Changing iPad Touch Primary Email?

Hi - My daughter has an iPod Touch 4th gen. Sometime ago, she changed email addresses, which I thought we had updated in her Touch. When we updated the IOS this morning, it kept trying to force us to login using her old email address, which no longer exists. We were able to work thru it by bypassing parts of the set-up, then logging in to FaceTime and Messenger with her new AppleID email address. Trying to figure it out, I suspect all we really did in the past was create a new Apple ID and use that to log in to FT and Messenger.
My question - how do I get her Touch to forget all about the old email address and associate it with her new email address and Apple ID? Thanks for your help.

On the iPod go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings and start over again.

Did you change the email for the Apple ID or did you create a new Apple ID? A new Apple ID cannot be used with content that was bought using a different Apple ID.

Changed Apple ID Primary Email

Hi - I changed my primary email address which inturn became my new apple id. Now i was already logged into iCloud on my iPad mini with old apple id. It does not allow me to delete, because find my iPhone option was ON and it keeps prompting me to enter password for old id. There is no option for me to change my ID to the new ID. Please help. I am stuck at this.

I have always been under the impression that changing the username that you use for your Apple ID (in this case the email address which is supposed to be your username) that it had no effect on previous purchases. I assumed that you should be able to download the apps again for free using the changed username/AppleID.
You could try deleting one app and then try to download it again using the new ID and see what happens. Honestly, after reading about this for 4 years now, I am still unclear what happens when you change the email address that you use for your Apple ID. Obviously its not quite as seamless as I thought it would be.

Bulk Change UserID and Primary Email Address

Hi All,
We have just successfully completed Cutover Migration and imported in all users and mailboxes from our existing Exchange 2010 environment into Exchange Online. However we are now wanting to change all UserID and Primary Email Addresses to conform with a
new username strategy. All accounts are currently Cloud Only and we do not have DirSync set up and are not planning to.
Currently the username and email address for a user is in the format [email protected] We want this now to be [email protected] for both logging in and email address. We want to maintain the old Email address as a proxy address. How is this possible?
There are about 500 users, so I need a quick way of doing this with a script?

You can connect to Exchange Online via the powershell console.
To add an emailaddress this should work :

Issue when changing primary email address of Apple ID

I consider this mail as bug report of how Apple handles multiple email addresses on Apple ID.
Pre setup:
Primary email: "email address"
Additional address: "email address 2"
Iphone installed with "email address" and
Steps to do on appleid web page:
1 - Change password (was forced)
2 - Remove "email address 2" from additional mail addresses list
3 - Change apple ID primary "email address" to -> "email address 2"
4 - Add "email address" to additional addresses list
Result:
Primary email: "email address 2"
Addidional address: "email address"
When you try use iPhone, it asks login to iCloud (correct behavior, password has been changed). But iPhone does not ask for login, it asks password for "email address".
If you try remove "email address" iCloud account, iPhone asks password for "email address" to remove "Find my phone". Device cannot be removed from iCloud web page so iPhone is "locked" to "email address", and this cannot be changed.
Alternative Apple ID "[email protected]", also listed on additional email addresses list. You CAN'T change alternate Apple ID, but you CAN remove "[email protected]" from additional mail list. This must be bug!
Another bug: You CAN'T select primary email address from 'additional mail addresses' list, you MUST remove address from list first, then you can change primary address to that removed address. You should able to use own verified address as primary apple id address.
Also removed addresses must be re-verified every time after removing.

I had a similar problem, which prevented me changing my personal data on iCloud/apple etc. I found the answer on the apple web-site, "appleid.apple.com".
This site lets you change your primary country, and so lets you use the app store.

I want to change my primary email address

I wan to change my btinternet primary email address to another one, either my sub account address or a new one. I don't mind which. I've been trying for 9 days now to have this done, and BT keep saying they'll do it but they haven't.
Has anyone else tried to do this and if so have they actually succeeded in getting a new primary email address?

Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated.
Basically I want to change my primary email address as I've changed my surname following separation from my husband, and don't want any association with my old name which it was. I wish it was only spam I want to get rid of. Yes, you're right, I'm using webmail not outlook or similar.
Unfortunately I've already begun the long and tortuous process of getting my primary email address changed and am now on day 9 of frustrating emails, telephone calls with the call centre in India (or somewhere) Each time I talk to someone they assure me it will be done in 24 hours, 48 hours, by the end of the day..... I expect this sounds familiar to you if you've been there? Your comment about a breakdown in communication is perhaps an understatement! I've come to the conclusion they fully understand what I want but just aren't interested in seeing it through. All they want to know at the end of the phone call is if I'm happy with how they've dealt with my call. Well yes I am at the time, as they understand what I want, relay back to me what I want, but don't actually deliver. Promises, promises, promises.
I've now lodged a formal complaint to BT and am sure I'll get the usual responses about process, systems, blah blah blah...
Sigh. As you may guess I'm absolutely fizzing about it all!! I've already wasted hours of my life chasing it, just can't stop though - don't give up!! However, am pleased to know that someone has got it done, so I'll just keep trying and boy is it trying....

HT204088 Changing primary email (thus AppleID) in Icloud but Itunes Not in Tune :)

I have changed my Appleid primary email as I have recently moved. so now I have a new AppleID but I believe that all of the information on Icloud is still correct as I just changed it. I did not delete it and did not recreated it. Just changed so th einfo should be linked to the new updated AppleID.
The problem is that when I use my iphone (updating apps for example),ITUNES does not recognize the new AppleID and defaults to the old one no longer in existence and as such I cannot login in into ITUNES or update my apps etc...
I believe that I have to delete the old AppleID on the IPHONE and recreate it on the IPHONE with the newly changed AppleID for a correct link. I am concened however that if I do so (the deletion) I will lose all of the apps I have downloaded and other info I have on the phone.
Can anyone confirm either. Thank you.

I really wish these web developers would build web apps and websites to proper HTML5 standards and stop building to WebKit. This building for WebKit is the same crap that people used to do in the 90's when buiding for Internet Explorer and that made a huge mess of web standards. Websites should look and work exactly on any web standards compliant browser, WebKit is not the Web.

NO EDIT BUTTON FOR APPLE ID/PRIMARY EMAIL?

I'm trying to change my Primary email for my Apple Id.
I found an Apple 'how to' article where they say to click on Edit next to the Apple ID but THERE'S NO EDIT BUTTON.
So annoying!! Anyone knows how to change the Apple Primary Email address?

You can update your primary email address by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and logging into the account, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or by logging in via http://appleid.apple.com
If you are using the same account for iCloud then you may want to log out of it first : Settings > iCloud > Sign Out - you can log back in with the updated version of your account after you've updated it

Now when I go to App store on my iPad it still tries to login to the App store using the old email address I had associated with the account, and naturally my password doesn't work. I can't figure out how to tell my iPad to login using the updated email address.
So in effect I'm locked out of the app store and I currently have 26 updates waiting.
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting my IPad to iCloud with no luck.. However I cloud happens to show the correct/updated email address.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

I have changed Internet providers and have finally managed to update my primary email details under the Apple ID manage your account area.

Did you change the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID? Tap the old ID and sign out and then sign in with the new one. If not running iOS 6 it will be Settings>Stores>Apple ID.

What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app ? If it's the old email address that you had on your account then try tapping on it and log out of your account and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.

My old nternet account was cancelled and with it my emails. I updated my apple id and password in all my devices (ipad, iphone, imac, except for my moms iphone. Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted. Please use the following article as a reference.

Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
