Changing iCal email invitation text?

I've searched through of all of the localization files I can find in the iCal package, and can't find any text related to the content of the email message which is sent. It used to be in iTIP.strings, but it doesn't appear to be there anymore. Does anyone have any idea where to find this?

Hi,
Look in "/System/Library/Frameworks/CalendarStore.framework". There are localization folders in there which have the iTIP.strings files you'd need to edit. Warning: Be careful, backup and make sure you know what you are doing before editing stuff in the Systems folder.
If you would prefer to be able to edit the outgoing messages on a message by message basis, (and not have to mess around with things in the System folder) take a look at my application iCal Reply Checker.
Best wishes

  • Change iCal Email

I was making a new event in iCal and I wanted to have the alarm send an email. However the email that shows up im no longer using. How can I change the email in the alarm option.

when you are making an ical event and set an alarm to send and email you can click on the email and it will list all emails in your address book entry. you can choose the one you want. also, you should delete the obsolete email from your address book entry.

  • Ical - email invites only?

I'm only sending email invites? I just want to send an event invitation via the small notification window and then they click accept that way? Why am I sending emails only?
    Thanks.

  • Change Default iCal email invite handler

Right now in iCal, when I want to invite someone to a meeting, it wants to open Mail and send it out through that. Problem is I don't use Mail. I use Gmail via the Chrome browser. Is there any way to change the default email handler to Gmail?
Or at the very least, is there a way to turn off Mail, because it's annoying when I accidentally hit invite and it has to open up Mail and then I close it down?
    Thanks!

    Greetings,
Invites work by iCal sending a small calendar file (.ics) via a mail client. Using web based email (like the Gmail website) is not a mail client. You are logging into the mail server directly using a web browser like Chrome.
If you want to use the invite feature of iCal you need to use Mail or some other mail client software (Entourage, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.)
Have you considered just checking your Gmail using Mail? Thats what I do. You can still use Google Chrome to check your email if you want to. Just setup Mail with your Gmail account so it can handle sending / receiving iCal invites.
    Hope that helps.

  • ICal Email Invitations

I have setup my office calendar using CalDev to my office computer and almost everything works as expected.
I have "On My Mac" calendars and "CalDev" calendars on both my workstations (OSX 10.6.8) and on my server (OSX 10.8.2) user accounts.  When I invite someone from a "On My Mac" calendar an email is sent to the invitee, as desired.  When I invite someone from a "CalDev" calendar, no email is sent to the invitee.
Is this how Apple intended iCal invitations to work, or is it a bug?  It would seem to me that in an office using shared "CalDev" calendars, invitations should be able to be sent to other employees via email.  Any comments would be appreciated.

Apparently the answer is Google Calendar.

  • ICal email invite icon

I sent my first iCal invite yesterday to my sister for an event on Saturday the 20th.
She was confused because she received a nice email with a big icon at the top that said "Tuesday 9".
Surely the icon at the top of the invite should match the actual date of the event?

I'm getting the exact same thing. Tues 9. Very odd.
I hope this is a bug and that it will be fixed shortly.
(in other words I hope it's not a case of an Apple designer dropping a nice shiny and completely misleading image in an email notification template. Usability fail)

  • Calendar events created in iCal sending multiple email invites to invitees

    Background:
    Google Apps domain account
Lion and Snow Leopard iCal users syncing to Google Calendar
    Problem:
1.A Lion user creates a new iCal event and invites multiple people to the event.  The event is created and then an email invitation is sent to all invitees.  Each invitee receives 6 - 10 email notices about the evet.
    2. the event organizer changes the event time, multiple email notices go out to all invitees (6-10 emails each).
What is causing this problem and is there a way to fix it?
    Thanks

  • Need to change default email for iCal and Discussions

I have a dual problem tonight.  my first problem is trying to reset my default email address in iCal to my new email address since we changed ISP.  I have read that I need to change the default in MAIL, but everything there is with my new email address (@Telus).  My old email was (@Shaw).  When I set up a meeting on iCal and send it out to others, the reply email is @shaw and I can't seem to find how to change it to @telus.  No one can reply with confirmation since it is going to a dead letter box.
However, in trying to find something here on the discussions I noticed that my apple account to log into discussions still has my @shaw address, but for the life of me I can not find the account settings that will let me change my email on my user name/profile.  I won't get a notice of a solution of either of these questions through the automatic reply as it will go to dead email land.  I don't want to have to close this user name and my history and start all over again.  Yet the edit profile only lets me reset my biography information, not my email account.
Since I won't get a reply automatically, please CC your post here to mrbarth @ telus.net as well.  Thanks,

On Mac OS X, 10.7.2:  After several days of trying all the suggestions, I went to the Apple store.  It took 2 Geniuses two hours to figure out that invitiations were being sent from the email that I have set as primary with Apple.  It didn't matter that the account wasn't even listed on My Card in Address book nor was it even anywhere in mail preferences.  What mattered was that I had that email as primary.  So, I went to
    https://appleid.apple.com/
and changed the Primary Email address.  Now all my invites come from that address.
Supposedly iTunes and everything else will come along...

Thank you Apple for obviously Not testing Lion Server for international use :-/

    Hello Daryn,
Thinks for commenting. I am very upset that Apple just said "No" when I asked for this to be fixed. There appears to be no way to submit this as an official bug that keeps ical from running.
Apple actually had me reinstall my whole server and the issue was still there and then they just said "Oh, well I will email someone about it.".
This is the first time Apple has stunk it up in my books. This is bad support for Server.

  • Customize ical server  email invitation to events?

Is there a way to customize the email invitation that iCal server from snow leopard Server that sends to people outside of the organization when there is an event? maybe fonts? some custom text or company logo?
    Thank you.

iCal Server sends invitations to internal users too if you remove the email addresses of your internal users under "Info" in Workgroup Manager.
So the Open Directory does not have an entry for the users with your internal domain, which makes iCal Server see the user as an external one.

  • Why is Ical not converting the time zones on email invites?  This is a big problem where my work is global.

Why is my Ical not converting the time zones on email invites?  this has happend twice this week where someone has sent me an evite and it post improperly on the calendar.

My original post stated that I was having performance problems and the whole point of the post was to find out if there is a way of exporting the information out of Thunderbird and importing into a new profile. Nothing has changed. I was not looking for the standard methods of managing profiles, which are well documented on the web.
Thunderbird appears to make use of a number of sqlite databases. My post was to see if there is anyone on the forum with sufficient knowledge about the database structure/usage to show me how to get the information out and import it to new databases. It is my view that some database corruption has taken place that is causing my performance problems. So, I wanted to get the data out of the databases, edit it as necessary, and get it back into new databases. I was hoping that the Thunderbird developers, or a third party, had a tool to help me with that.
I suspect that the corruption has occurred due to hard disk errors or an unexpected shutdown at some point. I could be completely wrong, but as I have said, I have ruled out the obvious things. Having created a new "blank" profile I know that the performance problems are related to my existing profile. The new profile/Thunderbird performed without issues.
If you have the expertise to show me how to do that then I would welcome your help. If you can show me that I am wrong in my assumptions then I would be interested to hear your views.
So, nothing at all has changed. I previously logged a bug report on RSS feeds and I only raised the RSS issue as an example of why I think the obvious things are not applicable. Many users may have issues relating to anti-virus/firewall type problems but as I said in my original post, I am quite technical. The point of saying that was to make it clear that I am not a novice user. I also did quite a lot of searching via Google to see if I could find a solution before posting on this forum.
So, nothing at all has changed from my original post.

  • How to change predefined email text?

    Hi All,
when I create bid invitation system send email notification to all participants. How can I change predefined email text?
    Thanks,
    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,
with transaction SMARTFORMS you can access standard forms and change them (this is a change of a std object).
But this is not the correct procedure. You should copy the std form into a Z one, and call it from the BADI.
This is cleaner and designed for this goal.
When we don't have available BADIs or user exits, then there is no other solution than changing the standard SAP objects. Ok. But when we have this opportunity, we should use it !!!

  • Changing ical "accepted:mailto:" in iCal event invitation

Recently I've noticed that iCal has been sending the iCal event invitation with the incorrect "accepted:mailto:" email address. By looking at the raw source of the sent message you can see where the email address goes to when the user accepts the meeting invite.
Is there any way to change this embedded email address? Where is iCal getting this address from?
    Thanks for the help,
    Michel

    Hi Guys,
I was able solve this problem by going into my addressbook, selecting preferences then "Template" and finally adding an extra email field to the template and setting the first email field to "home" and the second one to "work". Then closed the preferences and tested an iCal meeting invite. The reply accept email address now used my home email address.
    Hope this helps.

  • I am unable to change the color of text in an email I replay to or compose. I am on 31.6.0 release of Thunderbird.

When I receive, reply or compose email. I no longer am able to see or change the color of text. I select to change the text from black to Red (or any other color) and the text just stays black, The color seletor box will show the last select color, but never actually changes the text color in an email. Also in received email, when the sender has indicated their replies to me are in another color, All the text only appears as black. I never had this problem in the past, not sure what has happened. I did restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled and this did not change the problem.
