Changing input driver in GB preferences
I want to record on GB through a mixer which is connected to my computer through the line-in port. When I go to GB Preferences and go to the Audio/MIDI pane, the only drop down option available to me is Built-In audio. In the past there was a Line-In option, which seems to have disappeared from GB but is still there in my System Preferences.
Does anyone know how to get the Line-In option back for GB? I also heard about something called "trashing files" within a program. Does anyone know about that & would that solve my problem?
HT, thanks for your interest. I've tried with the pads both on and off, but to no effect. Another point of info: I used the Fastrack with my old Dell system, and it worked normally. It really seems to be internal to the MacBook, since the meter seems to work right in System Preferences but not in GB and LE. Can you think of anyway to calibrate the System Pref input to the app inputs? I know this is supposed to be automatic, but so far it's not working that way.

How I put mine on is went to start screen then all programs
Then right clicked on Beats Audio and choose pin to desktop.

first, you just asked me to use MS file Explorer to see what the properties were.,..and to ask what happened. Yes - that's on my hard drive. The problem I have is opening word files in a DB that is web enabled.....I've used Firefox browser for that, and everything else , for years...... When I look at the Tools, and options on FireFox., as your support page noted.....NOTHING is listed in the Applications tab....hence my note asking for help. The file I need to open is a Word file out on a web enabled DB. It's not on my hard drive - I have to problems opening docs there - but for that, I don't use Firefox

Lightroom installing on C: drive, despite CC preferences install location on E:
Having a problem with Lightroom installing to C drive despite E drive being the preference setting under Apps in Creative Cloud. Have uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. Photoshop installed with no issues to E drive after uninstalling off of C drive, changing preferences in CC to E and reinstalling Photoshop. No problems. Assumed Lightroom would install the same way, but no such luck. Help!!
Thanks for the help Mylenium. You have saved me hours of frustration and wasted time. Just discovered a host of other members who were complaining bitterly in 2013 and 2014. Hopefully Adobe heeds their customers concerns and fixes it in 2015, or at the very least has a pop up window that states what the FAQ states "Lightroom must be installed to your local drive and can't be installed to custom location like other Creative Cloud apps. Lightroom always installs to the default location and disregards any preference you select for a custom location. This behavior is as designed." That would have saved me so much time and aggravation, and no doubt other frustrated members to come.

I am importing my cd collection to itunes and it has been working great. I have thousands of cds and this is taking some time and space on my laptop hard drive. So I bought a external hard drive for my laptop. In the itunes preferences i changed the settings to save tracks to my f-drive in file folder i created calling it itunes. I spent several days importing cds to the external hard drive and all was going well until I had to shut down my laptop for travel. When I got home and got on to itunes the preferences changed back to the original c-drive location and now none of the songs could be found. When i changed the source drive to f again it read through all the songs in itunes to be found in f again but this took awhile. I am only a quarter of the way through my collection. Is there a setting that i am missing? I dont want to have to go through this every time i have to shut down my laptop.

You can simply move them.
Be advised, however, that the EXS creates a "link" to where it found the samples the last time, so when the samples are moved, the EXS has to go looking for them, and once it finds them, will re-establish this link to the new location.
It will do this automatically, but it will take a few extra seconds to load an instrument, while it quickly scans the drives it can see.
If you use the EXS a lot, or plan on building your EXS library, a really solid investment would be Redmatica's EXS Manager.

It can do many useful things, including re-linking your EXS instruments with their associated samples in just a few minutes. If you have a large EXS library like some of us do, this thing is a must have. -
Soundbooth Crashes when changing input device
I'm running Soundbooth CS4 on Snow Leopard and can't seem to record anything. When I hit the record button and change my input setting to my line in microphone, Soundbooth crashes. It does the same thing when I try to change it under Audio Device preferences. It crashes regardless of the input device that I try and change it to. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing seems to work. Below is the error report that I get.

Could you check the following setting in Printer drivers.
Go to Printer Properties -> Printing Preferences->Advanced tab
Under the Printer Features option click on “Graphic mode” , you will see two options.“Send graphic as Vector Optimize” or “Send graphic as Raster”
Note : Toggle b/w this two setting. Click OK to save
Then next option you will see “Send TrueType as Bitmap” so Enable it then click Apply and click OK.Try printing and check. Changing the drive to burn CDs to
I got rid of my old external drive (labeled G:) and got a new one and when I plugged it in it is labeled H:. Itunes was set to burn to G: and I want to change it to burn to H:. How do I change it. In the Preferences>Advanced>Burning section I see the label for G: as the unit to burn to but I can't figure out how to change it. There is no drop down menu or any kind of edit button that I can find. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Does Choose Backup Disk to change backup drives copy the old backup?
I am about to install 10.5. I plan to use TM with my FW800 LaCie 500GB drive until I get a RAID. I see that one can change backup disks with System Preferences > Time Machine > Choose Backup Disk. When you do this does the entire backup get copied from the old disk to the new one? If so, great. I can format the LaCie drive and redeploy it.
When you attach and choose a new drive for backing up, TM will begin a new full backup. It does not copy from one backup drive to another. But once that backup is done, you'll have two drives that can be used by TM (not at the same time). If you don't want one of them, you can erase it. However, as you probably suspect, the new backup will not have the history of old backups that the old drive has.
If you search around the forum, you might find one or more old posts that talk about performing a copy from one backup drive to another, using CCC or SuperDuper, I think. So what I think you want to do is probably do-able. Just look for those posts, you'll get the details. -

Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?
If you want the shuffle to be always visible in Windows (outside of iTunes), you need to Enable disk use.
Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, select the Summary tab. You should see a checkbox that says Enable disk use. Check it and click Apply.
NOTE: If disk use is enabled, you have to Eject the shuffle in iTunes, BEFORE you physically disconnect it. If disk use is NOT enabled, you can disconnect the shuffle at any time, as long as iTunes is not doing something with it at that moment (such as syncing); the shuffle's light will then be blinking (to indicate DO NOT DISCONNECT).
So, unless you want to use the shuffle like a USB flash drive (carry random files on it), you may want to NOT Enable disk use. -
I have searched online and tried all the possibilities to fix the issues I am having but have sadly been unsuccessful. My ipod is being read as a digital camera, it is not reading on my itunes therefore I cannot sync any music or apps I have purchased. The only solution I couldn't try was to change my drive letter. Main reason being, my device did not show up under the disk management page.
If you have pictures (on your iPod) in the Camera Roll, that may be why the iPod is showing up as a camera. The Camera Roll is where pictures taken on the iPod, screenshots taken on the iPod and pictures saved from Safari are stored.
Copy the pictures from the Camera Roll and put them onto yuor computer. Once you have done that, you can delete the pictures from the Camera Roll and perhaps the iPod will stop showing up as a camera.
The iPod Touch does not have an accessible hard drive, so it will not show up under disk management. -
How do you change the drive that my Iphone backs-up to on my computer? My first attempt to back-up and i received a pop-up stating that I do not have sufficient memory/space, knowing that I have over 120GB of free space...any ideas? thanks

iTunes stores your iPhone backups in the Library folder in your Home folder.
iTunes places the backup files in these places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

FIRST, THE REPAIR PERMISSIONS SOLUTION:
Use Disk Utilities on the "Sofware Install and Restore" DVD that came with your computer to set the permissions back to the defaults. Not the MacOSX Installation Disk. (This worked in MacOS 10.3.9)
MY SCREW UP
In my Hard Drive's "Get Info" dialog I switched the permissions of the Owner to my username and all others to no access. I had not yet closed the dialog and decided that it was probably dangerous so I started changing them back. I first changed the owner back to system. It asked for authentication.
After entering my password I assumed that I would be able to go back and change the others as well. Nope! The dialog disappeared, my desktop disappeared and I couldn't do anything. I was locked out.
After ten minutes of the beachball I restarted to the "Panther Installation disk" and tried repairing permissioins using disk utility. Evertime it "lost contact" with the system and would not work. Restarting (without CD) took me to a root user login (black sreen). My username and password did nothing.
THE SOLUTION
I then restarted to the "Software Install and Restore" DVD that came with my computer and used its Disk Utility to repair permissions. IT WORKED! It set permissions back to the default. THANK GOD.
NOTE: I wonder, will using the Install and Restore DVD to repair permissions reset any computer's files to the defaults? Is that a backdoor into someones currently restricted files and folders? (Assuming that you have physical access and the computer specific DVD)Using the Repair Permissions function will not change the permissions on an account's home folder or anything in it, but there are at least two other ways in which someone with a Mac OS X 10.4 installation disk can get access to an account's files or folders unless some or all of those files are encrypted.
