Changing icons in dolphon file manager

I am a little lost.  I recently installed the oxyfaenza icon theme on my kde desktop.  It is looking great except for the fact that the split view in dolphin file manager stays the same as with the oxygen icon theme.  I have tried changing the icon via configure toolbars dialog in doplhin but the icon reverts back to the oxygen icon after one use.  Does anyone know of a solution, any help would be appreciated.

Was you able to resolve above issue , if yes please let me know. I am experiencing the similar problem of loosing connection frequently with the network connection.

  • Changing Icons on Adobe files.

    I have over 2000 adobe files which consist of documents that have been archived, needs to be archived and some scanned but they all adobe files. What I need to do is to either to change the colors on the documents so I will need either 3 different icons or 3 different colors to highlight the document status for the files.
    If I change the icon on the properties in Windows that changes all the PDF files on my computer so that does not solve my problem. And also I have 2000 files so what I would need is something that I can use by just using the Shift key to select the range of files that I need and changing them from there.

    The solution I require probably will not be an Adobe solution but the problem I am presenting is with Adobe and I am assuming someone might have had the same experience as I have had.
    At the moment the only other solution I have thought of is to add a star to the front of the file names but I am hoping to get a much more visible solution.

  • Changing the default file manager in XFCE

    How would I go about using Nautilus as the default file manager in XFCE instead of Thunar? I know it can be started up with 'nautilus --no-desktop', but how do I make this the default when opening folders from the desktop, menus, etc..?
    The main reason I want to do this is because Thunar doesn't seem to remember a folders last setting. For example, there are folders which I would like to permanently view as a list, sorted by date; but there are plenty of other folders where this is not suitable. Nautilus remembers settings for each folder, Thunar doesn't, and it gets annoying changing the view mode each time. Also network browsing is easier in Nautilus, and I also like the way it tells you how fast file transfers are going.
    Thanks very much,

    Well, it might be considered a dirty hack but it has worked for me in gnome before so it should also work in xfce.  Just edit the thunar.desktop file in /usr/share/applications and replace the Exec=thunar to Exec=nautilus --no-desktop and save the file.  Then any time thunar is launched, nautilus will be launched instead.
    Otherwise, you can edit the menu with the menu editor and change the File manager command and do the same in the panel icon properties.  Both methods will work.

  • Good file-manager for OpenBox? (with icons)

    I tried rox with the magickthumbnails and videothumbmails, but havent got it working yet.
    I am now trying thunar, but it has dull generic icons.  Everything looks like a piece of paper.  I'm sure it'd look good if I was running XFCE.
    Is there a standard/common file-manager for use with openbox?  Preferably one with icons for different file-types.

    the default layout is truely ugly. but you can change everything.
    i've changed the rox icons by hand:
    in my ~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine:
    # rox-filer toolbar icons
    pixmap_path "~/.icons/panel_icons/icons_2"
    style "normal" {
    stock["gtk-close"] = {{"close.png"}}
    # stock["gtk-close"] = {{"exit.png"}}
    stock["gtk-go-up"] = {{"1uparrow.png"}}
    stock["gtk-home"] = {{"gohome.png"}}
    stock["gtk-refresh"] = {{"redo.png"}}
    stock["gtk-zoom-in"] = {{"add.png"}}
    stock["gtk-zoom-fit"] = {{"stop.png"}}
    stock["gtk-jump-to"] = {{"bookmarks.png"}}
    # stock["gtk-sort-ascending"] = {{"bottom.png"}}
    # stock["gtk-help"] = {{"help-icon.png"}}
    stock["rox-show-hidden"] = {{"filter.png"}}
    stock["rox-show-details"] = {{"view_tree.png"}}
    # stock["rox-select"] = {{"select-icon.png"}}
    widget "*" style "normal"
    it's quite self explanatory .

  • Xfce4-power-manager & change icon in Xfce4 panel

    Hello!
    I'm trying to change the appearance for the latest xfce4-power-manager (v1.4.1-2). I use elementary Xfce icons. The former xfce4-power-manager was using the correct (simple black & white) elementary icon in the notification area in the Xfce4 panel. With the latest version, where xfce4-power-manager has to be added manually to the panel, it is using some kind of colourful icon.
    Is there some way to tell the program to use the elementary icons instead? I've already tried to edit /usr/share/applications/xfce4-power-manager-settings.desktop. But no dice.
    Thanks in advance.

    Do you know the location of both, the simple black & white icon and the colourful one?
    If you do, you can try the following. Backup the original colourful one and paste a copy of the one you want to use in the same location and with the same name.
    Afterwards check if the result is the one you want.
    I have myself come across the situation of wanting to change an icon through the .desktop file but in the end it seems that some icons, even in this case maybe?, are hardcoded and can't be changed through a .desktop file.
    More than willing for someone to proof me wrong though!

  • Change icon for file type

    how to change icon for all of the tile type? not just one, but all!

    Changing the file icon will not enable Quicktime to play Matroska files. Changing the file suffix might.
    It could be a 'difficult' form of Matroska file. FYI Matroska is just a container like MOV or AVI, and some mkv have the video encoded with Real Video Codec (RV9 RV10). Perian+QT can't decode this, but VLC will play .mkv files just fine on OS X, as long as they don't use H.264!
    It's a bit of a lottery until Matroska decide to support the Apple platform. I have found this:
    http://mkv4mac.free.fr/index.php?lang=en&p=lec
    which may help.
    But there may be another workaround: 1. Get Info the mkv file
    2. Change to extension to wmv. Save as wmv and that could work better.
    Or this link may be helpful:
    http://www.squidoo.com/mkv-converter-mac
    Recently, a poster (ZachP14) suggested this:
    "There's a program called Plex that runs .mkv files awesome on my 2.0 ghz macbook."

    Maybe worth a try?

  • How do I change the size of file menu's and tool icons in Photoshop' opening page.

    How do I increase or change the size of file menu's and tool icons on the opening page/worksheet of Photoshop? The File Menu drop down commands read properly at a comfortable size. I am not sure how I accomplished this, but everything I have tried has no effect on the other page items.

    Hello, you can change most of Photoshop's interface text by going to preferences>interface>UI font size.
    For the size of the top menus and the whole interface, there is no function to do that for the moment. I suggest to vote on this thread: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/problem_with_hi_res_monitors

  • Change all icons of a file type in Yosemite?

    Hello,
    I just upgraded from a early 2011 MBP running Mavericks to a new Retina MBP running Yosemite. I did not use Migration Assistant as I wanted a fresh start and instead have copied over all of my data from a clone manually. I use Parallels 10 to run a Windows 7 VM to run some software, including MS Office, etc. Since my upgrade, all of my Office file icons (.docx, .xlsx, etc.) are the generic white/gray page with the turned down upper-right corner. I set the default program for all to be the correct application within my VM, but now would like to change the file icons for all files of a type to something more meaningful. Somehow, I had that on my previous MBP, but can't remember how that happened... Without having to individually change each icon for 10,000+ files, is there an easy way to batch change all Excel file types (.xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .csv, etc.) to a single icon?
    Thanks in advance.

    Same thing happening to me.  I've fixed disk permissions, for what that's worth.  Still have generic icons for office docs.  It's always something....

  • Trouble changing icon in any application, file, etc etc

    I've followed the instructions to change an icon and have done it before with success. But it's not working anymore? Here are the steps i'm doing.... Am I missing something?
    1. right click on icon that i want to use as the "new icon"
    (i believe this is the problem... preview.app is opening the icon. with in get info, the "icon" at the top is just your generic "jpeg" icon. In the "preview" window towards the bottom shows a picture of the icon)
    2. select get info
    3. right click on "icon" at top of preview window
    4. cmd c to copy (also tried copy from file drop down)
    5. repeated step on target app to chang icon
    6. cmnd v to paste (also tried to paste from file drop down)
    doesn't change the icon on the target app or file etc etc....
    signed.... confused?

    OK, try doing both a SMC and PRAM reset and see if either takes care of the problem.

    SMC & PRAM Resets
    There are a couple of things you can do before heading off to the Apple store, a SMC and PRAM resets. To do these:
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Release the power button.
    • Attach the computers power cable.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
    If it still doesn't work then try restarting in Safe Mode, this will clear out some caches which have become corrupted. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455

  • Change default file manager in linux

    After upgrading to Firefox 10.0 for Linux "Open containing folder" in downloads opens in nautilus and not my default file manager.
    I'm not finding how to change this behavior.

    File associations are a mess right now. Many programs (Opera included) handle them their own way. There's a project underway to handle associations in a standard way (see MIME actions, shared MIME info, desktop entries, all at freedesktop.org), but not all software uses it; KDE is a notable holdout (3 at least, not sure about 4).
    Note that that first spec link, MIME actions, is currently "in the requirements-gathering / early-planning stages." That means there is no spec for that. As I said, a mess.
    Most likely, Opera and Thunderbird detected you were running KDE and special-cased their association-finder to ask KDE instead. Now that you aren't, they're falling back to their normal behavior: use the first .desktop file to claim the MIME type. As I recall, both applications offer ways to specify associations in their preferences; you might just want to stick to that for now. Or use a desktop environment.
    The kernel-level MIME support is designed to allow execution of strange files using interpreters. For example, you could directly execute Windows applications (as in "./notepad.exe") by setting the kernel to "interpret" application/exe files using wine. No applications use it for opening files.

  • [SOLVED] small tango icons in file manager

    I've installed the tango icons from AUR. But the problem is the size of the icons is too small in the file manager i used (both thunar and rox) even though i've zoom it. I think the picture below will describe it better:

    I've done a search in this forum. Someone said something about recompiling the tango icons. Done that but the icons are still small. Anybody has any idea?
    Thanks!

  • Permz - Quickly change file permissions in any file manager

    Designed to be integrated into any file manager, permz is a bash script which presents a GUI menu.  You can use it to quickly change file permissions and ownership as a normal user or as root, and delete files as root.  I wrote this because I have yet to see a file manager that isn't cumbersome for this - the mechanism is usually buried on a second tab of the Properties window, and changing permissions often involves multiple clicks in a grid. To change the owner of a file, you need to type the username. And if the file is owned by root, you can't do anything.
    permz --help
    Presents a GUI menu for changing file permissions/ownership. May be run
    as a normal user or root.
    Requires: zenity gksu
    Optional: sudo (recommended to prevent multiple root password prompts)
    Usage: permz FILE [...]
    MENU FUNCTIONS:
    rwxrwxrwx Sets file(s) to given permissions
    Sticky Clear/Set Performs "chmod -t" or +t to clear or set the sticky
    bit. You may select to clear/set sticky in addition
    to changing other permissions.
    Recursive go-rxw "chmod -R go-rxw" on file(s) recursively, denying
    access to non-owners
    Recursive go-w "chmod -R go-w" on file(s) recursively, denying write
    to non-owners
    Recursive ugo+rX "chmod -R ugo+rX" giving read access to all. Also
    sets +x for directories and executables.
    Recursive ugo+w "chmod -R ugo+w" on file(s), giving write to all
    (You may select several compatible recursive functions above at once)
    Owner USER As ROOT Sets ownership to USER:USER as root
    DELETE As ROOT Deletes file(s) as root. Must be used alone or with
    "Perform Recursively" (to delete directories - USE
    WITH CAUTION). Not available if permz is run as root.
    Perform As ROOT Run as root to change selected permissions.
    (Use of root is automatic when changing ownership)
    Perform Recursively Adds -R to all chmod, chown, and delete commands to
    descend into subdirectories. Use in conjunction with
    any other functions. (Recursion is automatic for
    "Recursive" functions above)
    Current su command is set to: gksu -gS
    If you're somewhat familiar with bash, adding additional options or changing the existing ones is straightforward.
    I have tested it pretty thoroughly but if you do encounter anything amiss please let me know.
    More details at http://igurublog.wordpress.com/downloads/script-permz/
    And in the AUR at http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36978
    Instructions for integrating permz into PCManFM-Mod are here.

    rransom wrote:Recursive ugo+rX would be more useful than "Recursive ugo+r (dirs +x)".  (The +X feature of chmod is available at least in GNU coreutils, FreeBSD, and POSIX 2003.)
    Done - thanks for the tip.  I also left the old code active in there with just the menu option disabled, so if anyone wants it the other way or wants both it's easy to enable.  The difference is that the old way won't make any files +x, just dirs.
    permz doesn't provide every possible setting of permissions, just common ones, so you may want to customize it.  But I used to have these as user actions when I used Krusader and I found these were the handy ones, at least for me.
