Changing Icons & Reverting to Old?

Can someone please explain how to change icons on both the dock and desktop as well as a good site with cool new icons?
Also - if I change an icon, how do I go about reverting to the old one?

click on the icon or folder...
Press Apple+i
The window will pop up
Find the icon you WANT
Do the same - select it, press Apple+i
Then in the top left corner you will see a mini icon. Click that so it's selected.
Hit Apple+C
Then select the icon you want to replace. Click on that so it's selected
Hit Apple+V
If it doesn't show up, just do it again.
To REMOVE an icon - same thing - press apple+i on the file you want to remove the icon on
Click the little icon in the top left corner so it's selected
Hit Apple+X
The icon reverts to the ORIGINAL icon.
As mentioned above, there are other programs, that you pay for, that can do this for you automatically, and can change icons within say browsers and such (like your little finder icons, etc). It's cool for about 10 minutes, but I don't think it's worth the money.
Make sure to check out apple.com downloads, iconfactory, and many other websites for apple icons, there are a TON out there.

Changing icons back to the old ones

I just updated my Ipad to the new system and the new look is VERY disturbing. How can I change back to the old look or uninstal the new system?

Weird: why would a network drive with the name "time-capsule-de" and an icon of an old-fashioned PC monitor suddenly appear on my home network?
It happened shortly after I'd set up a new Time Capsule with our iMac and had transferred the configuration for it over from my old Time Capsule.
I'd just taken the old Time Capsule into another room and powered it up with my MacBook to confirm that Airport Utility's wiping of its settings hadn't affected the old Time Machine backups still stored in it.
I was in the process of tinkering to see how I could use the old Time Capsule, when Airport Utility offered to "extend" my home network, so I tried that setting, and then got a warning that the old Time Capsule and its wifi networks were not yet secure or private. While I was working to fix that, I noticed that in the Finder sidebar and in my Network settings, this mysterious "time-capsule-de" (with an odd old-fashioned PC monitor for an icon) had appeared. I tried to click on it, but could not access it. I also could not eject it. I shut down my old Time Capsule and my MacBook. When I turned the laptop back on, "time-capsule-de" was gone.
What do you all make of that? Should I worry about the security of my home network? I live in an apartment development, so there are more than a dozen stray wifi signals pouring in from other units.
I'd welcome any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

What is the name of your old Time Capsule? Did you change the name to the new one?
It appears in Finder .. that is to be expected.. it is after all a network drive.. and it has PC symbol more than likely because you are using Mavericks which defaults to SMB network.. ie the computer thinks it is a windows computer.
There is nothing bad or sinister going on.. but you certainly need to ensure your own wireless network is secure..
That is otherwise all fine.
If the TC shows up again, check that it is also in the airport utility and check its MAC address with the label on the bottom.. It will show in the Utility .. then you can compare and check you are reading the right thing.

Changing icons in dolphon file manager

I am a little lost. I recently installed the oxyfaenza icon theme on my kde desktop. It is looking great except for the fact that the split view in dolphin file manager stays the same as with the oxygen icon theme. I have tried changing the icon via configure toolbars dialog in doplhin but the icon reverts back to the oxygen icon after one use. Does anyone know of a solution, any help would be appreciated.

Was you able to resolve above issue , if yes please let me know. I am experiencing the similar problem of loosing connection frequently with the network connection.

NM changes icons

Yes, I checked the forum and saw lots of comments about NM changing Icons. Well I uninstalled NM from all machines but it appears that NM uninstaller leaves a lot of junk. I reinstalled it after I turned off all my other machines and to my supprise it showed all the machines that were turned off and the one with the incorrect Icon. Well if all the other machines were turned off I would suppose that they should not show in the map.
I am stumped and guess it was a poor idea to install NM and expect it to show correctly.

Well hows this. When I starter up my system (2 workstations, 2 cameras, 1 server and one wireless device) all reported correctly by NM. Its as if the entire system reverted back to the orginial systerm and my first installation of NM. I have changed nothing in the system or NM.

How do I revert to old version of itunes

I have downloaded new version of I tunes but it doesn't work properly with downloaded cd audiobooks. I cannot join tracks and mark as audio books. I want to revert to old version of itunes. I have an old ipod and I think the new version does not work properly with it.

The way iTunes 11 treats audiobooks hasn't changed, but you may have to hunt a little for some of the menu options... You may also find Audiobooks on iPods useful.
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

Changed icons

After installing Adobe Reader almost all my desktop and taskbar icons have changed to Adobe icons. What's occurring?

I have the opposite problem. I installed Adobe Reader XI, and it it works great. The installer pinned the usual Adobe Reader icon (stylized "A" on a red background) to the desktop. So far, so good. But when I right-clicked on this icon and selected "Pin to Start Menu" Adobe usurps the shortcut icon from an old program (WordPerfect 12) for the Start Menu shortcut The text on the shortcut appears correctly (Adobe Reader XI) but the icon is wrong.
Reinstalling the program did nothing to resolve the problem. This is all happening on WIndows 8.1, by the way.
Any ideas?

CANNOT change Icons in the dock or other places like I used to in 10.5.8

I found a nice set of icons that I would like to set to my MBP that I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. So far I really haven't had any real problems that I wasn't able to work through except for this one. I've even opened up the "Info" box and changed the sharing and the permissions and changed them so that as an administrator I could change the icon but no luck! On my G5 tower I have no problem at all using the standard procedure but when I apply it to my laptop it just doesn't want to work. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I've been playing around with that problem for a bit now: Apple changed it with Leopard and Snow Leopard and it's not as easy as it was with Tiger... but I found a way around it:
When you control click on any of your folders (to the right of the System Prefs icon), you need to have the following checked:
Sort by: Name
Display as: Folder
View content as: List
Having changed icons dozens of times, I found that any other setting will keep your pretty icon within a Finder window, but as soon as move it to the Dock, it'll revert to the stock view.
So, once you choose above settings, go ahead and change an icon on one of your folders and then drag it into the dock. It should work - mine have been there for 2 weeks now.

How to revert to old site name and link?

I just created a disaster. I had several videos pages published and the ugly links are connected to an email autoresponder. I recently tried to clean up the title of the links from within iWeb by changing the default site name and the result was the URL for the links on each page were changed. Now the old links to the site doesn't work cuz the links are different cuz of the new site name. How can I revert back to the old name of the site so my old backlinks to the site work?

Change the site name back to the original in iWeb and then republish the whole site.

It won't affect any photos in photo stream but any photos within the back up itself will go.

If you're using the Adjust editing pane there is no Done button. When you done with the editing just click on the Photos button at the top or use one of the arrows at the top to advance to the next photo. No done button required.

settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
You can't merge apple id.

Try a soft reset - press the home and power bottons and keep them pressed until the Apple logo comes on. Then see if you can access Settings.

I need to add "change" icon in the table control. I added it but when I click on it is not working.
My requirement is that when I run my custom report, all the fields should be shown is in display mode. Then when I click on the "change" icon, all fields should be enabled for change.
I have already referred to the standard progs BCALV_* but it does not have the "change" icon.
plz give me any reference prg or sample code.

Track the function code of change icon in user command. if it is clicked then put a flag eq X.
check that flag in PBO, if it is eq X then screen-input = 1 or vice versa.
try this code:
in PBO:
