Changing iphone mobileme from @mac to @me

Hey all;
Back in the day I got an iphone and had a .MAC account with a @mac email address. Since then they have added the MobileMe service and added the @me email address. My newly purchased iPad has an email address of @me, while my iphone still has an @mac email.
I want to change the outgoing email address of my iphone to be @me instead of @mac, but I am having trouble. I have deleted the account off the phone, and re-set it up using the @me email address, once I create the "new" mobileme email account, the settings somehow seem to revert to the @mac host name and smtp setting.
Has anyone out there experienced this, and how the **** can I change it? I typically send emails from my two mobile devices and I am sick of getting replies to both @me and @mac addresses when people reply to all.
Please help!

to make an example:
1.
when subscribed years ago to an .mac account I got the E-Mail address: [email protected]
2.
when MobileMe was introduced I automatically got the E-Mail address: [email protected]
but were still able to receive or sent E-Mails via [email protected]
3.
Now I moved with [email protected] to iCloud and made the iCloud setup on all the devices using [email protected] but on all devices inclusive in iTunes and on the website https://appleid.apple.com appears as my main AppleID [email protected], hence I cannot send an E-Mail with the iPad Mail app or iPhone Mail app from [email protected] but from [email protected] This is not what I want because I don't want to inform all others that my E-Mail address has changed again from [email protected] to [email protected]
This is disturbing and I would like to have that fixed.
Most likely all those who haven't had an old .mac account don't face that problem.

How do I change my Ipod from mac to windows format?? My Imac is not working at the moment, but I want to use my Ipod on my PC. How do I get my Ipod(mac formated) to get work on my PC??

Use iTunes on the PC to restore the iPod, or install XPlay on the PC without changing the format. Restoring the iPod will erase everything on it.

  • How do I change Mobile Me from .Mac to .Me on my iPhone

I just got the new iPhone 3GS, and when I synced (restored)from my old iPhone, I noticed that my Mobile Me on the iPhone has the .Mac address instead of .Me.
I think this may have something to do also with the Find Me Locator on me.com. It worked on my old iPhone for 2 days (since 3.0 came out) but on the new phone even though I've checked by settings, can get it to show my phone online at me.com.

If you are using the same Apple ID on your iPhone 5 and on your iPad, you can synch several things.  Your iTunes account can be synched so that any apps and music you purchase appears on both devices. You can synch your Safari Bookmarks and pages views on each device, which is handy if you find something on one device and then later want to find it on the other device.  Your Photostream can be synched so that photos taken on your iPhone will automatically appear on your iPad and vice versa. You can mirror text iMessages to both devices, which is kind of handy. Finally and most useful to me, you can use the Find My iPhone feature on your iPhone to find your iPad and vice versa.
    My Suggestions
    1. In Settings, iCloud, make sure that you are using the same iCloud account on your iPhone and on your iPad.
    2. In Settings, Mail, make sure that you are using the same email account on each device.
    3. In Settings, iTunes & App Stores, make sure you are using the same Apple ID. Turn on Automatic Downloads on Music, Apps, and Books (you may decide to turn one of these off if you run into space limits.)
4.In Settings, Photos and Camera, turn on My Photo Stream.
    5. In Settings, iBooks, turn on Sync Bookmarks and Sync Collections.
    Be Careful
You may have to tweak Facetime settings if you wish to have your iPhone call your iPad or vice versa. If you do, you'll want to have one unique element on each device, eg uncheck the phone number on your iPad, and uncheck a secondary email address on the iPhone. You may not want to do this, so might not be an issue.
Please feel free to correct me if any of this is in error or is unclear.  I am glad to share my experiences and happy to hear back from the community.

  • Change iPhone Sync from PC to Mac Book

I purchased an iPhone when they first came out...and set it up to sync with a Dell Computer. Now, I've purchased a Mac Book Pro and would like to sync it with that.
    1. I can't seem to deauthorize the iPhone from the PC
    2. I can see the iPhone on my Mac Book Pro...but can't sync it
Do I need to completely reset the phone and start from the beginning? Also, now I have to find a way to get my music from my other computers to the new Mac Book Pro...
Any help would be greatly appreciated

An iPhone is not authorized or tied to a particular computer in any way. You can activate an iPhone with a Windows PC and then sync it with a Mac or vice-versa. Some sync their iTunes music and video with their Mac but sync everything else with their Windows PC. You can sync iTunes music and video with one computer but an iPhone is not authorized to any one computer.
What happens when you try to sync your iPhone with your MBP? Any error message provided?
iTunes includes an Export Library and Back Up to Disc options which can be used to transfer your iTunes music from one computer to another.

  • IPhone Synce from Mac to PC

My friend upgraded to the 3G and gave me his original. I have a few questions. First the iPhone was last synced to a Mac and I have a PC. What do I have to do to use it as a Touch? I am a current AT&T user, can I activate from home?

Iphone is not Mac or windows specific. You can use on both, without doing anything.
"What do I have to do to use it as a Touch?"
Nothing. It will work as a touch without a SIM card. You cannot update or restore without an active SIM, however.
    " I am a current AT&T user,can I activate from home?"
You will need to get a new SIM from AT&T, then you can activate the iphone.

  • Can iPhone switch from Mac to PC?

I set up my iphone at my work which has windows. But at my home I have a Mac. So each time i plug my iPhone into my Mac nothing happens. Is there something I can do to change this???

Blake, you can use both a MAC and a PC with the same iPhone. Many posts have been made on this topic (search "sync multiple computers"). Lots of people (inculding myself) use a PC at work to sync Outlook calendar & contacts, use a MAC at home for tunes & video.

  • Can't place iPhone call from Mac (can receive calls though)

-MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) with Yosemite (10.10)
    -iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1
Both use same iCloud account and same FaceTime account. Both have 'iPhone Cellular Calls' enabled under FaceTime settings.
I cannot place an outgoing call from my Mac. I've been getting an error 'iPhone Calls Not Available. Your iPhone must use the same iCloud and FaceTime account' but it does indeed..
I tried to reboot both devices, signed out/in iCloud, played with the toggle-switches - still nothing. Though when I am receiving an incoming call on iPhone - I can take it on Mac.
The only idea I have - my cellular provider is not supported by Apple FaceTime server so I've been using only AppleID to place FaceTime calls (no phone number used) and it's been working fine up to now. But if you go into FaceTime settings of my iPhone you see 'Activation unsuccessful.'
Can anyone confirm if you can place calls from Mac with having FaceTime activated only by AppleID (no cellular phone number) on your iPhone?
    Thanks.

I was able to get it worked after enabling iMessage/FaceTime with my phone number. This issue made me to find out a way to do that -)

  • Changing an ipod from Mac to PC

Is it possible to reformat a classic ipod from Mac to PC? My mother has rejected my old Powerbook and wants to keep her pc(!) but her ipod is synced to the powerbook.
I would like to a) download everything from the ipod to her pc and b) reformat the ipod to work with her pc. Can it be done? Appreciate any and all advice.
    Thanks

*I would like to a) download everything from the ipod to her pc*
If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). There are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows. XPlay for instance gets good reviews and has the added functionality to let you copy your songs back to iTunes. You can purchase XPlay at this link: XPlay
*and b) reformat the ipod to work with her pc*
Once you have the contents of the iPod saved to the PC you can restore it in iTunes for Windows. Restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Windows version and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Change iphone 3G from PC to Mac?

When I originally got my iphone, I had a PC, but I've since migrated to a MacBook Pro.  The iPhone, though it will sync to the MacBook Pro, doesn't seem to carry with it any personalization....

  • Change user account from mac to mac

Witch steps are required for copy the iTunes Account from the old Mac mini to the new Mac Book Pro?  The old Mac mini it isn't in operation. I need only the iTunes Account for the iPhone, Music and ohters.

Unfortunately the 'require password change at next login' option is badly phrased and unsuitable for you.  If this checkbox is set, the only thing the user can do with their account is log into it on a Mac using a standard Mac login screen.  Logging in in this way will automatically trigger the 'enter your new password' dialog.  Attempts to use the account with other services will lead to an error message like 'account disabled' or 'no such username/pasword'.
Since your users are not using Macs to log in, this option is useless to you.
You can allow your users to change their passwords remotely, no matter whether they're using Macs or Windows or iPads, by enabling the 'change password' option which, I think, is part of the wiki service.  This gives you a web-facing 'change password' page which can be used from any web browser.  However, even this option will not work if you set the 'require password change at next login' option.  No, it makes no sense to me either.

  • Converting iphone backup from Mac to PC ?

    Hello
My daughter has her iphone synced to my mac, she has now just bought a PC laptop ( don't even go there !!! )
What is the best and easiest way to copy her contacts, musics and apps from my mac to her PC so she can re-sync her iphone to the PC ??
    Thanks

Actually, the best way to do this is to use the iPhone itself. If you have all the info synced with your Mac, it should allow you to preserve and sync it to the PC (of course, it's not really syncing to the PC because there's no Address Book, iCal, etc, but it is backing it up in iTunes.
The other thing to try is The Missing Sync from markspace.com. I used that for years to sync my Treo between machines. I'm not sure if you can get one license to cover both Mac and PC, but there must be a solution in there somewhere.
The other idea is a MobileMe account. You can get the trial and see if that helps you out somehow.
    Good Luck,
    Rob

  • Can't remove deleted iPhone apps from Mac

I haven't been able to find the specific answer to this one.
After removing an app from my iPhone 4S, I also try to remove it from iTunes on my Macbook Pro (Mavericks 10.9).
For example, if trying to remove my "CBS" app (see image below)
Steps to reproduce: Connect phone to Mac > Open iTunes on Mac > iPhone > Apps
I have the option to "Install" it again, but no option remove or uninstall it completely. The "Remove" button only seems to apply to apps I have kept on my iPhone and do not want to remove e.g. the Fandango, Flixster, HBO GO apps.
How can I completely remove/uninstall the CBS app from the list of options? It didn't work well and I no longer intend to use it.
    Thanks

  • Changing my subscription from Mac to PC

Hi, a year or two ago I purchased Adobe After Effects CS5 for my Mac.  However, I recently built a nice editing PC to game and edit videos on.  I was wondering if there is any way to change my After Effects subscription to PC instead of Mac.  I understand that Creative Cloud is big right now, but I would like to avoid spending $30.00 a month considering I really only use After Effects and Photoshop.  If there is any way to convert these two programs to PC, please let me know. Thanks!

If you are using a creative cloud subscription there is no need to change anything. Just deactivate on one of the Mac's you are using, if you are using two, and install on a PC. If you purchased a perpetual license you have to talk to Customer service and request a change of platform. They will send you forms that you fill out, then you simply uninstall from the Mac and install on a PC using your new PC serial number.

  • Can't change iPhone contact from SMS to imessage

I was sending an imessage to a friend (an iPhone user) and it wasn't working for some reason and it asked me if I wanted to send as SMS which I clicked on accident. After I sent the SMS, the contact shows up in green instead of blue when I tried to start a new conversation. I've tried many ways to fix this including:
    *resetting network setting
    *deleting and readding contact
    *restarting imessage
    *restarting my phone
I've read that the iPhone changes the contact (if it's a SMS or imessage) automatically and I am trying to avoid factory reset. My other iPhone users contact still shows up as blue on imessage. It's only a problem for the one contact I accidentally sent a SMS to. Now I am stuck at a dead end and don't know what to do anymore. I currently have an iPhone 6 running on iOS 8.1.3 and my software is up to date.

1st of all I would recommend you changed your IDE controler from v2.6 to v2.5 or the standard SW IDE that comes with xp.
Go to your device manager, expand where it says IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Go to the apprropriate tab (Primary or Seconday Channel) depending on where you have connected your device, and then choose your preffered transfer mode. If you have eveything connected well, and you are not getting any transfer errors (quite common with 2.6 nvidia IDE driver) if you tick the "Let BIOS select transfer mode" it should default to Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra 33.
    Hope this helps.
