Changing info on Movies results in significant disk activity

iTunes 9.0.2, OS X 10.6.2, QuickTime Player 7.6.3
I ham adding movies to iTunes and whenever I change metadata (Genre or Name) for the first time after it's added, iTunes does something with the file that takes a LONG time. Subsequent changes happen quickly as you'd expect.
How do I prevent this from happening? These are old movies I'm using QuickTime Player to convert to AppleTV format - so Quicktime is taking each movie and converting it, then I manually add it to iTunes. I would like to batch convert or update the movies to allow me to make Genre or Name changes quickly without waiting for iTunes to do whatever it's doing.

Unfortunately I think that the first time you add metadata to a movie in iTunes after it's been added it makes a copy of the movie, adding the metadata to the copy, and removing the old version once the metadata is in place. I'm not 100% positive of this, but I ran into the same thing a while back and watched it closely and it appeared that this is what it was doing . . .
Unfortunately also ... my solution was to stop using iTunes for video -- luckily I don't have an AppleTV nor was a ton of my content purchased from the ITMS so I could do that. If you're not using an AppleTV for playback and your content is not locked to iTunes DRM I would suggest looking into something else to playback your video ... I use Plex and am MUCH happier with it than I was with iTunes and Frontrow.

How to move Tablespace from One disk group to another disk group in RAC

I have 11gR2 RAC env on Linux.
As ofnow I have problem with disk group. I have 3 disk group which is almost full - 98%. I have added one NEW disk group and want to move some of the Tablespace(TBS) from OLD disk group to NEW diskgroup and make some free space in OLD disk group.
Can any one suggest me how to move TBS from one disk group to another disk grup without shutting down the instance.
DB is in Noarchive mode.

1. You database is in noarchivelog mode
2. You're taking tablespace offline
3. Suppose you're moving a file of size 10GB(or any larger filesize) to another disk group
4. Now after moving the file, you're trying to bring the tablespace online............NOW
tablespace will need recovery. if the required data is inside the SGA then it is ok. But if the data has been flushed, then?
if step 2 and 3 has taken significant time, then most probably you'll not be able to bring that tablespace online.

Export to Quicktime Movie Results in Aspect Ratio Distortion

All of my original footage was shot in miniDV. I have created a sequence with the following settings:
Frame size: 720 x 480
Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
Pixel Aspect: NTSC - CCIR 601
Vid rate: 29.97 fps
Ultimately the sequence needs to go to DVD with a standard 4:3 aspect ratio. To export, I am using:
File > Export > QuickTime Movie...
I have tried using several different settings including:
Apple Pro Res 422 NTSC 48 kHz
Apple Pro Res 422 NTSC (HQ) 48 kHz
Apple Pro Res 960x720 30p 48 kHz
DV NTSC 48 kHz
etc...
All settings yield the same result: a slightly squeezed aspect ratio. At first, I thought that this might simply be the fact that I was playing back files in QuickTime which uses square pixels I believe. But in both DVD Studio Pro and iDVD, the simulation shows the same effect. (By the way, Finder's "Get Info" reads the resulting Final Cut Pro Movie File dimensions 720x486.)
I'm fairly new to FCP so I'm hoping there is something obvious that I have missed. Can anyone explain what I need to do to get the video to DVD without a distorted aspect ratio?
(Incidentally, I have managed to export using quicktime conversion with no problem. But I need the export to be a Final Cut Pro Movie File so as to maintain chapter markers, etc.)

Hi David, I know this was discussed in you posting already but I just wanted to make sure I had it clear. I have a 4:3 film and I've exported as a quicktime movie with current settings, which should be 4:3 and found that the image when played back in quicktime, looks horizontally stretched. Almost as if quicktime is trying to play it back as a 16:9 image. I think this is the same issue the other fellow was having but I just wanted to be clear. You're saying that the 4:3 image distortion is perfectly normal when played back in quicktime on a computer screen and that the export will look fine when put to DVD or sent to a monitor? I just wanted to make sure because this problem is freaking me out and I don't want to deliver a distorted image to my client. Could you also explain briefly why this happens with quicktime export and not quicktime conversion and what causes quicktime to distort the 4:3 image? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying some files are on another drive?
If so you can make more space on your internal drive...

The date is retained in 10.4.8 here, on both a copy and a move to an external firewire drive.

Should cancelled mailbox moves result in any moved mail data removed from target server?

I was moving mailboxes from 1 DB to another. 3 out of 120 were left running for 12 hours; they were the biggest ones and it was very slow to process the items. There were also reports of slowness on the server so I had no choice but to cancel the moves.
My question is should cancelled mailbox moves result in any moved mail data being removed from the target database? It doesn't appear that my disk as increased in space again so I'm wondering if it's there as whitespace maybe? There is an event logged to say
the mailbox has been deleted from the target.
Would appreciate if someone can clear this up and possibly explain exactly what occurs during this type of scenario.

In Exchange 2000, 2003 and 2007 mailboxes become unavailable during movement, when a mailbox move takes place, the mailbox isn't actually moved, it's just copied to the destination location. Once that copy has finished, AD is updated to point to the new location
and the old mailbox is deleted from the source EDB file.
The most different between Exchange 2010 and legacy version in move mailbox is that allows end-users to be online in their email accounts. On completing the move users just needs to reopen their Outlook clients.
Mailbox Move Requests are a new feature set of Exchange 2010 and requires running a series of Cmdlets to perform asynchronous online mailbox moves with the help of a service agent called Mailbox Replication Service (MRS). MRS is available on all Exchange 2010

Change of personnel subarea results in change of legal person

Hi Experts.
I have search in this forum after answer on this question, but haven't find any.
To start with, we have implemented CE.
My problem is that if we have hired a person on wrong date and want to change the date to an earlier date, infotype 0000 is OK, but infotype 0001 will not be changed.
The error message says: Change of personnel subarea results in change of legal person.
I have checked the table V_001P_G and it seems to be right. I can't find any fault.
I have tried all other suggestions I have found in this forum such as, Change and Execute info group when running Change entry/leaving date in PA30. Executing the programs RPUFIXDS and RPUP0001 with negative result.
So if there is anyone who can explain to me what this error message actually means, and of course have a solution, I would be really happy.

after implementing, Kindly use transaction PA41.
The 'Correct action' function (PA41) offers a special functionality for
hiring and termination events only: When changing the begin date of
the event the begin date of all infotype records belonging to the
infogroup assigned will be shifted accordingly.

I create background job for transaction mb52 and I need to transport result's automatically to my hard disk.
Is there any simple way to solve this problem?
I create a hard disk printer,but it dosen't work automatically, It work if I print results directly in transaction MB52.
Or how I can make query which is same info that transaction MB52, What tabels I need to use.
If I use query by using background job this hard disc printer works.

Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
If you want to back up the Photos only:
Export them using the File -> Export command.

Changing Info Rec Prices when Contract Exists....no warning?

Does anyone know a way to initiate a warning (or hard stop) in ME12 (Change Info Record) when a user is changing a price when a Contract exist for that material and vendor in the info record?
The Superuser's goal: Stop other users from changing the Info record price when a Contract already in the system exists with a agreed price. How to put a hard stop? I know for a fact, there's a msg that compare's Material Std Cost with the Purchase Price and gives warning, but that doesn't service this purpose as Superuser want to block the Info Rec being changed if a Cotract Exists.
Quest 2:
Also, when a Contract's Price is changed (in ME32K) it will NOT change the Info Rec (created earlier may be manually or as a result of RFQ price selection) Price, eventhog the Contract "Info Update" indicator is set.

Asnwer 1 . you can make the message an error message, by this your problem will be solved and no one enter the same again....
Answer 2. In the std sap system, PO price doesn't get updated in the inforecord, but the PO price history gets updated....
This may be because, if you make the one PO and change it....and after this if you wanna make the other po with the last ie. ORIGINAL price...then we you use the inforecord to see the original price...while on the other hand you can also see the PO price history from ME1P for the same...

I confirmed settings on AppleTV and reset the unit without any result. iTunes indicates I have 21 hours left on the rental. I would like to be able to finish the movie and not have to rent it again.
Any thoughts? Anything that needs to be done in Samsung TV settings?

How did you verify network was fine?
Netflix adapts to the network whereas iTunes needs a consistently solid connection. What other content did you try?
What is your current connection via speedtest
Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report of the network
Make sure DNS is set to automatic.

Can no longer change info in itunes

I just got a new imac and successfully moved the music over from my old mac. I see, however, that I cannot change any info anymore. I highlight a song, do a 'get info', click info tab, and all fields are inaccessible. I am unsure of whether this has been so since I started the new mac or not (only 2 days).
There was a previous mention of this problem in this forum which I found using Search, but it was unanswered.

I replied a few minutes ago that I had read/write permissions over my itunes music folder. But further snooping around showed me that I could indeed change info over most songs, just not the specific ones I got hung up on yesterday. The culprit was that the offending songs were all in a folder called "unknown" or "unknown artist". both those folders allow only Read rights.
Now I just have to figure out why that is and how to change it. Thanks, Colin, for pointing me in the right direction.

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!
