Changing iCal event fonts

I am using iCal events to populate a calendar. I am also using US holidays. Is there an easy way to set the iCal events to a different font/size/boldness? I have a lot of events, and when they are mixed in with the holidays it is hard to distinguish between the two.

The only way I've been able to mix fonts is to create the text (font, size, color and justification) in another a application and then cut and paste.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

I just made an automator event to launch my daily sites everyday and saved it as an ical plugin. now i see that its set for 6 PM instead of 6AM anyway to fix this? thx.

I too wish someone who knows how to alter defaults in apple applications would jump into this. If you look above, you'll see I made mention of finding a similar question which was responded to with a suggestion using Terminal. I didn't want to fool with that but enough time has passed without any better answer that I decided to give it a whirl, changing the command slightly to fit my concern. Instead of defaults write com.apple.iCal 'Default duration in minutes for new event' 15 I entered: defaults write com.apple.iCal 'Default time for new event' 09:00. Figuring maybe that would make the default for new evbents 9 AM. Sadly, nothing happened. I tried several variations but nothing changes. Clearly, I do not know what I am doing in Terminal. And try as I might, I cannot budge iCal's defaults.

Share and change iCal events with co-workers

Hello,
I want to set up a iCal group with my co-designers at work, where we can all share and change any production schedules and vacations amongst each other. so everyone will know what is going on with each designers workload in a particular day or week or month.
Is it possible to set that up at our work?

It is possible.
Create a Calendar on iCloud. Right click on it and it will open a small window were to pu the Emails of others to share the calendar with. They have to be iCloud Mails.

Event font colours have changed in Lion

Since upgrading to Lion, the event font colours have changed in iCal.
My yellow home calendar now has a white font making it very hard to read
I have search for an answer for a coupla hours now and found much info on changing the calendar colour but not the font colour.
Maybe it's knowing what question to ask huh?
Also how do I get the list of calendars and the month calendar back on the side?
Any help would be appreciated.

The Snow Leopard gamma change wouldn't make things look "low-bit" or low quality: it would just make things look a bit darker and more saturated.
It's always a good step to calibrate your monitor if you notice color problems: visit "System Preferences -> Displays -> Color -> Calibrate..."

Cannot change "New Event" to an event name in iCal

For several days whenever I enter a new event in iCal I can put in all the information (times, etc.), but it will not allow me to change "New Event" that appears at the top to the name of the event. So I have several events now called "New Event," and I have to actually indicate the name of the event in the "note" section. This is very problematic, because the "note" section doesn't show up until I click on the event. Has anyone else had this problem and/or know of a solution? This is my first time to ask a question, so I hope I did it right.

Before we conclude that iCal is broken (which requires an OS reinstall to resolve) lets test in a new user account to see if iCal works there:

3.) Login to the new user and test iCal
If the same issue occurs in the new user then iCal should indeed be reinstalled:

Hi, I've a 3GS and iPad (on 5.1.1) and Macbook (10.6.8) all connected to iCal on iCloud, but when I change an event on phone it doesnt update on iCloud/other devices - any ideas?

I've an iPhone 3GS and iPad '1' (both on IOS 5.1.1) and Macbook (on 10.6.8) - all connect happily to my iCloud iCal (using the iCal app for iPhone/iPad and Firefox browser for access to my iCloud).
But ... when I change an event (add/delete) on my iPhone it doesnt update on the iCal on my iCloud, therefore neither on iCal on my iPad!
Yet if I change anything on my iCal iPad / iCal iCloud it updates/refreshes on the iPhone fine?
So - it clearly recognises/refreshes any updates but can't update the iCloud!
Any ideas?

If you're also having problems changing the account on your iOS devices, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

How to change color of iCal event, without changing the calendar.

I have my work Exchange calendar imported to iCal. When I want to change the color of an event in iCal, it actually changes the event to a differnet 'calendar' and therefore no longer shows up on my work calendar. This wouldn't be a problem, excpet my secretary can no longer see the event on my work calendar that shows up on her PC. So how can I change the color of 1 event, say to 'Important' or 'Must Attend', without changing the calendar?

Right click (Control-click) the calendar you want to change in the left pane and select Get Info. There is a colour selection button to the right of the calendar name..

Time of iCal events is changed on phone

Syncing iCal events with my Sony Ericsson V800 worked fine until a few weeks ago. Since then some, but not all events appear with a changed tme on the phone, mostly by 1 hour. Computer and phone both have the same time zone setting (GMT + 2, Mid European daylight saving time). Resetting the sync history on iSync didn't change anything. Does anyone have a hint how to solve this? Thanks in advance.

This is most likely due to the clocks changing at the end of the month. Events before the clocks change will be ok, events after will be one hour out
This is just a limtation in the way iSync & Sony Ericsson phones handle the clocks changing.
When the clocks do change just adjust the daylight savings setting in the phone and re-sync. All future events will be correct until the next clocks change in 6 months.

ICal events and time zone change

Has anyone scoped out what happens to iCal events when your MBP moves between time zones and automatically changes the date and time settings? In general, I'd like my calendar events to be fixed at the time in the time zone where they are supposed to occur, and not where the MBP is, but of course I'd like the MBP to be telling me the time where it actually is. I don't think iCal does it this way, but I'm not sure how it handles time differences. Anybody know?

In iCal preferences, there is a check box for "turn on time zone support." If you leave it unchecked, iCal will automatically adjust to your current time zone and move the events forward/back by the appropriate number of hours. If you check "turn on time zone support" a drop-down menu will appear at the upper right of the iCal page allowing you to select the time zone you wish to view. In this mode, iCal does not automatically move the events unless you select a new time zone manually. Does that make sense?

How to change the timezone of all iCal events?

After importing some items from another calendar most of my iCal events are "floating" and not fixed to any timzone. I would like to have them all in "Europe/Germany". Does anyone know howto set the timezone of all calendar events in one step together? Is there perhaps a solution in AppleScript?

2)Use your favorite Textedito to replace

RECURRENCE-ID: by RECURRENCE-ID;TZID=Europe/Berlin:
inside any VEVENT block. Take care not to change anything in the VTIMEZONE block at the beginning of the file.
3) Save the file and reimport it to a new iCal Calendar. Double check the imported events against their counterparts in the calendar exported.

Missing Ical events after change of apple id

Recently, I changed my apple id's email address and all my ical event were all missing. How can I retrieve it?

Well, I went into "manage your name, ID and email addresses" > " Apple ID and Primary email address" > "edit my email"
Those were the only steps I took. Then I noticed all my ical events for year 2013 were missing on both my iphone and the icloud account that I just went to check out online on my macbook.
Events from 2012 were not affected..
I have not delete the icloud account from my phone/ add the new email..

ICal event times changed when my mac updated time to daylight saving time

When my mac updated its time automatically to daylight saving time, the timed events in iCal all had an hour added to them. Time zone support is off in iCal. I tried changing my time zone from the system preferences (just to see what happens) and the iCal times also change. Is there any way to turn off this ridiculous and useless (to me) feature? I travel quite a bit and all iCal events are always added in local time scheduling. So there is no need for the event times to change when I change time zone!

I am having the same problem but it's only some of the appointments that were changed. I think some were entered after the update and perhaps those weren't changed. Very confusing.

ICal events automatically changed my alert time.

The events I have scheduled in iCal started alerting me today. I looked in my calendar and found that all of my events had an alert scheduled for "at time of event." I never had my events alerts turned on. I checked back several months and forward several months, and the were all on, in addition to that, I found that when I changed the alert to "none," it didn't prompt me to change all future events. So, I would have to go through and change every event. Not going to happen. Any body else have this issue? Any fixes?

IPod changes times for iCal events

My iPod seems to be changing the time of my iCal events. For example, the event in iCal is set for 1 p.m., but when I use iSync to sync, it shows up on my iPod as starting at 8 a.m.
Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the response. Do you know how I can match time zones? I've got my iMac set up on the Central time zone, and my iPod also shows the correct Central time zone. I haven't been able to find a time zone setting in iSync.

Quit iCal, go to System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/reset the appropriate region.
Log out/in or restart and iCal should display the a.m./p.m. format.
