Changing home screen smart buttons

Hello,
i would like to know, if it is possible to change / disable the home screen smart buttons (phone / search / camera) at the bottom line?
Because, each time i take the phone (Z30) out of the leather pocket i start the camera or the search app. This is awful.

No, those bottom buttons cannot be changed or disabled.
What type of leather pocket is this? One which contains the magnetized sleeper feature?
If so, a couple of options would under Settings > Security and Privacy > Device Password > Lock when Holstered and enable this. That way your device will be locked when removing from the holster.
Also, the device can be put in sleep mode when inserting to the holster by simply press the top edge power key for a half second.

IPhone 3G - Change Home Screen

I have been searching iTunes to see if there are any apps that I can use to change the home screen on my 3G, is this actually possible? I have search apple.ca, but there is so much information out there, I virtually get lost.

Hello,
Is there a way to change the links/options shown under home screen ? For instance on my E72 I get following options:

I want to now change @Set up e-mail option with something else of my choice . Is that possible?

Home screen shortcut buttons

can you change the home screen buttons on the bottom? It has phone, contacts, messaging, and apps? also, can you change the search default provider?

If the buttons are setup like most devices you can drag any shortcut to replace a icon on launcher but the app button for the start menu..
As for the defailt search provider, you can install other ones like google but you wont be able to change the default search engine... But you can place google widget on a home page and clock it to search and it should search Google instead of Bing..

Settings screen unavailable after changing home screen

I've just tried to change my home screen using the settings menu and one of the preloaded images. It didn't change the home screen, and now when i go back to the settings screen all I can see is that image. It won't respond to the select or cancel buttons. Everything else is working fine, but I'm panicking without access to settings. Help!

Try closing the Settings app completely and see if it then works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Settings 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Settings app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

IPod Touch 2gen iOS 4 Can't change home screen wallpaper

I just updated my iPod Touch 2 generation to iOS 4 and I was excited about changing the home screen wallpaper, but when i went to change it, that option wasn't there. Is there some reason this feature is not available on the iPod Touch (or mine at least)? I am confused and disappointed..

You never could change the background... At least, I never could!
You can change the picture for the "home" screen, unless I'm mistaken. This is the screen you see when you click on the iPod waking it from stand-by. You'll see the "slide to unlock" slider, and your image in the background, but that's it!
Now, here's the "thing"... Granted, I've not been using it for a couple of months, so correct me if I'm wrong. Behind all the icons, the background had the typical "space" image. Dark, with red gassy clusters and stars... The same default image from OS X. Or, maybe I'm going crazy, and it's always been solid black.
After I ran the update, I did the same thing as everyone else... Tried to set my background, only to find it isn't supported on the 2g. I was surprised to find it solid black though. Were did my star picture go?
So, please let me know if I'm imagining the old starry background was there, or if the update has sucked it away to blackness.
(Otherwise, folders are good... That is all.)

HELP!! App 200 error? Cannot click on/select anything on Home Screen/no buttons work.

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330 and it's worked great until last night. I kept pulling it out of my pocket and it would be off. And when i would turn it back on, i'd put it back in my pocket to wait for it to start up and when I looked at it again, it would be off again. so I finally waited to watch it and see when it was cutting off, and when the home screen came up, i scrolled over everything as normal and it appeared to be working fine, it would still say the name of the app i was hovering over.. but when i tried to click that, which has been my text message mailbox the most, it doesnt do anything. nothing happens at all. It's like it doesnt even realize I'm clicking it. And the enter button on the bottom right doesnt work either. and I try to turn it off to restart it and the end button doesnt work. No Keys or Clicking with the scroll ball works, just scrolling? I can only restart it if I take the battery out. And last night when I plugged it in and took the battery out and restarted it, it suddenly worked, but after having it off the charger for a while it stopped and started again when i plugged it back in, but the batter life is completely charged and fine. and the second time i plugged it in, something came up saying App error 200, reset. so i clicked reset and it worked fine all night and day today until tonight when it's started doing the same thing, except now nothing will make it work. Taking the battery out while it's charging, nothing at all. i've taken the battery out and restarted it atleast 20 times since I've been home. It's really frusterating. Can someone tell me why this is happening?? And maybe how to fix it?! Much appreciation.

You may have to do a reload of the OS. Some app on the phone is causing trouble intermittently I'm guessing. Here is what you can do:

3.Restore the backup after you have verified it doesn't occur again

Changing home screen wallpaper

I just updated my 8GB iPhone to the new iPhone 4 software. How do I change the homescreen wall paper?

If you have an iPhone 3G, that's all you get, I'm not sure about the iPhone 3GS, but I suspect it gets the home screen wallpaper.

Can't change home screen background

I have downloaded and installed iOS 4 software and have an iPhone 3G. When I try to select a picture to save as wallpaper it doesn't give the option to set it as my home screen background. Is this feature not available for iPhone 3G? If it is available how do you get it to work?

I have the same iPhone 3G (the original iPhone) with the new 4.0 Software.
You should be able to save your own picture as iPhone Wallpaper.
Go to your iPhone Photos, iPhone Pictures. Tap the picture you wanted. On the bottom left of your iPhone screen, tap the boxed arrow icon. tap "Use as Wallpaper".
2nd way to set iPhone wallpaper: First make sure the Picture is in your Photos on your iPhone. Then go to your Settings app, Wallpaper, iPhone pictures. Then you should see all your pictures that are saved on your iPhone 3G. Tap on the picture you want as your Wallpaper. Tap Set.

Soft buttons on home screen

Hi,
I am a new user of E71. After I inserted my SIM card , I received a theme from my operator including a screen saver and a soft button on the home screen "right button"
This button is assigned to services provided by my operator.
But it is useless for me. That's why I want to remove that button and assign it to an application if possible.
How can I achieve this ?
In another forum I've read that this button is configurable through the "standby mode" settings under phone settings.
Unfortunately I can't find such setting.
Can anyone help me please ?

That's ok.
Now I wonder if it is possible to change the applications with icons at the upper side of home screen.
How can I do that ?
For example, I don't want the default apps in the home screen, instead I prefer google maps.

The settings for customising the standby screen can be found here:
Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby Mode
To change the functions for the icons select "Active standby apps."
To change the functions of the left and right soft keys choose short cuts.
You can't change the other items such as the calender display & wi-fi. They are always there if active standby is turned on.

Home screen: broken images view

Please help me, i am using Nokia 701, when i am changing home screen wallpaper, it's take times to load, because of some broken images, but in my gallery not showing anything like that as broken images. what's the problem? how can i solve it?

Already i faced this problem i deleted and restored data. problem solved. but i hate to do that now because. internal memory may get slow.

Try this also download the app that I have attached. Install it and open it. It will display all the media files in your phone. The broken images will also be displayed. These images will be black in color. Tap that image then click the small i icon at the bottom it will display the file path. Go to that location using xplore and delete the images. Hope this helps.

My home screen is gigantic. As a result I cannot see the keypad for entering in my passcode. Somehow, everything on my home screen has expanded to gigantic size. I've tried to reset the phone by holding the home button and the on off button...

My home screen is gigantic… So much so that 1/200 of the normal screen display now fills up the entire screen. As a result, I cannot even see my keypad to enter in my passcode. I've tried a hard reset a few times (holding the home button and the on off button at the same time until the iPhone restarts). This has not resulted in any changes. Any ideas?

My iCloud is apparently 20gb and I have 6gb left. I'm attaching a screen shot. Any thoughts on how I can make available some more storage?
I Also wanted to get an enhanced quality Speech voice Alex, but it is saying I don't have enough Memory (I think it says memory because I can't read the message fully). Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black. Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in, any ideas?

Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously. Has anyone had this problem? I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem!
