it only goes to audio playback this seems like a waste of functionality for my uses.
Also, when the phone is /unlocked/ doubleclick goes to a search functionality for me and i'm wondering if there is a way to change this setting - or really /any/ of these type of this-button-goes-somewhere-not-obvious functions...

Power button and voice control buttons won't work on my macbook pro retina

I found that my power and voice control buttons won't work on my new Macbook pro retina. I can't shut it down or restart it in any way. And Im afraid if I force to shut it down I can't turn on it cuz the power button won't work. What should I do? Any idea???

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data.
Quit Facetime and Messages if either is running.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following item from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try the applications again. If they work now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit again. In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Trash. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash too.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again.

TS2634 Home button and voice command problems

The home button stopped working today on our iPhone 4 and voice command keeps coming on. I have done a hard restore to no avail. Any ideas what I should try next?

No clue what a "hard restore" is, no such function exists.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). If none of this resolves the issue then it is almost certainly a hardware issue and a trip to Apple is in store.

Move/remove/change RSS button from next to refresh sign (Safari 4.0.4)

How to move/remove/change RSS-button location from next to refresh sign as I'm wasting alot of time everytime when trying to hit that refresh button?
I know I can use keyboard to refresh a webpage, but I really like the easy to use stop/refresh button a-la Firefox (after combining them) in the left side next to the "previous/next page" buttons, and I really hate that RSS appearing on all those websites which provides RSS. I don't use RSS and I don't want to see it when browsing and using Safari.
I hope there is a way to doing that, otherwise I have no choice but switching back to Firefox..

but the "debug" menu doesn't appear after running "defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1" command in terminal. I have Safari 4.0.4
But the idea is great: now I only want to disable RSS.

Hide/Change "Help" button from the Main Toolbar

Hi all,
I would like to know if there is any possibility to change the URLs displayed when clicking in "Help" button from the Main Toolbar.
I think that it is not possible so that is the reason I was also asking the the "toolbar ID" in order to hide the button through "Toolbar customization".

We can change the URLs displayed when clicking in "Help" button from the Main Toolbar.
In System Properties please mention the URLs to which you want these links to point:
Documentation - system.help.url.buyside
E-Learning - system.link.community_url
Community - system.link.elearning_url
Guides - system.link.guides_url
Also you can customize the display names of these by changing the Localized Resource values for below
common$common.top_links.documentation_link.name
portal$portal.channel.help_center.training
portal$portal.channel.help_center.community
portal$portal.channel.help_center.guides

I would like to move the FF4 Home button from the Right to the left side of the address field. Is this possible?

I would like this because when I open a new tab, it opens to a blank page. Most often I want a tab to provide a new search process, and having to reach to the far right of the screen when the new tab is enabled on the left of the screen seems disjointed.

Right click a blank part of the Tab Bar and then click ''Customize''. A panel will open and while it remains visible, you can re-arrange the layout. So drag the Home button somewhere else.
For anything you don't want, drag it into that panel.
Similarly, you can add to the existing layout by dragging stuff out of there.

How to stop the home button from vibrating, in an intex cloud fx firefox os phone??

i have asked around and double checked my phone - but have not found any way to stop the home button (its the only button at the bottom of the phone). i feel there is no need for it to vibrate and as it is, the battery life is short in this phone.. so i want to stop the vibration and save as much battery as possible.
hope someone can help me in this.

No Talk back from Voice Control

About 3 weeks ago my voice control stopped talking back to me. I've done all the regular reboot stuff and checked the settings and tried everything I can think of to turn it back on. Is this an OS problem? I'm currently running 10.2.1.537 If so.. when will it be fixed. Ontario just doubled the fines for distracted driving. :-(

Changing home page on parental control account

Set up an account for my five year old. Used parental controls to customize access to select websites. Every time I login, it goes to apple start homepage. From Safari, went to preferences but change homepage is not highlighted. How can I change it?

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
You may need to temporarily change that account to a "standard" one, make the change, then set it back to the more-restrictive setting.
