Changing iMac screen saver

I have one of the newer iMacs.
I was using the screen saver with the colorful lines swirling around.
I wanted to see what the slides screen savers would look like so i switched to that.
Now i want to go back to the swirling colorful lines but I don't see any way of doing it.
Anyone can help?
thanks!!

teresita,
I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8,  hopefully you can use this information with your OS X.
In system preferences, click on "Desktop and screen saver">at the top of the window click on the screensaver button.
You will see a menu of different screen saver items> click on "flurry,"  which is the closest thing to the swirling lines you mentioned.  Right now you are probably using "Pictures/shuffle."

  • IMac freezes when changing the screen saver

    Hi all:
    I originally posted this in the "Using Mac OS X" forum (iMac freezes when changing the screen saver, but thought I'd post here as well since the issue arises on a freshly installed OS.
    We've got three 350MHz slot-loading G3 iMacs (with 512MB RAM) which we're planning to use for basic word processing. The install of Panther (10.3.5 from black retail cds with 10-seat volume license) went fine on the first two. Ran the updates to 10.3.9, installed MS Office 2004, everything working great (they're a little slow, but after all, they are only 350 MHz).
    On the third, the first problem we noticed was the computer would lock up whenever we changed the screen saver from the default (Flurry; Computer Name also works). It continues to do so even after: repair permissions; repair disk; Disk Warrior; reset pram; reset nvram; reset pmu; change RAM; change hard drive; erase hard drive; write zeros to hard drive; reinstall with different set of retail CDs; trash preferences, and delete cache files. (If there's anything I've left out, it's in the other thread).
    Now we've noticed that we can't create any new user accounts. We've thought about putting this one in production, just warning the user that they can't change the screen saver, but god only knows what will turn up next.
    I'm starting to think it's a logic board issue, but could it be that selective? And would you see the same problem with another hard drive and different install discs? Am I missing something?
    BTW, there's a crash log with the other thread.

    Dual 2.0 GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I'm going to mark this one as answered.
    I removed the hard drive from the iMac, and put it into another 350 MHz iMac, and everything works great. I can select any screen saver without having it freeze, create new accounts, whatever my little heart desires.
    In checking the history of the problem iMac, there was an assortment of problems with booting (both from the hard drive and from the CD-ROM drive) which were never satisfactorily resolved. The problems just seemed to go away after sitting unplugged for a few days, as much as for anything we actually did to it.
    Now we just have to decide whether it's worth fixing, or using it somewhere in a non-critical role with OS 9 installed.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  • Can I change the screen saver on my apple tv? or change the display to the awesome equalizer while i stream my music?

    I am trying to find a way to change the screen saver for my apple tv while I stream my music. Anyone have a solution? Besides my photos, can i show the awesome equilizer? Or can I show the album artwork screensaver that the macs have? I feel like this feature is much needed on the Apple TV while I stream my music to the Apple TV 2nd generation!

    Hi byee322!
    If you are using devices that meets these criteria:
    iPhone 4S (or later), iPad 2 (or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation)1
    Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)2
    Wi-Fi (802.11a/g/n) network
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
    Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
    MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
    MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
    you may want to try using a feature called Airplay Mirroring to show whatever you'd like on the screen while your music is playing. We have a couple of articles about that online that can tell you more information about Airplay Mirroring. The first one here is about using Mountain Lion to mirror the display from your Mac onto the TV to which the Apple TV is connected, and can be found here:
    About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion

    The second is an article with more information about Airplay Mirroring in iOS, and can be found here:

  • Not letting me change my screen saver

    Every time I open up system preferences and click on "Desktop & Screen Saver" and then click on the "Screen Saver" tab... the system pref. freezes and closes unexpectedly
    It lets me change my background but whenever i try to change my screen saver it keeps "Quitting unexpectedly"
    then it gives me the option to reopen system pref., report the message to apple (which i have done) or close it... then when I click reopen, i click again on desktop and screen saver and it freezes again and another error message opens up and says
    the application system preferences quit unexpectedly after it was reopened... and i have a new set of options
    Close, Try Again, or Report
    So i click try again and it does actually let me access the screen saver tab... and i change it from what it is now which is the iTunes artwork
    and when i click close or quit system pref. another window pops up that says...
    New settings have been created for this application.. do you wish to use these settings from now on? and so i click "Use New Settings" rather than "Use original settings"
    but then when i start my screensaver... it STILL is my original screen saver that i had before...
    so WHY won't it let me change it
    I have a MacBook Pro 15" glossy, 160 GB 2.4GHZ
    i bought it in July so its still brand new so what is the problem?
    Help would be MUCH appreciated

  • How to Change the Screen Saver Settings to Mystify in Windows 7 using vbscript?

    HI All,
    How to Change the  Screen Saver Settings to Mystify in Windows 7 using vbscript?
    Thanks
    Divakar

    First: What is a GPO?
    Second: jrv, that was not too helpful in general. someone should do some actual code.
    Bob Blork - Mark as answer if it helped!
    This is a forum for technicians and not for home users.  GPO is what technical people use to manage Windows. THe script to do this is in the link I posted - how is that not helpful?
    I know this is all over your head.  I am curious as to why you would respond in a technical forum to a question you do not understand.
    We do not provide free scripts.  We also will point users at correct answers.
    This is not a forum for homw users or for simple support questions.  It is also a thread that has been  answered for a long time.  Perhaps you should start a new thread if you have an actual question about scripting.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • When i try to change my screen saver on my Mac 10.7.2 Lion, i hear a clicking noise on my computer and then it gets hung. Please help

    When i try to change my screen saver on my Mac 10.7.2, i hear a clicking noise on my computer and then it gets hung. Please help. Off late my computer is taking too long to open documents etc.

    If you hear a clicking noise, as in mechanical I'd be thinking along the lines of failing hard drive. Especially as you mention other problems.
    Boot from another disk if you have one and do a verify disk or use somethinglike Disk Warrior or Tech Tool.

  • Can I change the screen saver pictures on Apple TV?

    Can I change the screen saver pictures on Apple TV?

    Yes. Use an iPhone browser, such as iExplorer, to access your iPhone's file system. The screensaver photos are stored here;
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleTV.framework/DefaultAnimalPhotos
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleTV.framework/DefaultFlowerPhotos
    Once you locate these files, you can replace the photos with your own or add more to the folders. Do not change the name of the the folder.

    I would like to change the pictures that pop up on my apple tv screen saver when I am listening to music.  How can I do this?

  • I cant change my screen saver pics Desktop

    Help! My sceen saver defaulted back to apples own pics without warning. Was using own pictures from i Photo. If I go into screen saver it just hangs & comes up with the coloured wheel. Have to use force Quite to get out of prog. Nothing has been changed on the computer.

    First follow the instructions in this support article.
    If an iPhoto or Aperture library is the source of your desktop pictures, it may need to be rebuilt, or you may need to update the application to the latest version.
    Otherwise, continue as below.
    Back up all data.
    In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
    from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
    Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
    and move the following item to the Desktop:
    Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the item on the Desktop back where it came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the item.

  • Changes in Screen Saver Options?

    Hello,
    I just replaced my older Macbook Pro (about 3 years old) with a new Macbook Pro with Retina.  Anywho, I am trying to set up my stuff and on my old macbook I had a screen saver that started off as one picture and then moved out adding more and more of my pictures to a collage of pictures that would become another picture...I can't find it but I am not sure if that is my user error or if they took away my screen saver option

    Maverick has butchered the screensaver, agreed. I can't even bring up any of the photo options, oragami, shifting tiles, sliding panels, what have you. When I try, it will instantly go into the spinning rainbow, and it 'never' stops spinning. Please apple fix this.

  • Changing the Screen Saver for the Login Window

    I've found how I can change the WALLPAPER for the LOGIN Window.
    How can I change the screensaver from the default to one that I have installed?
    TECH INFO:
    OS X 10.6.2
    Admin account has desired screensaver loaded and activated.
    The screensaver I'm wanting to have as the login window screensaver is MARINE AQUARIUM 3.0 (414)
    THANKS!

    ok, what you suggested definitely does NOT work as is. what does work as I found by doing a little googling is adding two entries specifically concerning the screensaver over login window to /library/preferences/com.apple.screensaver.plist. Namely, you need to add the keys loginWindowIdleTime and loginWindowModulePath. no other new entries are needed.
    for example, the following/library/preferences/com.apple.screensaver.plist works for me.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>loginWindowIdleTime</key>
    <integer>60</integer>
    <key>loginWindowModulePath</key>
    <string>/System/Library/Screen Savers/Nature Patterns.slideSaver</string>
    <key>moduleDict</key>
    <dict>
    <key>moduleName</key>
    <string>Skyrocket</string>
    <key>path</key>
    <string>System/Library/Screen Savers/Nature Patterns.slideSaver</string>
    <key>type</key>
    <integer>0</integer>
    </dict>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    so far i have not been able to make it work with any 3rd party screensavers even placed in /system/library/screensavers. launchd throws up an error when I try. still, this is MUCH better than nothing so thank you for letting us know about this.

  • IMac Screen Saver - Strange Images Appear?

    I have my iMac set up to "show" pictures like a slide show. Every few pictures, there is a fuzzy usually multicolored "image' that appears like it is inserted over a valid picture . . it then fades away . . .I know these fuzzy "images" are somewhere on my HD, but I cannot find them. I would like to delete them as they have no value and override a perfectly good picture. My wife has the same issue on her older G4 iBook.
    Any ideas on how to delete those images?

    They are probably icons or some other low-rez images which is why they show up the way they do.
    The slide show, i believe, shows all your images, so they come along. They may not even have the standard image extensions, jpg, etc., but some other rare or special image extension.
    You might find them by searching for all images using Finder, one main folder at a time.
    I am not sure if the activity logs would list the various images displayed during the screensaver, but it is also worth a look.
    Someone recently posted the exact same issue which is why I remember it.
    Not that the search function is back you can search this board, going back only a few months for a similar topic.
    Actually I just found it:

    It might be of use.
