Changing icon in dock

I use to have a nice fat Turkey icon on my Dock which held all my recipes. Some time ago this changed to a generic looking folder. All the files are still in there and I can assign new icons to the
individual files like a salad icon for the salads and a bottle of wine for the wines, but I can't change the folder sitting on the dock back to my fat old Turkey?
Any ideas?

Somehow the problem is fixed. I was playing around with this problem and found out if I clicked on
the recipe folder and kept it held down the window opened giving me the options of how to display it. Display as stacks was checked, so I checked display as folder and the fat turkey icon suddenly reappeared as the recipe icon. Don't know where it's been all these months but is back.

ok so i know how to change the dock icons and all that but i was wondering if anyone knows of a good app to use, currently i use candybar but its trial ran out and im not all for paying for it right now. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!:)

CANNOT change Icons in the dock or other places like I used to in 10.5.8

I found a nice set of icons that I would like to set to my MBP that I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. So far I really haven't had any real problems that I wasn't able to work through except for this one. I've even opened up the "Info" box and changed the sharing and the permissions and changed them so that as an administrator I could change the icon but no luck! On my G5 tower I have no problem at all using the standard procedure but when I apply it to my laptop it just doesn't want to work. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I've been playing around with that problem for a bit now: Apple changed it with Leopard and Snow Leopard and it's not as easy as it was with Tiger... but I found a way around it:
When you control click on any of your folders (to the right of the System Prefs icon), you need to have the following checked:
Sort by: Name
Display as: Folder
View content as: List
Having changed icons dozens of times, I found that any other setting will keep your pretty icon within a Finder window, but as soon as move it to the Dock, it'll revert to the stock view.
So, once you choose above settings, go ahead and change an icon on one of your folders and then drag it into the dock. It should work - mine have been there for 2 weeks now.

Changing Icons & Reverting to Old?

Can someone please explain how to change icons on both the dock and desktop as well as a good site with cool new icons?
Also - if I change an icon, how do I go about reverting to the old one?

click on the icon or folder...
Press Apple+i
The window will pop up
Find the icon you WANT
Do the same - select it, press Apple+i
Then in the top left corner you will see a mini icon. Click that so it's selected.
Hit Apple+C
Then select the icon you want to replace. Click on that so it's selected
Hit Apple+V
If it doesn't show up, just do it again.
To REMOVE an icon - same thing - press apple+i on the file you want to remove the icon on
Click the little icon in the top left corner so it's selected
Hit Apple+X
The icon reverts to the ORIGINAL icon.
As mentioned above, there are other programs, that you pay for, that can do this for you automatically, and can change icons within say browsers and such (like your little finder icons, etc). It's cool for about 10 minutes, but I don't think it's worth the money.
Make sure to check out apple.com downloads, iconfactory, and many other websites for apple icons, there are a TON out there.

Not able to change icons since OS 10.8.3

Hi everybody
I'm not able to change any icons, especially drive icons, since the update to OS 10.8.3.
Could please anyone help me? If also possible i would like to change the default drive icons to woodlike icons so they fit to my computer even better.
To understand it a little better, take a look at screenshot of my desktop. ;-)

Just browsing through the internet and I couldn't find a Tutorial which showed how to change the Finder icon in dock in SNOW LEOPARD. Here are the steps:
(You will need to log in as root)
1. Go on google and look for the icon you want and copy it
2. Navigate to Macintosh HD>System>Library>CoreServices.
3.Click on the Finder app and press "CMD+I" to open 'Get info' for Finder.
4. On the top left there should be icon next to the text Finder.
5. Click on the icon and Press "Cmd+V" to paste your new icon there
6. Close the window.
7. Go back to Macintosh HD>System>Library>CoreServices and look for the app called "Dock"
8. Right click "Dock.app" and select "Show Package Contents" and open "Contents"
9. Look for the Image called "finder.png" and copy it somewhere for back up.
10. Go to the image u copied and change the name to finder.png
11. Replace the finder.png in the Dock.app with your new one
12. Close all the windows
13. Open Terminal
14. Type this code in:
sudo rm /var/folders/*/*/-Caches-/com.apple.dock.iconcache
15. Then kill Dock using this command:
killall Dock
16. Once the Dock reopens you're done!

Wikipedia icon to Dock.

How do I make an icon for Wikipedia to put into the Dock? I know how to "change" icons for things IN the dock (if I wanted to) but Wiki comes up as a Web Site and I cannot use "Get Info" to effect the change--even if I could find an appropriate icon. W/o a dock icon its a 3 step effort to open Wiki--takes maybe a second or two--but who want to waste time, especially at end of life? Well named "not a guru" !!

There's an open source app, cDock, that can make changes to the dock. I have mine totally transparent. These are the themes you can use with it:
It also adds the colored icons to the Finder's sidebar. I've had no problems with it with Yosemite.

Try this:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of iOS.
2. Make sure you have the latest version of ibooks.
3. Download a free book from the iBook store. (Winnie the Pooh is free) This appears to make existing books with a "downloading" status change to the cloud download button. Click the button to download the book again.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then to resume the download.

For any programme and folders, copy the picture that you want to make as the icon. Find the one that you want to change in the Finder. Press once on the item then press command+I. Click on the icon that it shows (it will show that it is selected). Then press command+P to paste.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

I have lost my dock icon from dock bar. i did two finger moment. now i want to get dock back to dock bar.

I have lost dock from dock bar and even few more application like note and system perference. I did try to restore them as it is but could not relocate those. Please help me to get my dock back as i think its trashed now.

I hope i am clear. I have lock the icon of dock and notepad from belowed dock bar. as i was learning the launchpad and put my two fingers on them and draged and those got transhed.

I need to add "change" icon in the table control. I added it but when I click on it is not working.
My requirement is that when I run my custom report, all the fields should be shown is in display mode. Then when I click on the "change" icon, all fields should be enabled for change.
I have already referred to the standard progs BCALV_* but it does not have the "change" icon.
plz give me any reference prg or sample code.

Track the function code of change icon in user command. if it is clicked then put a flag eq X.
check that flag in PBO, if it is eq X then screen-input = 1 or vice versa.
try this code:
in PBO:
LOOP AT SCREEN

ELSE
SCREEN-INPUT = 0
ENDIF
MODIFY SCREEN

How to change icon of a Folder-track?

By Folder-track I mean the Folder in Arrange window that is created from "packing reions". Is that even possible in LogicPro7 - to change it's icon?
I mean I know how to change icons for my audio tracks, audio-instrument tracks. And it would be nice if I can assign different icons for different Folder-tracks.
I did not find how to do that

It is possible... use option-command-hold on the icon of the folder in a track in the arrange and up pops the many icons to choose from.
You can set the icon to something other than the folder.
To make different folders I guess you would have to do some image editing
and make your own icons but that is pretty easy.
Put your user create icons here...
~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Images/Icons
and logic will load your numbered image file instead of the default ones that
Logic would normaly use.
Note: 1.png is the file name of the regular folder icon.

Changing the file icon will not enable Quicktime to play Matroska files. Changing the file suffix might.
It could be a 'difficult' form of Matroska file. FYI Matroska is just a container like MOV or AVI, and some mkv have the video encoded with Real Video Codec (RV9 RV10). Perian+QT can't decode this, but VLC will play .mkv files just fine on OS X, as long as they don't use H.264!
It's a bit of a lottery until Matroska decide to support the Apple platform. I have found this:

But there may be another workaround: 1. Get Info the mkv file
2. Change to extension to wmv. Save as wmv and that could work better.

Change Icon missing in the existing SC in ITS URL

Hi Gurus
User is trying to change some details in existing SC, user is able to find the SC in Check status and clicked the details button it will display the document item details, but the Change Icon is missed for the user.
Until last week, user was able to make changes before the cart was approved, also I verified the change details in SU01D, and nothing has been changed.
Also I verified my user ID in testing client, I am able to see the change Icon .

Please check the value of the parameter BBP_WFL_SECURITY in trascn PFCG for the EMPLOYEE role. See whether that is set to value low/medium/high so that the employee sees the CHANGE button.
